Absolutely loved our stay here. All the staff including the manager go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect. Rooms are clean and the food very good and very reasonable priced. We came mainly for the spa which again is excellent. However it’s the location on the waters edge with well kept gardens that really adds to the ‘feel good factor’ I was taken out on the kayaks which is something I would highly recommend especially at dusk/sunset where you can really appreciate the beauty of where you are. The half hour boat trip included in the cost of your stay is also highly recommended. Overall highly recommend.

A lovely backwater stay. Beautiful grounds. We really enjoyed the boat ride. The restaurant was the only disappointment. Despite repeated communication that one person did not want hot food and assurances that they would alter the food, it was still too spicy hot to eat.

Lovely location and great food

The room had everything we needed but the beds are very firm and the doors -and windows have significant gaps when closed allowing noise, insects etc into the room.
Reception staff and management were brilliantly helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Relaxing few days at the Fragrant Nature. Superb location and wonderful staff. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Take advantage of the sunset kayak trip through Mangrove Safari just across the road. If you like to walk, seek out the Meenad-Polachira trail by the Polichira lake.

This resort was a dream. The property is gorgeous. Incredibly well maintained. The staff are very attentive and helpful. I had spa treatments every day with Shiva and she was absolutely amazing! The hotel manager, Rahul, helped organize two day trips and my ride to the train station. I would highly recommend this resort! 👍

Beautiful resort with great staff and pool

Amazing resort with great staff, a little in the middle of nowhere but that was a good thing for just relaxing. Great pool although on the first day we couldn't get a lounger (low season and empty resort) as there was some sort of corporate function going on. The highlight was a private fish BBQ diner at the lakeside coffee house, was excellent. We stayed two nights but didn't get much sleep the first night as there was something banging and dragging about in the loft, we were fairly terrified. We told the staff the next day and they switched us to another room which was nice although maybe didnt makeup for the lack of sleep so 4 stars instead of 5 (think it was a Civet).

If you need to unwind and unplug, don’t think twice. Just book. The property is beautiful. I was traveling alone as a single American woman and was completely safe. The spa was heavenly. The boat ride was amazing. The staff were very welcoming. The room was very large and clean with a great view. I hope to come back for a time out again soon.

Serene stay, perfect!

We had a lovely peaceful stay at the Fragrant Nature. The location was beautiful, the resort itself was very well maintained and had stunning views all around. Staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to help us (we left an item after check out and they even dropped it off at the next town for us!). Food was delicious, and amenities were also great. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return!

Great place to relax and re-center

We had an amazing relaxing getaway there. The room (one of the villas) was beautiful. The balcony looking out on the water was my favorite place to hang out. The service was top notch. Our yoga instructor was delightful. He pushed us, made us feel super comfortable and had a great sense of humor. The boat tour through the backwaters was awesome, although the tour of the town/beach/lighthouse left a lot to be desired. Food was delicious and I felt like they really tried to make sure we were comfortable there. The pool was lovely, as was the massages we got.

Lovely hotel located on the banks of the lake. The lakeside seafood restaurant is too expensive. The grounds, facilities, and hotel are maintained well and the staff is well trained. We felt comfortable and at home. There's not much to do other than enjoying the facilities at the hotel and a boat ride in the lake. Great place for a quiet getaway.

Excellent resort set in the backwaters. While remotely located (for India), this is an ideal location to rest and relax away from the frantic and hectic pace that can be found in most parts of India. Staff were superb, and the views / setting from the bungalows was simply outstanding. Meals were excellent, and in a wonderful setting. Grounds and buildings were well kept. Highly recommended for a break away from it all, as there is little to do nearby.

Poor service, out of the way.

We made reservation at this hotel because of high rating at hotels.com and we were very disappointed. Hotel was located very far from main road, staff could not give appropriate directions to the driver so it took over 1 hour to find it. When we arrived after midnight room was not prepared, dirty linen was still there. Staff had to drive somewhere to find clean linen, and room was not cleaned at all.. Staff was very incompetent. In the morning breakfast was mediocre. It's a shame because location of the hotel was on the lake and could have been different experience. I would NOT recommend to stay here!

Beautiful setting, gardens lovely and very well maintained. Lovely view from the room and from the restaurant, pool area lovely.
Further out from Kollam than stated on expedia - 22kms not 11kms and with traffic, can take 45 minutes to get there.
Final bill significantly more than quoted- additional taxes add almost 25%.
Taxi from hotel cost 1500rupees; ordered our own and it cost 700rupees. Restaurant food average.
Beautiful location and staff very attentive.

Nice and Serene Property

Stay was very nice. The staff is extremely helpful. The food at the Sunset bar was excellent. Breakfast buffet was satisfactory but the chef was very helpful and considerate . He used to make whatever ordered. The only setback was that I got my booking done thru Hotels.com for the Pool Villa for two nights which they denied after the booking was completed and approved . They gave me the Pool Villa only for one night and for the other night they gave me a small room . Even the calculations on the payment receipts are so confusing and complicated with so many taxes that the issue of payment has not been resolved till now . They have overcharged us for the pool villa and the settlement room.

Very scenic location. The staff are very helpful. Good ayurvedic massages at the spa. The food was freshly made. There are a few temples across the lake that play devotional music that can be heard at the hotel. One gets used to it but would have been better without it; more peaceful.

Really really specc grounds. Room could be better.

The grounds of this hotel are spectacular. Much better than expected. The room was larger than expected though it felt slightly old/shabby. Super clean. Water pressure in the shower was really disappointing for a place of this size and the internet didn't work at all. Great staff though. Great pool. Also paddle boats you can take out to watch the sunset on the lake. Would recommend though the place could do with a refresh.

Worth the money

The experience was worth the money. Our lake view room was extremely comfortable and relaxing. Free pedal boats are offered to explore Paravur lake. Food quality was good. The only annoying part was music from some local festival nearby, else the place was very peaceful.

Fragrant Nature is set in a beautiful secluded location by the Paravur lake. Although the road to approach the resort is in a poor condition, once you are within their boundaries, it is an idyllic place. The swimming pool and boating facilities are good. If you are looking for lots of activities, this is not the place.

The staff are very helpful, the food is good and the accomodation is very good. Although I would not rate the resort as a luxurious place, I would rate it as an excellent place for nature lovers. The pricing looks right.

It's no where near Kollam so with out a car for get about going to another place for lunch or dinner.
All the amenties are perfect , beautiful place.
Good place to forget that you in India.
Their driver took me for back river three hour canoe ride which was an expensive waste of time.
Later that day more impressed going local AC restaurant & local Hindu temple.

Fragrant Resort - Honeymooner's paradise

We took the room by the lakeview, and the view from our room was marvelous, the room was spacious and they provided daily need toiletry for free (Shaving kit, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Hair oil, Soap, Comb, Talcum powder, moisturizer).

I would recommend this hotel to everyone, and its a quiet place to spend time with your loved one.

Amazing Escape From it All

I want to qualify what a couple other reviews said about this hotel. 1) they do now serve alcohol, so don't worry about that, and they would go into town and get anything you need for you 2) It's not entirely in the middle of no where - but if you want to do a lot of sight seeing stay in Trivandrum, this is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the view. My husband and I stayed here as stop on a three week trip in Southern India and we absolutely loved it. After a week of the hustle and bustle of the city we wanted a break and this was a great place to do just that. We spent afternoons swimming in their pool and evenings relaxing and watching the sunset. Don't come here expecting to be in the middle of everything, come here to relax and enjoy. The staff is great, very attentive. It was my husbands birthday while we were there and they went above and beyond. The front desk greeted us with a bouquet, housekeeping decorated our room with flowers, and the kitchen set up a private candle lit dinner by the water for us, they even baked a full size birthday cake with his name on it. It was beyond special. The spa treatments were amazing as well, I highly recommend them. My only complaint is the food is a bit pricy for Indian standards (ask the price first if you order off the menu), but compared to Western prices it is still less than what we would pay at home. But overall I was very happy with the large variety to choose from and the food quality.

A very relaxing place to stay.

We stayed in one of the lakeside rooms, which was very nice. It was clean, comfortable and had a very nice view of the waterway. The restaurant serves very nice food and it manager was very helpful is explaining and suggesting very tasty meals. All of the staff are very helpful and professional.

It has a few boats that we took out to explore the lake and waterways. We also used it as a base to visit the beach, since from our experience, the hotels on the cliffs and north of Varakala were expensive and very tacty.
