The room was spacious and clean with a lovely shower and separate toilet and bath. the room was serviced each day and bottled water and towels provided. Tea and coffee making facilities supplied. The breakfast Buffet was well presented with a nice variety of food. The staff were very courteous and attentive. The pool staff were excellent along with the food service poolside staff. We have been holidaying many times at the Bayview Beach Resort and never been disappointed with our choice of venue. congratulations to all the lovely staff who made our holiday such a lovely experience.

The hotel was very nice, check in was easy, the staff were very nice, easy to understand and helpful. The restaurant was nicely presented, the pool was amazing as was the ample sunbathing areas. The pool towel hut was always well stocked and the servers were always well presented and kind. There was also a nice area to purchase lunch and drinks through. I recommend the whole coconuts and the fish and chips. The MaiTai and pina colada cocktails were also refreshing. There were also massage people in the sunbathing area. Sun and Ricky (001) were particularly good! The room was BIG, king size bed, balcony, decent enough drawers and a closet. Big TV, big shower, bath and bathroom. Well lit and full floor to cieling balcony doors. However the room had black mould in it. It seemed to be painted over but it didnt help. I googled reviews and there was one tgat spoke about the mould and we spoke to a couple who were staying there when we were there and they had to move rooms twice. My wife and I bought some vinegar and cleaned the walls which made it better. We are also on the understanding that the hotel has been bought by another hotel company who will be renovating it. I hope it gets better as this hotel is pretty good. Just leave out the mould.

The property is so old, room furniture is soooo old and some of them are broken. Tv not working properly and had to ask the reception to send someone to fix it. Safe is not working and had to call someone to fix it. Took too long to have someone to come and make up our room (sent a request at 9am, the person didn’t come until 10:30am). Overall bad experience. Very old hotel :(

Wifi is so slow and can’t browse often. Lots of broken furniture. Old furniture. Breakfast os so bad, too many local choices, its not international style.
The breakfast is too muslim focused so no pork, i think its not good, as an international hotel. The breakfast variety is also very poor. I struggled to find food to eat. Overall bad dining experience!

One of the porters, Sa'eid, was very friendly and especially helpful in getting our family transport across town. After two Grab drivers declined to take our family of five and our luggage, he shuttled us to our destination instead. He had helped us the evening before as well, and was a refreshingly positive presence after a long day of travel.

This property is in a good location. The pool area and garden is wonderfully large and never feels crowded. The staff in the pool area are attentive and friendly. The pool is large but quite merky. The view from our Deluxe Sea View room was lovely. The hotel itself is very old and in need of attention. It may have been a beauty from yesteryear. Extremely basic amenities. Even the toilet, when flushed watered the floor. We didn't include breakfast so I can't comment. Loads of eateries and restaurants around. The price was OK for our stay and compared to other properties in this area.

This hotel is older, and maintenance isn’t great.we got the family room and it had a few issues - damaged floorboard by one of the beds, leaky bathroom, and shower door could not close. Fortunately, after making a call and getting them to look at it, they moved us to a better room, which didn’t have the same issues, but it still had its problems. Lighting is poor, wifi is horrible, and the room is just older. Upkeep isn’t great. Some pros - Breakfast was good. Customer service from all staff has been great so far. Access to the beach is lovely, and the pool was nice. It’s moreso the rooms itself that wasn’t very great.

Location was excellent, hotel room looked old and dated, wasn't cleaned thoroughly on my arrival, their was crumbs on sofa, and toothpaste residues on tiles,mould was visible in wet areas, bed was extremely hard, view from balcony was beautiful, pool and outdoor garden area was gorgeous and well maintained ,hotel food from breakfast to dinner was very ordinary, needs more options, room service also needs more options on food menu, the menu should be changed at least once a week, I was there for 3 weeks and same food, their was plenty of restaurants outside hotel all walking distance, overall I enjoyed Penang and my stay at Bayview beach resort, it should be rated as 3 Stars

Because this was a getaway close to where we live we arranged for a early checkin and arrived at 1 pm
They said our room was not ready and they would phone when the room was ready and to sit by the swimming pool in the heat. I phoned reception at 2 pm to be told it still was not ready and then went to the reception at 2:45. The girl could not find that we had checked in and could not find any paperwork
She then rushed around and found us a room and gave us the key cards
When we arrived to our room, they were only then putting the requested mattress topper on our bed. We found the whole process very unprofessional and no responsibility taken for their lack of organisation
For the price that they charge for a basic room, you are better off paying the extra and staying down the road at the more up market hotels. The so-called swim up pool bar is closed and will not open again in the near future. And the garden bar that is supposed to be open until 7 pm closed at 6:40 and would not serve a drink because they shut the Cash registers down.

We booked 6 nights but decided to leave earlier. A receptionist advised no refund for not used nights, and even did not asked why we decided to leave this resort earlier.
The hotel need urgent maintenance work all appliances required to be cleaned properly e.g toalet was dirty and some other common appliances broken / not in use.
Breakfast - not much choice for Western visitors. There is z warning not to swim in the see as poison jelly fish. Not sure how this hotel resort achieved 4*??

Had a last minute booking for 2 nights. Room was spacious and balcony was sufficient. Aircon and fridge was cold, and shower had steady supply of hot water. Checking in and out was easy and quick.

The lobby looks slightly dated. Room looks more updated, but simple yet functional for my stay.

Wifi was available, but not the best of speeds. It intermittently dropped connection on a few occasions.

The property has its own beach access on the quieter side of Buta Ferringhi, and there are food options just opposite the hotel, or a 10-15 mins walk to the night market area. I would come back to stay again if it is for a short stay like the one i just had.

More like a 2.5 star hotel. Hotel is very dated. Bathroom only had a handheld shower and the towels were threadbare. Rooms are big.
I had a late flight so at checkout I asked if a courtesy room was available. Reception told me the changing rooms near the tennis courts had a shower. This is untrue as the shower has been capped off which resulted in not being able to freshen up.
Garden area was spacious and well kept. Nice pool although the swim up bar was closed and looked derelict.
Hotel is walkable to restaurants.

This hotel is under poor property management as I could see stains, moulds and dust inside the room especially the mould around the edge of fridge is totally unacceptable. I saw staff mopping the carpet in the hallway instead of using vacuum cleaner or machine. There are stale odours when I enter the room which is disgusting.

An older looking hotel that needs updating but comfortable and convenient enough.

The room was VERY basic, not even any lampshades, which at first was strange but eventually accepted it as minimalist and comfortable. Bed was comfy, with a sofa and desk, and a lovely balcony. I love that there was a bathtub but couldn’t quite get enough hot water in it and the shower flow was stronger than the tap flow.

The lifts at the hotel were impressive but the hotel carpets and furniture is dated. The gym has good equipment but no air con and the floor is very old and dirty. Swimming pool was clean and lovely, as was the garden, very relaxing and enjoyable. There were also fun facilities such as tennis and table tennis.

Breakfast was fine, average. Some of the staff at breakfast were quite rude, I was told it would take 45minutes to heat the water to make poached eggs and some other staff started yelling at me to choose other types of eggs! Strange.

Massage staff at the garden were friendly and very good! Look for Selina or Mr Sun.

The area downstairs doesn’t have a lot of restaurants but there are some that are reasonably priced and delicious. If you’re willing to walk 10-15mins, you will find more food choices and other hotels/hotel bars.

Each day the pool had dozens of screaming and splashing children in the adult pool even though the property has 2 kiddie pools. We were on the top floor (10th) and we could hear them clearly for hours on end.

The restaurant had terrible and expensive food.

The park like grounds were very nice and you could be in a lounge chair away from the pool. There were a lot of watersports and horse back riding and a beach bar and restaurant a short distance away which was good.

Hotel is looking old and tired. Inattention to detail. No resolution of issues. No 'in house' entertainment and the only English speaking programmes on TV are sport & news. So no English speaking entertainment at all.
However the garden & pool area is lovely.
My Expedia paperwork told me there was a fee to be paid at the property of $13:50 AUD. However I was charged RM180 (Approx $60 AUD) This needs to be sorted out between the Hotel & Expedia.

This hotel has a great location of being close to beach. Their facilities are quite kids friendly with an indoor kid playground and two kids swimming pools. But the hotel's condition is very old and we can see broken pieces everywhere. The breakfast is very basic with some choices.

However, the hotel service needs some serious improvement. Just a few examples:
1. when we checked in, we found a cigarettes left in the closet and the previous guest's soap still left in the bathroom.

2. In the 2nd night of our stay, there was a large team building activity within the hotel. Around 11:20pm, a large number of people gathered in the lobby and made huge noises by shouting loudly. Due to the unique architectural layout, the noises go everywhere. No hotel staff tried to ask them to stay quiet.

3. The elevator floor were constantly wet as many guests did not dry their bodies after swimming. But no hotel staff helps to clean the floor.

4. Although the hotel sign requires guests to dress swimming suits to use swimming pools, no one really cares. People just jump into the pool with all kinds of dresses.

5. The breakfast runs from 6:30am to 10:30am. But some staffs disappeared since 9:15am. We like to get hot roti but the staff who made it stopped showing up.

6. The hotel does not provide hand towel (not sure why). We have to call housekeeping everyday to get some.

This is our go to property in Penang

This is our go to property in Penang and we have stayed here on multiple occasions. The family suite is very spacious with great views over the pool and the beach. The breakfast buffet in La Verandah is great and sets you up for the day. The hotel facilities are good and the service is above expectations. The only complaint is that the swim up bar has been closed for the foreseeable future. All up a great place to stay especially if you hire a car and need somewhere to park.

The room I had was HUGE. The king-size bed seemed way too small. The ceiling was at least ten or fifteen high.

The hotel itself gave the feeling of staying in a place whose glory days had long since passed. Yes, the room was nice, clean, and comfortable. But maybe because it was Ramadan....the hotel seemed mostly vacant. The lights in the main check-in area, with it's huge domed ceiling, remained off during the day, which gave the place a gloomy look.

The downstairs buffet breakfast was just okay. I would visit primarily for the coffee and orange juice.
