The resort was close to the ocean. There is a beach walk that connects the hotels, restaurants and shopping. The staff was friendly and the grounds were well kept. Tiki torches were lit at night. The only negative my husband and I had was the pool area. There is no shade and the sun can be brutal. There are no umbrellas available. Also the pool looked a bit worn.

Least accommodating stay of our trip. AC in room never increased to temperature, staff notified and seemed to be blown off. Expect to be nickel and dimed for resort fees and parking but get little value in return. A good hotel at best but by no means a resort warranting fees. You will find better value at the Whaler Resort.

They are very limited on any amenities at the pool, the snack bar was only open part of the time. Restaurant has limited menu. 25/day to rent a chair to sit on beach, not worth it as you will only last about 2 hours in the sun.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon. We put that in the reservation when booking and when we arrived we received nothing not even an acknowledgment that is why we were there. We’ve stayed at the Outrigger on Waikiki Beach in Oahu 20+ times and we have to say this experience of the Outrigger of Kaanapali beach was extremely disappointing. The staff was not friendly or helpful. We were able to check in right away at Waikiki beach but here they would not let us. We had to wait 2 hours for our room to get ready. The bathroom of our premium king bed was very small. The view of our room was good though. We had a red eye flight on our last day so we had 10 hours to spare and it was the first day the sun had finally came out on our stay. We asked if they had late checkout or if the had a hospitality room for us to use after checkout so we could go to the beach and then shower and leave they said that we are welcome to change in their bathrooms and use the showers by the beach. Not helpful at all. Not to mention you walk any direction and the facility’s of these other hotels look well kept and up to date. The pool at this outrigger was disgusting. The water was murky and hadn’t looked cleaned in a very long time we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and blame the rain but when we walked to any resort down the road their pools were gorgeous and looked clean. For the price of this hotel we were extremely let down by the all around hospitality.

The hotel is run down, the pool looks as though it has not had any maintenance for a long time and is tired, there are very few sun loungers for the amount of guest, the onsite restaurant is understaffed, expect wait times of more than 30mins for breakfast. The beach loungers and cabanas are worn and costly. Oue exec suite was average and only had a partial view of the sea. Wouldn't stay here again

Getting an umbrella or chair to enjoy the beach was near impossible. A third party handles all beach rentals and activities. They are serving the general public and guests of other hotels as well as Kaanapali Beach Resort. This meant by 9:00am all rentals were taken for the day. If you wanted to enjoy the pool there was zero shade. If you're coming to Hawaii to enjoy the water, this is NOT the hotel to stay at.

The hotel is older but its clean and nice. The people are friendly. I love watching the ocean from our lanai in the morning. The location is amazing. Close to black rock for snorkeling and whalers village for shopping and restaurants. It was a 4 minute walk to whalers village and about 4 minutes to blackrock. The beach is amazing. This really is one of the best beaches in the world. The Ohana pickleball club is a few minutes from the resort which was a plush. The vallet crew were very friendly. Especially enjoyed my interactions with Ron. I would stay here again. I really enjoyed the fresh fruit cup and the banana bread from the little store they have at the hotel.

We enjoyed a partial view of the ocean from our balcony. We also appreciated Laundry facilities on the property. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We did notice that most of the time during our stay approximately half of the elevators were not working. Good thing we don't mind taking the stairs!

Wonderful cultural experience every cultural educator was amazing!!! Best part actually. DO NOT buy tours at the concierge or the breakfast vouchers. Breakfast at Maui Brewing not worth it (the servers were actually not happy to take them either) and using the $100 tour credit at concierge was still more expensive than just buying from the tour company right on the beach or online. Felt very ripped off by the hotel on that part. Plenty of places to get breakfast that are much better.

They charge for basics like a lounger on the beach ($35/day), a resort fee every day ($45 plus taxes), and self parking ($25/day). I have no idea what the resort fee is for because there is no service here.
The property is dated -- peeling paint on walls, cracked pool cement from a 1960s pool (tiny btw), and deck chairs used in its lobby. There is absolutely no cache or cool esthetic at all. Just dull, old, outdated, sad. I'm embarrassed for Maui in offering so little to people who come here with high hopes.
As for the Maui Brewing Company restaurant on site, it is AWFUL. OVERPRICED AND TASTELESS.You need to drive away from whalers village to get anything worth eating. So really there is no food at this facility.
In a nutshell, do not stay at this hotel. It is well past its prime and will disappoint you.

We really enjoyed our stay at Outrigger! Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a Kona storm in it's 2nd week, so we were unable to enjoy any of the outdoor activities that the resort offers. We will be coming back to Maui though and would definitely stay at the Outrigger again.

We had an ocean front room. The room was lovely and was recently redone. The only restaurant at the hotel was Maui brewing company but it’s a short walk to wharler village where there are several restaurants. The pool is small no jacuzzi but the beach is amazing

If you’re going for a pool, this probably isn’t your hotel. It’s a small resort but… not always a bad thing, I realized.

It is a bit dated with only one eating establishment and could not even get a seat at the bar. Very dark at night on the property for a single traveler along with the outside corridors not providing much safety. I had to fight with my deadbolt daily to lock and there were no additional locks for safety just the one broken lock. People were absolutely fantastic especially the bell desk/valets. They always took time to chat with us and give suggestions. There was also a great guy at the beach shack that helped us with our casablanca? Young and friendly!!!!

It is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Maui. And I have been to Maui 4 times now. The layout of the hotel is phenomenal. It has more of a relaxing atmosphere. The staff from the front desk, the concierge (Sherry), house keeping staff. All so kind and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place. I will be coming back. 😊

The resort was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was super helpful and friendly. Even from our garden view, we still had a slight view of the ocean, which to me was an amazing vantage point. Waking up and seeing the beautiful flowers all over the ground was absolutely gorgeous and then walking out to the beach phenomenal. The ending ceremony was unique, special, informative, and very peaceful. We definitely will be back.

We had an ocean view room and it was very nice. We loved sitting on the balcony in the am and in the pm. The room was clean, and very comfortable. The onsite restaurant, Maui Brewing, was very beautiful on the beach and had good food. Would highly recommend a reservation tho, or you won’t be eating there in the evening. We were there during a “public safety power shutoff”. There were high winds prompting the Hawaii electric company to shut off power to the whole west side of Maui. No stores/restaurants were open. The Outrigger provided a few light items the next am for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and grilled burgers for dinner, at no cost. We appreciated the thoughtfulness because the power was off for 24 hours. The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was because when we booked this vacation package, it specifically said taxes and fees included. However, when we arrived at the hotel we were charged another $477.72 for resort fees. It seems all fees were not included. I would prefer paying ALL fees when it states “taxes and fees included”. Very nice place to stay, close to many things.

Let me start by saying, the staff is wonderful. There are no elevators, which I heard many people complain about. It took 45 or more minutes to check in and there wasn’t a line. When you’ve been on a plane for many hours, then a taxi for an hour and you finely reach your destination but it takes a long time to check it’s rough. The room had 2 very small drawers, and again I was traveling with my family so we had to live out of our bag for the week, because there are no luggage racks. The sand from the beach is really fine and gets all over the room, and the room doesn’t have any hooks for wet swim suits.

We paid for an upgraded ocean front room unfortunately it was on the first floor so it wasn’t great for whale watching and they couldn’t put us higher up because the rooms were filled so if you book an oceanfront room and you wanna wear a watch be sure to put that on your reservation to put you on an upper floor.

Our check in was good, they offered an upgrade on our room for $500 larger space so we took it. Arrived in the room and the room had a view of a large tree( no ocean view which we booked originally). This newly renovated room had no bathroom fan and a 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door, letting in light from the hall at night. There was a large tree directly outside the room with a spotlight that at night shined at the room. The pillows on this bed seemed as though they bought them at the dollar store (horrible, just a bunch of feathers in a bag). Two days into our stay the island lost power due to high winds(I do not blame the resort for this),we were without power for a full 24hrs. I did expect the resort to make good on the lost day without electricity which they didn’t. Overall I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The ocean views are obscured by a courtyard full of trees. The resort lacks a functioning restaurant.
