Absolutely loved our stay here - rooms were big, beautiful and clean. Pool was amazing and overlooks the beach with the most stunning of sunsets. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Our room was cleaned twice a day. Staff was always nice and friendly. The resort is quiet, well maintained, and lovely with an open beach to watch sunsets. Buffet breakfast offer lots of options including native food dishes and an omelette station every morning. There is also a swimming up bar at the pool that serve good cocktail drinks. I would stay there again.

Overall the hotel is lovely, and when lounging around the pool the view is beautiful. However, once you step onto the beach you can see lots of rubbish either side of the hotel boarders. I would not recommend swimming in the water there. This isn't a fault of the hotel, they do everything they can to keep their beach front clean, it's a general problem of the area. We still had a wonderful holiday.

We stayed twice at the Sudamala. Each time we had a different room. First was with a private pool. Great room. Second in a ocean view villa - also a great room.
Both were well done, great bathrooms, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was good. The pool area is very nice. Staff was friendly. My one issue was that the front desk did not have any money to make change. I thought this was a bit odd. Overall this is a great place to stay and relax. A bit out of town so need a taxi to get around, but we found it easy to arrange. Would definitely recommend.

Very peaceful. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly, helpful staff. Food was tasty and there was a good variety. Pool is lovely and there is a nice view. Unfortunately the beach is not great but fantastic beaches are a boat ride away (from the harbour).
It is away from the main part of town so very quiet. A driver to town is approximately $12 USD per way.

The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast we have ever had. There was a mix of Indonesian and western food with fresh juices, fresh croissants and pastries, a selection of bread, egg station, option to have iced or hot coffee etc. We had the villa with private pool and it was incredible. Very clean with a beautiful semi outdoor bathroom and lovely pool with jets. The staff were very attentive and even provided us with a drink and cold flannels on arrival and assisted with luggage. A true luxury stay.

I have traveled extensively.
I am a Canadian who has been living and traveling in Asia for 3 years now.
Yes there are some amazing properties, but this one really stands out in comparison to others in the same price range. The food was fantastic, the staff (all of them) were exceptional. The spa was gorgeous, and the ease with which the front desk staff dealt with reservations for us in town, transportation and information was fantastic.
The diving was among the best I have ever done, even in comparison to the Maldives and Turks and Caicos. Definitely worth a trip!

Our stay at Sudamala Resort Labuan Bajo was nothing short of exceptional.

The resort offers a truly luxurious feel, set along a secluded beachfront that creates an immediate sense of peace and exclusivity. It’s the perfect place to unwind, especially after exploring Komodo.

What stood out most was the staff — easily among the best hospitality we’ve experienced. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, which made the stay all the more memorable.

The food was also a highlight. It was the best we had in Labuan Bajo — the breakfast spread was generous with plenty of variety, and the Indonesian dishes were authentic and full of flavour.

We upgraded to a private villa with a pool, and it was absolutely worth it. Having our own space, combined with touches like a floating breakfast, really elevated the experience and added an extra layer of luxury.

The complimentary airport shuttle was another thoughtful touch, making arrival and departure seamless.

The only minor downside was the spa pricing. Although we were offered a 20% Expedia discount, it couldn’t be used alongside the happy hour massage rates (morning sessions). Overall, the massages felt quite expensive — particularly once service and tax (around 21%) were added. We ended up visiting Manta Spa in town, which offered a similarly upscale experience at a more reasonable price point. That said, this was a small drawback in what was otherwise a 5-star experience!

Highly recommend this resort.

We had the most incredible time staying at Sudamala Komodo, and neither of us have stayed anywhere quite like it.
The care, compassion and attentiveness of everyone was wonderful. It felt personal, friendly and you were made to feel at home.
We loved our room, spending days by the pool and the beach and the bedtime story that is delivered each evening.

We would be absolutely back again.

A beach hotel, this is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a great base to go to Komodo national park and follow other water sport pursuits. The pool is nice with a big pool bar. Evening dining a la carte choice is a little disappointing and could offer more choice for vegetarians. Rooms are nice with large comfortable beds.

An Outstanding Hotel in Labuan Bajo

A wonderful hotel with attractively coloured and perfumed flowers and trees all around the hotel complex, providing both natural shade and beauty. Staff take care of your every need in a courteous and pleasant manner. The main pool, interestingly, has two tiny islands with frangipani trees which occasionally drop petals into the water: such a lovely touch and so unusual. The courtyard pool have waterspouts and surrounding greenery too.

Amazing resort which was as perfect as you could wish for.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and always smiling.
We had a spacious Kelimatu suite which was spacious, well appointed, had a lovely balcony, and a massive bed.
The location on the beach is great as was the food. Amazing and above what we had expected and very reasonably priced for a UK traveller.
Great free breakfast too.
Would recommend this resort without hesitation.

We enjoyed our stay at Sudamala. We had a garden room which was quite good, but fairly plain inside, with a small verandah outside, It was comfortable and quiet. Breakfasts were OK, the cooked options sometimes did not go well together. The Bar and restaurant were good if a little pricey. The standout part for me was the really excellent massage i received. The biggest disappointment was the beach. i had not looked at it on Google maps. If I had I would have realised it was near a river and it being the end of the wet season, the water was quite brown with silt. That said staff kept the beach spotless and we saw some spectacular sunsets. Finally it is about an hour walk from town, although there is a shuttle that runs a few times a day.

If you get a room on the second floor be prepared for a steep walk up to your room! Some of the ground level rooms have a private outdoor shower and toilet. We had a couple of frogs and sometimes a small lizard watching us. The rooms closest to the reception you will notice a smell like sewage. It could be coming from the pond in the center courtyard, (the water is stagnant and dark green) but it does not affect the room, only if you are sitting out on the porch. Everything is very expensive, food, tours etc and the only transportation around the island is cab. Although over priced, the food was incredibly!

My room was gorgeous, spacious and had a beautiful view of the grounds: there was so much lush greenery—you are literally waking up to a tropical paradise!

I enjoyed local cuisine at the restaurant and enjoyed the beachfront views. I had a lovely spa experience and the breakfast is absolutely delicious:

I was provided a breakfast box & coffee for my Komodo Island boat tour upon request and it came in handy!

If you want to zen out & decompress from the stressors of your day to day: come here, you won’t regret it!

- Comfortable beach / pool chairs

Cons:
- Outdoor bathroom with the bugs and lizards
- Food at pool bar was horrible
- When checking out, front desk agent was asleep (5:30am), so we just had to leave without confirming check out
- LOTS of bugs (probably out of their control) made it hard to relax on the beach with ants crawling all over you and flies landing on you

The restaurant is ok - not the best, not the worst but fairly expensive. There aren't really any shops or restaurants nearby so keep that in mind with regards to buying supplies.

Disappointing and not for me!

I have very mixed views about this hotel. We had a most wonderful time on Komodo Island. The trip we arranged privately was superb, but this is the 1 hotel that i could not wait to leave.

Positives
+ lovely gardens, which are well maintained.
+ large rooms
+ effective air conditioning
+ direct access to the beach.

Cons
- when we arrived, our balcony was not locked. The reception informed us thT it did not lock and that security patrolled, so not an issue. Being in a previous situation where we had an intruder in our room, this was not good enough. We had no sleep and had to be up at 4am to leave for a trip. On the morning of day 2, when we requested a different room, we were told that in fact it did lock. This was not good enough.

- breakfast was the worst that we had on our trip. Flies were crawling over the bread in the corner, which was uncovered. Birds sweep in and out on the food. Noo e from the hotel ensures that it is covered. I left my breakfast as the hygiene was not up to standard.

- we had a meal in the hotel. Again, the worst we had (and the most expensive).

I can see why some people love this. If yiu want to sit by the pool and overlook the ocean, then this resort would be for you. I would not return.

The rooms were nice and spacious except for the fact that one of my pillows smell like pee and some of the towels seem to have stains. Is a few mosquitos around so keep that in mind.

Great stay. I was traveling for days from Bali in my Ranger. Had a crossing from Sape to Labuan Bajo. I was stuck 2 nights in Sape waiting on the ferry. If you’ve ever been. It’s the dirtiest place I’ve been. Possibly the worst place on the planet to be stuck.
Not including war zones. Any way I needed a great place. Great food and pool area.

BEST VACATION EVER!!

We often say it’s never about the place; it’s always about the people. We were treated to the utmost of kindness here at Sudamala Resort. The facility is pristine, supremely clean and well designed with easy walkways, beautiful gardens, and magnificent accommodations. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and welcomes us in every way. The meals were superb with exquisite presentation. We could not have asked for a better vacation. We are very grateful to have experienced this paradise and some surrounding islands, and so thankful to every person we met. Thank you Sudamala Resort. We will return!!
