Far from luxury.

Upon arrival and check in it was awkward as it appeared we were unexpected and we had to do the majority of the work at check in. The porter was awkward with the bags and struggled so I had to take them off him. He then hung awkwardly around for an undeserved tip. The gym was a treadmill and cross trainer that didn't work. The jacuzzi was empty during the whole stay. The pool looked more like a pond on arrival. Green in color and not very clear. The ladies who worked were very helpful and courteous unlike the men who were a little creepy, constantly on your shoulder in an apparent attempt for constant tips when no service was offered. We stayed for a week and were put in a substandard room with only a shower head in a bath (with no taps or plug) as means of washing (not luxury as the name states) whereas other guests (non English) who stayed for only 1 or 2 nights appeared to get favouritism with room views and facilities. It was more apparent when more English guests arrived and placed in similar rooms to us. A sense of discrimination (borderlining casual rasicm) coming to the fore. The location of the hotel I would give 5 out of 5 for but everything else does not score well except for the service from the female staff only. The hotel states luxury but that is so far from the truth. On entry it does look luxurious but the only luxury after entry are the prices.

Firstly, the staff was amazing! The front desk attendant was very helpful every night and helped me get my bag from the airport and even offered drive me in her personal car. The bartender was also very nice. He always smiled and said hi. I didn't like the lack of cleanliness. The shower was too small to even bend down in and the handle broke when I used it. The shower head was rusted and the water wouldn't go to warm even after I changed the extra handles on the wall. The breakfast was okay but there were a few flies near it which wasn't appetizing. The staff was what made the stay special. They were very kind, helpful with activity advice, and great to talk to.

This hotel has nothing luxurious. I was put in a room that was not the one I picked, but in any case, the room did not show any luxury. Every thing was not functional, not electrical outlet in the bathroom, shower not working properly, poor lighting, you could hardly see anything in the bathroom. The paper holder by the toilet was broken. The curtains in the bedroom are poorly put, a child could have done a better job putting curtain rings, really bad. I did not notice any designer work as it is advertise. Cheap material was used to “decorate”. The room was the price of a nice Hilton hotel and it had the standard of a motel room, seriously. Breakfast is not quality, coffe is instant coffee. I would not recommend.

There were lots of spiders and bugs in the room. The water stopped in the middles of my showering. The Owner didn’t care and was not professional. The owner’s wife warned us to keep the balcony door closed as someone may step into your balcony. So that was scary. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone

The staff were so incredibly nice, and tried to do everything to make it right, but wow. My first room for $250+ euro a night was worse than a youth hostel--dark and so dirty, blood stains all over the sheets, hair that wasn't mine all over the floor, I was HORRIFIED. When I showed then photos of what was going on, they offered to move me into one of the renovated rooms, which was much nicer and actually looked like the photos of the hotel online [and was also apparently $450 euro a night]. Even still, this hotel was a MAX 2-2.5 star hotel. I have absolutely NO idea how its getting away with saying its 4-stars. Also note--there is no beach access, and no restaurant [just complimentary breakfast]. The area of Ornos is nice, but kind of in-between everywhere you want to be--I would have rather stayed in Mykonos Town or Psarou Beach.

Dionysos Hotel.

This is a good place to stay if you want to be a 2 minute walk to Ornos beach and a 5 minute walk to Korfos beach (where they kiteboard). The staff were very helpful, including Ian and Thanos.
The one thing I wish my room had, was a stand up shower (you had to bend over and use the hand held shower head).
Besides that everything was as I expected from the Hotel.com website.

The only \"luxury\" might be the entry and the main pool. Rooms are tired and we had one overlooking the pool too! Bathroom is awful. Shower so small you couldn't use. No coffee or tea makings in room. And for the price breakfast wasn't even included. The busy dusty street outside was awful and apparently they classify that as their private road to beach...ha ha. Ornos beach might be nice but the area around it is one bus in and one bus out....as long as you don't get run over.

Less than a minute walking distance to Ornos beach and the many restaurants! They have a transfer car onsite that can take you to town or the airport for 15 euro per trip (if driver available). If not, they will gladly call you a taxi (but the island itself has only a few taxis so be prepared to wait a bit especially if you go during busy season). The free breakfast in the AM is simple yet filling and just what you need if you want a light breakfast.

NY'er in Mykonos...

Fantastic experience... Ornos beach is my favorite bay area in Mykonos. This is the 3rd time I've stayed at Dionysos and they've made renovations each time I've come back that make it nicer. But most important is the service. The owner and staff are so sweet and really want you to have a great stay!

The stay here was amazing! Angela and Angela both host made us feel so comfortable, and continued to check in with us during our stay. The rooms were perfect and very clean breakfast was delicious with various options to choose. Thomas was a great help to our group and took time to converse with us! This stay was amazing and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Mykonos town area it’s near to some great dinning options.

Nice hotel, helpful staff, very close to the beach

Second time staying at Dionysos Hotel and it was even better than the first time in 2014. We were upgraded to a superior room overlooking the main pool, staff very again friendly and helpful and the location is perfect; 30 sec walk to the beach as well as the local shop and many stunning restaurants.
Would highly recommended staying in Ornos Village and at Dionysos over Mykonos Town. We will be back :)

Room had been updated with big bed. Cleaned everyday though sheets not changed over the week! Water for washing very salty. Noise from kitchen below and slamming doors throughout the night.
Breakfast was okay with Greek selection although hot food was not appetising! Swimming pool and area clean though need for attention to sun bed mats and more screening.
Ornos was small village with beach monopolized by Sun beds and footpath and walking areas taken over by restaurants. Continual flow of traffic in form of scooters and quad bikes sped along tight road to beach but bus service to Mykonos town was regular and on time!

Not a four star hotel, wouldn't give it two stars

Nothing like the pictures or description. We booked and paid extra for a \"Deluxe Sea View Room\". Would have changed hotels if we had not prepaid.

1. Basic room, nothing like in the pictures or description.
2. Noisy plumbing and walls like cardboard. Could hear other guests snoring, and partying at all times of the night.
3. Salty water, and no complimentary water to drink - had to go to the supermarket. No glasses in the room. Asked reception and were told to go to the bar. Given two plastic glasses which were not replaced or cleaned in the week we were there.
4. Stains on sheets which were not changed in a week.
5. Holes in grey towels (which were changed daily)
6. Phone call which woke us up at midnight from reception telling us to close our balcony doors as \"it is not allowed to leave doors open).
7. Kept awake till 3 am by noisy guests. No directory in the room for us to call reception to complain.
8. Charged Euro 20 for airport transfer and Euro 25 for return trip. When we asked for hotel to call us a cab, were told that \"no cabs available\"
9. Breakfast o.k., but not what I would expect from a four star hotel.
10. Walls like cardboard. Could hear man in room next door snoring.
11. Stained bath with hand shower and no plug.
12. Slippers in room???
13. Strong smell of sewerage one night. Had to open windows.

Have stayed in many hotels in Greece with great hospitality and helpful staff. This is a disgrace. Do not book.

DO NOT STAY HERE--- this is a MOTEL not a hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Not even close to a 4 star hotel.... more like 1 star if that.

The \"shower\" is actually a hose that does not even attach to the wall-- couldn't even use it, gross!! When we asked the hotel staff, supposedly manager of reservations, to get a room with a shower he said, \"Ha. They are all the same.\" and walked away. Absolutely rude and not accommodating.

A hanging nightlight that was literally right above our bed fell from the wall as we were about to go to sleep. When we went down to tell the manager he said \"common, you are on vacation, lighten up and relax.\" WHAT?! an electrical cord was above our head dangling as we slept....literally couldn't believe it.

The towels used for the shower had blood stains and holes. I refused to even use them to dry off my body.

Pools are disgusting, place is disgusting.

Do not stay here.

Just returned from a stay here. Fantastic staff who made us feel very welcome and accommodated everything we asked for. The rooms looked newly refurbished, clean and the facilities at the hotel were great! Location was spot on being only 3 mins walk to Ornos beach and all the restaurants and also 10 mins away from Mykonos town. Only thing that could be improved is the wifi covereage as you have to sit near the hotel lobby to get a signal. Will definitely be staying on my return to Mykonos.

I'm struggling to see how this is a 4*hotel. Both swimming pools were constantly dirty. The rooms were very basic, mould around the bath, dirty towels, dirt smeared on the bedroom walls. Curtains hanging off the rails. We ended up changing our room which turned out to be 100 times nicer. Staff were overall very nice and friendly apart from one who was not helpful.

This was my first time in Mykonos and thanks to the Dionysos staff it was amazing! Upon entering the hotel I was greeted with a cool drink and friendly smiles. When you go be sure to ask for Yannis, for all the best places to go or Vergiles to listen to some awesome music!!! I can't wait to return to this hotel for my next trip.

The room I was in didn't not have a functioning air conditioner. The breakfast offered was also too basic.

The staff was very friendly.

They price gouged us on the hotel shuttle from the port, into the town, and later to the airport.

I expected more for the high price we paid at this hotel.

Very pleasant stay at Dionysos

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Dionysos. It is located steps away from Ornos Beach and many fine restaurants. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful to give recommendations, call a taxi and to assist in any way. They offered fresh towels daily for the pool or to take to the beach. Our room was very nice and clean with a balcony facing the pool. Our room was recently refurbished and bathroom was new and clean. My only complaint is there was no shower curtain, soap dish holders in the shower or towel racks. I mentioned to the owner and she told me since it was just refurbished they forgot to put them in. A Greek style hot breakfast was included.
Paradise Beach is 15 minutes away and Mykonos town 10 minutes.
When visiting Mykonos keep in mind there are only 30 taxis on the whole island and they do not use meters, thus charging what they want. I recommend renting a moped or 4 wheeler to get around the island. We rented a moped for 12 Euros a day.
Overall a much enjoyable stay and would highly recommend Dionysos!

A really nice time at this hotel

I've never really provided such reviews but I found it extremely helpful in trying to book a hotel in Mykonos. This hotel was exactly like the pictures. The breakfast was just fine and what we needed in the morning to start our day. This hotel is in Ornos and it's a 2 min. walk to the beach and some restaurants. We stayed 3 days on the island and rented a scooter for 2 days which is a must if you want to visit all the areas of this 5 km square island. Our favorite beach was not the one in Ornos but rather Paraga...it's absolutely amazing, turquoise blue water, small pebbled sand, etc. The room at the hotel was perfect, clean, comfortable. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

This hotel is a family owned hotel that is 100 meters away off the beach. The bus stops near the this hotel and that is pretty important because there isnt a lot of taxis overe there. If you looking for a decent place just to sleep and recover from your night previous I highly recommend this hotel. At the arrival of our stay we were given free shots of thier country's liqour and the owners treated us like family. The breakfast that were given to us was freshly made and very delicious. The gym is pretty outdated but if you are going to party then trust me when I say you wont find time to workout. It definetly worth the amount you pay.

Definitely not 4*, at best this is a 3* hotel

The hotel did not live up to the expectations promised by the website and is definitely not 4*. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room we had was large enough with a good bed and a balcony that has the sun on it all day. The main pool area is ok but the smaller pool is too busy and too small. Both pools could do with more regular cleaning. We didn't eat in the hotel but had breakfast on a couple of occasions which offered plenty of choice with enough for everyone. The location is good, being close to the beach and some very good restaurants. There is a regular bus service to Mykonos town which is lively, but a bit busy due to large number of cruise ship visitors but is well worth visiting. The resort of Ornos is by far the nicest on the island, and has the nicest beach, with plenty of restaurants nearby, especially Kuzina which offers exceptional food and service.

Overall, if you are looking for 4* quality and luxury, don't be fooled by the website photos and description as this isn't the hotel for you, but if you want an ok 3* hotel in a nice quiet resort with plenty to do then I would recommend it, however it is priced as a 4* so you can find much better hotels in Ornos at cheaper prices.

Rating should be higher but...

Getting to the hotel was a pain because we got ignored by at least five taxis once we told them were we wanted to go.

Once we finally got a Taxi we were there in no time and it cost £20 to get there. The man at the front desk was really nice and was helpful at getting us aquatinted with the island. He suggested things to do and helped us locate transportation.

The hotel was about 2 blocks away from Ornos beach and was really easy to walk to. Ornos beach also had a water taxi which took us to some of the notable beaches in the area for £6 each.

The only bad part was that the electricity went out and we were left taking cold showers and we weren't able to charge out phones for our trip home. The front desk told me it would be fixed in 10 minutes and by the time we checked out it there was still no electricity.

We had asked for a transfer back to the port with hotel transportation for 12 but we didn't leave until 12:25 which left us sitting in the lobby for 25 minutes with nothing to do and having to rush to get to our ferry.

The hotel was clean and the location to Mykonos town wasn't bad at all.

Slow service and and no hot water

This is a cozy, small hotel situated just off the beaten path near Ornos Beach in Mykonos. The hotel is small, with not too many rooms which makes the experience a lot more personal. The biggest plus is definitely the large outdoors pool situated in the courtyard.
Rooms are nice and tidy with large beds and balconies.
The first night the running water in my shower ran out. That´s a BIG negative. The day after there was no hot water, not as bad since obviously it was very warm outside.

All in all this is an OK hotel if it wasn´t for the terrible reception service. If you ever wonder why Greece is in its worst financial crisis in ages, take a moment and study the staff at Dionysos reception. Slow, sloppy and unprofessional. We made it very clear that we needed a taxi 45 min prior to the time we needed it and they failed to get us a car with the excuse \"the line is busy\". This resulted in us being very late for an important business meeting. The same thing happend the morning after when we needed a taxi to go to the ferry which resulted in us almost missing the ferry.

If you can live with unorganized service and temporary water outages...this is not a too bad of a hotel.

I don´t think I will be back though.

OK Hotel

Recently went to Mykonos for a short break however realised we were travelling through the peak break. This made hotels overpriced and this was one of them. The Hotel was clean and well maintained and staff were pleasant however the cost was high for what you got. Rooms were clean and of a good size, internet was only in public areas unless hanging out on your balcony. Breakfast was average so thank god for bringing the Vegemite!

Wifi never worked in room, noisy party guests, salty water for showers & teeth brushing (not like this everywhere else on the island mind you), breakfast weird vibe, fruit not fresh, reception couldn't get us cabs or bikes to hire when needed and room service closed at 8pm. Great location

Perfect location, only a few hundred metres from one of the nicest beaches in Mykonos with some great restaurants. Room was clean and had a fridge, safe, air con and plasma TV. Bathroom was small and slightly outdated but nothing to complain about. Cleaner came in every morning.

Nice view looking over the pool.

Breakfast was basic but there was something for everyone.

Gym was a bit outdated but we managed to get a workout every morning and who's really bothered when you're on holiday?!

Bus stop to Mykonos town is only a few hundred yards away and runs every half hour. There are also boats that leave regularly in the morning to all the other beaches on the island.

Plenty of places nearby to rent quad bikes or scooters that are all reasonably priced and are a fantastic way to explore the island.

Would stay here again- not because of the hotel facilities but because it is a perfect location that offers a comfortable nights sleep!

Disappointing communication

Phoned & mailed hotel months in advance to be sure of single beds as was sharing with a friend. No response to my requirements was received by mail. Assured on phone they had twin bed rooms. On arrival given very shabby twin bed room with terrible bathroom & no view (room billed as 'superior' & with superior views) - air con making load noise. Told hotel was fully booked and this was all that was available.I said yes, I'm one of the ones who is booked! Pointed out their glossy marketing photos and made the point that our room was NOT superior. We were moved the next morning to another twin bed room that WAS superior although it did not have a view of the pool but of a dusty car park & children's play area.

VERY MISLEADING WEBSITE

This hotel is not on the beach. It has 2 pools but only one was filled with water and the other was green towards the end of the holiday and not suitable for use. There was not an operational shower so people did not was before using the pool. The superior room with garden view was infact a view of the carpark. The bathroom had a bath but no plug and when we asked for a plug were told they did not have one!!!!! There were not taps on the bath and the shower had to be held as there was not an attachment high up! The last three nights of our stay there was no hot water and one night very little water at all. Everyone we spoke to who was staying at the hotel had a complaint about the water and most people had changed rooms only to find that the next one also had a problem. The website does not offer a true picture of the hotel at all. Pool bar? Massage? Didn't exist and was told they could get someone to come in?
The breakfast was very meagre and as we were staying at the end of the season the breakfast provisions like jam and cererals were being run down, plus 2 oranges as the only fruit one day, despite us being the first ones down for breakfast. Would definitely not recommend this hotel in a million years.

Perfect location, 50m to the beach.

Its out of the city but doesnt really matter, the hotel is very nice and the staff is nice too. Ornos beach was very nice, like all islands if you need to get around you need to rent a 4-wheeler or a scooter to go to other nice beaches. Ornos offers also small ferries to the popular beaches.

Dionysos is a quiet, family-owned and family run hotel near Ornos beach in Mykonos. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast is basic and not as varied as you might expect from larger hotels, but it is ok. Because of the heat you will probably not feel like eating much anyway.

Not exactly what was advertised

The structure itself is good. However there are a few details: There are no sea views like advertised by Expedia. In fact, the balcony I was supposed to have was filthy! There were plants hanging over the balcony with some sort of plant disease and thousands of insects crawling over the branches. The guy who seems to be the manager is extremely nice, however the rest of the staff was quite rude...or fake when trying to be pleasant. No \"good mornings\" when coming across you. It's very close to Ornos beach, which is more of a family&quiet beach. No exactly a gay area. Now, the most disappointing thing: breakfast! It has exactly the same tasteless food every single day. To the point that I just gave up and decided to eat breakfast somewhere else. Also, there's no restaurant in the hotel. You either have to order food somewhere else or go out to eat.

Great relaxing break, away from rowdy drunks!

The hotel is in a great location as it's so close to the beach, restaurants, water taxis and bus etc. It doesn't take long to get to the town centre by bus.
It was lovely lounging by the pool, where we were often the only ones using it.
The room was comfortable with all that we required, safe, air-con, decent bed and wifi, which was handy as there were no English TV channels.
I will be recommending it to my friends.

Ok it's not the ideal hotel.. Same hospital style breakfasts everyday, listless dark rooms and absent minded staff, but it's still a minute walk from the fabulous Ornos beach!! The hotel style is typical for Mykonos and the price is fine. You won't be disappointed but would don't expect super luxury

Nice hotel, a little work needed re maintenance.

We did enjoy our stay at the hotel even though we booked in at the end of this season, when it was almost empty.
The owner was very chatty and pleasant. The only disappointing thing was even after reporting the sink plug would not work, so no water could not be kept in the basin, it was still not repaired after 14 days !!
Maybe a little more vatiety for breakfast, but what was available was very good.
However overall a very enjoyable stay and would return to the hotel.

filthy room and no service

My room was dirty from furniture surfaces to floors and bed....bathroom as well, phone was filthy. I was told by front desk to lock my terrace door? why burglaries? I had to breathe not cleaned air filtered air conditioning. I could not open terrace door for light in the morning, and difficult for the assistant of the hotel. No internet service. Do not chose this hotel. They charge triple high rate and neighboring hotels on beach are excellent compared to this one!

The hotel is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, but the interior of the room doesn't prove that at all, unfortunately... No carpet, no mini bar, a very old television (small screen too), the room basically looked like a big bathroom with a small then average bed,,, the location and the private parking are the only thing that puts this hotel in somewhat good light

Good hotel for the price

The hotel is rather clean and well located, staff is pretty friendly and the inclusive breakfast is nice.
The showers dont have curtains so the restroom becomes a mess and there seems to be a little bit of a salty taste to the water when you are showering. Overall its a good hotel if you arent looking for all the fancy ammenities of a resort.

Great hotel

We called in advance to say that we were in ur honeymoon and to ask for a better room and they gave us a free upgrade. Very lovely hotel, 50 meters from Ornos beach. Do not stay in the center, it really is a mess, unless tht s what you re aiming for. Also do not go in July or August, too many people. For a couple, June is a good month. A negative about the hotel: the shower had a only a jet of water coming out of it and the water tasted strange. But for me was ok, my husband did not like it very much. Very nice staff,I would tottaly stay there again!

Great Choice at Ornos Beach

I was nervous about booking the Dionysos Hotel, due to reading mixed reviews on trip advisor. I needn't have been worried though, it was a great hotel, offering us everything we wanted, good location, modern hotel (not too big, not too small in size), very clean, great breakfast selection and friendly staff, more than willing to help us with any questions or needs.

I would recommend this hotel to all and anyone. We had a fantastic holiday and Dionysos certainly helped to make it so.

This is a nice, pleasant hotel. The girl at the lobby was quite friendly when we walked in, and the hotel itself is in good condition. The bathroom was really clean and the room was clean too, with a really nice terrace. The buildings are really cute, whitewashed with dashes of colors and bright wildflowers around. The pool was nice but we didn't use it, since the beach was literally a 1 minute walk from the hotel. The beach, Ornos, is really nice and calm though the water is cold, even when it's hot out. Mykonos town is not so close to walk to, but we didn't have any problems since a taxi there would cost us around 5 euro. There is a bus stop at the beach but we waited for two hours and it never came, so don't rely too much on it. There are super nice restaurants on the beach though, so at night you can definitely visit one of them. I definitely recommend Kuzina, and maybe reserve beforehand so you can get a table on the sand and really close to the water. The atmosphere there was great, super sophisticated. Also Ithaki is really interesting since it serves mexican, thai, italian and other cuisine! Breakfast was included and it was a standard, continental breakfast...the breakfast lady was really nice! We had a good stay at this hotel. I agree with one of the reviews below that the tap water was salty, but surely it's salty everywhere on the island and it's really not a problem at all. This hotel is a good place to stay in Mykonos, and it's not as expensive as other hotels!

Hotel was great and in a very good area, only 5 min drive from downtown a one minute walk to the beach which was very convenient. The nearby shops and restaurants were very handy. Hotel staff were far beyond excellent as they met all our needs and were happy to answer all our questions.

Great value near Ornos Beach

Turned up at 2am due to earlier ferry, smooth check-in. Upgraded to premium renovated room with balcony out to the pool. Large room, clean facilities, helpful and professional owners/staff. Very close to the beach. Nothing new on the breakfast menu but decent quality. Stayed at some highly rated hotels on Mykonos, this compares very favourably with them at a fraction of the price and a room double the size.

Dionysos Hotel, Mykonos-Great location & service!

I traveled to Mykonos for a special vacation with my sister. Our goal was to relax and enjoy the Greek beaches, people, and food. The Dionysos was perfect for this!

Situated in a quieter part of Mykonos, this is the perfect place to go to relax on the beaches and enjoy some of the great Greek restaurants on the island. Ornos Beach was a 1-minute walk from the hotel, along with several excellent restaurants right on the beach. With beach chairs and service, it made for perfectly relaxing days in the sun. There are also boats from this beach that will take you to beaches all over the island for a small fee. Also, Ornos is located 2 kilometers from the main port on Mykonos, an easy walk to the shopping and restaurants there.

In addition to the great location, we fell in love with the hotel manager, Nikos. We had questions for him every day that he was always happy to answer, he was very friendly, and very helpful. His staff was always responsive and friendly. Nikos set up an excursion for us to the island of Delos where we had an excellent tour guide to lead us through the ancient city.

The amenities at the hotel were also great--they have a nice workout room at the back of the hotel, their pool is wonderful, and the wireless internet was included in our room fee. A delicious breakfast was served poolside every morning with eggs, sausage, bruschetta, breads, pastries, yogurt, honey, olives, coffees, etc.

If I return to Mykonos, I'm definitely staying at the Dionysos. We had a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer!!

Good Rooms, Good Location, Great Value

Good location if you want to get away from MyKonos town. Its 100m from Ornos Beach though and that is very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and things to do. Room was old but clean, well maintained and comfortable (bed was too firm for our liking though). Back rooms butt right up against an apartment complex, which feels pretty strange. Although we did not use the pool and patio area they looked very comfortable and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was great.

Great location and price

The hotel is traditional and very quaint. The staff is very friendly and helpful which made the whole experience that much better. Bathrooms are a bit small and the rooms aren't anything fancy, but that's the traditional way. All rooms had a balcony/terrace, a small tv, hair dryer and hot water. The entire hotel was very clean had a small pool and is a 10 minute walk to center of Thira. Breakfast consisted of hardboiled eggs, coffee, OJ, bread, jams, butter, pound cake, ham and cheese. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. If you're looking for a budget hotel and don't expect anything fancy, I would suggest this hotel.
