We stayed at the hotel the night we dold our house in France. The room was very clean and really large and comfortable. I liked the drinks on tap in recrption - a nice touch. We were really looking forward to the breakfast - the fresh bread was delicious as was the jam but the fruit salad was out of a tin the fresh orange juice was a nice idea but too messy to do the pastries were of the supermarket standard, poor, and the coffee was undrinkable! We both love and have coffee every morning but yours was horrible - we were expecting much better for the money - and although we like the hotel we would not stay again.

A surprise gem, slightly older hotel so unsure when we arrived but the staff are wonderful and the location is great, walkable (20mins down the hill and back up) to the town. A really pleasant stay.

Good hotel, good walking.

Great setting of the hotel, upon arrival we were given an upgrade of our room. Nice and very large on the ground floor. A somewhat dated room but nevertheless clean and lovely. Parking was easy and on the large grounds. A quiet area. For dinner we decided to walk into town a walk of about 25 minutes. To begin with it was downhill and then levelled out and then up the hill towards the church. We are older citizens and the walk was no major challenge more a lovely walk. The town has many choices for dinner and is a nice place to walk around. Overall the hotel was a very good choice. Breakfast was a nice affair.

Stayed one night. The lady at reception was lovely and welcoming. We booked a prestige double room for well over 100 euros with breakfasts and had the following issues:

- No air conditioning!

- Mould spots on the ceiling

- Blinds do not block out the light well.

- Broken fixtures in the bathtub and no way to keep the shower head above your own head.

- Very little toiletry accessories (no cotton buds, no shampoo, only a single tiny soap to share for two).

- Weak water pressure.

- A tiny single bottle of water in a room booked for two persons.

- No extras (no tissues, don't expect a mint or little chocolate).

Une nuitée. La dame à l'accueil était charmante et accueillante. Nous avions réservé une chambre double prestige pour au moins 100 euros avec petits déjeuners et avons les observations suivantes:

- Pas de climatisation !

- Taches de moisissure au plafond

- Les rideaux ne bloquent pas bien la lumière.

- Accessoires cassés dans la baignoire et aucun moyen de garder la pomme de douche au-dessus de votre tête.

- Très peu d'accessoires de toilette (pas de cotons-tiges, pas de shampoing, un seul tout petit savon à partager à deux).

- Faible pression d'eau.

- Une petite bouteille d'eau dans une chambre réservée pour deux personnes.

- Pas d'extras (pas de mouchoirs, ne vous attendez pas à une menthe ou à un chocolat sur l'oreiller).

Ok but not great

Room was clean but basic and tired. A new carpet would be nice. There was a strange mural painted on the wall which is harmless, but old fashioned, and the room smelt a bit musty and damp. The shower room was nice though and seemed recently renovated. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into town, on the other side of a valley, so not a level walk, but pleasant enough.

A safe and clean hotel

The Inter-Hotel Cositel Coutances is a safe and clean hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are small but adequate; the furniture and bathrooms could do with a bit of a touch up
(we had to ask for extra towels as there was only one set for two people.) The garden with pond is nice for an evening drink, the bar entirely without character except for the 50s radio. Overall, the hotel has a faded 1950s vibe and is a good place (ample free parking!) for a one or two nights’ stay in the area.

Short break

This is a great hotel for exploring the area around about with good links. Facilities are basic but adequate for the price. Some areas could do with updating and replacing. I would recommend taking a hairdryer as the fixed one in the bathroom isn’t the best. Breakfast is good if you choose the optional extra. Staff are friendly and helpful.

The Hotel would benefit from tea and coffee facilities in the room and I didn't expect to have to ask for a hair dryer when it said one was provided. The breakfast which is extra was adequate and it was nice to have fresh fruit salad however the egg boiler needs replacing as even after eight minutes the eggs were still half raw.

Pleasant hotel on outskirts of Coutances

2-night stay whilst visiting Lessay Fair, about 15 miles away. Bedroom needed some refurbishment but was clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was self-service, plentiful and good quality. Quiet location, plenty of parking, good & free wi-fi. Would stay again.

Hotel rooms were acceptable but rather tired. No mini-fridge. No AC, but windows fronting garden opened to cool evening air. Might be stuffy on warm/calm nights. Staff were helpful. A little distant to in-town things to see and do.

Great location

the hotel was perfect for our needs. It was well located within a nice area. This enabled us to get into Coutances very easily and also explore the beaches on the West coast. The garden and terrace at the hotel are lovely and we took full advantage of these during our stay to read and relax. We would happily recommend this hotel to others.

We find the Cositel in Coutances an ideal location for a short drive from Cherbourg after an early ferry. The rooms are clean and very comfortable, although this time we needed to pay for an upgrade from a standard room which was not at all satisfactory. The food and service was also good.

Nice hotel but a bit tired

Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was ok with reasonable choice but thought it was a little expensive. Definitely need a car to access the town and surrounding area. Hotel was a bit dated and would benefit from an update/refurbishment, especially corridors and public areas. Room was clean and a good size.

convenient stop-over, nothing to write home about

Hotel a bit run-down, though the rooms have been 'spiced up a bit lately. Silly shower arrangement in the bathroom (unless room with walk-in shower).
Only two English speaking TV channels.
Mostly quiet in rooms during the night. Room well set back from the main road.
Almost all staff speak English.
Restaurant very good with good selection of food and drink.
Bar a bit quiet and boring and no specific bar staff (same staff as in the restaurant which mean you may have to wait for a while to be served.)
Drinks in bar expensive.

Pleasant setting, cosy but spacious, clean room. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast very good. Two small poblems - the shower screen did not sit on top of the bath, leaving a gap of several inches for water to escape and flood the bathroom floor. Our room did not have a hairdryer and the hotel had no spares, so we had to have the key to another room to dry hair!

Friendly, quiet hotel in Coutances

Hotel was friendly, quiet, clean and well run. Our family of 2 adults, 2 young children plus a baby fitted comfortably into the hotel room. Our children enjoyed playing outside and watching the fish, while we found the free internet very useful. It was a convenient stopover on the way to the ferry at Cherbourg but next time we'll stay longer as Coutances looked very interesting. Overall the hotel provided a good level of service at a good price.

Exploring France

My wife and myself stayed at this hotel for three nights while we were exploring that part of France, we stayed in three different hotels while in France and this hotel was the best by far. The food in the restruant was excellent, we tried the evening meals the first night and found the food and variety very good and had a different meal each night and every one was the same quality. We cannot speak French but had no problems at this hotel the staff were very good.

Excellent service with good food and a satisfactory room

We were looked after very well, getting food for ourselves and friends when we arrived between meal times and friendly help when when we needed to wrap a wedding present - even receiving a gift of ribbon. The staff did not speak Enlish but worked hard to understand our French. The breakfasts we had were ample and tasty - better than most english breakfasts. The room was smaller than we expected, with a small old stain on one wall, but it was very clean and the bed was particularly comfortable. Outside was a pleasant secluded garden with carp pond and fountain.

Not bad for a short stay

Small but decent hotel. Definitely not more than a 2 star. But it does the job--clean lobby, rooms, & bathrooms. Location is ok, 5 minutes from Croutances, about 50 minutes from Granville, and just over an hour to Mont St. Michel.

Notre choix du Cositel Coutance s'est fait par rapport à la situation de la ville, et du bon rapport qualité/ prix de l'hôtel.
L'environnement très boisé est très agréable et en descendant la route vers l'hôtel on voit la Cathédrale dans l'axe ce qui est magnifique pour une photo.....
La chambre est confortable, on nous a aimablement rajouté un éclairage supplémentaire.
À Coutances en général la couverture téléphonique est médiocre et le wifi de l'hôtel ne permet pas de travailler dans les chambres.....

Une nuit tranquille chambre donnant sur le terrain derrière sans bruit même avec la fenêtre ouverte. Le seul bémol c est les autres clients qui le matin ne retiennent pas les portes en les fermant du coup réveil un peu brutal. Peut être à préciser à l arrivée des clients.

Bémol sur la qualité de la Literie

L'accueil, la chambre, la prestation générale de l'établissement étaient très convenables. Malheureusement, je suis tombée sur un lit qui, au moindre petit mouvement, grinçait d'une façon telle que je n'ai pu dormir dedans. J'ai dû me rabattre sur le canapé, puis le lits 2 places de mes enfants.
Cela a été signalé et pris en compte ; le pb n'est peut-être plus d'actualité.
(bémol aussi sur des chaînes TV non accessibles = frustration des enfants, ainsi que sur le rideau occultant qui, de part son installation éloignée de la fenêtre, laissait passer la lumière... gênant quand on n'a pas bcp dormi!)

Une heure pour avoir accès au wifi malgré les efforts du personnel, le miroir de la porte avait dû se briser il restait une matière collante sur celle-ci qui a tâché ma chemise, le verrou de la porte a bloqué à deux reprises donc obligée de demander à l'accueil de venir débloquer celui-ci. Le matelas n'était pas très confortable mais la chambre était très bien nettoyée.

Personnel sympathique et dynamique, petit déjeuner excellent et très bien approvisionné quelques soit l'heure de votre arrivée pour le prendre .(et ce n'est pas chose courante, certains Hôtels pourraient venir faire un stage pour s'améliorer....)

Siamo arrivati ci danno una camera tripla il bagno pieno di muffa con rispettiva puzza.. chiediamo alla reception di cambiare camera.. il ragazzo gentile si presta a fare il cambio per il giorno dopo... Ci consegnano una quadrupla.. anche quella piena di muffa fortuna che abbiamo fatto solo due notti... Non è consigliabile neanche se fosse gratis

Excellent séjour! Hôtel très bien tenu, très propre et calme. Personnel souriant, aimable et sachant accueillir, même tôt le matin. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour à l'hôtel Cositel.
