It was really nice, the property, its staff, breakfast etc all really nice. The kitchen closes -- and not 24hrs, so that was sometimes difficult, not getting food later in the day.

Definitely recommend

I have stayed here 4 times in the last 3 years and every time has been great. It is very clean, the staff is very attentive, despite the language difference and the breakfast buffet is excellent. A wonderful value for the money, for sure.

Cannot recommend

Although we arrived very late, the staff was pleasant! However, they told us nothing about where the buffet was located and we missed it. The tap water I used just to brush my teeth made me terribly sick with stomach cramping, dry heaves, sweating and diarrhea. Our room was not clean. The bathroom walls were dirty with some substance, the tea cup had unknown brown liquid in it. There was water in the tea kettle. I would not recommend this hotel or stay there again.

Knock Your Expectations Half a Notch

Whatever expectations you have, take then down about half a notch. The hotel is good, but left me wanting. The rooms look somewhat tired and the decor is outdated. The hallways are dark and sad. Also, I had a couple of negative run-ins with service staff that left a sour taste in my mouth. Plus, the hotel is really far away from anything interesting. Adequate seems to be the only word that comes to mind. WiFi was strong; no cable channels (they said they canceled their subscription but didn't update their information); coffee apparently is NOT included in a deluxe room; breakfast was ordinary and most items were cold; good looking pools but they open at 3pm. Just nothing too glamorous for all the boasting.

Good hotel, far from everything.

Customer service is great. Too far from everything, about one hour to the canton fair. rooms are clean, however, because of the strong humidity in the hotel do to the humid weather, I recommend you book an executive room to have access to the executive lounge, It has Windows that you can open to vent the room it helps with the strong humidity smell.

Good hotel bad location

I wish this hotel was different location. It takes one hour for shuttle to go to station or exhibition center. Taxi guys will rip you at night to go to this hotel with 4X price. Virtually nothing else exists within walking distance of this hotel.

Communication problems duplicated payment trouble

It is a lovely hotel but presents a lot of communication problems and frustrations as their staff does not understand english!! The menus is boring and there is not enough options on the menu for Western people. The limited choices offered on the menu are seldom available!! It is very difficult to ask for something because they cannot understand ENGLISH. When I checked out on the 4th of May 2014 I was forced to make a payment for accommodation. I showed them the proof that the accommodation was paid on the 22nd of January. They could not understand me OR the written proof of payment. I spoke to the sales lady and she promised me that they would refund me if it was a duplication. They accepted on the 6th of May that they made and error, apologised and promised me a refund. Today is the 6th of June, one month later and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND !!! All this is and the other frustrations in the restaurant, i.e. asking for a \"tops sheet\" for my bed and the duplicate payment at the reception is because they CANNOT COMMUNICATE OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH!!!! I do not know where to turn to anymore as they owe me a refund and it is still OUTSTANDING. WARNING ....DO NOT MAKE A DUPLICATE PAYMENT AT RECEPTION AT ALL.

CIGARETTE SMELL IN CORRIDORS.

The Hotel is well positioned, the staff are very friendly but Cigarette smell in Corridors is a serious problem. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR VENTILATION IN CORRIDORS AND DON'T ALLOW PEOPLE TO SMOKE EVERYWHERE. Also encourage the staff to understand English. I will be coming back in three months, let me see the improvement.

Clean & comfortable room

The room and hotel was spacious and very clean and tidy. Breakfast buffet was great. The hotel's gardens and lake were great. Would stay again. The only thing would be the hotel's location, it is difficult to get to other places without a car/taxi.

Hotel is beautiful. Huge building. I was told by a few of the employees that since the area has so many new hotels - it's not as busy as it used to be - that's why I think the service has declined.

Four stars service for a five stars hotel

Behind the splendor of the design there is little to shout about. The age is catching up with the building, the corridors leading to the rooms are stuffy and dimly lit. The food in the Chinese restaurant is awful. imagine We couldn't order rice in a Chinese restaurant.

The plus side is the resort style with plenty of greenery and fresh air.
Staff attitude is average and insistent. I pointed out to a staff in the breakfast restaurant that the floor was wet and posed a risk to patrons but no ones took any action for the entire time I was dining there.

Great option with lots to do

It's a great hotel. Big rooms, comfortable, with lots of things to do - two swimming pools, Karaoke, snooker, table tennis, bar, restaurants on site, and close to night life in the town.

Great location...poor upkeep.

Lobby and courtyard are beautiful. Sits at the base of a side hill that is stuffed with mansions. Quiet picturesque setting. My review is the same as the others before. Management or $$$ for upkeep are lacking. Mold in the bathroom, soiled carpets, worn bedding etc. great dinner buffet, but the linen table cloth that hadn't been laundered for a few meals spoiled it for me. Room service was similar to many Chinese hotels. English is a bit lean making it a trip to the local casino every time you order. My two cents...if you have a western menu, make sure the staff can understand what is on it. Overall, pretty good value for a Chinese hotel, but it needs a little elbow grease to return it to it's original luster.

Rather disappointing , my whole experience of this great 5 star resort hotel.
It is very far from airport and town, aprox. 1h travel. Check in takes long as staff's English is inadequate. The hotel is big and you have to find out where everything is by yourself.
Breakfast is more suited to Asians although it's supposedly international.
I found it boring.

Phoenix City Hotel----It is a pleasure staying

I was with family to have a leisure and confined to my family only. We had great time.

The surroundings are very greenery a kind feeling that of living in a forest. Hotel provided good multi cuisine breakfast , Lunch & Dinner.

The overall feeling is very good. In fact my family like to visit once again.

If Somebody want to take a break from day to day stressful life, it will be a good choice to stay at Phoenix city hotel at Guangzhou.

OK but could use improvement

Everything about the hotel itself was fine, however the concierge staff are terrible in their lack of knowledge. They didn't know there was a China Mobile store right in their own little community and, they sent me all the way to a ferry station in Shenzhen that doesn't even have ferries to Hong Kong/Kowloon, rather only to the airport or Macau. I was temporarily stranded because of them.

Also the service staff need a lot of improvement with English it is often difficult to get something done or have them understand what you want/need.

Would not recommend this hotel.

The positive: The common areas are beautiful. The pool is amazing.

The negatives: We were in China adopting our son and unexpectedly needed important paperwork faxed after the business center had closed at the hotel. The staff at the front desk would not open the business center nor allow the documents needed for the adoption to be sent to the front desk. They simply did not care that these documents were vital.

No hot water in our room. Room is large but furnishings are older. Carpet was dirty.

Food is outrageously expensive. Unless you like extremely authentic Chineses food, you will find it difficult to eat. We opted for peanuts and pretzels instead. We moved hotels mostly so we could eat.

5 star with Chinese Characteristics

This hotel is lovely but it is not international 5 star standards. The buffet breakfast is one of the best I've had in China. There seemed to be no dress code in any of the restaurants/bars in the hotel. The pool was lovely and there were lots of sun loungers in semi secluded areas. The hotel once had a pool bar but it seemed permanently closed when we went. Our room was large and clean. Our balcony was big and had a lovely view of the mountains and lake filled with lotus and water lillies. Convenient for a mini countryside break out of the city.

The perfect choice for peaceful accommodation

The hotel environment is amazing, very peaceful, very quite, and the design of the halls is awesome.
It is about 30 to 40 mins away from city center by car. The staff is very gentle, helpful and welcoming.
The interior design of the halls and the different sections of the hotel is derived from Italian culture, conference rooms named after great artists, halls after cities.

The outer seating area and the greenery around the lake and the swimming pool are very serene.

One thing is that if not for the staff, you would never know that you are in china :)

The stores inside the hotel are high end, the convenience store is not cheap, it is considered expensive in comparison to regular shops and outlets.

In a nutshell, it is a serene, quite and relaxing place after the long exhibition days, it is very suitable for a relaxing trip.

The resort is certainly a 5 star

The resort is certainly a 5 star hotel, however the food for breakfast and 2 dinners which I consumed whilst staying there was below average.
I would certainly stay there again however I think I will eat elsewhere.

是一間以招待本地人為主，較陳舊而勉强達4星級別的酒店。酒店的清潔度良好，員工大致上也很幫忙及友善，除了，一位守護在早餐廳前，負責核對客人身份的男性員工，他貌似保安，腰藏對講機，對客人說話粗聲大氣，呼呼喝喝，極不禮貌。外地賓客如真的想體會本地人的生活，可以一試。

Das Hotel könnte in Teilen eine Renovierung vertragen. Wenig englisch sprechendes Personal aber das gesamte Personal war äußerst freundlich und liebenswürdig. Die Zimmer sind leider etwas hellhörig und die Verkehrsanbindung ist schwierig, zumindest wenn man kein chinesisch kann aber insgesamt hatten wir einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt.

日本語スタッフの対応が良い

平均して年齢的にも若いスタッフですが、一生懸命に対応してくれて、気分も良く英語も通じない国でいろいろ助かりました。裁縫道具や、アイロンを貸し出したり、生活面でいろいろ質問しましたが、全て丁寧に対応してくれました。こういうスタッフには、手当を割り増しにして、長く勤められる待遇にしてほしいです。

ホテル手配のタクシーにボラれた

シティホテルではなくリゾートホテルです。敷地が広く周辺の店、レストランへの移動が面倒くさい。ホテルのレストランは9時で終わっていたので、売店でカップヌードル購入。最悪なのはホテルに頼んだタクシーにボラれたこと。空港まで行って540元(普通は160元)、レシートの印字距離は150km違法改造メーターだったが言葉が通じず泣く泣く支払い。挙句に200元払わないとトランクを開けてくれずこれも支払った。せめて信用のあるタクシーを手配いただきたい。

ジャスコやサイゼリアが近くにある郊外のホテルです。

一番安い部屋を予約したのですが、最初に通された部屋は通常使われていないと思われる汚い部屋でした。
通常の価格を考えても不釣合いな汚い部屋でした。Hotel.comに連絡しホテルにも直接交渉してやっと替えて貰った部屋は非常に綺麗な部屋でした。結果として良い滞在でしたが、もし他の方が滞在する場合同じ様に対応して貰えるのかが心配です。

服务有待提高

订好了房交完了钱到酒店被告知找不到订单，让客人等了半个多小时，答复是预订系统有问题，没了。那我的客人的时间呢？道歉呢？推给系统问题然后就没了？电话沟通时候前台说可以让我们给多点押金先安排入住，但是挂电话我朋友说酒店没跟她们说这个解决方案，让他们继续等待，呵呵。

The area is humid, and close to it's own lake: room have that kind of \"mould\" smelling - it is better if the aircon / dehumid mode be left on continuously to clear that. The staff is exceedingly helpful and that more than compensate; the housing estate nearby has nice environment and also a lake, but is out of bounds. Hotel can negotiate for a temp pass to allow guest to walk to that lake (around 200 meters down to right side of entrance). Hotel should run its own shuttle from Country Home bus depot.

Ótimo hotel e serviço muito bom!

Hotel muito bom, serviço excelente, funcionários com muita boa vontade. Ruim a lozalização, os arredores tem muitos restaurantes e o bairro é nobre, porem a distancia do hotel para o centro por exemplo da CANTON FAIR é muito grande. Cuidado com os táxis da porta do hotel, pois eles cobram o triplo do valor, tem que negociar e não deixar o funcionário do hotel se meter.

Schönes Hotel, aber weit weg vom Zentrum

War zur Canton Fair in Guangzhou. Hotel war weit entfernt vom Stadtzentrum. Ca. 45 Minuten mit dem Taxi. Ansonsten ist es schön gelegen.
