Room was lovely clean and warm although traffic woke us at about half 4 /5 o clock but it didn’t ruin our stay perhaps earplugs in the room would be good

She was straight on the problem with WD40 but to no avail, she put on a new seat soft close too
She served us dinner drinks & breakfast on our 1st well done

A quaint gem in Golspie

The accommodation is a quaint inn located in very close proximity (minutes drive) to Dunrobin Csstle. The building is old (floor creaks) but had an updated bathroom. The room was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The staff were great: attentive, friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a meal at the inn’s restaurant. For such a small establishment, the food offerings were quite varied, and very tasty.

Staff very helpful. Bin in bedroom hadn’t been emptied from last guests. Slopping floors ment head was lower than feet so had to move pillows to opposite end of bed without headboard. Cracked window pane.

Extremely disappointing. Hot water for showering almost non existent. The room, while large, had a smell of mold and was visible in the windows. We were supposed to get breakfast but on the second morning the breakfast room was locked up and no staff to be found so we left with no breakfast. Our advice….find another place

Arrived and thought I had booked a run down hotel - first appearance not good - overgrown gardens - not been cared for - needs outside maintenance ie gutters - new windows - car park tidied. Booked in - not the most professional approach. Stairs to room and lots of steps- room was clean - one or two issues that could have easy been rectified. Mattress fine - pillows could have been softer but that’s a personal choice. For being a 4 star poor WiFi resulting in poor TV coverage . Breakfast - not much choice on menu - took the cooked full breakfast - scramble eggs were inedible - tattie scone drenched in oil looked like it had been deep fried - bacon overcooked - poor quality sausage. Dining room had a leak in roof due to heavy rain . Dinner was okay again not much choice . Same board meals next day. One particular member of staff was quite rude to other guests and noted a couple left when given wrong coffee and server more or less said well I’m trying my best - it was out of a machine she could have given the proper coffee instead of having a go at the guest.
Dining chairs need to be repaired and maintained. Entrance area parquet floor needs scrubbed paint stops all over it . Lastly staff were mainly nice and pleasant - manageress needs to be a bit more professional in her attitude.

The hotel on arrival looked run down. The bedroom was ok. Bedding was clean. Shower and windows had black mould. And plug in hand basin could have been cleaner. One member is staff (dark hair and glasses) was friendly and helpful. Dinner was awful. Being on the coast I ordered fish & chips. When it arrived the batter was very dark making me wonder was the oil dirty or was it over cooked. However when I cut into it the batter was so thick and uncooked that I had to send it back. The second attempt didn’t look much better and it wasn’t. I scrapped the batter off and attempted the fish which was tasteless. Breakfast was ok although quite greasy.

Expensive for a property of this quality. The single room has an en-suite with a bizarre design, the toilet positioned directly in front of the sink so that it is impossible to stand at it. Overall, an adequate hotel that is more expensive than it should be.

Disappointing!!!

Hotel is very “tired”. Marks on wall where bedheads had been rubbing on wall. Wallpaper peeling under window and cobwebs in the shower. Also a pile of dirty towels left on the floor on arrival. On the up side the food was excellent. Light on stairwell not working and cracked window panes on single glazing windows. Hotel needs a lot of work and would NOT stay again

Hotel is well placed on NC500. Spent 2 nights here. Like several other hotels used this showed evidence of recent upgrading and decoration. Food was good and staff friendly. The room was a good size although the en-suite was rather tight for space. No luggage stands provided in room so other furniture was used. EV charging available a short distance away in town car park.

Conveniently located, ok for a night

Room and bathroom were very small, the old windows were not to open, the bedroom was to the main road and pretty noisy, the towel warmer worked but the radiator in the bedroom stayed cold and made the room uncomfortable. We had a small dinner which was good and the breakfast with the usual choices.

Golspie Inn was a nice place to stay while visiting the Golspie area. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, but my radiator was not working so it was a tad cold. The shower oscillated between freezing cold and burning hot, but otherwise the bathroom was above expectations. Overall, I would certainly return.

A welcoming rest stop

It was a welcome stop off after driving the North Coast 500. The hotel was full of old world charm and there had been efforts to modernise and refurbish the bedrooms. We had a comfortable room with clean en suite. The service was good as was the food. Lovely walk near the hotel to the Big Burn Falls. All in all a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Stayed at the Golspie Inn on 9/19/23. Cute property, rooms modernized. All good ends there. Staff consisted of 2 very young people overwhelmed with a handful of customers between the bar and restaurant. There was a line forming for the “manager” as the rooms were freezing. No explanation, apology, or words of any kind were offered as she robotically retrieved space heaters to thrust at customers. So glad I was 2nd in line, doubt there were enough heaters to go around. As this is a very old Inn, I was anxious that the wiring was not up to the extra demand of space heaters but, luckily, it was up-to-task. To bad their furnace and staff were not.

This hotel was chosen for it's proximity to Dunrobin Castle and it looked like it would be a lovely property. Unfortunately it fell short, the service being the main issue. On arrival at reception we were ignored by a member of staff who was carrying plates to the dining room. After a few minutes another waitress came out to reception. We said we were there to check-in, she said she didn't know how to use the computer but would get her colleague. The server who had been previously carrying the plates came to our assistance, looking harrassed. We were shown to our room, after being told that if we left the hotel we were to leave our key at reception (have never before encountered this procedure) and the hotel doors would be locked at 10pm, effectively locking us into the hotel, another highly unusual procedure. Upon entering our room we discovered the floor was on a decidedly noticeable slant. I realise the building is over 200 years old but it made the bed heads slope towards the wall, making them quite uncomfortable. We went downstairs for dinner and encountered the young server once again. After not being given menus we fetched them ourselves. She came to take a drinks order, however then said she wasn't old enough to serve alcohol. Her colleague was nowhere to be seen. After another 10 mins we decided to find dinner elsewhere. The server at breakfast was much better but clearly the place is understaffed and the staff are undertrained, owners obviously trying to cut corners

Checkin and checkout were both excellent, as were the staff without exception. The evening meal was excellent, as was the cooked breakfast. Perhaps the continental lacked fruit however. The stairs would have been safer with better lighting. Otherwise excellent say 9.5/10

Booked twin room for one night stay. Room well decorated and very comfortable. Not a large room but had everything we needed. Booked table for 7.30pm restaurant was busy. We got our shepherd Pies at 8.30pm which was lovely. Breakfast was cooked to order which was very good.

The rooms have been nicely updated, but haven't lost that old world charm. Its walkable to Dunrobin castle and Golspie is a nice little village to explore. There are many nice walks in the area. We would definately stay here again

Reception are looks tired and not very welcoming. Understaffed at breakfast time. We had deluxe room which was spacious and lovely.
Dining room needs pads put on legs of chairs as dragging chairs across wooden floor was very noisy and doesn't make for a relaxing dining experience.
Overall a tired hotel and was ok for a one night stay.

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Golspie Inn. It was perfectly placed for us to stop on our road trip around Scotland. Our room was comfortable and clean but the highest accolade goes to the staff. The team were friendly and welcoming and did all they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We ate in the on-site restaurant and would highly recommend in terms of both quality and value

Lovely clean modern room and en-suite. Super-friendly staff who allowed us to store our luggage before check-in due to us travelling by bus and allowed us to stay in reception until our bus arrived after check-out. Lovely food. Would stay again.
