Mi experiencia reciente en el Hotel Gran David en Veraguas ha sido muy positiva, especialmente al notar una evolución muy favorable en comparación con mi estancia de hace tres años. El personal es sumamente amable y atento, lo que te hace sentir bienvenido desde el primer instante, y tanto las instalaciones como el buffet de desayuno son de excelente calidad. Como único punto a considerar, el hotel se encuentra justo a un costado de la Carretera Panamericana, por lo que el ruido del tráfico constante, especialmente de camiones pesados, puede ser notable; si eres de sueño ligero, recomiendo solicitar una habitación alejada de la carretera. Asimismo, la administración debería mejorar la señalización de sus estacionamientos, ya que existen plazas adicionales detrás del hotel que no resultan obvias al llegar. En general, es una opción muy sólida y recomendable en la zona por su gran servicio y oferta gastronómica.

Me quedo en este hotel por segunda vez y la atencion del personal de recepcion es super amable y las habitaciones muy limpias y confortables. No he usado las instalaciones ni la piscina ya que siempre voy de paso y hago una parada por la noche y salgo en la mañana. El desayuno es algo basico sin muchas opciones pero tampoco algo grave.

Didn’t have breakfast here. We did have lunch though. Very, very slow service for only 2 tables of 4 people ahead of us. It took one hour to get our food once we were seated. For you information crawfish is shrimp around here. Our room faced the pool, the music was super loud even though no one was in the pool. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Staff was great at check in!! Hotel is very nice and has that historic grand feel to it. Room was huge and had a very large balcony overlooking the pool. Easy to walk to the bus terminal and the stores and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic!! Fresh juices, eggs, beef and a variety of breads and traditional Panamanian fare.
Best hotel we have stayed at since traveling in Panama these past 5 weeks!! Highly recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay here again!!

Good for the price.

The pool was full of leaves and dirty, so we didn’t use it. Breakfast started late, so we didn’t go. Other than that, our one night stay was good. It’s a good price so you can overlook some of its faults. Bed is comfortable, bathroom is large, and the place is quiet.

A little confusing where to park and check in. GPS took us to the back of the property and we walked through entire hotel, pool area, restaurant etc to get to the lobby to check in. The food was great, drinks were avg. staff were kind; most don’t speak English except in restaurant so that was easy. I loved the hammock on the patio. Pool was nice and clean. The property was very pretty and I felt safe.

The pool was being maintained, so we couldn't use it. There was a sauna advertised, but when we ask about it we were told there was no sauna. The restaurant staff was inattentive and offered a confusing menu option for \"extras\" in the breakfast choice. Turns out we had to pay full price for something advertised as extras because we had already selected the \"included in the price\" breakfast option. Yeap....confusing. The food was below average. You can find better options at a local fonda.

Pros: Check-in was simple and quick. Our room was clean and beds were comfy.
Cons: The pool was out of order however this was unknown to us until we actually made are way to the pool. Nothing was mentioned during check-in nor prior to our arrival.
Breakfast was simple but tasty the only problem is that staff seemed disinterested in serving us. We were not offered water, asked how the food was, we got nothing. Part could be because our Spanish is not great but we do know enough to have a basic conversation. We noticed this with other gringos but the same treatment was not given to locals.
Overall not a great hotel, next visit to Santiago I will try the Hotel Mykonos and give that a try.

Okay for an overrnight

The hotel is nice, but on a very busy road. Must be a slight decline in the road as large trucks regularly used their air brakes to stop - very loud! We slept with earplugs. Would recommend requesting a room that doesn't face the front. Our room was very clean and large enough for a couch to fit. Wifi did reach our room. We also had a safe in our room. Nice size closet but NO hangars, so fairly useless. It was only an overnight stay so not a big deal for us. Enjoyed the complementary breakfast. The incredibly friendly staff that's been mentioned must not have been working when we checked in as she couldn't have been much less welcoming. The pool is beautiful but we didn't use it. If you're in the mood for good Mexican food, head to Mariachis Taqueria. Small and cute courtyard and very friendly staff

The only downsides were the absence of wifi in the room, and language barrier. I get it, it's their country, but the hotel details states English as a covered language. Overall an excellent value. We enjoyed our stay and will return. Of course after we learn more Spanish. LOL

It’s a little overpriced for what it offers. The room Ingot assigned smelled like dust, the TV wasn’t programmed for YouTube or other streaming apps and you had to update it and it still didn’t work. The ac remote I got wasn’t the correct one. Breakfast buffet was okay, some options were cold (they had them in Dutch ovens but the food was cold).

Excelent choice in Santiago

They gave us options to change our room at no extra cost since the room we choose is very close to the street, the lady at the front desk was very helpful. The room had a patio and a hammock in front of the pool. The restaurant is very good, the food was delicious. Breakfast was basic not lot of options but it was great. The hotel is close to restaurants and shops. The service was excellent, polite and friendly. Would come again.

Really large room with everything you may need (except, maybe a mini-bar, but this is not common in Panama: you can fill up the fridge by yourself that's much cheaper to.
The small area around the pool looks pretty.
Good breakfast but the restaurant was cold like inside a fridge - too much cooling with over 30 C. outside.
Neither a nice not a short walk to town center but it seems there's nothing closer except for very few and basic hostel acomodation. But you can catch buses and taxis right in front of the hotel

The hotel was virtually empty, but they gave us rooms right beside, the highway transport trucks, revving their engines, Jake, brakes and loud motorcycles all night long

why they gave us these rooms when there were so many other empty rooms. Is extremely disappointing.

We stopped for the night twice, on our way to and from Boqueta. The hotel is conveniently located next to a bus depot, so it was easy to get in and out. The rooms were clean enough, and the bed was comfortable. The first night was the best; on our second visit, we had trouble getting towels and water, and there was a very loud party, with DJ music, that went on until evening in the pool area. The pool is lovely, and we were disappointed not to have quiet use of it after a long day of travel. That being said, the hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. A special thanks to our evening waiter, David, whose conversation and patience with our poor Spanish made the stay most enjoyable.

The property has a very road side hotel feeling as it is right off a major artery.
Communication was an issue as no one could properly speak or understand English.
Room was clean. Bed was very comfortable.
Just some minor enhancements would go a long way;
1. There is no internal telephone directory e.g. housekeeping/reception/restaurant
Menu in English would be helpful
There should be a garbage bin in the room as well

For this price not the best option

The sistem for the doors was collapsed and they were not able to fix it until we left. so we always had to ask the reception to open our room.
The brakefest was not a good surprice. It was included at our rate, but the selection was very small and for orange juce you need to pay extra.

What they offered for the price we have paied was really disappointing

Horrible place, bad service, falsie advertising

Where do I start? Smells of mold and sewage, key card doesn’t work, no water (hot or cold) for shower or toilet, and very noisy. Advertised with a swimming pool but the pool was under long term construction and unavailable. In room fridge didn’t work. No bottled water supplied. Service staff are indifferent to the problems and just shrug.

Could have been a 5 star. The good: probably the best meal I have paid for in Panama. The beef filet was just wonderful. The free breakfast chorizo and onions had me by surprise also. The staff service was also very good. They were attentive without hanging around. The coffee and drinks are at par with any good establishment. The bad: I reserved online with Expedia after they reserved, charged and sent me to another closed, under reconstruction hotel. (That's already been posted. I haven't been refunded yet.) Arriving at the Gran David I was assigned a tiny room that was nothing like the pictures of a large suite with a sofa. Returning to the front desk and showing them the pictures I was provided with the room I had paid for. It was almost totally acceptable. The ugly: While the staff were without fault and attentive in giving guests access to their rooms it is unacceptable to have to let the front desk know every time I need to get into my room. The pass key service was not working. Finally and most gross was the shower head with some kind of black goop on it. I managed to scrub it off with one of towels.

All in all though I would return the Gran David again because or the Wonderful Staff and Excellent Food.

Great location close to the highway and shopping. Quick walk to avenida central and lots happening. The room was big and comfortable and clean. Staff were attentive BUT their card maker wasn't working and so I had to have them let me into my room every time i went out - a bit inconvenient. Also the a/c remote didn't work so i was either freezing or hot. Small attention to detail could have made it better. Overall, good value for money and I'd use it again!

Little oasis for hwy 1 travellers

A road side hotel for a one night stand

The hotel does the job for one night stay. Breakfast is limited to one serving, but the quality is ok.

In general, the hotel is a bit worn out and out of date. No trash bins in the room, no hooks, or proper storage space in the bathroom. Reminds a lot of an American highway motel.

Highly recommend .Walk out your room back door directly into pool, huge elegant room, hamac outside door. amazing food in restaurant. very reasonably priced rooms and food. next to 2 large shopping areas, gas station and tons of other dining areas. walking distance from all. we loved the hotel so much we opted to stay there and hang out vrs shopping. staff and faciltiy we beautiful. will be back.

When we first arrived, I noticed how musty the room smelled. We did have a nice the view from our patio was of the pool and landscaping, however the hammocks and patio furniture has all been removed. That night, we noticed a large puddle of water in the room. It had come in due to the rain and lack of waterproofing between the patio and that corner of the room. When it rained, quite a bit of water came into our room from the patio.

On Saturday, there was some event, and the music was so loud inside our room it was ridiculous. There was a large group of kids running up and down the halls, with no adult or staff to keep the noise down. Then, at 9pm, someone started banging on drums as loud as they could. It was so loud, it even drowned out the party (and loudspeakers) that was going on.

When they key in my room didn’t work, I had to take it to get reprogrammed. I was not even asked for my name or ID. I could have told them any room, and walked in and stole whatever I wanted. I mentioned it to the clerk, and ended up with a blank stare…as in “what do you want me to do about it”.

it's a beautiful hotel, close to downtown Santiago, with a very nice pool. unfortunately, it's also a wedding venue and we experienced loud music & people till 1am + we had a hard time finding a parking spot because the place was crowded.
