Nice room shame about reception staff

The hotel and room were very nice. Pleasant and helpful waitress at breakfast. The only thing that let the stay down was reception staff, we had a long journey and they rang
to ask what time we were arriving. I said about 10:30 and her response was I will wait for you! Yet check in was until 11:00. At 10:30 another phone call, we were ten minutes away, again I will wait for you was said as if doing us a favour. When we arrived there were 4 staff all with their coats on waiting to leave. If the hotel says 11:00 reception closes then it should be that time, not keep phoning. It made the last part of our journey very stressful. In the morning we had to wait five minutes for someone to come so we could check out. The hotel is not on the lake it is a five minute walk away.

Although out of town there's a good restaurant within the hotel and other restaurants nearby. The parking is open to the road and limited. All the staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was a good size,clean with an excellent shower. The lake is about a ten minute walk away.

Lovely hotel near pools for family

Lovely spacious family room with a.c. on top floor with small view of Bodensee. Just across the street was a public (sand not rock!) beach with adjacent thermal pool, lap pool, kid pool with slide, lawns and restaurant. A fee restaurants nearby. Bus into Friedrichhaven also just across the street, with busses coming every 30 minutes (but often late). Pool beach area is 7.5€ with guest card from hotel. One-zone family day bus pass was 7€. Only downside is two-lane highway next to hotel gets a lot of truck traffic. Some other places by lake are more serene.

The hotel is on the main road, somewhat outside of the city; walking distance to the lake but not very close by. Seems to be geared towards short stays not long term stays. Comfortable rooms, but somewhat noisy being close to the road; earplugs necessary. Reception personnel very helpful and courteous. The restaurant is very good, but the restaurant personnel was not very nice.

Leave it to the bus.

You need the frequent buses which will take you to Friedrichshafen at around 15 mph in the bus lanes. DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE INTO THE TOWN! You can not comfortably walk the 5km to the centre and you will find it hugely stressful to try and drive/park.

Pleasant hotel half way between Munich and the Rhein falls on Lake Constance. Comfortable clean and quiet and a very good restaurant, Walking along the lakeshore we passed a beer garden but opted instead for coffee and cake at the bakery along the street from the hotel.

The hotel is advertised as close, walking distance, to lake Constace. The hotel is on the main road, very busy traffic location and, although not far from rage lake, there is no access way to the lake. You have to go/drive all the way to downtown marina to be able to walk by the lake. Really nothing to do by/around the hotel. Disappointed by the misguided advertising.

Very nice hotel in suburban setting.

Beautiful hotel combining old-style and modern amenities. Right on bus line with a stop that specifically mentions the hotel, so you don't have to guess whether you are in the right place. A bus runs up and down the lake shore making it easy to visit the neighboring towns, such as Meersburg-Bodensee, a must see. Also the boats to Mainau go from there. Nearby wineries, lake swimming and boating, easy access by public transportation to other areas such as Constance.

Nice central hotel for Bodensee

I found this hotel very good in every aspects except parking. Although the hotel has plenty of spaces for cars there is still a shortage. I did stay over a weekend so it may have been worse then. It is permissible to park on the local streets.

The staff are most friendly and facilities, cleanliness and comfort cannot be faulted.

It was a pleasant hotel that was clean, nicely decorated and the staff was very kind. The breakfast was very nice too. We rented bikes from the hotel and rode, not to far, down to Immenstaad am bodensee, a nice little town and had lunch. The area around the hotel is very bike and pedestrian friendly. Dinner at the hotels restaurant was fantastic. We had a great time while staying at the Hotel Restaurant Maier.

Beautiful hotel near Lake Constance with updated rooms and a wonderful breakfast buffet. We walked over towards the lake in the evening directly across the road from the hotel and were happy to stumble across a cafe on the water's edge that served beer. There are also a couple places within walking distance for a nice dinner.

A mixed experience - be careful when you pay bill!

After reading reviews, one of the major attractions was the food. As it turned out the breakfast was very good, but we found the evening meal disappointing. The first meal we chose was the \"chef's menu of the day\" which, except for the delicious dessert, was very ordinary indeed. On the second evening I chose a pork fillet dish and was dismayed to find that while some of the meat was ok some was decidedly tough. For the remainder of our stay we ate out and had very good food at a much better price.
There were some failures in communication: there was nothing to explain that the air conditioning only worked when all windows were shut, and nothing to explain that there were outside roller blinds which could be worked by a switch. When we came to check out, my husband asked to pay in euros on his debit card, which would have given a better exchange rate, but he was told he had to pay in pounds. Only on completing the transaction did he receive the following note on the receipt:\"I accept that I have been offered a choice of currencies..... I accept that my choice of currency is final\" This was patently untrue and left us feeling very ill at ease and a little out of pocket.

Great Hotel for Biking Around Lake Constance

My husband and I stopped here for one night while biking around Lake Constance (The Bodensee).

The hotel is quaint with a mix of traditional/\"old fashion\" and more modern decor. The room was not huge, but definitely good enough and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the air condition would be helpful on hot summer days. The room also had a mini bar/fridge, which was super helpful for us to keep our drinks cold for the next day's trek.

Additional positives include:
-free bike storage in their bike garage
-free use of wellness area, which was quite nice for a small hotel and stayed open until 22:00 (sauna, steam room, showers, and relaxation area)
-free and strong wifi (even in the rooms)
-breakfast buffet (which was included in our booking)
-restaurant on site for convenience (but can't comment as we didn't eat there)
-Italian restaurant about 50 meters away

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this area (though it is about 5-6 kms from \"downtown\" Friedrichshafen) and especially those cycling around the lake. It was right on our path.

We arrived from Davos after a lot of heavy rain to find Lake Constance bathed in sunshine. We were able to book n and then with advice from the hotel caught a bus to the Zepellin a Museum. While we were in the museum, which was excellent, we had a short rain storm. When we emerged we caught the bus back to Hotel Maier. We then had an excellent meal in their restaurant which was full of regional delicacies. The room was very new and modern but very clean and bright. We had a good night's sleep and heard no road noise. Breakfast was very good and full of variety.

If you're looking for a place downtown, this may not be it. However, I was on a business trip with the DHBW and the location was great for that. The hotel had a good breakfast, and a restaurant. There are other restaurants nearby as well. The only thing that I found to be less than desirable was that the hallways were very stuffy. I would have liked to leave my window open at night and not use the AC, but with the hallways so intensely warm, that didn't work well, and we resorted to using AC.

Hotel was easy to find and parking was never an issue. Staff were helpful, friendly and spoke English. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the meal was well presented and tasty. We had a problem with the shower in the room assigned to us and were moved immediately and without any fuss. Both rooms were a reasonable size, warm and comfortable. The included breakfast was the usual fruit, cereal etc but also included bacon and eggs. Whilst side-on to a main road, noise was never an issue. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Wir wurden von Expedia hierhin umgebucht, da unser vorheriges Hotel gar nicht hätte buchbar sein dürfen. Das Hotel ist top, wir waren im Neubau. Super schönes, großes Zimmer. Sehr sauber, sehr gemütliches Bett. Fußläufig zum See mit nettem Biergarten. Auch der Innenhof vom Hotel ist schön (s. Foto).
Einzig das Frühstück fanden wir vom Ablauf etwas schwierig, es wird alles an den Tisch serviert. Als ich gegen Ende (ca. 9:15 Uhr) noch einen Obstsalat bestellt habe, musste ich 25 Minuten warten. Der Service war ziemlich im Stress. Wir würden Büfett bevorzugen.
Ansonsten top Aufenthalt- für uns zu einem Schnäppchenpreis.

Ein schönes und angenehmes Hotel. Das Zimmer im Neubau war sehr schön und zweckmäßig eingerichtet, in dem wir uns wohlgefühlt haben.

Nur die Frühstücksvariante, kein Buffet, hat mir nicht so zugesagt, da die Bestell-Variante etwas zeitaufwendig war, und ich dadurch aus terminlichen Gründen, weniger Zeit zum Frühstücken hatte.

Einziger Kritikpunkt: Ich habe das Hotel über Hotels.com mit VIP Access gebucht. Laut Beschreibung sollten folgende Gold-Vorteile gelten: 20% Rabatt auf Speisen und Getränke (einmal pro Aufenthalt) sowie ein kostenloses Zimmerupgrade, sofern verfügbar.

Der 20% Rabatt auf Speisen wurde mir angeboten, aber das Hotel war nicht ausgebucht (ein Upgrade waere folglich verfuegbar gewesen) und dennoch wurde mir kein Zimmerupgrade angeboten. Vielleicht sollte man die Werbung damit entsprechend unterlassen.

Das Hotel liegt direkt an einer stark befahrenen Straße, was aber vorher schon ersichtlich ist. Mein Zimmer, ein EZ war im “alten” Teil des Hotels und die Einrichtung bräuchte dringend eine Erneuerung. Der Kopf des Bettes, mit Stoff bezogen, hatte große Flecken, die sehr unangenehm waren. Alles wirkt etwas runter gewirtschaftet.
Die Sauna incl. Ruheraum waren in Ordnung und sauber, was den Aufenthalt sehr stark aufgewertet hat.

Für mich ist es kein Wellnesshotel nur eine Sauna Dampfbad und Solarium nicht in Betrieb Telefon für den Einlass in den Wellnessbereich halb aus der Wand gerissen Nutzung erst ab 15 Uhr möglich Hotel Haupthaus in die Jahre gekommen Flecken auf Teppichboden im Flur und Zimmer keine gemütliche Bar für abends positiv war das Frühstück wenn mann es gleich mitbucht ansonsten für 25 Euro schon teuer

Der Aufenthalt war im gesamten sehr gut.
Leider hatten wir im Bad kein warmes Wasser bzw. sehr lau warmes Wasser, zum duschen zu kalt.

Das Hotel verfügt über eine Sauna, allerdings die Öffnungszeiten waren nicht optimal, 15-21uhr, auf Anfrage, ob die Sauna auch am Vormittag mal zu öffnen wurde leider abgelehnt, in anderen Hotels wird mehr Flexibilität angeboten bzw. Sind die Öffnungszeiten sehr viel länger, z.Bsp schon ab 07:00Uhr.

Parkplätze sollte man vor der Anreise evt reservieren, wir konnten leider nicht am Hotel parken.

Wenig Parkmöglichkeiten. Für 3 Personen zu wenig Handtücher. Leider war der Duschkopf ziemlich defekt. Erstaunlich, bei so einem neuen Zimmer.

Immer gerne und wiederholt dort

Es gibt einen neu errichteten Bereich von Zimmern und die \"älteren\" Zimmer (was nicht negativ gemeint ist). Wenn man aber mal im neuen Bereich ein Zimmer hatte, ist der Fashion Unterschied schon bemerkbar. Zimmer sind alle sauber egal in welchem Bereich. Internetverbindung ist super, Fernsehsender sind auch alle da . Dieses Mal auf Zimmer 107 im \"alten Bereich\". Standby Licht vom Fernseher (blaues Licht) strahlt nachts direkt aufs Bett, musste ich zudecken. Personal sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Eigene Parkplätze vorhanden. Super Restaurant im Erdgeschoss. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Zum Bodensee sind es ca. 500 Meter. Ganz tolle Lage.

Insgesamt ein schönes Hotel. Wir hatten zwar nur ein sehr kleines Zimmer, das war aber auch aufgrund des Preises okay. Allerdings war es sehr laut weil es zum Innenhof lag bzw. Auf der anderen Seite an den Fahrstuhl grenzte. Frühstück haben wir nicht genutzt weil die vorgeschlagenen Zeiten (7.30 oder 9.45 Uhr) nicht passten und es mit 25 Euro pro Person und Tag aus unserer Sicht auch zu teuer war.

Die älteren Zimmer sind sehr abgenutzt. Der Boden, sowie die Sitzfläche des Stuhls waren voller Flecken. Spinnweben an der Decke, Kaputtes Rolloband und viele Flecken an den Wänden. Die Handtüchern waren dreckig wurde aber sofort ausgetauscht. Am nächsten Morgen roch es im Gang sehr unangenehm.
Die Parkplatzsituation ist katastrophal! Es stehen sehr wenig Parkplätze zur Verfügung die dann von den Restaurantgästen belegt werden.
Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Es ist kein Buffet sondern der Gast kann sich aus einer Karte etwas aussuchen. Das Personal dort war sehr nett. Die Arbeitsabläufe beim Frühstück könnten etwas strukturierter sein. Empfangspersonal ziemlich unfreundlich.
Hotel ist keine 4 Sterne wert....

Classic Zimmer mit Teppichboden, riechen komisch, waere Zeit für ne Renovierung! Konnten nur fuer eine Nacht upgraden und sind dann verfrüht abgereist.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel, es hat an Nix gefehlt. Sehr leckeres Frühstück, jedoch lange Wartezeiten bis das bestellte Essen kommt.
