We loved the location of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was well equipped with one exception. Like many hotels now, one think comforter is offered for warmth at night time. There is no other option other than to sleep without nighttime cover. I thought about covering with a towel. I do wish hotels would provide choices.

The room was clean and tidy and there was plenty of room. The shower was very good and the ensuite shower room small but good. Downsides were noise from the road traffic late at night at the weekend, narrow uncomfortable single beds, soap ran out in the bathroom and was not replaced, TV did not work (said no-one registered in the room).

I appreciated the idea of the market place on floor 2, but would prefer a staffed bar with full range of drinks, not just beer, wine or gin and tonic. More choice is required if this is the way forward.

Room was average despite being a “deluxe”. Staff were lovely. Room key stopped working after a day, presumably it wasn’t validated for my 2 day stay. Stairs were a nightmare, if I’m staying on the first few floors I’d always rather use stairs than wait for a lift. Here the stairs were unfinished and lacked any real signage meaning it was difficult to find reception, poor from the hotel. Location is only ok, good for train station, not great for main dining and drinking areas.

A really nice hotel. I had a top floor room with an amazing view, but even without that, the staff are lovely, everyone is friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and it's in an ideal location for exploring central Rotterdam. No real downsides - there's no restaurant (though there is a pay-as-you-go breakfast bar) and it can occasionally be noisy outside as it's in the city centre. But it's a great place and I'd happily come back to stay here again.

Had a great stay at this hotel. We arrived very early and the staff provided a secure location to store our luggage while we explored Rotterdam. They were able to check us in earlier than their normal time. All of their staff were very helpful and offered great advice for restaurants and activities.

Check in was super easy thanks to Amy. She was so amiable and welcoming that it was quite nice to be greeted with that after driving for such a long time. The room was spacious and they gave us a free upgrade which was very much appreciated. The bed was super comfortable. My partner and I both agreed that it felt like we never left home because it was as comfortable as the bed we have back home. The shower had really good water pressure too. We parked at the hotel. It was convenient and front reception have been really kind to help us get our car in and out of the hotel. Overall. We loved our stay at The James Hotel. We totally recommend it to our friends.

Sadly, there was difficulty with the Wi-Fi and the television that never worked for me and the telephone didn’t work until one of the front desk receptionist came up to sort that out. And when I went to use the microwave in the morning, I did not realize it was taken away, and the lady in the breakfast area was rather Kurt with me. But overall, I wanna say the front desk reception staff were phenomenal. Cheeers

Really like our junior suite room with big bath tubs, the tv doesn't work when I check in , it take them a couple times to have it fixed . The wifi is bad , it work well if you could able to get a connection. No greeting from front desk at all , we stay for 6 nights and may be got greeted for 2 times total? Don't know if it is a Dutch thing

A fabulous hotel in a great location
We stayed at The James for 5 nights and it was fantastic. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, we stayed in a family room which was very spacious. The little market area for drinks, snacks and breakfast was very convenient.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and the whole family really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely return!

Great location for exploring Rotterdam, close to major department store and food outlets - walkable to most central Rotterdam sights. Front-desk staff were helpful, and check-in was smooth. Room was clean and comfortable. Our car was too big for their car elevator into the on-site car park, but - when I enquired about parking ahead of our stay - the hotel advised us to park in Q-Park directly opposite the hotel. Very convenient.

Nice 24 hour convenience Foodhall store on 2nd Fl for food items and sundries (no cash payment, credit card machine only), spacious lounge area attached to it. Has wifi, mini fridge and Aircon with cooling/heating. Bathroom reasonably well configured and equipped.
Cons: minor. Tiny espresso cups in room, not good enough for tea - can wing some paper cups from 2nd floor Foodhall as workaround. No iron and ironing board in room,but hotel can lend on request. Spare plug near writing desk would be of help. As would usb ports there and at beside tables.
