Gorgeous views from this property! Hard to say anything negative. It is a charming old hotel. The breakfast was great. They also have a little “shuttle” to help with luggage. The hotel sits on a steep hill - so highly recommend that.

The town itself is sleepy - not too much going on, but we loved that! It’s easy to jump on the train and go somewhere nearby.

I would say they could upgrade the duvets and the beds a bit. That’s the reason for 4 stars, not 5. I got an extra duvet and all the feathers were in one half of it! Even when they made the bed, they left it that way - haha.

Hotel Falken is a charming hotel perched on top of the town of Wengen. If you like character, classic charm, and warmth, you’ll love your stay. The hotel offers the most beautiful views of the mountains and the breakfast buffet (included in your stay) was delicious with many options. It’s pricier, but worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Falken. Our room offered great comfort and a breathtaking view, and we appreciated the consistent housekeeping. The historic charm of the lobby and dining area was very inviting. All the servers and staff were outstandingly friendly and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and the excellent coffee. While everything tasted great, I wished for a little more variety in the breakfast menu throughout our stay, but nonetheless, always enjoyed breakfast on our 4 day stay!
Don’t hesitate to stay at this hotel when visiting the breathtaking village of Wengen!

The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated with excellent views from the balcony! However, since it is so old, you could hear everyone’s footsteps above you (as im sure people below us heard ours). It is much like a bed & breakfast.The staff was friendly & the breakfast buffet was very good! It is a little bit of a walk uphill to get to it if your health needs to consider that. They will give you a ride for 15 francs if needed.

Great family vacation at Wengen

Amazing guest services starting from checkin, every day greetings and excellent breakfast options.

The hotel staff was so nice that they arranged surprised balloons and cake to celebrate by daughter’s birthday.

Eleanora at the front desk was very kind in making us feel at home!

We have a magnificent mountain peak view from our room and this hotel is just minutes away from train station, restaurants and stores.

My family and I really enjoyed the family suite for 3 nights. It was quiet and private, and spacious enough for us 5. The beds were very comfortable. We had a mountain view, which was just fantastic. We enjoyed the music at night, and could listen to it via our balcony. It was very pleasant and never bothered us. It ended before we retired each night.

We enjoyed the daily breakfasts and 2 dinners at the hotel. The staff was so pleasant. The food and wine was very good. It exceeded our expectations. We got to know them, and they worked very hard to please us. Same with the office team.

I would stay here again. The hotel has an \"old world\" ambience about it, which we enjoyed. It was a very relaxing stay.

PS: it was extremely easy to reach on foot from the train station. We did not have the van shuttle us.

Wengen is a hidden gem and this property was fabulous! I stayed with my 4 kids on the top level, which was a space with 2 rooms and a loft. We had plenty of sleeping space and magnificent views of the mountains and valley. There are cute shops and fantastic restaurants in Wengen. Hotel Falken offered a nice breakfast, and the staff was welcoming and helpful to us during our stay.

Beautiful location. Make sure you arrive before the last train from Lauterbrunnen leaves before midnight to go up to Wengen. Love the car free town. The view from our hotel was amazing.

Not great in the low season

I’m sure in the high season this hotel is great but we visited in April and were one of only a handful of guests there.
Due to this there was no restaurant or bar service at the hotel in the evening and no buffet breakfast. (In the morning we were just asked what we wanted for breakfast and without a menu we didn’t really know what they had.)
The hotel smelt of paint / varnish throughout and there were large cardboard boxes at the front as assume for the low season it’s a good time to refurbish but not great when staying here. For the price we paid we were disappointed.

The views are great and there are lovely pieces of furniture around the hotel but the atmosphere was so lacking we didn’t really spend any time there as it felt too quiet and awkward to be enjoyable.

If you are fascinated by an historic hotel and spend a lot of time in the public places you might enjoy this hotel. If not, there are better options. The hotel is close to downtown but it is up quite a steep hill. The bathroom is advertised as large but more than half is a huge soaking tub with high sides that makes taking a shower dicey. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 but if you don’t get there by 8:45, you will not get the full selection which isn’t very big to start with. They make a limited number of croissants and when you ask about having one at 9 AM, they say it would take 20 minutes. Before 8:45 or thereabouts, there are three types of bread. After that only one remains. This pattern continued for the three days we stayed there.

It was an interesting historic hotel with great views. The lift is one of the highlights to my husband. We both like the dinner served by its restaurant. If they can enhance the variety of breakfast, it would be great. I have to say their bread is excellent.

This hotel is a historic one since 1800s, the lounge has a relaxing feeling, and staffs are friendly. Rooms are clean and quiet, but a bit dated. Beds are comfortable. Views are fantastic. Would love to stay longer. Their free breakfast is also great.

Wonderful hotel but be knowledgeable

The hotel location is amazing! The views from the window are breathtaking. However, the trek/hike to the hotel is a workout! Be aware if you have too much luggage, the hotel does offer pickup service from the train station. Also, I didn’t like the bathroom tap running on separate faucets. It was too hot or too cold and hard to get the right temperature to wash face early in the morning. The tub is also very high to step into, could be a major issue for the elderly as there is great risk of slipping.

The hotel has a lot of potential and is in desperate need for renovations. All wooden flooring is extremely squeaky in rooms (we had two) and throughout common areas. I think that update alone would enhance the property and guest experience exponentially. Steep hill to walk up, especially with luggage and stroller, so be prepared! I didn't mind and enjoyed the challenge, but other family members did. The breakfast was decent, rooms has amazing views, and were very clean and quiet. Mattress was not comfortable. Overall, overpriced for what you get. I appreciated the classic decor throughout, and music in the lobby.

Beautiful Wengen historic hotel

Beautiful, historic hotel with amazing views. Our room and bath were large and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and we ate dinner there, too, and the cheeseburger was amazing. It is an uphill walk to the hotel but so worth it.

We absolutely loved our stay here. As Americans visiting Switzerland for the first time, this property was super unique to us. We had incredible service and felt so welcomed. Just note that there is no TV in the room (who needs it with views like that) and the walk up to the hotel is pretty steep. If we ever come back to this area we will for sure stay here again.

Best Hotel

I have been on the road now for 10 days. This is the finest hotel I have stayed at. Front desk gentleman meet our every need. Food was top notch and very tasty. Mountain View’s are awesome. I would stay here again and again!

The property needs renovating. From the outside it looks nice, but the rooms are beat. Our son and shower did not drain. The matters was sinking to the floor and part of the floor of the room felt like it was about to fall in. I would give this hotel next. 1 star if one at all.

Wonderful experience, would stay again.

Amazing experience. You have a mountain view from the balcony. Rooms are spacious with awesome services. Hotel staff is also very helpful and customer oriented. My kids enjoyed the stay. Walking distance from Wengen train station which is also a plus. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Don’t book this hotel. Run!

This hotel was so uncomfortable to stay at. There were cobwebs in the room. It was poorly cleaned. The worst part: There was no AC (which is common for the town) but at least have fans to provide for your guests. It’s hot in July, and the rooms are hot without any AC or fan. My kids were sweating in their sleep. I called reception to ask for flat sheets since the comforters were not even close to being necessary and they told me they were out. Ridiculous. The pillows were so flat, it’s like they were hardly there. The breakfast was just okay. There were no tv’s in the room. Rather they had a “tv room” which was a small tv behind the bar in the common area. You’re hosting people around the world and charging top dollar. Have some decency and keep up with the global hotel standards. Overall I am very unhappy about my stay and wish I stayed somewhere else for the money I paid.

The bathroom was so crammed. The staff were OK, not very friendly, except for one porter who was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was average. Not what we expected for such a price.

A big disappointment.

Both the Hotels.com and The Falken Hotel trumpeted the excellent Hotel restaurant on their websites. This was one of the main reasons that we booked. We were looking forward to this - but arrived only to be told that the Hotel restaurant was closed for Low Season.
We said that we understood this but that it should have been mentioned on their website, as otherwise we would not have booked. The Proprietress had no answer to this, other than to keep repeating the above excuse. of 'low season'.

Both Hotels.com and the Hotel Falken are at fault here. There was no option to book full board on the Hotels.com website so we had to wait until arrival at the hotel before we found out that there was no restaurant. We ate instead at the Italian restaurant at the other end of town (one of only two open) and on 2 nights got soaked walking there (no lift available from the hotel). Other nights we had a picnic in our room. The hotel itself is well past its prime. I understand that their main selling point is that it is traditional and historic - but if was difficult to find any comfortable place to sit on the ancient furniture in the lounge area. Our beds were clean and acceptable but definitely not super comfy or intended for stays of more than a few days.

Finally, do not try to do the 7/8 minute walk with your luggage up to the hotel from the station unless you are young and fit. It is very, very steep and we were glad we had booked a pick up from the hotel.

Excellent location, views are to die for. The hotel is very old and historic. Tub over flows and the sink has separate hot and cold taps. No iron or blow drier. There was a wedding that weekend and we didn’t get a good night sleep - they were very loud. Steep walk from the train station, definitely not for the elderly or people with bad knees. Some servers at breakfast were not friendly. Will I go back? Maybe.

Family of 5: 3 nights, summer trip (Aug)

We loved Hotel Falken and would definitely stay there again!

Wengen is centrally located to many activities (Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunnen, Trummelbach Falls, Schilthorn, Interlaken) and the town itself is quaint and absolutely gorgeous (there are many restaurants, grocery store, skylift/cable car, tennis courts, swimming pool, park, church, mini-golf, cows).

We parked at the Lauterbrunnen train station and it is about a 10 min train ride to get to Wengen (they leave every 30 mins). The hotel is just a short walk from the train station which we found convenient for our entire stay for carrying luggage, catching trains etc- vs being at another hotel further away in the town.

The staff was very nice and helpful, especially Alice, who greeted us with drinks, gave us recommendations for restaurants, and also tips on navigating the trains and many activities nearby. The owner brings her sweet dogs to the hotel and my children looked forward to seeing them every day!

They were able to accommodate our family of 5 in one room and the kids loved their loft type bedroom! Breakfast was from 7am-10am and they have a table reserved for you with your room number on the table. They do offer dinner 5 nights/week. The views from the room are stunning and it was fun to hear the bells from the cows and sheep when the windows are open. The bedding was comfortable and they give you a bottle of water every day.

We loved it and we wished we could've stayed longer!

The good- Very beautiful scenery.

The bad- Very old property, floors squeak, walls are thin, uneven floors make tripping hazard.

The Ugly - The walk up the hill from the train station to the hotel is horrible. They don’t warm you about this not so they suggest making arraignments for at least your bags. I would not recommend this property to older people or those who are not in good health.

My kids and I enjoyed our ski holiday here. So much so they want to come back next year! The food and the wait staff were a highlight. The breakfasts and dinners were great. They also have some very old wines available from their cellar for reasonable prices.
The rooms are a bit dated and in need of a makeover after many years, but on a ski holiday you are only just sleeping there so we didn’t mind. The bar and lounge were quite comfortable. The location is great. Ideal for families and foodies unless you are looking for fancy or modern.
