In general, this hotel exceeded our expectations and I whole-heatedly recommend. Clean rooms, nice lobby, friendly staff. The breakfast is not fancy, but it hit the spot and we enjoyed it. They are located right next to a stop on the Red Line, which makes getting to other parts of the city super easy. My only complaint is there is a mandatory \"resort fee\" when really the price should just be the advertised price. Breakfast is not exactly \"included\" and it's not exactly \"free wifi\" if they charge $25. I still give 5 stars.

The room was beautiful and refreshingly not cookie‑cutter, and the lobby had a similar character—very pleasant to sit and relax in. Breakfast was truly excellent. The location couldn’t be closer to MIT, which was crucial for me. The only downside is that the building is older, so you can hear footsteps from the room above and people talking in the hallway. Not ideal if you’re a light sleeper.

Everything about this hotel is just delightful. We, as grandparents, traveled with our kids and 4 grandsons. The reception staff is truly welcoming and helpful. Every question was cheerfully and correctly answered. The restaurant staff was so efficient and greeted us each morning. The cleaning staff always had a smile, and kept everything nice and tidy. We couldn't have felt more welcome!

The room cooling did not work and it was hot. I think it was the time of season and an old building where they have to switch it over. I was disappointed that there was an event at the restaurant and my daughter who was undergoing treatment and I could not eat there. The staff was very apologetic and friendly.

Love this hotel! The complimentary breakfast was excellent, the room was clean and the hotel was very convenient -- a 5 minute walk--from the MIT conference I was attending. Great restaurants close by. The windows open--so good ventilation too. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Kendall is so unique and lovely. It’s so fun to see the history and the relics of the old firehouse that are tastefully placed throughout the hotel. The breakfast was fresh and delicious and the staff was helpful and friendly. It’s close to the train and downtown Cambridge. We loved the place and would stay again.

Everyone working was so nice and helpful. We had a nice quiet room. We were so close to MIT and the T. Getting around town was simple. There are several restaurants and bakeries close by. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and came with the room. The lobby is a nice spot to relax. And the have a bag check service so if you arrive before check in you don’t have to haul your bags all over town.

We always read the reviews. Cleanliness was mentioned in every one but the location is great, it’s next to the MIT museum and campus. We were there for our granddaughter’s rowing race against MIT . The Kendall MBTA stop is less than one block making travel to and from downtown Boston and Cambridge easy. We stayed on the 7th floor where there is a solarium that’s open with your pass fab, nice spot . The breakfast was excellent for a small hotel buffet. So we will go back and stay for the next race on the Charles .

The morning of my departure the elevator key didn’t work. I went and spoke with Alberta at the front desk and he said there was something wrong with the elevator and if I wanted to go to each floor I would have to come back to the front desk each time and have him come accompany me to the elevator. So I wasn’t able to use the rooftop also this took like over 15 minutes to sort out I think he didn’t believe me at first when I told him to you the key wasn’t working because he he told me to follow him to the elevator I guess he said he keep my key but then he saw for himself that the actual elevator key Didn’t work so that’s when he said well I would have to go every time I want to come down and go back up I would have to go to the front desk ask him to come with me and you know have him select it correct floor for me. This is hugely inconvenient on top of this they charge for a resort fee $29 but they weren’t able to offer to full amenities. The day I came here they said only one gym was working and it’s a gym not on the property it’s somewhere on another block and they said the gym was closed at 5 PM that day so yeah and I will try to remedy this with the front desk and they said they couldn’t fix it for me

Everything was just wonderful.Tucker greeted us at the front desk. he was super nice, accommodating and knowledgable. We had a beautiful room, comfortable, large, with coffee, fridge, robes. The hotel is small but beautifully decorated, very charming full of antiques. Feels authentic. Breakfast in the morning has great choices . It was fun eating in the restaurant with people circulating through the lobby. I loved everything about it.

Did a lot of research for my first visit to Boston, and I’m so glad we chose the Kendall Hotel - it was exceptional. I especially loved that it’s a historic hotel, which gives it so much character compared to the standard high-rise, cookie-cutter hotel rooms. The location can’t be beat, with easy access to public transportation and very walkable streets. That convenience aside, parking was a bit steep since we had a car with us.

For the ambiance, it was a couples trip, and the hotel felt quite romantic, esp. over the 4th of July weekend. We also enjoyed the nice breakfast each morning. The hotel room itself, while not very spacious, was lovely and charming with the decor. The bathroom isn’t the most recently renovated, but it was still clean, and the housekeeping service was wonderful. Highly recommended!

The room was incredibly warm. Heat was on full time. I was told by desk staff that there is no AC in the room and that I could open a window if it was too warm. Otherwise the property was fine. There was little value for the price.

Also, and I don’t understand why this has to be so difficult, there was terrible lighting in the bathroom, which made it impossible to apply make up with any reliability. At the very least the hotel needs to upgrade the bathroom lighting.

Great front desk service but a terrible room

The front desk service was warm, friendly, and accommodating. They apologized upfront from Hotels.com's sneaky fine print extra fee of $30 that they said almost no one sees until they're taken by surprise. They offered to bring us a roll-a-way bed for my son for FREE because they felt bad. They were all so very kind.

The room, however, was a different story. The view was of a brick building 15 feet away. The AC didn't work on a hot day and it was like a sauna in there. My son and I had trouble sleeping because it was so hot. And the bathroom reeked of a combination of urine and mildew, and the shower curtain was covered in a straight line of black mildew (or mold?) along the bottom. For over $500 a night, which was a really rare treat for us, I expected something so much more comfortable.

The charm of this hotel begins as you enter the front doors. The concierge were very helpful and allowed us to check our luggage in the morning before check in. The King sized bed and couch were very comfortable. The breakfast included was very good and plentiful with a lot of options. Our only regret was we never made it up to the top floor enclosed roof study, reading room.

The Kendall hotel is a gem to find over by MIT.
Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. The lobby was charming and beautifully styled, with a quaint vibe that really highlighted the hotel’s unique setting in an old firehouse. The overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were excellent—friendly and very helpful. Parking was convenient, with a small garage just around the corner. Even though we arrived late to breakfast, there was still plenty available, and it was delicious with lots of options.
Across the street is the T station, so you can get anywhere around the city. We would definitely come back here again and I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone
