I had an e mail to say that the restaurant would be closed on the evening of my stay but they would book another restaurant for me, if I would so wish. I replied yes
Too late to start looking for another hotel although the whole reason for choosing this hotel was to be able to have a good dinner in pleasant surroundings on site, without going out again
I had looked at the on line photos ( caveat emptor) and thought it looked
a pleasant country house type of place to stay. All the usual stuff, nice looking dining room, outside seating area, pretty bedrooms etc
When I arrived no one had booked another restaurant for me. I was told there were several about 15 minutes walk away. A pizza place was mentioned
The outside covered space was very pretty. It was also full of a family party of over 20 people who were just starting lunch at 3 pm!!
They finally left after 8 pm

Lovely building and good parking and outside space
The weekend we stayed we were the only guests. The staff were friendly and courteous. Despite being the only guests we were given rooms tucked away on the second floor. Rooms were basic. Shower lukewarm. Bed comfortable. My room was conspicuously short of lights, and felt gloomy. 2 lights in the bathroom and 1 in the entrance were not working. Apparently nothing could be done to rectify this because it was the weekend (probably only new light-bulbs were needed). Good breakfast.

This is a charming hotel with attentive service, comfortable and elegant room, and exquisite cuisine. It might be a little pricey but still worth the extra!

Hotel is in lively location and has a lot of character. Arrived mid afternoon to be told no food was unavailable. At dinner one menu had two starters one of which was unavailable and two mains one of which was unavailable so had to choose from a limited a la carte. Breakfast was very basic for 16 euros per person!
Manager explained that hotel was quiet on Mondays and Tuesdays. The only thing 4star about this hotel was the price.

We were en route to the UK from Spain and picked this hotel for it's location so there were places to walk our dog. The hotel was nice and quaint and an enjoyable stop over, although we found our room a bit dark and small for the three of us but on the whole enjoyed it as we were only staying one night. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful translating the French menu for us and although the meal took quite some time to arrive between courses, they kept bringing appetizers to fill in the time but the restaurant was full, which may have been the reason for the long wait between courses. It was still very enjoyable French cuisine. Slightly expensive but then we do find France more expensive than Spain.

Quiet retreat on the outskirts of town
The hotel was in a nice quiet rural setting on the edge of town, but was still only a short 10-15 minute walk from downtown. There was a covered bistro area in front of the hotel. Roads in the area were not often used, so it was easy to go running from the hotel. By European standards, the room was spacious. My only complaint was the 16 euro breakfast, which included only coffee, yogurt, a small bite of fruit, and a couple of small pastries, croissants. When I asked for some cheese, I was told it was available for an additional charge.

Everything about this little hotel was terrific except the food. Although we read a review posted at the hotel about the creativity of the chef, we were quit disappointed. The food was pretty but bland. One course was completely inedible. The dessert was the best part of the meal. There are wonderful restaurants in little towns nearby that are less expensive and worth the drive. However,, all-in-all, I would stay there again.

Idéalement situé, l'hôtel St Martin offre un cocon de calme et de verdure à 6 minutes à pied du coeur de la ville.
Chambre probablement refaite récemment, bonne literie et propreté parfaite.

Néanmoins, surtout pour un 4 étoiles, certains points sont regrettables/à améliorer :

Nous avons fait une escale à l'hôtel Saint-Martin en remontant du Pays-Basque vers la région Parisienne. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cet hôtel de charme. Je recommande vivement la suite classique très spacieuse et joliment décorée. Nous avons aussi eu le plaisir de diner sur place en terrasse, dans une ambiance bucolique et profitant d'un repas excellent. Enfin le personnel était très professionnel et agréable, toujours aux petits soins.

Après avoir regardé le site web de l’hôtel nous étions ravis de passer une nuitée et dîner dans ce logis . Rien à redire sur la chambre conforme à nos attentes . Mais la restauration y compris le petit déjeuner étaient tellement décevants . Les plats signatures annoncés n’étaient pas au rendez-vous. Les extérieurs de l’hôtel ne sont pas entretenus. quel gâchis pour cet hôtel magnifique....

Nous avions choisi cet hôtel pour le calme, pour récupérer lors d'une étape de route. L'hôtel était parfait pour cela. Nous avons très bien dormi. Les lits étaient particulièrement confortables.

Excellent accueil, très bonne literie et moquette, très belle décoration et une belle piscine.On regrettera cependant une chambre trop étroite (pas de place pour un chevet à droite) et une douche à rénover. Surtout, nous regrettons l'amateurisme de la personne à la réception le jour du départ, \"réceptionniste\" qui voulait absolument nous faire payer la chambre que nous avions déjà payée à Hotels.com. Ce désagrément nous a fait perdre plus de 20 minutes au moment du départ.
