Denise and Rick and the whole staff were wonderful! They were very informative and helpful especially for us 1st timers to Amsterdam! The hotel is located in a great area able to walk to all the sights! And the price was reasonable!

The staff here were the most helpful, friendliest and knowledgeable staff I have ever come across at any hotel ever. When you asked for options, they either already knew the options or were very proactive in getting the information for you. Room is SUPER small but budget friendly. Location was right in front of a beautiful canal and walkable to city center. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. Breakfast options were pretty good too.

Unique room with a view of the canals. Some cleanliness issues. Spiral staircase would have been a problem if we weren't traveling with backpacks. Almost like climbing a ladder steep, with tiny treads of varying sizes. Requires some agility. Not a problem for us, but others might find it difficult to manage. Loud at night as it is near the red light district.

Room was very small. Once my suitcase was on the folding table, I had to squeeze around to the far side of the bed. Only able to open the room door barely enough to get out. We are small people. Would not recommend for anyone large! Sorry.

Very nice hotel, close to everything. Staff is extremely friendly, especially Rick. Very helpful, every recommendation was great. Bathroom and toilet in one, causes a bit of a mess when showering but not a huge deal in my eyes. They do have an elevator which is great with narrow stairs. Overall, I’d love to stay here again if I visit.

Frederick, made great recommendations for food and sightseeing and took some time for banter as well. The location is clean and close to the excitment. There was no AC in our room but we did have a fan however, the Dutch weather was not overhwhelming anyway.

What a great location. Very walkable to most areas. Had a hard time trying to pick a restaurant, so many to choose. Canal cruises are a must.
Hotel staff were very helpful, and always with a smile. The only negative thing is that there is no air conditioning. It was challenging to keep cool with a small fan on very warm days. The duvet had to go. I realize it is an old building (that is the charm) but maybe they could consider wall mount AC units.
Overall we were happy with our choice.

It's good value for money.

Our double room (303), was a comfortable size for two people, with enough space for bags and a small wardrobe. As expected for an older building in this area, the rooms are compact and the staircases narrow, but the presence of a lift was a definite bonus.

The modern bathroom was a highlight, though it did lack a shower guard, meaning the floor got quite wet after each use.

The room had a tv which had 16 satellite channels, including BBC 1, 2 and CBBC, the dutch channels also play English movies with Dutch subtitles. It's not a smart TV, so no Netflix built-in, but the Wi-Fi was good and strong, so if you're like me, definitely bring a Chromecast to stream your own content.

The bed was very comfortable, though I did wish the blanket had been a bit thinner for warmer nights. Speaking of warmth, our first day hit 28 degrees Celsius, and the room became quite hot and clammy. Luckily, that was the only super hot day, and it rained that evening, so the fan they provided and opening the windows did the trick. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a prolonged heatwave. The area is quite busy, so with windows open, noise can be an issue.

The main issues I had that prevented a perfect score: the carpet, curtains, and scuffed walls made the room feel a bit more dated; the potential for the room to get hot; and the wet bathroom floor after showering.

But overall, for a budget-friendly hotel in such a prime location, it genuinely exceeded my expectations

Highly Recommend for those who don't mind stairs.

We stayed in the annex where the stairs are VERY steep but it is now a fun part of our experience. The view made it worth it and the frint desk clerks were phenomenal!

We used the valet service and have a gew questions about the way our vehicle was returned to us but wouldn't blame the hotel for that.

Hotel Nes was a great hotel in a great location with public transportation nearby if walking is not for you. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from the Grand Centraal station.
The hotel was clean with great staff.

The staff was very nice and always happy to help us explore Amsterdam. The location of the hotel is also excellent, being a close walk to the red light district and the nine streets (which we particularly loved). There is also a Plaza very close by which is great for people watching and having a coffee break. The negatives are mostly that the room is more dated and the shower is opened, so we could never get warm.

Great location! Easy to walk to everything. Stairs were extremely steep up to our room and our building did not have elevator access, so not for anyone with knee problems. Outside was a little noisy at night but overall a good stay and would recommend. Also the hotel was great about transportation set up to the airport. We walked to the hotel from the train station which was about 20 minutes.

The room we picked was not accessible by elevator, and the stairs are crazy, but the staff was very kind and he brought our luggage up for us. Getting down the stairs wasn't too bad on our own. The room was clean with a nice view of the canal, and quiet once we closed the window. 20min walk to train station over cobblestone and brick, but easy to find.

I loved this little character hotel right down to the narrow windy staircase..dont worry there is an elevator. I was checked into a canal view room but really when you look out the frint you just see rooftops..you need to open the window and lean out to see the canal. My rooms was very, very tiny but functional. The staff here are excellent! Cant say enough about that. The decor is very dutch as well. It is very close to the top attractions and tours. I was no more than 20 minutes walk to anything.
