This is not what we expected. It was freezing. So so cold - the walls are super thin. There were no extra linens/blankets. The doors do not close (I’m guessing due to temp fluctuations) including the BATHROOM so that wasn’t great. My daughter was sick so the extra cold wasn’t great. I think there are two different types of cabins and we got the ones that should only be occupied in summer. The on-site restaurant is closed all winter and the nearest town also shuts everything early - so plan accordingly. There was no one to talk to about the cold etc so basically I think this place might be no-frills quaint and somewhat charming in summer. For us, it was a miserable stay.

It was a beautiful environment! The mountains and the stream and the waterfall. Beautiful. A cosy little cabin with two bedrooms. We could cosy up on the couch as well and watch a movie.

Surprisingly nice play to stay

I was honestly expecting an extremely rustic little cottage and this definitely wasn’t luxury but it was much prettier and more pleasant than I expected. The grounds are lovely, the horses are nice and easy hikes not in walking distance from the cabin. Cabin has a functional small kitchen with stove and even had cooking oil. Only hand soap available in bathroom but that comes with the territory, not even the nicest places we stayed in Iceland would qualify as luxury by US standards. Restaurant was good too. Recommend for anyone going to this area of the country.

The valley the cabins are located in is beautiful! Check in/out was super easy. Cabin was relatively clean. There was clearly some water damage in a few areas but overall a nice stop over stay.

A good cottage to stay in the middle of nowhere. The cottage is clean and comfortable. Quite roomy for our family of 4. And the living room is kind of nice; private kitchen and bath is another good things. We arrived in a rainy days. This cottage gave us the comfort feeling and restful night.

We love the cabañas

Perfect stay for our road trip. Good location. Very clean and comfortable. We love the place. The kitchen have everything to cook. Have stove and microwave. They have parking in front of the cabañas. The view is amazing. Every bed have blankets. Peaceful location. Have a very nice dining table for 4.

We only stayed one night and arrived late at night. Check in was easy and key left for us. Location was easy to find.

Safe and great views.

Only thing I could think of was some areas could use updated, for example blinds and shower heads (slow leak).

We would stay here again!

Like sleeping on a box of springs on each bed. The fridge was turned off when we arrived so we couldn’t keep our food cold for hours. The heat wasn’t working and we were cold all night. Mild growing on the edges of the cabins.
Lovely view and easy access, however improvements need to be made to keep charging this price.

We loved our stay at the Bragdavellir Cottages. We had dinner at the Bragdavellir Barn Restaurant. The food and the service were excellent. The view from the cottage was spectacular. The late checkout was very helpful as we slept in after a tiring day. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Iceland.

The location is outstanding with easy access to waterfalls, spectacular looking falls. We stayed in one day due to heavy rain and cold winds, but the views from the windows & porch were still amazing. Well built and insulated cottage. We were warm and dry, and the wind and rain were not loud, so the roof was well designed & insulated despite being metal on top. All amenities required, though kitchen pots & pans are old. Communicated with staff via email and replies were almost immediate. Ana, Stefan & Olena were great hosts who answered all my questions about the area.

Great views and location - waterfall is about a 20 min walk from the cottages. Cottage is well-appointed with everything you may need.

We had an issue during our stay and reached out to management who was very quick to respond and work toward resolving our issue.

We stayed in cabin 5, Gustur this past April and found multiple bed bugs in our room. Fortunately the staff gave us a refund, but the build of the cottage is not as nice as we expected. You can see the bare ground and dirt underneath openings in the wooden floor. As well as many of the wall linings were peeled off, revealing the inside of the build, which looked like a perfect place for insects and other critters to get warm during winter.

Excellent Location! Really beautiful. There is a waterfall at the back of property and is really nice. We really enjoyed the barn where the food was. Had a chance to meet and hang out with owner and very entertaining stay. Would stay there again. No reception but don't need it in a beautiful place like this in middle of nowhere.

Its a very nice place. Clean view was amazing.

Communication was horrible. When i asked them when the restaurant closes they said 9, but when i arrived they said they closed for the season. We were depending on the restaurant for food.

Also check in was slow
we were standing in the cold waiting for them to find the reservation and help us find the cottage over the phone

We got in late around 2215. I received only one email with a little info on check in. Front door of cabin was unlocked and heat was on, which was perfect seeing how it was cold and snowing. Only gripe would be the bed! Extremely uncomfortable. Other than that we left early and really didn’t tour the grounds. If beds were improved I’d definitely return.

Iceland Scouting Trip

Check-in was with a paper on the door of building to tell which cottage to stay in. The had not communicated that the breakfast was no longer available. I had to find out in the morning that the breakfast room was closed. They claim to have WiFi, which is true and full signal. But there is no internet connection, and the phone signal in the cottage is poor. So getting on the internet through WiFi or phone connection was not possible for the two days I was there.

nice cottage but no communication

While the actual cabin was well appointed, nicely decorated, clean and beautiful I am not sure I would stay here again. The entire stay we saw not one person from the cottages. We did receive an email that gave us the Cabin name in it however wanted to speak to someone with questions when we arrived. There was a phone in the reception area to pick up and dial "A" but when that was attempted it was a constant busy signal. The restaurant on the property was closed which was never conveyed to us. We planned to eat there after a long day of driving and had to than drive back 15min one way to the nearest town. There were also no animals on site which my kids were disappointed by. The cabin itself was nice but the lack of communication wasn't.

We arrived hoping to stay on-site for dinner, only to find out that a wedding had closed their restaurant. It would have been nice if someone from the hotel told us this, because we would have stopped somewhere for dinner earlier. Many restaurants close at 9 or 10pm in this area and we were lucky to find something nearby that was still open (but unfortunately very expensive).
Do not pay for their breakfast. You can go to a supermarket and buy bread, cold cuts, cheese, and cereal all for less than the cost per person.
The door to the bathroom did not latch; you had to force the lock each time you wanted to shut the door. This should be repaired.
There is no refrigerator in the cabin.
The couch and coffee table had seen better days - they were a bit dingy considering the price of these cottages.
Location is really what this place has going for it, which is why I gave them a 4/5 overall.

The restaurant on the property was surprisingly good. My wife and I both had the sheep burger which I would highly recommend.

The entire area was very peaceful and beautiful. The cabin kept us warm despite the strong blowing wind. My word of caution is that they did not provide any soap or shampoo, but thankfully we had some extra from the previous hotel that we stayed in. The wi-fi did not work at first, but then I realized it was because we had to go onto Facebook because they want you to check-in in order to use their wi-fi.

Check weather conditions before you go.

I think this place would be great if we weren't there when the wind was so bad. A storm rolled through and given the location, it felt like a wind tunnel. Soooooo loud all night. Cabins were cute but windows and walls didn't hold out the wind completely. Also - breakfast was not worth the price. I would make your own or go elsewhere.
