This was 3 series of steps down.Room 8 is also next to 9.
Extremely difficult to carry your bags down when you arrive and extremely difficult to climb those steps back.
One wooden step was loose and partially broken. Fall hazard.
Room was clean and comfortable, Doorknob to the bathroom was broken.

This is a lovely guesthouse in a beautiful farm setting. We enjoyed seeing all the lambs with their mamas coming in. We had a spacious room and ours came with a private bath, which is a rarity in Iceland. The staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast was really good: different breads, cheeses, fruit, cold cuts, etc.

The guesthouse is down a long gravel road/driveway. Our rental car handled it well. We had a room on the first floor and it was a little loud because the dining room was just a few feet from our door. Our room was clean. The breakfast was great: cheeses, jams, fresh breads, cut fruit, hard boiled eggs. We would stay again!

Lovely view. Welcoming staff, but that’s about where the compliments end. There was absolutely no temp control on the room. We were placed in the wrong room, we paid for an upgrade and never got it, and the hotel was sold out so they couldn’t change our room despite the $70 upgrade we paid. Very disappointing and that was just the start. No trash can in the room, shower flooded, room was so so hot and no way to cool it down since the window only opened a few millimeters. The bed and room was left a bit dirty and there was no working soap /shampoo dispenser or products available. No trash can in common areas either including the dining room /reception. The bathroom fullllllly flooded when we tried to shower. Really disappointing overall but the view was amazing. The hotel was super hot /overheated and no heaters in the room to be able to adjust. Really disappointing.

Off the beaten track but worth the effort

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who gave us a quick introduction to the property and our accommodation. Our cabin was separate and independent from others or the main building which was nice. It felt like our little home for the night. Great vistas over the vast and stunning surrounding countryside from our porch. The accommodation was simple but good however there was no shower gel, shampoo, or washcloths in our bathroom, which is otherwise experienced as standard in Iceland.

There were significant winds and driving hail overnight but our cabin felt very solid and secure.

Breakfast was varied and quite good, with really nice fresh baked bread to start the day.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff pleasant and helpful. We opted for dinner at the guesthouse because Hofn is 40 minutes away. Dinner was good. Breakfast was adequate- skyr with granola, cereal, bread and spreads, hard boiled eggs, meat and cheese, etc. The room could really use more hooks to hang jackets, and also to hang towels.

Good stopover on ring road.

Stayed one night on our Iceland ring road trip. Parking was easy. Check-in went smoothly. Cabin was a good size although bathroom a little squeeze. NIce view over fields and well away from main building and other lodgings. Breakfast was great and plentiful.

This guesthouse is located around 3.5km down a gravel road just off the ring road, which means it is so peaceful and has fantastic views of the the surrounding area (including the glacier), We arrived here at 8pm after a very long day driving. We hadn’t eaten so we’re pleased we made it in time for dinner (we had to take our seats and order immediately). As other reviews had recommended the lamb, we both chose that and were not disappointed, it was beautiful. The room (we paid extra to have a room in the main building with our own bathroom) was modern and very warm. Simply furnished but fine for one night, but those views! We enjoyed watching the wildlife from our window, (we were in the eaves of the building) so many species of birds and also sheep with cute lambs frolicking. Breakfast was a simple buffet with enough choice to set us up for the day, I can highly recommend the freshly baked bread.

Charming with gorgeous rooms.

We loved the area, charm and delicious breakfast. Our upstairs room was good. The only complaint was it was too warm for sleeping very comfortably, but that has been the case where ever we have stayed in Iceland, and was a bit stuffy without a lot of ventilation. When we cracked the windows open a bit, a few flies from the farm got in, but didn’t bug us; they remained at the window panes. The dining room and deck have gorgeous views, and we enjoyed roaming the property taking photos of the views, many lambs (we were there in May), and the birds.

Parking was not easy (for us at least)
middle of nowhere (quite literally)- so no food options and we missed the restaurant.
breakfast was good!!!!
we had a bathroom in our room which was AMAZING!!! we were so surprised we were so happy!
no heater in this room so very kinda inconvenient to try and wash some clothes if they got dirty from an excursion.
but overall very spacious, nice staff, good breakfast. would stay again

Location was remote but the hospitality was excellent! We received a lovely breakfast with our room rate. Bread and baked goods were freshly home made. A good selection of cold cuts and cheeses, fruit, and boiled egg were provided. We ate in for dinner (not included) and had roast lamb and lamb burger. Delicious! Room was clean; linens were provided; warm and cosy overnight stay. Yes definitely recommend.

The location was great, far enough off the road to be away from the bustle, but close enough that with a car its easy to get to. Close to the Glacier. Far enough away from places that you can see the northern lights if you walk back along the road a bit (I spent one night and managed to see them).

Room was spotless, with everything I needed.
Breakfast was included and had a nice selection.

Guesthouse Nýpugarðar is on a local farm. It is very quaint and friendly. Breakfast is included which was nice. There is a dinner as well, which is an extra cost, but is sourced locally. This hotel will give you a taste of farm life with some modernization.

We were there when it was quite warm in southern Iceland, so our room was a bit hot. We should have used the fans they provided, so it was probably our fault. Very nice stay overall.

The garbage from the precious person was not taken out and and it smelt, terrible. the room also smelt like an old smoker. The bed wasn’t made and the towels looked like they had been used. I honestly was unsure if anyone cleaned the room after the last person. I ended up sleeping in my sleeping bag.
But the host was nice and the breakfast was very nice. The view of the mountains was lovely and I can imagine you can see the northern lights at times.

We were especially impressed by the dinner service—the lamb burgers were delicious and filling! The complimentary breakfast also had lots of choices and was well-stocked. This is an excellent property which is highly under rated. The biggest issue here is that the property is really under-marketed. It is far far far better than seen in photos and descriptions.

We stayed in one of the individual cabins (rather than hostel). There are only two of these and they are set aside from the rest of the property.

At night you have a great view over the land with ability to watch the sunset

The view in the morning is speculator and potentially the best we had in our week long stay in Iceland. You have a huge view of the land with mountains in the background. You wake up with a view of 3 different glaciers.

Breakfast is varied and filling.

You have to try dinner at the venue. The venue is based on a lamb-farm, and locally sourced lamb is served! All food is reasonably priced (for Iceland) and service is great. The downside is that the other nearest resteraunts are in Hofn, which is a 30 min drive away. If you do go out there - check out Pakkhus.

Amazing food, views and experience!

Two of my favorite Iceland experiences packed into one stay. Glaciers and feeding baby lambs!! First, this guesthouse is located just off 1, but is on acres of beautiful farm land. We stayed in room 9, which was a private individual building with wonderful views of the glaciers and mountains. Also, another benefit of being on farm land, we were lucky enough to feed the baby lambs in the morning (they saw how excited I was about lambs). Plus you have fresh delicious food. Breakfast is included and has a lovely spread of food including bread from the family recipe, eggs, yogurt, cereal, meats and cheese. The dinner is incredible as well. The cost is not included in the stay, but you MUST order dinner. One of our best traditional Icelandic meals and reasonably priced. The owners are so sweet. The guesthouse was clean and had amazing views!!

This place is definitely a gem that people must experience.

The view from the rooms was the best--mountains on one side and ocean on the other. There were also sheep all around which provided a more authentic Iceland experience. The only comment I would make is that in these times (when as a U.S. citizen you need a negative Covid-19 test to get back into the U.S.), Hofn only has the test available weekdays from 1300-1330. We found this out the hard way and had to leave early to get the test in Reykavik; however, the property and stay was amazing!

Beautiful room on a stunning farm.

Located a bit before you get to Hofn if coming from Vik, this guesthouse is located on a stunning farm by the ocean. Very, very clean- room was immaculate! I loved watching the little lambs jump around from my window. Apparently some guests don’t read or don’t like farms and say they can smell the sheep, but I can tell you it is simply not true. Yes, it is on a farm but it was so nice and SO CLEAN! Breakfast was included and what a spread! Due to Covid just easing up we were the only guests and she put out so many options: dried fruit, jams, toast, her homemade and DELICIOUS spice bread, meats, cheese, crackers, boiled eggs, tea and coffee, etc. Would DEFINITELY stay again! Thanks for such a nice stay!

The only disappointing stay

The actual condition of the guesthouse is not as what was shown in the picture.
We got the first room from the dining area, ventilation of the cooking smell is very bad. The carpet felt old and dusty. And the walls are thin, you can hear other travellers talking and laughing at night. Lastly it is about 4 - 5km away from route 1, road condition was quite bumpy . Do re-consider if travelling especially in winter.
