I have high expectations of paradores. Puebla de Sanabria met my expectations. The receptionist arranged for an on time taxi to get me to the station (see below), and even advised me that an imminent fire alarm was just a drill (I was in the garden reading). I didn't have breakfast, but dinner was very good. The property is just a few minutes from the bridge below the stunning castle. Puebla de Sanabria is a truly lovely village. (Note: I was there on weekdays in early October. I don't know about summer weekends!)

Note that if you arrive on a long distance train, the station is quite far away, there's no sidewalks for much of the way, and I didn't see a taxi coming or going. You need to get a hotel to book one, or do it yourself, in advance. (A lovely resident on my arriving train saw my plight and bailed me out. I am grateful for that.)

a hidden gem

This Parador was a hidden gem. Modern, extremely comfortable, and reasonably priced. Breakfast was the usual buffet with fresh fruit and breads. Staff was friendly and understood english.

Our room looked out to the old castle across the river (great to view at night when lit up). Our bed was very comfortable, and the room very clean. Bathroom was spacious.

We have stayed at other Paradors, and found this one in Puebla de Sanabria to be slightly superior to the others. Its worth the stay.

Worthy a stay if you’re visiting Sanabria

The hotel was a short 15 minute walk from the center of town. The outdoor pool wasn’t open yet, but I’m sure would be great on a hot summer day. The buffet breakfast surprisingly included a la carte eggs available to order. The rest of the buffet seemed a little less expansive than other Paradores we’ve stayed at.

We can’t say enough about the staff at the hotel. Extremely attentive to our needs even when feeding our baby. The staff gave us a great lunch recommendation in town and tips to see the lake.

We had a most enjoyable stay at this hotel. It was a bit of a walk to the castle over the river from the hotel, but we needed the exercise and fresh air after driving from Tordesillas that morning.

Good hotel

It was close to the village (nice walk) and to the places of interest we were visiting. Rooms were clean and spacious and staff friendly and helpful regarding \"where to go/see\"... would recommend..

Lovely stay

Nice modern paradox in a very beautiful area. Room clean and tidy and with a view of castle. Third bed was a sofa bed with thin mattress but we were given an additional one promptly on request. Air con didn'the work well. Good breakfast. Helpful desk staff. Would stay again.

Great location

The Paradore de Puebla de Sanabria is a short walk to the wonderful old town. This paradore is modern, without much character. However, the rooms are large and well appointed and the staff is wonderful

Quiet, peaceful Parador a short walk outside beaut

Large, comfortable room and bath, a short walk outside the walls of this medieval town. We waled into town each morning and evening to eat, and stayed two nights to take a hike up to a pretty lake with snow at the upper levels, even in May. Wonderful relaxing spot, only 2.5 hours from Santiago de Compostela.

Great Puebla de Sanabria hotel next to old town

Ideal stop over when touring. Puebla de Sanabria is a delightful ancient town on a hill. The hotel looks across the river to the old town and the castle and church high up. The hotel is quiet, scrupulously clean and modern. The staff are all courteous, interested, attentive and helpful.

La habitación limpia y espaciosa, igual que el baño, aunque había un bicho en la pared de la habitación. Después vimos algún bicho más de esos, muerto, en la entrada de uno de los ascensores.

El desayuno, excelente pero pasamos un momento bochornoso, cuando una de las personas de la cafetería, cuando acabamos de desayunar, vino detrás de nosotros, diciendo en voz alta, delante del resto de personas que se encontraban allí que teníamos que abonar el desayuno, cuando este entraba en la oferta del alojamiento. Nos quedamos volados con la indiscreción de esta persona.

No volvería a este establecimiento.

Hotel muy recomendable

Llegamos en fiestas, por lo que fue un acierto alojarnos en el Parador. Al estar un poco alejado del centro pudimos descansar bien.
Estancias muy correctas y cómodas.
Baño amplio, pero con el inconveniente de tener bañera en vez de ducha.
Un punto positivo es que dispone de un amplio aparcamiento.

El alojamiento perfecto,sin embargo con Expedia es mi primera y mi última vez que reservo con ellos.Despues de reservar 2 habitaciones con su pago por adelantado,una de las habitaciones nos la quitaron ,después de más de dos horas de llamadas para poder solucionarlo,al final y porque el hotel mediò, nos pudieron realojarnos en una habitación para personas con movilidad reducida la cual era bastante inferior a la otra habitación que teníamos reservada.El trato del hotel ha sido impecable y super profesional pero en cuanto a Expedia conmigo ha perdido un futuro cliente y con mi experiencia no se lo recomendaría a nadie

Parador muy agradable

Parador muy agradable. Por fuera no tiene nada especial, pero por dentro está muy bien decorado y muy acogedor.
El personal muy amable. A destacar la chica que había de \"socorrista\" en la piscina, que repartía también las toallas. Muy amable y muy pendiente de todos.
La habitación correcta.
La ubicación... está fuera del centro histórico de Puebla de Sanabria. Para llegar al centro son unos 15 minutos caminando, pero con unas buenas cuestas o escaleras.

Parador renovado con instalaciónes modernas y confortables. Excelente limpieza. Parking gratuito cerrado.

Lo único malo es que coincidimos con el Zamora CF y sus jugadores algunas veces no llevaban puesta la mascarilla o ponían los pies encima de los muebles del salón.

De haber sabido que estaban NO hubiera ido y habría escogido otra opción.

Buen descanso

Hotel en un entorno fantástico. Camas cómodas, lencería buenísima. Baños amplios limpios y luminosos. Hay algún pasillo que tiene unos escalones y ello puede resultar algo incómodo si vas muy cargado. Es un hotel para estar una o dos noches y visitar la zona, porque carece de servicios como piscina o spa.

Funcional y buen descanso

Habitación amplia. La decoración es sobria. Necesita algo más de decoración, para conseguir un ambiente acogedor. El baño completo, amplio(también depende un poco de la habitación que te toca) y un buen punto a favor muy luminoso por fín te puedes maquillar sin\"adivinar\"¡ ya que está de moda poner muy poca luz. La insonorización no es muy buena, pero tampoco supone un problema grave. Para mí gusto el colchón un poco duro., pero mi marido lo encontró perfecto, así que depende de los gustos. Las sábanas son una maravilla, dan una sensación de confort, excelente así como el juego de almohadas, ya que dispones de 2 cuadrantes en el armario de lo más cómodos. Los empleados depende de quién te toque. Me he encontrado con personal muy agradable unas veces y otras con personas muy secas.
