Hotel location directly on the central plaza is amazing. All Old Town Quito attractions are within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is stunning, beautiful historic decor. Room was beautiful. The best part of our stay however was the staff, so warm and welcoming. They paid attention to every detail and provided great service. Breakfast was delicious, wish we could have stayed longer

The location in historic town center was very convenient to sites and excursions, however it was noisy at night. The church bells rang at 3am, etc...which interrupted a good night's rest. The room was spacious and had a lot of charm-the king size bed was extremely hard and not comfortable. There was one concierge throughout our stay (he checked us in) who was very attentive, helpful and professional...wish we remembered his name. It was nice to have the restaurant in the same building as the room. The food was decent.

Hotel Plaza Grande is centrally located to what we wanted to see in 'Old Town' Quito. Our beautifully decorated suite was very comfortable and had great views of Plaza Grande and beyond (magical at dusk). Most of all we felt very safe and secure. This immaculate and charming hotel is the best location bar none as a base to explore Quito’s historic center. We had a gorgeous room facing the plaza so we could enjoy a terrific view and watch the people in this busy and most beautiful square. All staff were competent, professional, and pleasant and handled our questions perfectly. Many thanks for the wine, macarons, and chocolate awaiting us on check-in as well as the water bottles and coffee maker in the room! Restaurant was really good, too. Huge thanks to the front desk staffer who arranged for a private driver and tour guide for us on the day we checked out. We got to see everything we wanted! This was our first time in South America and Hotel Plaza Grande was the perfect introduction to the continent, Ecuador, and Quito.

A Bad Experience in Quito

On the plus side, it is very beautifully decorated, our room was quite large and there were lots of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. We received a bottle of wine and some chocolate when we checked in, and the people at the front desk were very nice. But the negatives certainly overshadowed the positives, considering how much we paid for the room. The air conditioner was barely adequate, although we turned it down as low as possible, so we spent two uncomfortable nights. One of the main reasons for booking the hotel was to eat in their lovely restaurant, We even thought we made a reservation for our first night. However. when we checked in , we discovered that the restaurant had been closed for months and the only available restaurant was little better than a coffee shop, although they did serve dinners. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was very limited, with most of the other offerings an additional cost. Even at more modest hotels, we have enjoyed very nice buffets with many choices, but not at this hotel. And finally, our trip ended on a very negative note. The hotel is on a pedestrian street so we, with all of our luggage, walked to the corner with the bellman to meet our car. He didnt have a cart so we carried everything. While we were standing there someone took one of our bags, unfortunately the one with the presents we were bringing back home. The hotel never bothered to reach out to me afterwards, which would have been appreciated.

It was the perfect classic hotel in the old city and unique being right next to the presidential palace and so close to all the interesting sites in the old city. It is a unique hotel with great staff and the menu is excellent too reflecting Ecuadorian food at very reasonable prices.

We just could not fault thus hotel.

Furthermore they recommended a private guided tour company who also transferred us to and from the airport and our guide Andres was brilliant for our 3 days of touring a quite remarkable and under exposed tourist destination.

I cannot thank the hotel staff enough for making the basis for our short vacation to Quito and the surrounding areas so memorable.

MUST STAY IN QUITO! Great spot in Quito historic Center. The hotel goes above and beyond!! We were greeted with welcome drinks as well as a complimentary bottle of Ecuador wine and special Ecuador chocolates brought to the room. Staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. One day there was a problem getting into our room and they immediately brought us a complimentary drink and the issue was fixed in under 5 minutes. They provided a late check out for us and were super accommodating with our late night departure. Nothing but great things to say about the hotel and staff!! Complimentary breakfast was delicious as well!!! Room was big and beautiful!! Definitely “royal”. You will love your stay here!

The location was excellent, the property was gorgeous and the staff were welcoming. We arrived at 10:00pm after a long day of traveling and just wanted to relax. Unfortunately there was a party on the rooftop with music so loud we actually had to shout to hear each other In the room. We repacked and checked out after one hour of torture, losing the non refundable prepayment. The staff kindly offered a different room but the walls of the elevator were shaking on the way down to the lobby. I recommend you check if there is a party scheduled if you intend to book for a weekend. We transferred to the Marriott which was not as conveniently located or as classically designed but was an island of tranquility in comparison.

Amazing hotel! The service is outstanding. They were so flexible with the parking and checking in and put times. Additionally, we were leaving very early, before they open the restaurant, and they put together a breakfast for us. The room was very comfy and had a huge bathroom with a bathtub, perfect to relax after a long day. The location can’t be any better. Main museums and many churches are a 5 min walking distance. The restaurant at the hotel is amazing and has traditional Ecuadorian food. There are other restaurant near by too. I would definitely come back to this beautiful hotel !

Food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner were first class and staff here too were very professionsl and helpful.

Overall, this hotel can be regarded as a jewel. The only drawback is that it does not have a parking facility and guests mus use a public car park 100m away.

Awesome location! Had a problem getting there since the Festival of Lights was going on and the police would not let us through. However, the hotel operators put us up in the Swissotel in the financial district, which was lovely. However, we really wanted to be in the historical area. The property is in the perfect spot to enjoy the historical area. We were upgraded to the presidential suite which was magnificent. Perfect view of Plaza de la Independencia. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms were very large with incredible bath tubs. The spanish Colonial architecture and furnishings are just beautiful. The Staff was very attentive and accomodating. They were also very helpful with transportation and information.
