The property was clean nice little town, the hotel was more a bed and breakfast. No amenities to offer , no staff on site past 7pm and no one arrives until 12pm. We were unaware and fortunate that we arrived early enough that someone was there to explain the system they use. Front door automatically locks and you need code. Same for room you need code. If no staff available you would have a hard time

One of the beds was loose so made a lot of noise. Needs to be repaired to avoid it breaking if a heavier person were to sleep on it

Great hotel, charming as can be in the heart of downtown Mayville. Walkable to coffee shop, restaurants and bars. Parking is limited. I was happy I brought an eye mask as the rooms do not get as dark as I am used to. Pay attention to late arrival policies and procedures as the desk is not manned 24hours.

No frills, quiet hotel with comfy beds. The room and the common areas were extremely clean. A wedding took place there while we were staying, and the hotel was so quiet! Because of that same wedding, we could not access the bar area, but we did take a peek and it was lovely. Morning coffee available in the common areas was welcomed. I would stay again! No local breakfast, so we did have to drive a bit to a diner. Amanda at the front desk was extremely helpful.

The person checking us in was wonderful and helpful. The hotel on the other hand is due for some renovation. The room was beat up and the toilet had a ring in it like it hadn’t been used in quite some time. It was very cold in the room we turned up the heat and couldn’t tell if it was doing anything. Went to the front desk was informed there were space heaters that needed to be turned on. She also attempted to clean the toilet but it needed more attention than she could give. Don’t believe the website I believe it’s from the previous owners the bar is closed on the property. All in all it was okay but a far cry from years gone by.

The room was very nice and staff were wonderful. In all honesty I would not recommend staying there when it is really cold. the room was 42 when we arrived and She had to bring in 2 electric heaters to bring room temperature up to 68. But if you like historic like we do it's beautiful

Great staff, great little town with cool hiking trails all around and good food. I enjoyed the free coffee in the morning and looking at the artwork, the building itself is beautiful. Now my favorite part the bathtub in our room we got the standard king room and our tub was more of a hot tub. Fit me and my husband in there perfectly with room to spare if also had jets! Their shampoo was great water pressure was great. Now I will say it’s not perfect, our bed was a smidge too big for the bed frame. And the art in our room looked like it was from the early 2000. Kinda threw off the historic vibes a little. The handles in the bath tub did come off if you lift them the wrong way but it was made that way in there defense. The heater in our room was portable so when we turned it on it kinda had a fiery but not in a natural way smell. I would give this hotel a 80 out of 100 in my opinion. I’m not very picky and really enjoyed the whole experience as a whole and will definitely come back!

The room was superbly clean, and tidy, albeit worn: example the chair upholstery was split, and the toilet seat was very loose/unsafe. When they say check-in is at 4pm, there is ZERO staff in the hotel until 3:45pm, and no staff in the morning. Coffee creamer was in chunks, so do not use. Still, for the price, it was a good place to stay.

Lovely staff, very friendly. The hotel is from the late 1800's and is a beautiful building. In downtown Mayville, there are a few restaurants, coffee shop, some shopping and even a bowling alley next door. There is a lovely path to walk around the nearby golf course that I did each morning. Cute and quaint little town. The entire town of people are very friendly too.

The only hotel downside is that the hotel could use some major renovations. If someone could donate a little time and budget to help restore this place, it would be so amazing.

Love the Audubon!

I booked this stay at the Audubon thinking it would be a nice ending to a trip for a family memorial and it was… very nice. Couldn’t be more pleased with my choice. This is a very lovely hotel and the folks who have been restoring it have done a great job. Should I come by this way again, I won’t hesitate to book a room here. We were received warmly and treated like guests in a home. I would highly recommend the Audubon!!

False advertisement.

Hotel, with a smelly motel vibe. Front desk guy didnt understand english, and had water leaks in the front desk area. Rooms look nothing like the pictures, mattress was from the 70s or 80s with the metal springs, would have killed my back. Very disappointed. I walked right back out, did not stay, will be asking for a refund.

The tub was not clean, with hard water stains throughout. The shower faucet leaked, and while I did use the tub, I cleaned it beforehand. The amount of grime on the washcloth afterward was shocking. There was also a clear shampoo bottle cap left in the tub—easy to miss, but still something housekeeping should catch. That said, I truly enjoyed having a tub to soak in, especially since I have chronic back and hip issues.

The bed, unfortunately, was very uncomfortable, and I had trouble sleeping during my three-night stay. Noise from the nearby road—especially from semi trucks—also made it hard to rest, though I understand that’s due to the location.

I appreciate that the hotel is historic, and I think my aunt, who owns a historic home, would love it here. However, some furnishings felt a bit cheap and didn’t match the historic charm of the building.

The staff were responsive and courteous, which I really appreciated. I’ve read about recent renovations, but the bathroom could use further attention—at minimum, a deep cleaning and plumbing repairs. I was told there's a recurring leak from a second-floor room affecting the ceiling below, which seems to be a known issue.

Historic Charming Hotel

The staff was extremely friendly. Easy to use the keypad codes to get into the building and your room. Very quiet. Reasonable price. Historic with fixtures that seem original to the hotel. Clean hotel and room. Safe neighborhood.

My room was supposed to have a floor length mirror and the reason that I chose the room. However it did not have that mirror. The bed was firm. The hotel had some features that needed updating. For example new grout in the shower, rust on the ceiling in the bathroom. With the charm of the age of the hotel it could use a little bit more renovating to make it truly upscale. For example looking at the design of the rooms to make it more cohesivs and artwork was lacking or not cohesive. The hotel just kind of felt old versus a renovated upscale historic building. Also at night the hotel felt kind of creepy like it was haunted.

Amanda and Keyu were so nice and accommodating. It was an older building and in some ways it was like going back in time. Don’t expect a perfect modern feel. However do look forward to a really cool experience. It is an 1800’s era hotel that is kept very original. We hosted the wedding party for my daughter’s wedding there on short notice. They opened up the bar and made us feel right at home. The place is under new ownership and they are working diligently to make it something that is even more enjoyable! I think we will go back just to hang out there and see them again.

The rooms do not look like the online pictures at all. The room was so dirty, stains on the sheets, toilet and bathtub so gross, we had no choice but to stay due to our arrival time but had it been earlier we wouldn’t have stayed. This place has so much potential but it needs a lot of work.

Quaint fun place!

Quaint place with wonderful service. They even did a load of laundry for us. They let us play darts in the bar when it wasn’t open and were always so cheery!

Gorgeous property. Friendly staff. Quiet except the upstairs neighbors had squeaky floor boards and were up walking around from 5-8 am and we couldn't sleep. Bar on main floor is beautiful but not open very long. The bartender Bill makes the best old fashioned. Clean. Very comfortable bed. Jetted tub was amazing. Would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful experience

Wonderful antique hotel. Since we arrived late, we used a code to get in. It was so quiet, we might have been alone in the hotel! We didn’t see another soul (alive or dead lol). Really nice and very memorable!

Historic Hotel: Doesn’t Offer Much Beyond History

It’s an old hotel with some modern upgrades. Rooms are very spacious and bed was comfortable. Services and amenities were pretty lackluster. We only saw someone at the front desk once. In room amenities were a bar of soap and a shampoo/conditioner combo. Bar was never open when we were there despite their business hours saying they should have been. Still had Christmas decor up which is petty but c’mon, it’s April.

It was excellent with a few exceptions. The bathroom could use a stand by the sink to put toiletries on. There was no towel bar beside the bathroom sink.
The room we were in was right beside the street. The street lights were shining right in the bedroom windows.

A unique stay in a small town! I loved that the inn was right downtown and dining and shopping were a short walking distance away. The room was spacious and comfortable. The building had historic charm and was decorated festively for the holidays. We checked in late and instructions were clear for building access as the desk is not staffed 24/7. A nice coffee bar was available on the second floor just outside our room. I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie staying here! Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful building and large rooms. However you can hear everything your neighbors do. There is no staff after 8 so if you need a blanket or ice you are out of luck. The bed sheets didn’t fit the bed and we sweat our butts off as you cannot turn the air down to cool off the room.

It's a very old building, probably late 1800's. Interior was freshly painted and well decorated. Rooms are on the perimeter with a sit down area in the center that was very nice. The room and linens were clean, but the room had a low level odd smell to it.
