L'Hotel Tieti is an absolute gem of a place hidden 300kms north of Noumea on the West Coast.
Built in the mid 1980's, it is looking a little bit aged in some places but apart from that this hotel is superb.
We stayed in a beachside bungalow and the staff and management (especially the Manager Yve) fell over themselves to make us feel welcome, safe and looked after.
We were literally 15 metres from the white sand beach and the warm tropical waters. This hotel is very affordable and certainly popular with many folks, especially on long weekends.
The accommodation is clean, well maintained and comfortable and everything is provided. There is not a focus on any kitchen cooking facilities as the hotel restaurant is so well patronised, accessible and provides everything you could need. We did make our own breakfast, but other than that generally dined at the hotel restaurant where the food is superb and plentiful.
There is a fantastic pool by the restaurant and parking is in by the hotel with access to the bungalows by a system of boardwalks.
This hotel is very well priced and affordable, by both New Caledonia standards and internationally.
It is very near to a township called Poindomie which has several smaller supermarkets, ATMs and a pharmacy so everything you may need is very close.
This hotel is a good base to use to explore further North, as well as simply relax on the sand or in the water (but stay about waist deep in the sea).
We highly recommend L'Hotel Tieti.

Hotel was clean and nice, we enjoyed the food and pool. There wasn’t much to do around the area, we didn’t realised how limited the tourism is up there, as it was windy no water activities so there wasn’t much left to do. The town is ok, but nothing to do apart from a cafe and supermarket. Hotel has some bikes that are a bit beat up but worked.. just. There’s a billard table, table tennis, kids play area, boules and it’s on the beach.

Tiéti is quality accommodation with large rooms, balcony, pleasant grounds and excellent restaurant. However, it is starting to show signs of wear (broken bathroom counter, cracked floor tiles, holes in shower wall), but nothing functionally impaired. The water in the shower took about 2 mins to warm up, and was only just warm enough (for females!). The biggest limitation was the wifi, which was unusable as it was so slow, even for simple email/txts. It was the same everywhere we tried it, even in the reception/restaurant area, so not a signal strength issue. Luckily, we had pocket wifi, which I recommend if visiting NC!

Hotel Tieti is situated on a lovely beach and is well maintained and the staff are friendly. The beachfront bungalow I stayed in was lovely as was the pool that was nearby. I stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. It is a complete contrast to Noumea, you should prepare to relax and chill out at this place. It also has a nice restaurant which I went to one night.

Nice resort- stayed here as we were diving with Dive Tieti so it was convenient. (Fab diving btw). Beach front villa - very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was
a little dated but clean - shame about the broken window which according to hotel staf has been like that for a long time. Also a heads up - when we were there we we told not to swim off the beach as there were sharks.

This place had all of the opportunities to be something decent, unfortunately it is +++ tired, mouldy, bedding is stained ++ and extremely uncomfortable.

Very limited Meal options means that if your child falls asleep pre the restaurant opening you aren’t able to really eat, due to no room service as wel as them deterring you from bringing outdoor food.
Dinner buffet was 4,800 and wasn’t really that worth it in my opinion.

Pool was actually quite nice however, but grounds need a lot of maintenance and rooms need to be totally refurbished.

Good choice for a northern N.C. holiday.

We had a lovely time at Hotel Tieti. The room was airy when the ranch sliders were open. Since the country opened up, they have only begun to have overseas people staying again, so the room could have been aired out prior to our arrival. There were three of us booked but we still had to ask for an extra towel, cup and glass. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The pool area is beautiful and the outdoor areas and gardens are lovely. The bar and dining areas are also really nicely laid out. The food was delicious although the meals are enormous. The staff were friendly and seemed to know who everybody was. They were approachable but also discreet.

We had bungalow by the beach and it was a lovely experience to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. It rained during much of our visit but it was still lovely to feel cocooned in our bungalow.
We had dinner in the restaurant and meal was of high quality. Considering the remoteness of the location this was a pleasant surprise. Staff were warm and friendly without being overbearing. We recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.

I didn't think the staff were very helpful - especially as I didn't speak French. The Resort was in need of some upgrading/ a tidy up. A long way to drive to get there and not to feel welcome was very sad and disappointing. I was traveling on my own - originally planned to stay 4 nights, but checked out after only spending two nights there.

I went to go scuba diving. i wrote a review already. but again, the hotel is lovely, and nice pool, good food, especially if not vegetarian.
The guest manager, Leticia, was wonderful in helping me book diving elsewhere when the shop next to the hotel was full.

The room was spacious but the decor was dated and cleanliness was not up to scratch. The walls and ceilings had dirt marks on them. The TV was too small for the size of the room. There was tea & coffee making facilities, but these were often not replenished. The bar area is ok. I only had one meal in the restaurant but that was fine. The WiFi was poor. Not strong enough to stream anything an, in the room, barely able to load up web sites. The stated tennis facilities are not part of the hotel. These are municipal tennis courts in the town. The pool and beach areas were ok. The beach was a bit rough due to recent storms. The staff were helpful when they could be. Overall I would equate the room to the level of a good motel in Australia, minus cooking facilities.

Check in was at 3pm and we arrived early. But they allowed us use of all the facilities. Book in simple and quick. Our bungalow had warning tape around a bush which was attached to our bathroom window. It was the first thing we saw a large hole and exposed pipes. Inside toilet roll holder had fallen off and rescrewed back to wall leaving large uneven plaster. Safe did not work either. Other than those few minor things room was spacious clean and bed was large firm and comfy. Meals were good. Bar tapas well worth the money .and drinks priced at what you expect in a hotel. Pool was clean alrhough lack of sunloungers and people leaving their stuff on their chairs whilst they left for a few hour didnt help. Normal bad behaviourcat hotels. Beach was clean and we enjoyed a swim in the ocean.

A beautiful hotel on a clean beach with big waves; spacious dining room with delicious dinner in a good serving proportion suitable for the price; friendly staff. We're given a room on the first floor but without a lift we changed to one on the ground floor and we're given this room with stuffy smell and worn out furniture including the bed with two obvious repair patches on the wood panel where the mattress is sitting on. Seeing that we're staying only for one night we didn't make a fuss and that might be the reason we're given this room. Not very impressive, though, for a big hotel to keep a room in those conditions.

Worth the trip if you are looking for quiet

It takes a bit of effort (5 hour + drive) to get to Hotel Tiete in Poindimie from Noumea, but definitely worth it if you want peace and quiet. We hired a car (highly recommended) as the bus trip would be hellish. Unexpectedly rewarded with a gorgeous beachfront villa upgrade, though would have been happy anywhere in the peaceful grounds of the Hotel. Not much else around the area other than some supermarkets in the town, but so very peaceful. Enough English spoken to get by, but not so much in the restaurant for dinner. Overall, we loved it.

Had a relaxing six days at Hotel Tieti which was a pleasant place to be even in the less-than-ideal weather we had for the first half. Beachside rooms are quiet, nicely designed with the most enormous bathrooms, accessible by boardwalk (no stairs and only gentle slopes, so these and the garden rooms have good accessibility!) Verandah faces the sea and makes the room feel spacious. Only tea/coffee making facilities in the room so you’re either reliant on the hotel restaurant which serves excellent food but at a fairly high cost, or the pizza and snack joints around the village which have sporadic opening hours and are also pricey. But it’s New Caledonia, where you can buy freshly baked bread, French cheese, charcuterie and wine at even the village service station, so do that and enjoy it on the verandah. Staff are lovely and do their best to bridge any language divide so we got by with a mix of pidgeon French and English. Lovely pool area close to bar/restaurant and beach, and the hotel has paddleboards for hire, but watch out for the cross-current at Tieti Beach! Don’t forget to explore the gorgeous coast and villages north of Poindimie and take a trip out to snorkel or dive the reef.

This is a very peaceful and beautiful area of New Caledonia with a lot of nice sights around. A great place to go and really relax.

Nice resort hotel. Restaurant food fairly average, but overall facilities very good. Best bit on our stay was going snorkelling on the reef with Aqualagoon who operate from the resort. This was amazing!! Our bungalows were very nice, clean, with good WiFi connections. We didn't use any other resort facilities during our short stay of only 2 nights.

We booked the beach bungalow ( no 43) for two nights ( ave $145 per night) and we were just a few steps from the beautiful sandy beach with a totally unobstructed view, framed by palm trees. Lovely deck with table and chairs and two reclining comfortable sun lounges. Excellent value!! Comfortable spacious accommodation with huge bathroom and bath! We splurged on delicious buffet one night and bought fresh baguette, ham and salad and yummy pastries for breakfast and lunch. Warning; don’t take the road back from east to west coast through Sarraméa - just ghastly and dangerous through an open cut mine!

Paradise by the water ...

We stayed two nights here, and thought the bungalow and the setting were stunningly beautiful. The bungalow was a generous size, well laid-out, and only metres from the beach.

The big drawback was the food. There was nowhere else to eat, so we had no choice but to eat there or go hungry. The breakfast buffet was expensive and very limited. Only sugary cereals and white bread, quite a limited selection of fruit, the pastries were cold and dry, and the crepes were similarly cold and rubbery. Skipped dinner the first night, because the only choice was a buffet, and if we see another over-priced, limited buffet meal ever again, it'd still be too soon! Were allowed to order an a la carte meal the second night, and this was delicious.

We have been surprised, generally, at the poor standard of food in New Caledonian resorts - we expected the French influence to have created wonders in the culinary realm.

Great hotel in Tropical Paradise

Well worth the drive from Nouméa. Hotel is very modern for the area, great facilities, clean with huge rooms right on the beach. Well kept grounds very friendly staff. Plenty of things for kids and adults alike. Diving at your front door. Plenty of supermarkets with alcohol open from 7-7 (closed for lunch 1-3). Couple of places to eat out in town too, including burgers and pizza but the hotel food, particularly the bar snack menu is excellent value. Can't wait to go back.

Nice bungalow accommodation right on beach

Hotel Tieti provides nice and spacious Bure style accommodation, offering rooms right on a pleasing beachfront which is pleasant and safe for swimming. With a separate swimming pool and trampoline they offer excellent family friendly facilities. Being the only hotel and restaurant in Poimdimie, you rely on the hotels catering facilities which are very good but may appear expensive to some overseas guests. The Poimdimie area is noted for diving and we enjoyed a wonderful underwater experience with Dive Tieti and their professional scuba team who took us out to the outer reef for an exhilarating two-tank dive with wonderful soft corals and tropical fish life.
On two of the nights, we experienced village music which was distant but interrupted sleep on the Sunday evening until after midnight. The same occurred Monday evening but only until 10pm.

We loved our time at Tieti, and extended our stay to 5 nights. So relaxing, great snorkelling from the beautiful beach, wonderful for kids. The hotel is close to the town of Poindimie, so you can easily stock up on food supplies and interact with locals. We did a day trip to the beautiful Hienghène. There is a beautiful pool, but our kids preferred the ocean.

Beautiful separate chalet on the beach front. Excellent place to unwind, very good facilities, restaurant etc. Although the menu was rather plain, the food was very good. Not much choice, same menu for lunch and dinner - a first world problem though!

Staff were very reluctant to give us mosquito repellant pads - no worry for my tough skin, but my wife and daughter weren't too pleased. The rooms are definitely not mossie proof with very loose fitting window louvres.

Don't forget to swim in the sea!

Great location and fabulous swimming beach although most St people were in the pool. Found some great locals who were helpful as well as the hotel staff.
Loved the room, we choose a garden bungalow and we're delighted with the room and view.
Initially had an issue with the air conditioning but hotel staff were responsive.
Would have liked a la carte option for dinner not buffet which was expensive like most meals in New Caledonia.

Remote hotel with great scenery and beach.

Friendly staff, no problem to get along with limited ability to speak French, reasonably priced and good restaurant (important since there is not much choice to eat elsewhere).

Great Beachfront, BUT security concerns!!

We had a lovely beachfront bungalow with excellent views!

On our last night, around 4:00 am, an intruder tried to get into our unit by trying to force open the wooden sliding doors. We were woken with a start and my husband had to charge the man off, NOT a great experience!!
We reported to the front desk, who with very little interest , said she would tell the manager.
Overall the day-staff were very unfriendly, rude and dismissive. Especially if you did not speak French. The food, coffee and cocktails were very disappointing, to say the least.
Night time teams were much better and the food a much better effort.
Most of the staff needs training and sent on barista and cocktail making courses, learning how to deal with \"foreigners\" and overall customer service improvement.
We have tried to phone the hotel manager, regarding the intruder, thus far after 3 calls, they have not answered the Hotel phone.

so-so experience

1) The bungalow was fantatic as it was just located in front of the beach. However there were mosquitos at night and there was no mosquito repellent provided in the room.
2) The hotel allowed outsiders to hangout around the hotel compound. There was a group of youngsters picnicking just outside our room all afternoon. When we told them we needed quiet moment for afternoon nap, they moved 50m away but continue making noise. We called front desk for help but nobody came.
3) The food was not very good and it was too expensive for what it is.
4) We enjoyed the swimming pool.

Nice resort, right on the beach!

Our hut was right on the beach and super comfortable! It was really relaxing, however, it was a public beach so we had a group of local kids who would hang around outside our hut every day at around 3pm for hours.
The hut was amazing! The bathroom was incredible! The only thing was that the aircon didn't work that well.
The description of the hotel says that the staff speak french and english, however, the english was whatever they could translate through google; this was fine, it just meant that we kept to ourselves.
Overall we had an incredible stay and would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was nice

The hotel itself was ok but it was in the middle of nowhere with only 2 or 3 other options of places to eat other than the hotel. Which made it very difficult giving that the hotel restaurant only had the same dinner menu every night which was very limited.

Disabled holiday on the beach

The hotel was excellent, we had a unit on the beach which was fantastic and so relaxing. I am in a wheelchair and the hotel was easy to get around. The unit was large and easy to get around in. The bathroom was not a disabled bathroom but the shower was large enough and they supplied a shower chair. The toilet could only be accessed from the front not the side but was easy enough.

Standard rooms are in a 2 level block overlooking the more expensive bungalows. Go for a second level room to get a view. Rooms are spacious with a balcony.

Lovely hotel let down slightly by food choices

We booked one night here, for our tour around New Caledonia.
A lovely receptionist and I had a struggle with communication - my schoolgirl French proved to be better than her schoolgirl English! But she couldn't have been more helpful.
Our room was lovely - a 'garden view' bungalow that had a view of the beach too! Room 40. Recommended. Just a couple of small things that could have done with a man with a screwdriver - but that's being picky.
Probably our biggest reason for marking the hotel as a 4 rather than a 5 overall was the selection and quality of food in the restaurant. There were only four options - lamb & veal (neither of which my husband will eat from choice), and two fish dishes (and neither of us can eat fish!). Cooking was mediocre. All were expensive - but unfortunately that's par for everywhere in New Caledonia.
But we'd definitely stay here again...

Picture perfect resort right on the beach.
Comfortable 2 story motel complex with idyllic
individual comfortable cabins dotted In the gardens , and along the beach.
Great bar and restaurant complex, with outdoor settings alongside the pool.
beautifull sandy beach, with a little island close to shore.

A beautiful place to stay

This is Lara writing this review, David is my husband ;-).We had a short but very sweet stay here. Everything was lovely and we got to relax on the beach and enjoy swimming in the sea. The staff were helpful and kind. Our French was limited but it didn't cause a problem here at all. Thanks everyone for helping make this the most relaxing and enjoyable stay during our week in New Caledonia.

Nice hotel on the beach

It's in the middle of nowhere but still very nice. Great beach bungalows and not so great old style rooms in the main building. Staff poorly trained but it is made up for by gorgeous views from beach bungalows.

The ony place on the entire coast

Literally the only decent place on the entire coast, it's a fine hotel with nice rooms and a first class restaurant, all in pleasant surrounds. The only disappointment was finding out that I was paying 50% above the rack rate.
