This property was truly a disappointment to me. They rate themselves as a five star but I believe that are not any where close to that. The only real positive to this property is the view of the lake.
The quality of the food on the restaurant was extremely bad. It was a Buffett and The food was also cold.
Staff do not speak English so it’s a great challenge to communicate. Restaurant orders take almost 30 to 45 minutes to get a soda and a slice of cake. The restaurant staff never come to you. You would have to go to them and no smiles and very unfriendly.
I asked for an iron and they said that they do not provide one instead they will do your intoning and it cost 16$ for a pair of jeans and 3 Tshirts.
The toiletries in the bathroom is shocking. Even a little bar of soap is so cheap that it is as hard a a rock and produces no lather at all.
This was a true disappointment to having a pleasant stay.

Tired place with good, relaxed atmosphere

This must have been a great hotel when it was new, decades ago. The staff are great. The rooms are tired, but clean. The overall atmosphere is good, and the pool area is nice. The breakfast was very mediocre (stale pastries, coagulated milk for coffee), but lunch was fine. The outdoor area in the restaurant was dirty and there were a lot of flies pestering clients. It’s a good location close to the airport.

Nothing worked here at this seriously delapidared hotel - shower leaked and flooded the entire bathroom, phone didn’t work, room was full of mosquitoes, walls looked dirty

Awesome staff. Clearly work hard to make sure guests are happy. Maintenance is important - staff always working to improve things. Breakfast is great, as well as everything we ordered from the menu.

Staff are all wonderful. From the team at the reception to the cleaner who cleaned my room, the guides who kept showing me the right path to the driver. Room was perfect. Its the breakfast that was just good and maybe not so excellent.

Not the newest but by far the best location in Bujumbura. Breakfast on the beach and swims in the lake are a real luxury.

The place has good location by the lake but it’s far from town and you need car. It’s old hotel and needs more renovations. The food at the restaurant is way too expensive. Just small fish with vegetables is $14 Yiu can go to town and get way cheaper food then at the hotel. Money wise it’s too expensive for the quality. The Goodlife Residence which at the top of the mountain is half price cheaper.

Hotel on Lake Tanganyika

The hotel is situated on Lake Tanganyika, the room I stayed in overlooked the lake and the beach. The grounds are beautiful with lots of trees, shrubs, plants and flowers. The pool was quite nice and well maintained. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, although rather dated. From my opinion and based on various places I have stayed, the hotel is over priced, although may be one of the best hotel options you may currently find in Bujumbura. The hotel restaurant had a comprehensive menu selection and most items were available. Staff were very friendly and accommodating - I was able to check in early and check out later than the posted check in and check out times.

Great location close to the beach, nice new gym

Excellent for relaxing and getting away from noise of the city. I liked the amenities of the gym and sauna. Food is available at all hours. Staff was very pleasant and polite. Very nice espressos!

What a breath of fresh air the hotel was. I loved every single second there and I wish I could have been able to stay an extra day or so
Communication with the note before my arrival was unbelievable- for every single email sent I receive a reply in less than 5 min ( including at midnight)
During my stay, can't say that was anything which I can say a wrong thing. Everything what I requested was provided in no time, the rooms simple but cozy, comfortable and very clean, food great... Have no words to say how well I felt.
Also so peaceful - just the sound of the birds and waves, far away from cars and sirens and other normal big city noises
If I will ever travel to Bujumbura, I know that there is no way to chose different hotel. I would stay again and again here and I will definitely recommend it to other people

great facilities but below standard rooms

I think the only reason anybody rates this hotel 4 star is because of the facilities -- olympic size pool, massage, etc., that other hotels don't have. It's close to the lake but so are a lot of other hotels nearby who have much nicer rooms. I would rate the facilities of the hotel as 3 star and the rooms as 2 star. Because of the pool, it's a great hotel for families but next time I'll stay at one of the other hotels/resorts.

Decent hotel in a good location

Burundi is not a country where one would expect to find a decent hotel. This hotel is expensive for what you get, but it is better to stay here than many other places that are also expensive and dumps. The hotel is well located on the shores of Lake Tanganyka. This is a real plus. The restaurant is good. The pool is a god send on a hot humid day.

Club du Lac - great location

The best thing about Club du Lac is the location on the lake, with a great beach and close to the Rusizi reserve. Also, the room was clean and staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel grounds are beautifully framed by the Tanganyika Lake and well-trimmed gardens. The pool area is also very nice. Overall, hotel staff delivers a good service
However, the hotel rooms need serious maintenance. There are mold stains everywhere and the bathroom facilities are definitely outdated and dysfunctional. The TV is small and only 3 channels are available. The rooms definitely do not reflect the price of this hitel

Stay was perfect. Staff is excellent. The only problem was that they had not received the reservation (made weeks earlier) from hotels.com and I had to call customer service to call the hotel to confirm that I had already paid for the room.

But if you are in Bujumbura for business there is no better place to stay. Room was impecable (I had a junior suite), pool and amenities perfect, restauarnt top notch. I definitely recommend this hotel.

So stayed here while at a conference and the check in was ok, room ok and food (when you finally got it, 45 mins - 1 hour later) also ok.
The service was out of the world appalling! On 3 different occasions I asked for a cup, glass and cutlery and was told to go pick it up myself in the bar! There were always 4-5 staff just standing.

Amazing pool

The buildings look like a boarding school from the 1960'ies, but the pool area is very nice and the rooms were fine. The location on the lake shore is great, but it is a bit far fom town. The food was fine and the menu selection quite wide.
