It is situated on the privately owned Gondwana Canyon Park. It is only 20 kms from the main viewpoint of Fish River Canyon.
The lodge is an ideal starting point for visits to the Fish River Canyon. The reception, an indoor restaurant and the bar area can be found here.
There is a safe in reception for the safekeeping of valuables. As the building has been constructed by using mostly local stone, the farmhouse has been decorated with various farm implements, evoking memories of the pioneering farming days.
Guests can relax on the shaded terrace, or laze beside the swimming pool. 25 natural stone chalets with air conditioning, en suite bathroom and thatched roofs, nestle between massive granite boulders and convey a sense of living in the lap of nature.
With a stay at Canyon Lodge & Cabins - Inside the Park in Canyon Junction (Canyon Village), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Canyon Visitor Education Center. This lodge is 1.9 mi (3.1 km) from Lower Yellowstone Falls and 2.4 mi (3.9 km) from Upper Yellowstone Falls.

I have one suggestion. They need to get more robust wifi in the guest rooms. With no TV, people are stuck with streaming, and, at night, the stream often lags, stutters, and stops altogether.

Generally the room was nice. No microwave, small fridge and coffeemaker. The lighting was dim throughout the room and hallways. The bathroom tub had mold/mildew around edges needing caulk replacement. We had to empty our own trash into weird receptacles in the foyer that were filthy. The staff was nice and helpful. There were good walking paths to the village.

Afyer a long day of exploring, itd be nice to watch some sports or news. At least tell us in the description- I cant think of a hotel weve ever stayed at with no tv.

The Canyon Lodge was conveniently located in the middle of the park but it still takes at least an hour to get anywhere. The room was very clean and modern and check-in with the staff was friendly and a breeze. We liked being across from the main registration lodge so that we can walk over to grab a pizza or breakfast sandwiches. Would definitely stay here again!

First of all I paid $500 / night. I checked in in the evening at dark and there is very very limited lighting, basically pitch dark in the parking lot, and around the lodge. In the lodge I stayed at there is no easy way to unload your luggage. You have to take the luggage rack out to the dark parking lot to get it out your car and through the side walks eventually to your room. Then once in your room there is hardly any lighting there also. The room is dark even with all the lighting on. The room has no TV, and the wifi is terrible for streaming. Also you have to take a shower in luke warm water because it doesn't get hot. Then of course you have to call each day for room service and they question what type of service you want. The food at the Canyon Village is worse than your school cafeteria but cost $50 for two.

Beautiful lodge and a great central location in Yellowstone. I do wish there had been more food options both in the lodge and in Canyon village. We stayed 5 nights and our room was never cleaned. I went to the front desk to pick up towels, coffee and even toilet paper. We had looked forward to spending time at the outdoor fire pit, but it was never lit. That was very disappointing. Coffee wasn’t free, and I think it should have been. A little disappointed overall for what it cost, but it’s a beautiful lodge.

We had a wonderful tie at Yellowstone and I would recommend anyone to go. The Hotel was ideally located and the rooms were nice. The FOOD was TERRIBLE at the Canyon Village. Same menu three nights in a row and it was like slop. I am a vegetarian and my wife sad the chicken was nice but the Mac and cheese and chines was awful. You have to make some pretty poor Chinese for me to say no as I LOVE chines food but this was a cereal dinner trip for me because the food was just bland and poor and EXPENSIVE. The food did not in any way ruin my trip the whole adventure was awesome and we will go back but we will not stay at a “captive food” place like Canyon Village as it is way over priced for poor food. The rooms are also expensive but such a great location.

It has stains from a thousand years of use. Add to that, we were allocated a room right next to the ice machine (the only ice machine). That is how Xanterra gets even with you for not booking with them.

Stay outside of the Yellowstone Park if you have kids. The rooms are way overpriced, no TV, they give you a fridge but no way to heat up food the only microwave was over 20 minutes away. What they do have for food is super fancy, not a lot of options, and not suited for kids!! If you just need a bed still not comfortable. It's what you expect out of $80 motel. I will never stay here for the park again for the money and lack of amenities. Also no AC so if you want to chill your room off you need to open the window which you will hear car alarms and people talking at all hours.

One of five locations in the park. Centrally located, near Yellowstone Canyon. Food selection is good but if you are looking for fancier fare try Yellowstone Lake hotel or the dining room at Mammouth Hit Springs. Accommodations and food at the Canyon Lodge were generally good especially if you have small children. Wildlife including elk, deer, and bison were ever present at this location.

Everything is great! Location is so perfect. There is a 0.5 mile trail between cabin 26 and 27 to Grand View of Grand Canyon North Rim. We hiked the trail in very early morning. So wonderful!

Set in a beautiful location, Canyon Lodge was extremely basic and overpriced. Rooms needed updating and looked as if they’ve been stuck in the 1980s. No restaurant on site , only a small cafe that attracted long queues. Bed wasn’t that comfortable and pillows small and lumpy. Maybe this typical in a government funded American National Park. The room was dark even with lights on and vending drinks machine outside room only took dollar bills. The beauty of Yellowstone outweighed the disappointment of the lodge.

If you come back late there's absolutely no parking and they do not accommodate. The room beds are super uncomfortable. They do not clean daily. The worst part was the food !!! Terrible !!! Very limited options. They had frozen pizza with a lady cooking in one little toaster like over 15 pizzas wait time past an hour and pizza looked disgusting. Place needs an upgrade with dinning. No water or drinks inside of room available. I recommend staying outside of the park because the food inside Yellowstone is horrible except in old faithful snow lodging, which is better looking property.
