We had an amazing time at Bocas del Mar. The entire staff is courteous, kind and helpful. Our airline delayed our bags. Since the closest commercial area is 1 hr away, I was very stressed because I had none of our belongings l, including our kids swim gear. I spent so many hours reaching out to the airline, but the true help came when Odalys (hotel manager) helped me contact and go to the local airline’s office to retrieve our luggage when it arrrived. After that wrinkle, our trip was perfect. The food was great, varied options, yummy drinks, plenty of options for the kids. The pools were clean and comfy. The tours offered by the hotel (at a surcharge) were so much fun and the guides so knowledgeable and nice. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. FYI They do not have a private beach on the property. They do offer water-taxi rides to visit the nearest beach. Otherwise when you take one if the tours, you can visit several gorgeous beaches nearby.

We really enjoyed our time at Bocas Del Mar! The room was beautiful, immaculate with a fantastic view. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was very good and we appreciated the local tuna and snook. The hotel is in an amazing location and offers good activities. We were lucky enough to see whales, dolphins, crocodiles on one of the tours.

This site has a wonderful setting with beautiful views. The staff are very friendly and helpful from housekeeping to the front desk staff, to the restaurant staff, all are very good. We had some minor issues with hot water in our suite and our Wi-Fi failed one day but they did everything in their power to correct the issues as soon as possible. We are very happy to have stayed here and would highly recommend.

I really liked the tranquility of this property the first time I stayed here, The staff are very friendly, and kind also.

This time, I had even more problems with hot water in the shower. Then we ordered a lobster salad special not on menu, that was not much of anything. When I saw the $29 dollar price, I was really stunned.
We also went on what was promoted as a sunset cruise on a small outboard motor boat for $90 dollars per couple that was a short bird watching with beer, wine, soda included. This was very disappointing also.
Now I am rethinking ever going back.

My husband and I stayed in Villa #4 at Bocas del Mar Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful. Newly updated and a great view of the bay and the gardens. The restaurant staff are top notch. I can't say enough about the service. The front desk staff, again, just amazing. Customer Service at this resort goes above and beyond. The breakfast was fantastic and the dinners - both the food and the views - were spectacular. Tours were available and pick up is right at the resort's dock.

This is a peaceful place you go to meditate. The property is very quiet, and tranquil. You are cut off from everything including cable TV. The lack of cable TV is either good, or bad depending on individual considerations.

Though not our first visit to Bocas del Mar, this trip was special. The staff is amongst the best in Panama. The food was fantastic and not just on occasion; every single meal was wonderful. The property is beautifully maintained and additional improvements appeared to be underway. Our room, at the top of the property, was spectacular. We went with the crew for half a day of whale watching and island-hopping the Gulf of Chiriqui. The humpbacks were abundant and the dolphins an added bonus. The staff is ecologically minded and committed to preserving the marine and mangrove environment. We are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to both ownership and staff for taking such good care of us.

Ocean front property (no beach), nice cabins (mine included king size bed, sofa bed and modern kitchen. Was recently renovated). Has a nice pool. Most activities include a boat ride to one of the beautiful islands nearby. Also you can take a one hour drive to los Cangilones or a bit longer and visit Boquete.

—the villa itself was not decorated well; a black leather couch and heavy red curtains; it had no ‘Panamian feel’ … this missed the mark.
-both swimming pools are missing tiles…it didn’t detract from our pleasure! But it gives an ‘old’ and uncared-for impression. However, the property is being renovated so I assume this will be attended too.

The villa we stayed at was impeccable, with lot of amenities (fridge, range, appliances, laundry) and with a great view of the bay. The onsite restaurante serves great food and every night the chef sent a complimentary appetitezer. The staff was very kind and attentive. The property grounds are beautiful, with so many spots to sit and relax. The only thing that is missing is a good beach spot, but I understand this is inherent to the geography of the location. We took day trips to the gulf islands: Gamez, Paridas, Bolanos, but we did not use the hotel tour but a service from Boca Chica that was less expensive.

Bocas del Mar hotel is located in a lovely area with beautiful views. The restaurant is very good and everyone that works at the hotel is nice and do their best to make your stay pleasant. When we left we noticed I could not find my oura ring. The hotel employees found the ring and even took it to Boquete, a town that is 2 hours away, to return the ring. This was beyond what I expected.
Maintenance-wise, the swimming pools require more maintenance as well as the pillows and linens in the rooms. All in all we would like to return to Bocas del Mar hotel. We had a relaxing vacation full of adventure but in a confortable place with good food and service.

It was so peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent and there was also a lovely restaurant (walkable) at the resort next door. There were many activities that we signed up for -- snorkeling, kayaking, water skiing, the bird rehabilitation area, etc -- but mostly just enjoyed relaxing by the two infinity pools. It is a very remote area with not much to do besides relax and enjoy some water sports, but that's exactly what we wanted.

We stayed in Boca Chica to do a deep sea fishing trip. This hotel was a great place to stay at and the fishing charter could pick us up at the hotels dock. They also opened up the dining room a half hour early so we could have breakfast at 6:30 to make our 7:00 charter. They chef also created a special dinner for us with the Mahi Mahi we brought back for the day. The hotel rooms were very nice and clean. Boca Chica is a really quite area. There is no real 'town' and it is perfect if you are looking for peace and quite, but if you like to dine out and explore different things there is not much to do in this area of Panama other than fish.

We enjoyed walking around the property. It is absolutely beautiful and well kept. Many areas to walk around and explore, we saw bananas on the tree. We even saw a iguana that was a treat. We went down to the beach where my husband and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon.

The property is beautifully maintained with a view of the ocean and the islands. There are few viewpoints that have swinging benches, where you can enjoy spectacular views. There is even a small hike that takes you to Parrots’ sanctuary, we made a friend there. We enjoyed some quiet time and did some reading in hammocks down by the water with a nice breeze and ocean sounds.The cabins were all modern, air conditioned and clean. The two pools were spotless. The infinity pool had gorgeous views. There is tennis and basketball court available. The service, food and drinks were great. Our stay was wonderful and we enjoyed all the amenities very much!
The staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay at Bocas Del Mar coincided with challenges getting back to the major cities. The hotel manager, Marcus, was extremely helpful in keeping us informed, negotiating with our car rental company about how to return the rented vehicle, and organising transport to David. Without his patience and his help, we would have struggled and he went above and beyond to help us out of a tricky situation.

We paid for a couple of activities offered by the hotel, and they were amazing: hike to a beautiful waterfall with lunch in the local village, and boat tour stopping on some islands in the gulf - dolphins also swam next to the boat!

Our room was superb with a spectacular view over the water and islands. We had a semi private infinity pool just below our terrace, also with an amazing view. We saw and heard howler monkeys and toucans right outside our bungalow. The bed was super comfortable and the spacious room had every mod con. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food fantastic, and well-priced. Cocktails were delicious and wine selection reasonable for us. We tried lobster, fresh fish, fruit, bruschetta, salads, omelettes, pasta, crusty bread - everything was amazing. The snorkelling discovery trip was really fun and we saw lots of fish and dolphins. I could have stayed much longer and will definitely be back. Paradise.

I can't say enough about Bocas del Mar. I don't typically enjoy resorts, but this was exactly the best kind of resort. Small, spotlessly clean, kind and attentive service (without being overbearing), great amenities, gorgeous surroundings, and amazing attention to detail. We loved our stay and hope to return sometime with our kids. Just walking on and around the property we saw howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, parakeets, woodpeckers, crested oropendola, caracaras, chachalacas, poison dart frogs, and so much more. Meals were all wonderful, and we were able to ride just a little into the bay and see humpback whales! HIGHLY recommended.

A getaway weekend for my husband and I before returning to the states. Immaculate & lovely grounds, very friendly & helpful staff. We did the popular Discovery boat tour - loved being out on the water, seeing all the islands. Had a lovely picnic on a sandy beach being entertained by skittish hermit & sand crabs. The Gulf water is the perfect temperature for swimming (not cold like the Pacific beaches in the US). Saw over half a dozen dolphins frolicking in our way back & the tour guide stayed in the area allowing us plenty of time to enjoy the playful sea mammals! At the restaurant, always order whatever the chef has prepared special - it will be fresh & delicious! We enjoyed grilled Grouper with a choice of sauces, and a veggie fried rice generously filled with langostinos! For cocktails, we recommend the classic mojito & the Boca Sunrise. The rooms are excellent! The bed literally hugs you to sleep & the soaking bath is bliss! We also recommend hammock time at the yoga hut - a perfect spot to read... or doze to the waves. We’re very glad we came! Recommended!

Bocas Del Mar provided excellent service beyond expectations during the COVID-19 pandemic during our adult family of 3 stay, January 2021. The hotel has less than a few dozen units, most or all of which have wonderful views of the sea. Onsite food services are good and the chef provides a variety of meals, especially for lunch and dinner. Our room had hot water, comfortable beds, periodic room service and was well apportioned. We used several amenities, property features, and extended services including; the infinity pool, room service, massage, early morning \"to-go\" breakfasts, taxi shuttle to the small town of Boca Chica, airport transfer, one way shuttle to Boquete, a day fishing/snorkling on the sea, printing official documents, private meal preparation of fresh fish, and use of the bar for specialized cocktails. The management team services day and night and the staff are friendly. This is the only hotel I would return to in Boca Chica which meets typical expatriate four star hotel services of major chain providers (Hilton, Marriott, etc.).

Must begin by stating our overall 4 night stay during \"Valentine's Day\" weekend was superb! The restaurant had great ambience along with delicious extensive and reasonable menu. The staff was beyond reproach. Particularly assistant mgr Marcel & mgr Marcus. They both made it a point to visit with us at least once a day. This trip/resort/location was truly special. Beautiful grounds, best food we had in Panama, and the experience was unforgettable. We went beach hopping with a boat, kayaked out to an island, went whale watching (found a whale and baby) and even had wild dolphins swim along side our boat and do trips for us when we cheered them on. Beautiful experience for a couple or with the family!

Excellent hotel, upgraded to room with incredible views from bed, bath and private terrace. Comfortable, clean. Grounds are lushly landscaped with places to sit and enjoy ocean views. Food at the restaurant was very good. Large pool being renovated but upper pool is open. Probably not the best for mobility impaired. Took an island tour and very much enjoyed it and the sandy beach.
The road to the hotel has some very rough spots and potholes but we had no problem in our rental sedan. However, arrive in daylight. A great place as long as you are okay with no swimming beach on the property.

I travel a quite a bit throughout the year. I generally don't review hotels but felt it was important that I share our thoughts on this hotel. I found this small hotel in a secluded spot along the Pacific coast area of Panama to be one of the best run hotels I've come across in years. On site hotel owners with an excellent helpful staff; friendliness; good food at their restaurant that is fairly priced; cleanliness, and: meticulous attention to details. Can't be effusive enough about our stay there approximately 2 weeks ago.Wish we would have spent an additional day there. Only comment would be to make sure to have good directions as our GPS device wasn't able to locate the hotel. We only had a general idea of it being close to Boca Chica.

5 Star in the real Panama

This property was amazing...better than expected and much needed. Our bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was amazing, and the 2 pools are very clean and have views of the beaches. The owner and staff went out of their way to keep the kitchen open late for a 5 star serviced beautiful meal at 10pm, after a harrowing late night trip there.
It is joined by steps to a tiki bar at the end of a dock and the other fancy place in Boca Chica. A 5 minute drive away is the friendly village of Boca Chica which has an awesome seafood/local food restaurant by the boat dock. There you can find a water taxi or better yet pay a local $3/pp and up to take you around the nearby islands.

Just what we needed! Quiet stay with stunning views to the ocean. Enjoyed the two pools everyday. Took two tours to some islands with snorkelling and some fishing. Staff friendly. Managers were attentive and ready to do whatever you needed to make your stay a highlight.
Saw a crocodile one morning by the Tiki Bar. Don't let this deter you from this vacation spot.

Nice hotel for two days

It rained almost every minute of our 7 day stay. Since it was neither beach nor any other outdoor activity kind of weather, 7 days was too long a stay just to relax. Two days would have been fine. We did take a trip to Boquete to visit a coffee plantation which was fun. Met some very nice people, had some good meals and enjoyed the staff.

I didn't have the best experience but it was due to weather conditions, there was a bad time over Boca Chica for 5 days so I had to stay in the room all day long.

What an amazing experience

From the beginning to the end, my stay at Hotel Bocas del Mar was absolutely wonderful. Everything about my stay was wonderful. The staff was awesome and so welcoming. My room was wonderful. The food was very good. The tour I took was great! The massage in the spa house sitting at the waters edge where I could hear the waves crashing against the shore during my massage was like listening to natures own music! I don't have one complaint about my stay other than, I forgot to get coffee from the hotel before I left!

Beautiful!

Spent a lovely evening and next day by the pool at Bocas del Mar. An out of the way place, but worth it! Staff were very accommodating and attentive. Private bungalows were clean and roomy with lovely views of the grounds and water. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit and juice. Only complaint is that the mattress was quite hard. Other than that, would definitely visit again if we are ever in Panama!

Wonderful place to relax

This hotel was our favorite place during a vacation in Panama. The location is exquisite -- on the ocean with views of endless islands. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and every room seems to have water views. Two pools surrounded by lounge chairs are available. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate every request. It is particularly helpful in arranging excursions to nearby beaches and other places. The food and service at the restaurant are good enough so that one need not go elsewhere. A real treat for the body and soul.

We really enjoyed our stay

The room, food, and swimming pools are very nice, and the service is excellent with a friendly staff. The only downside is the road leading to the resort which is a bumpy gravel road. Would definitely stay there again!

Nice hotel on the water, but no beach

The hotel staff here are great. The place is very clean and pleasant. This place is remote so you will have to have all of your meals there. The staff is excellent and ready to please. Definitely have a boat take you to the outer islands for the day and hang out on one of the remote beaches. My wife and I thought we were on Gilligan's island as we spent the day on a nice remote beach without anyone to bother us. My only regret is that the place did not have a beach.

Wonderful Hotel

Wonderful hotel with an amazing view. Top notch service and the couple from Spain who run the place did a great job. The wait staff in the restaurant was also great and had our table ready for us each evening for dinner. Don't really have anything to complain about as the hotel exceeded all our expectation and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Clean and well managed, two great swimming pools, large and comfortable rooms with excellent view, friendly service and a good restaurant. The decor is modern and very pleasant. This hotel is great for relaxing doing nothing in a few days and is definitely Worth a stay. Try the boat trip to visit the nearby islands.
