Good stay in an aging property

The hotel was comfortable with beautiful grounds. The shower in my bathroom leaked water under the wall to the underside of the sink. It didn't affect my stay but it revealed the age of the room. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and courteous.

Madang Resort is a beautiful sprawling property but it needs to be properly maintained and restored to its former glory. I think the towels, bedsheets and pillow cases need to be replaced with new ones...

Great facilities. Nice location in Madang town. Friendly staff. However when booking via expedia I was told there would be a free air port shuttle. Upon checking out I was made to pay for said shuttle. :) Around 10 USD.

We enjoyed our stay at the Madang Resort. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable, and the water views and swimming pool were delightful. The dive shop also had helpful, professional staff and the snorkeling and diving was excellent. We would gladly stay again.

What a fantastic location! The resort is located right on the waterfront with lush gardens and spectacular views. It is also within easy walking distance to the town centre, markets and the Lighthouse. There are lots of artefacts available nearby. We highly recommend the waterfront rooms, we saw dolphins from our balcony. The resort has a good restaurant and very friendly and professional staff. The islands and surrounding reefs are easily accessible. A very relaxing stay!

Nice place to stay.

The place is beautiful and comfortable with a very large saltwater pool. The food was good, but a bit pricey. However, you could go out the gate to a nearby park and buy fried fish and other foods. The market is close by, too. Any place calling itself a \"resort\" and costing what it costs should have hot water, though. But the cold water showers were invigorating. They have a cuscus and a hornbill that are in very tiny cages which need cleaning. They should treat their animals better. It would be cool if they let the cuscus wander freely among the trees there. The landscaping is nice and so are the decorations and various wood carvings. The bed was very comfortable. The free shuttle from and to the airport was timely.

Best place to stay in Madang. Wonderful staff, lovely spacious room, great location, tasty complementary breakfast, clean swimming pool, lovely food, great diving through the resort's dive center and great tour guide for local village tour. All round great choice!

Great hotel in perfect location to Madang town center.We really enjoyed our stay at the Madang Resort Hotel. We only intended to stay for one night but enjoyed it so much that we stayed much longer. The staff are absolutely wonderful, they are genuine and excellent at what they do. Toby and Vince made as feel really welcome and they looked after us really well whilst we were there and they were always great to chat to - they want the very best for their guests and this was obvious. Nathan the scuba instructor was fabulous, an excellent dive master, we were so happy that he was available to take us diving through the resort's dive center. Busybee is the best tour guide in town. He is very well known in Madang and is able to take you to places you would otherwise miss out on.
The breakfast was lovely, the grounds are extremely well kept and the swimming pool was relaxing. This is an all round excellent place to stay.

Absolutely lovely resort with wonderful grounds, relaxing swimming pool, world class diving options, complementary breakfast and spacious rooms with a view.It is an older resort and in time will benefit from a bit of maintenance but it really is a wonderful place to stay. We were able to book great diving through the diving center based at the resort and a wonderful excursion to a village and jungle trek through the hotel's tour desk.This hotel is best in town for location, amenities, staff, excursion and diving options. It made our time in Madang perfect - thank you

This hotel is an absolute hidden gem and we LOVED staying here. The staff at this hotel are wonderful (Toby, Vince, BCB and Scuba Nathan) and made our stay perfect. It is an older resort with the most stunning grounds that are beautifully maintained,with lots of sunny or shady areas to relax and enjoy. It has an awesome swimming pool that we enjoyed cooling down in and our room was spacious, quiet and a great place to retreat to after a day of scuba diving with the resort's dive center. The complimentary breakfast has something for everyone, including tropical fruit salad, sausages, eggs, pastries and cereal which was an added bonus to our stay. We loved it here and wish we could have stayed longer.

Good option

The standard room was pretty dated, but the property is beautiful. It’s right on the water, with pools and lagoons. It looked like the premium rooms were extremely nice. The food was nothing special, but the staff are incredibly nice and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay and were welcomed and spoilt by all the staff we met. The food and service was excellent and the courtesy bus made arrival and departure very easy. All in all we would recommend the Resort and its people to travellers.

A pleasant experience

Beautiful property, rooms are quite large, not luxurious but comfortable. I stayed at one of the cabanas by the water (the balcony is literally over water). Overall was a good experience, the restaurant service was slow - but that is typical of PNG - and there was no hot water in the room. The internet is super slow and EXTREMELY expensive. Having to pay to use the gym where none of the machines really work and there is no A/C is outrageous! Much better than the Madang Lodge.

Great waterfront rooms

Really enjoyed our stay at the Madang Resort Hotel. Our waterfront rooms had private balconies overlooking the lagoon, Kranket Island and Madang Habour. Rooms were very clean and although the bathrooms were due for an upgrade everything was well maintained and clean. The tropical gardens made for a nice walk to the hotel restaurants etc.
Found the dining experience in the hotel restaurants nice with menu changes over the weekend and very pleasant staff.
Mandang town centre is an easy 15min walk with plenty of supermarkets to choose from and the local Madang markets. Sadly Madang township is not as beautiful as it once was with overcrowding and rubbish, however the people are just as pleasant and friendly as ever.

I booked the cheapest room. This was not a.good idea: Internet did not work, the room was smelly and rundown. Breakfast is basic and notl nice.
If you go there, rent one of the more expensive rooms and enjoy the lovely scenery.

Safe hotel, friendly staff but...

Don't let them do your laundry-they ruined 2 articles of clothing which were near new. Came back with holes and tears in them. Otherwise the resort is really pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful

It's Madang so your options are limited. With that thought in mind, the rooms are tired but are clean & comfortable. The hotel grounds are safe. The restaurants offer a nice selection of foods. I didnt have hot water in my room but that was expected.

NIce hotel in lovely oasis

We stayed here for 2 separate nights. Good shuttle service from the hotel to the airport. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. Only downside was when we had to leave early in the morning there was no hot water for showers - when charging the price they do for rooms this should not have been lacking. People were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Run down and mismanaged

My expectations were not that high, as i know could have certain PNG factor. Anyway, the staff was quite useless, and service in e.g. the restaurant was very slow and full of mistakes. The bill was VERY wrong at check out. The maintenance of the room was not very impressive.Too bad, the location is pretty good. Food was decent as well.

I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff members I met. Airport transfers are an important reason to choose this hotel. The hotel is near the town centre - within walking distance- but well-protected from the less desirable aspects of the town

Madang resort - a pleasant surprise!

The Madang Resort Hotel is THE idle place to stay in Madang. The staff are exemplary, the facilities excellent and their attention to you is second to none. A real surprise in a really surprising place. I would stay there again !

Doesn't live up to its name.

Room was not clean, aircon leaked onto the bed, mouse and ants in room, internet didn't work after paying considerable $$s for access, food was poor but expensive, power went out, no water on one morning, so all in all - not a good experience.

Staff listened but then did nothing about it.
