The owner of the hotel, Christopher is incredible. From the moment I arrived he felt like a long lost uncle. On the way to the hotel I left my very valuable backpack in the taxi and Christopher drove me all the way back to the airport to look for the driver. He went above and beyond. I'd gladly stay here again.

Well, location was good. There were some problems;
-the international hotel bar opened at 5 PM
-Not only was food limited no breakfast not even a vending machine to buy a soda nor water, yes, close to a store was charged high American prices
-Mildew in the shower curtains, which obviously had not been changed in a long time
-I was there three nights the bed got made, but the sheets and the pillows were never taken off and changed. How do I know that? from the stains that were already on the sheets and the pillowcases
-The pillows are ridiculous. They’re quite large gave me a kink of my neck except for sleeping on my back and even then I felt like I was pushing my chin into my chest.
-No shampoo, bar soap that was horrible. Couldnt wait to get to my next hotel so I could shower and get clean.
-amenities, no water, except for some supplied in a plastic picnic jug and the spout was open when I got there, who knows what critters climbed into it
-Paint peeling on the walls
-the pictures are beautiful but most of the plants if not, all of them are artificial plants
-Limited water pressure, hot water occasionally
-It is true you get what you pay for but at $130 a night anywhere at least expect some basic nice accommodations
-Yes the owner was nice, but he is the only staff member. the other couple people that worked there cleaning the rooms really are not part of interaction with customers
-had I seen the room before I paid for it I would’ve paid twice as much to be somewhere else.

We arrived during a power brown out in the area which meant there was no power in the hotel. The gentleman who checked us in was as helpful as he could be despite the circumstances. The room was simple, but clean and the AC was more than adequate. Although I would suggest the owners invest in new mattresses and pillows. Ours were not comfortable.
That said, the location of the hotel in a lively neighborhood near the beach and great restaurants, along with it's charming roof top terrace, makes it a great choice for a pre or post cruise stop off.

Classic, rustic hotel located conveniently in San Juan. Accomodations were minimal but you get what you pay for. Pillows were bricks, TV didn't work but it was a place to wash and rest. AC worked and staff was supportive.

Excuses of being busy and too many people using hot water and it's an old building.
Stained sheets and old bedspreads.
Well, fix it or charge accordingly and let people know what kind of place they are really booking.

Def a 2 star place. 2 parking spots where you're guaranteed to get bird poop all over your car. If you're short, make sure you get a room with shower opener NOT ON TOP of the showerhead.

This is a youth hostel masquerading as a hotel. It would be fine if it were cheap, but it was quite expensive.

There was no hot water. The manager insisted that in fact there was and we just had to let the water run for a couple of minutes. After twenty minutes we gave up, and just took showers in cool water.

Hallway was noisy.

Room was very shabby. Soap dish hanging to the wall by a thread, water and mildew stains everywhere in the bathroom, an outdoor -looking spigot on the shower head.

Window was made of metal slats that were light-proof -- no glass windows. Which means that you could either run the AC with no light in the room, or you could open the metal slats to the outside, which let in hot air. It was not possible to have it be cool in the room and see the outside.

They charged me a thirty-five dollar fee for late check in.

I could go on and on. This was a cheap hostel that is somehow pretending to be a mid-range hotel.

Wonderful staff, clean, comfy beds, gorgeous garden rooftop. AC, walkable to all shops restaurants, beaches. 24hr large grocery 1 block.
A water main in the next street blew when we were there which affected hot water-nothing hotels could do. Our stay was very comfortable and beat warm, friendly customer service!

Bathroom was dirty, low water pressure every day and many stuff in the bathroom needs to be replace (shower cap, drainage net). There is a window inside of the shower that was VERY dirty. Floor in the room was dirty as well, unable to walk without wearing shoes.

Cristobal was awesome. Great value for what i paid and very clean. He made an exception despite my late arrival. The shower could use a remodeling. The hotel is very unique with a strong spaniard architectural design. The Cervantes room would be perfect if it was avaliable for coffee ☕️

The place was great. I just felt like the rooftop was like a little. It's dirty from the bird poop and then, um, there was like cat food, laying out right On the rooftop, also our shower head didn't have enough water pressure. That was the only thing right? But other than that, the place is great.

Iberia Hotel Beware

Rating this hotel a \"1\" is a stretch. The only redeeming value is the location which is one block from the Hilton Doubletree and across the street from a supermarket that has a great deli and coffee service and a short walk to the beach. Otherwise, you should consider the following when booking this hotel: No hot water (depending upon time of day and occupancy consumption), no functional TV, no elevator, no telephone in room, squeeky beds. and Noisy!. I asked the owner for some consideration (restitution) for the lacking amenities but his response was that he \"couldn't\". His defense was all of the political hardships he has endured since purchasing the 200 year old property 15 years ago. He is not willing to invest in his hotel; plain and simple. Don't be fooled by the attractive picture of the outdoor garden. We have been in the travel business for 50 years and this hotel does not even merit more than $35.00 per night! We paid $190.

Hotel Iberia is exactly what it says it is. It
IS a 2/3-star hotel - so you're not expecting luxury, but after a day there, I did find the charm in it. It's got old PR vibes. The rooms are older, (mine was windowless) but its clean, and the host was helpful. :) Very easy to walk places.

Owner Christopher is a good resource. Roof patio has friendly blue-eyed cat. Bus to Old San Juan (75 cent ride) is two block walk. Plaza Mercado with plenty of live music is 15 minute walk. This is a no frills hotel- depends what you’re looking for. Easy access to grocery store, restaurants, museums— by foot.

You get what you pay for

The bad:
- Dried earwax on the shower curtains
- Cannot throw toilet paper in the toilet
- No glass window (only metal shutters that have to stay shut when A/C is on)
- Only 1 outlet for charging devices
- Only 1 temperature from faucet

The good:
- Relatively cheap for location
- Beds are clean
- Owner is nice
- Locked front doors

El hotel es económico y para sólo dormir, está bien. El hotel está limpio y los empleados son amables y atentos. Deben revisar los calentadores de agua ya que no hay agua caliente para ducharse. Y deben ampliar el estacionamiento. Los espacios son limitados y hay que dejar el auto en las calles, lo que es un poco peligroso.

Very inflexible reservation policy. Due to inbound airline cancelation i was unable to make my reservation for 3 nights. I immediately contacted Iberia so they could re rent the rooms. I understand having to pay for the 1st night but they refused even a partial refund on nights 2 & 3. Horrible customer service

I have been to PR many times, I have NEVER had poor water pressure or had no water in a hotel room. Then when I asked I was told “the city turned the water pressure down due to construction”. There was no alternative given or a simply we apologize for the inconvenience. I had to ask for gallons of water to shower and brush my teeth. How is a person supposed to shower when the water is not running or trickling down on the shower wall????

This appears to be an old-fashioned \"mom & pop\" hotel. Beautiful indoor plants throughout. Lots of Puerto Rican charm and character. Very clean. But, rooms are small, bathrooms out-dated, window AC units very noisy and all night noise from the street. Slatted windows covered with plastic only. It's a long walk to find a restaurant.

The rooms are priced low to stay at. The property is an old estate converted to a hotel.
It is dated but was clean.
Christopher is very knowledgeable and helpful.
If you stay here ask him for advise of where to go in the area.
I would stay here again just because of the friendly staff here.
