I liked the scenery and the natives but as far as the staff they're not friendly at all to natives or people of color. Its sad because its very costly to go there and then to be treated like an outcast.. I would not recommend people of color to go because they don't want you there and the guest there will treat you like your invisible, only the natives will be welcoming

The Sensei lanai property and hotel is increidble! This was one of the most if not the most relaxing stays we’ve ever had. Facilities are brand new and top of the line. Doing a spa treatment and time in the Hale is an absolute must.
That being said, still a few kinks to work out with service level. We were dissapointed that the property boasts all of their activities (yoga, meditation, fitness etc) however had no spots open to participate. While I understand there are restrictions due to
Covid, it would make sense to make sure to have enough options for guests of the hotel to be able to participate.

The Perfect Place to Relax

Sensei Lanai is the perfect place to relax. The landscaping on the grounds is absolutely stunning- feels like you're walking around Jurassic Park (but with no dinosaurs.) The only improvement I would make is I wish there was more dining options. The resort only has once restaurant (they have a bar that serves food, but it's basically the same menu and prices as the restaurant.) If you're planning to have a dinner down at the beach resort, definitely make reservations ahead of time. Overall, lovely stay and Sensei and would go back.

Sensei has one of the most beautiful properties we have ever stayed at; it feels like a magical garden in the jungle filled with surprising and breathtaking art. They have truly created a serene and calming destination. We loved the fitness and meditation classes, the only downside I could find was that their is just a single restaurant onsite, even though it is phenomenal we would have loved maybe one other option.

Best Wellness Retreat

This resort surpassed my expectations form service to wellness activities. The rooms are well appointed, clean, and a good size. I could spend hours walking around the property looking at the beautiful gardens and artwork. The hot tubs strategically placed in peaceful locations in the Osen Gardens. Wellness activities were amazing and can keep you active all day without leaving the property. I recommend trying the deep relaxation meditation (WOW). I left here feeling beyond relaxed and very much enjoyed my stay

Amazing hospitality!

We cannot say enough good things about this hotel! The staff knew our baby by name and was so kind and welcoming! On our baby's six month birthday, they brought us a celebratory piece of chocolate cake and mashed bananas for her! The location is ideal for accessing Lana'i City as well and the grounds are spectacular. We would love to return to the Lodge; it's truly a magical place!

Great way to celebrate!

Missed out on Lanai last year (after our Maui wedding), but made sure we made it there this year. Did our research as early as Feb and booked in April. Opted for The Lodge because Conde Nast ranks them very well and we were not disappointed. The service was truly above and beyond, their staff were very wonderful. They made us feel very welcome for the two days we were there. I would definitely recommend my Lanai, The Lodge at Koele experience.

The lodge is great, very unique location.
Restaurant inside hotel is amazing. Good service and good food. Try the Caesar salad.
Nice onsite gym.
Great moutian hike that's starts from the back of the resort. I would rate it a 4/10 for difficulty.
Nice executive putting course.

Cons
The golf course is closed at the lodge.
Rained two out of the three days we were there in May, but it did not last very long.
The two resorts do not work together! We took the shuttle down to the resort at the bay and we felt like outcast because we staying at the lodge! They kicked us and several others out of the pool area because we weren't staying at the bay. We are all paying the same amount of money to the same company, it shouldn't matter which location.

Luxury break from the heat, in Lanai

The Lodge is up country - not ocean side. It is more likely to be cloudy or rain a little there. The golf course was being resided during our stay but there were good hikes and jogging nearby. They have a nice recreation room with two big screen TVs . The food in the restaurant was excellent. Nice outdoor pool and exercise room. It was a cool day and the jacuzzi wasn't warm enough when we got in but they had someone heat it and it was nice later that day. While at the pool, they bring out free snacks every half hour. When we checked in, they took the names and ages of our children and there were little plush toy horses and cowboy hemmed shampoo, conditioner etc for them in the room.

Luxury: Stunning grounds. Wonderful food/beverages special shout out to the bar staff they were amazing and the afternoon cocktails/smoothies were spectacular. Reasonable gym boosted by helpful staff on hand with complimentary snacks and fruit water right next to the pool/spa/gym. Great housekeeping service, fresh quality linen and toiletries. The option to utilise the beach/amenities at the sister resort at Manele Bay was brilliant. The marine park a small walk away from Manele Bay was well worth the effort. Agony/room for improvement: Blank and unresponsive front desk staff (complaints were seemingly ignored and certainly not followed up at all) aside from the Duty manager. The shuttle with all given dues that it was in transition: this was a relatively expensive surcharge and an overall disappointment. This service is contracted out so service times were not strictly kept and twice we had to walk back from the town centre as the shuttle simply passed us and others by. The air conditioning in our first room was terribly weak. Not at all hotel related but hiring a car and filling it was petrol/gas was roughly twice the price of other islands. The local town's food/culture/entertainment is very basic and old fashioned. On the other hand the resort owned restaurants are classy and expensive. If you visit the island spare a night to eat at the restaurant in Hotel Lanai you will not regret it, we had planned to go once but we were compelled to visit again.

We stayed the week of Christmas. The lodge was beautiful! They had live entertainment every day, including children from the local school singing Christmas carols and seniors from the senior center singing Christmas carols another night. They had two wood burning fireplaces going at night when it was chilly outside. They also gave stockings to hang by the fireplace Christmas eve and filled them with treats for Christmas morning. It was a very warm and homey feeling!

A lovely hotel in center of Lanai

The hotel has beautiful grounds and is quiet and relaxing. The shuttle takes about 20 min. to the sister resort on the beach. We enjoyed the executive putting course, the croquet, the pool, the hottub, and the hand shuffleboard. We had some things wrong in our room (defective DVD player, broken curtains) but the things were fixed and an adjustment was made to our bill which we appreciated.

From the airport welcome to a guided tour at check-in and the friendly, personable manner the staff were faultless. Nothing was too much trouble, happy to help wherever they could. It's always nice when staff address you by name without prompting.
Quiet location with excellent gardens and grounds, the golf course looked pristine. The grounds staff could often be seen all over working hard to maintain the open spaces.
Room was lovely and spacious with a great balcony, housekeeping did a great job and took care of a few requests quickly and efficiently.

Will definitely return and shall be recommending it to friends and family.

Great resort, staff, but need some updating

Overall it was a very nice stay. Resort facility, ground, activity offering, dinning, etc. They were great! Only one downside was that the room wasn't as clean as I expected for 4 seasons. The carpet was really dirty side and had lots dirty spots. Bathroom was spacious and nice, but had lots mildew spots around tubs. And also dusty around hair dryer and mirror.

The most Aloha a hotel can provide!

I was skeptical about the price per night, but it was definitely worth it with the numerous amenities (e.g. complimentary croquet, game room, and coffee hour; fitness center; thermal pool). The lodge is a very serene venue, perfect for someone who works a strenuous career and wants to get away. The room was clean, despite its country look. The bed was absolutely the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a resort. Housekeeping always greeted us in the hallways, including other guests. The concierge team was very personal, asking us questions to see if they could recommend any activities or to see if we needed directions to the island's attractions. They even followed up with us on our activities to see how we liked it upon checking out. I'm definitely saving to return for a longer stay!

Very Relaxing!

There are two Four Seasons hotels on the island. Manele Bay is newer and on the beach. The Lodge is more on the countryside. I chose the lodge and was very happy. Although there was no water/beach around, it was very peaceful, quiet and serene. There was a shuttle every 30 minutes between the two hotels so it was perfect: I could take the shuttle to the beach, relax a little and then go back to my hotel, leaving the more \" popular\" Manele Bay to return to the more quiet, more reserved Lodge. Definitely would stay there again, very much with the nightly rate.

Over the top

Besides the magnificent natural beauty of the surroundings, the staff go over the top to please. We came 12 yrs. ago for our honeymoon, our 1st anniversary and now our 12 yr. anniversary again. I must say, they have only seemed to improve with time. It is the small things that add up to be special. We received leis upon arrival, fruit filled water served throughout our stay, fruit on a stick out at the pool, random cold wash clothes and with turndown service, our clothes were folded! All the staff were extremely friendly and always helpful. For our anniversary, our room was upgraded, dinner menus printed and messages written on chocolate along with sparkling wine served chilled! This is a perfect place to get away and do nothing but there are lots of choices in activities if you so choose. This time we drove a side by side in the mountains above the lodge, read by the pool, played miniature golf, did yoga in a pagoda and fell asleep in a hammock stargazing. I can't wait to go back!

Nice hotel, been there many times. HOWEVER, they seem to have raised the price of the shuttle service which you HAVE TO GET. There are no taxis on Lanai and no public transportation so be prepared to add another fifty dollars PER PERSON to you bill just for a ride to and from the airport. I was SHOCKED when I saw it on my bill, it used to be twenty which was still pretty outrageous.

The other Hawaii - quiet and relaxing

We had a fantastic vacation - very quiet and relaxing. NO CROWDS!! The first three days I had to work in Honolulu... its a very busy, crowded, bustling city full of tourist. Lanai - the exact opposite which was perfect for us. We enjoyed our lazy mornings on the porch with the local cat - Koelle, the golf at both the challenge and the experience - two totally different courses - no crowds - And our afternoon sunsets. The food was very good (a bit pricey) and the service unbeatable. The Lodge property was very spacious and accommodating. It was like being on our own ranch - but in Hawaii.

What a glorious and elegant place .... The Lodge at Koele far exceeded any expectations regarding beautiful accommodations. The hotel and grounds were impeccable. We enjoyed strolling around and admiring the natural surroundings. The pool was comfortable; excellent food & service at the restaurants and bar service was friendly. Everything was upbeat and positive .... however, I should mention one aspect I wasn't prepared for and that was that it was COLD up there! The Lodge is set in the highlands of the island so temps dropped approx. 10 degrees from Manele Bay (the spot where we arrived). There really isn't any ocean view at The Lodge.... and, sadly, in all its splendor, I had fleeting moments when I felt like we were at a mountain lodge or ski resort in Colorado or Utah!
There were shuttles that went between the hotels and through Lanai City so we took advantage of them and enjoyed the warmth and sunshine down below at Manele Bay....
All in all, we loved our stay at The Lodge at Koele - but in all fairness, if we should ever return, I would consider booking the Four Seasons at Manele Bay for a more tropical island experience ......

First Class Service

This was absolutely the best hotel experience I have ever had. To my surprise, the hotel shuttle stopped in both Lanai city and Manele Bay. This allowed us to fully enjoy the city and the other Four Seasons property. The hotel atmosphere at the lodge was amazing and something different from the usual beach hotel in Hawaii. When we arrived in our room, there were small plush horses on both the beds for my 3 and 5 year old. They also had their names spelled out in sponges in the bathtub. One night, we came back to chocolate milk and cookies waiting for us! I would absolutely stay here again and will tell all my friends what an amazing time we had. Truly first class service!

Great hotel for couples looking to get away

Just returned from 7 days at Four Seasons Resort, Lanai for our honeymoon. We were looking for a more quiet Island to get away. Upon arrival, the hotel staff greeted us and gave us fresh lemonade to drink while they took our bags to our room for us. The staff is amazing. They were so friendly, accommodating, and took great care of us. Our room was cleaned several times a day. There was always a concierge at the front desk willing to answer our questions and help us with anything we needed. We came back to our room several times to find treats left by the maitre d'. Anything from, chocolate covered strawberries, to bottled water, pretzels with hot mustard and cheese, mini apples pies etc. The hotel has free wifi, a room call the Trophy with two nice pool tables, foosball, shuffleboard, desktop computers available for use, massive big screen tvs for watching sports or whatever.The grounds are beautiful. There at least two private and one public 18 golf course which was perfect for amateur golfers such as ourselves to enjoy a friendly game. I should also mention that guests of the Lodge are also able to use the facilities at the Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay and there is a shuttle several times a day available to transport the guests. Everybody We encountered went out of there way to be friendly and make sure we had a great experience! I will say, the food and drinks at the hotel bar and restaurant are a little pricey but there some great local restaurants downtown Lanai

Worth it if you can afford it

Amazing resort, a ton of activities to do even if you aren't a golfer. Rooms, lounges, and gardens are all beautiful, service is top notch. Be prepared to spend though; the resort restaurants and activities pretty much all cost extra and are very pricey, but you will get quality service. My wife and I ended up going to the restaurants in the city to save some cash and try the local cuisine, but there are only 4-5 of them total and they are not open all the time.

Had we known there was going to be a production crew (they would not tell us what it was for) during the ENTIRE stay at the Four Seasons, we would not have gone during that week. Not a comped drink, not a word, nothing. It was a joke and a swarm of people with microphones, walkie talkies and ear pieces and huge booms and cameras. We live in LA and live with constant movie making and street closures here; did not need it on a lousy week vacay in the middle of what I thought was going to be the peace and serenity of a lodge on an island with a few thousand people. Should have stayed home to see TV and movies being made..
We all were horrified and dismayed that this was going on. Not a word from the hotel.

Recently stayed for 5 nights, 4 days.

Pro: beautiful grounds, closer to the city (with non-resort dining options and shops), can use the facilities at both resorts on lanai, extremely luxurious, feeling of being in a private residence, quiet, fewer children compared to the beach front resort.

Con: the Dining Room. The upscale restaurant at the Lodge. Poor quality, overly salty, flavor lacked depth. Pricy. Extremely disappointed. Not up to par with food at the Lanai City Grill. Good ingredients, but poorly prepared. We ate at 6 different establishments on the island during our visit, this was the worst meal. In fact, one of the worst meals I've had in years.

Comparing to Manele Bay resort: better for adults, more of an old money feel, has more character. Manele is geared more for children, family, and feels like a typical beach resort one can find in Caribbean.

Lovely hotel with expensive quality food

This lovely hotel is located about 1/2 hr drive from the Lanai dock and within walking distance to Lanai city. It is gorgeous and you can easily ride the resort bus if you would like an ocean swim at the sister Four Season Resort. This resort has a pretty pool and awesome landscaping. The dining here is delicious but be prepared to spend a lot since most everything is barged or flown in.

Lodge-Perfect Get Away from Everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the place if you like Quiet! Except for the birds chirping, we never heard a noise.
Beautiful wood throughout. Like staying at someone's country estate.
Food is expensive, though.
The MOST COMFORTABLE BED we ever had.

Current Day Garden of Eden

The only reason I did not give this hotel all five stars is because my husband and I like a very cool room and for the first three days we stayed there our air conditioning was not working. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was outstanding. This is not a good place to go if you are a very social person and enjoy the social night life. This is a very serene and quiet hotel and sometimes you even feel like the place was built just for you! We needed the quiet from our busy lives so it was perfect for us. Friends had come along and we had many nights of hot tubbing all to ourselves! Fitness center had newer Matrix equipment and they had fruit out for you to take after your work out and a large container of iced fruit water that they changed the kind of fruit daily. There was also an ice water container in the main hotel lobby. The pool staff continually waited on you bringing you the fresh water and occasionally a small taste of different fruit smoothies or a kabob of pineapple. We saved a bit of money going into the market in town and getting some snacks, bread, and liquor for during the day and having a nice meal somewhere at night. The maid service came in twice a day to refresh everything and brought in fresh ice morning and night. The gift shop we found was actually the best place to get gifts and various articles. We took the shuttle down to manele Bay to spend the day by the ocean. Enjoyed the peaceful surroundings so at Koehle that we only went once during the week.

Relax, revive

Very relaxing. Extremely comfortable. Many activities to keep you interested if you wish to do so. Staff very accommodating and pleasant. Meals beautifully presented- chef was outstanding in catering to my allergies of eggs & nuts. Grounds are maintained to high standard. A pleasurable experience and just what we needed after the company which I work for closed down prior to our departure.

AMAZING!!!

We loved it there so much that if we could move to the resort and live there we would have.

Pros: the lodge itself-amenities-staff-the room (we had a garden view)-the scenery- out away from all the noise-woodsy landscape- food-chochalate milk (have to try it it's unbelievable)- scones-recreation room-library- everything everything was perfect.

cons: can;t think of any, for us it was perfect, but if your looking to stay someplace that is close to the ocean then this resort because it's up in the mountain it's about 20 min away, but they offer shuttle services that takes you to the manala bay resort (their sister resort) and you can charge everything to your room at the lodge and use their facilites, ocean view lounging.

we spent our days at manala bay and our afternoons and evening at the lodge by the fire place. amazing. please keep the prices reasonable so we can visit again! Mahalo
