Room not too bad. We were by the end of September and everything was closed, including the Hotel Restaurant. The only alternative was a buffet dinner in a nearby hotel. The only one open This place is not so good for a stopover. Try another place.

Wonderful views over mountains and fjord. Handy location next to Dragsvik ferry terminal. Staff friendly, casual atmosphere. Room basic and bed comfortable. Twinings tea bags, kettle and small bar fridge in room. But plastic cups to drink Twinings tea from? Terrible, so I got a china cup and saucer from downstairs. Dinner was nice but like everywhere in Norway so expensive for what is good home style cooking.
Good hot water in bathroom and amenities. The only things I noticed were: no toilet paper holder but were just put on the the multiple toilet roll storage holder. Design of bathroom a bit cramped as when you open the shower door it hits the edge of the wash basin so would have better designed although quite modern fittings. Overall very good though.

Fabulous setting and views. We were in a cabin a short walk from the main building. The bathroom had been refurbished and was really nice. The rest of the cabin badly needed to be done as well as it was very worn. Lighting was dreadful. Electric heating pretty effective though

Fabulous views over the fjord despite overcast weather. Comfortable although basic room. Very tight bathroom ! Great shower. Nice meal in the restaurant, prices high as you would expect. Ferry to and from was very easy and well managed with very accurate time schedules.

We got probably the worst room in the place so our experience was affected by that. The views most rooms and the dining room and outdoor areas are fabulous. It’s by the ferry landing but that wasn’t a problem. It wasn’t quite as nice overall as I had expected though given the price.

The front desk was very friendly, even carried my heavy luggage to the second floor. There was no elevator. The rooms were small but they provide plenty public space around the property to relax. The fjord view from the room was great. The breakfast was excellent.
The location was a bit out of the way. But it took only 10 minutes to drive to Balestrand where most restaurants were located.

This is a very quaint hotel run by a very nice staff who made a lot of efforts to give us a pleasant stay. The hotel is situated on a peninsula with panoramic views of beautiful mountains and fjords. We had two delicious dinners and three wonderful breakfasts at the hotel. It would help future travelers if their website made it more clear that, without a car rental, there is no easy way to come off the speedboat in Balestrand and get to the hotel with your luggage. It’s a 10 km trip around the little water inlet, so you can’t walk it with luggage and taking the local bus would be cumbersome with luggage. If you know this ahead of time, you can plan how you want to manage it.

Amazing location on a peninsula with panoramic views. I think the logistics involved with the place should be made more clear up front. We deduced that we needed a rental car to get from the boat to the hotel when we mapped out the place, but others seemed to have been more caught off guard.

I made the reservation as a stopover hotel on our route through Norway and we got a very pleasant surprise.

It is a family hotel, with a personalized treatment by the person who attended us. Breakfast was nice and it came with a view, all with natural products and very good quality.

Would have loved to stay here for a couple more nights.

The property is comfy and staff is very polite and nice. There's no elevator but the staff helped us with luggage. She even offered help to move down our luggage when we checked out. Very thoughtful and sweet. Breakfast is good and a nicely decorated restaurant.

Highly recommend for road trips

Such a wonderful place to stay! We booked a normal double room and found the room to be close to the parking lot with a lot of noise from the road. Upon asking, the staff helped us find another room, which actually was an upgrade to a comfort double. The room had a kitchenette and was spotlessly clean with amazing views of the fjord. The bed was very comfy. The breakfast was standard european style, and dinner was a little expensive (as is everything in Norway). The only downside of the hotel is the location. My wife and I were able to get to the hotel fine via the ferry from Hella, but buses to and from Balestrand were limited, so I would not recommend staying here if you don't have a car. The hotel does have a shuttle service to and from Balestrand for a price. Also, there are no grocery markets or restaurants nearby; all are in Balestrand. However, the area around is beautiful and quiet, and the staff are always willing to help out and give local recommendations.

Wonderful hotel in a stunning location.

Made to feel very welcome on arrival & throughout the stay. Location is incredible with views across the fjord in different directions. Food was excellent, made even better by the view of the glacier from the dining room. Room very comfortable. Definitely one to visit again.

The location, overlooking the fjord can't be beat. It was cloudy and rainy when we were there, but it was still beautiful. The family member (forgot his name) who checked us in was very amiable and he gave us a room larger than we even needed. The only caveat is that some of the vegetables at breakfast were out right old and rotten - something they should have realize and not have put out on the buffet. Apart from that, it was a cool stay.

be aware that the hotel is across the harbor from the people ferry but right next to the car ferry. Absolutely gorgeous setting!!!. beds were very soft and room decoration was almost non-existent. Hotel staff was wonderful

A fortunate choice.

I booked this place when I found that its more famous near-neighbor in Balestrand, the Kviknes, was full. I'm glad I did, because I found the Dragsvik Fjordhotel more intimate and quiet, and with excellent service. Magnar seems to do most everything at the front of the hotel and in the restaurant, and is very personable. We had dinner the first night at the hotel's restaurant and it was the best dinner we had in the Balestrand area. Keep in mind this hotel is 9 km east of Balestrand so you need to have a car to get to it, but it's also right next to the ferry stop where you can get to Hella and head to the sights to the east. We'd stay here again given the chance.

A review made it sound like it was 1.5 miles from town. That is probably true over open water. By road it was 8 miles to the town. We asked the inn keeper what time the express boat would leave Sunday morning. He said 7:50. We had a long wait at the dock since it wasn't scheduled to arrive on Sundays until 11:30!

Staying here is like stepping into a beautiful painting of mountains and reflective fyords. This is an amazing place!! Our waterfront room had a separate living room with wood flooring and comfortable furniture. It featured a big picture window and unobstructed beautiful fyord views. The kitchen was modern and fully equipped for cooking. However, cooking was unnecessary as the hotel serves stellar food. Our bedroom also had a huge picture window with a beautiful fyord view. The bathroom was good, but bathsoap was small. Linens were in good condition and the bed was comfortable. Parking on the hotel property was free. We had a wonderful dinner of smoked trout on a bed of crisp salad with tomatoes and a basket of bread. The manager was excellent! Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He handled everything from check-in to dinner service. He was exceptional. The restaurant has a series of huge picture windows with glorious fyord views. The hot and cold breakfast buffet was perfect. Truly a memorable stay.

Situation to die for.

A 3 day stay in Dragsvik was a most enjoyable conclusion to a wonderful week in Norway. family family owned and run the welcome was most friendly. Even offered to carry suitcases, rare these days. Hotel is on a small peninsula so each room has a great view of the fjord. It is only 300 metres from the ferry to Hella which was very convenient. A short drive to Balestron and plenty of different visits within an easy days drive. Restaurant service was a bit slow but we were in no rush. Fare was fine and a good breakfast included in the price. The owner even arranged for a relative farmer to visit and talk to us about farming outside the EU (we are all retired farmers). A good stay that I would repeat.

Wonderful location

Touring the fjords so there is not a vast selection of hotels in suitable locations on my tour. Geiranger hotels were booked so we found this and were very leasantly surprised. Leaving Gerainger you take the road here which has one of the most beautiful vistas overlooking the fjord making the road trip excellent. Then continue to the other side and take the ferry to Valldal and this hotel is nestled under the mountains. The food was much better than expected and overall the stay exceeded expectations. It is a nice hotel with friendly service. It is not a Sheraton or a Hilton, but pleaant enough and in a great location.

This is a quiet hotel on the edge of a beautiful lake . The restaurant overlooks the lake as did our bedroom. .it was stunning. The Oromo was nice although the bathroom extremely squashed. But what what made this hotel was the staff and ambience. You could sit in the lounge and relax with food and drink available all day . The restaurant is open every evening but serves a limited menu which got a bit boring after a few days so we just ate else where on some nights . The breakfast was lovely and a good quality . There are no shops nearby so it is quite remote but we loved that and would definitely go again . The car ferry is nearby which was handy.

The hotel doesn´t look too nice on the outside, but inside it is very nice. The staff is not very customer-satisfaction oriented. The rooms have an amazing view but rather extremely small bathrooms and showers. The restaurant is very very nice, and breakfast is well served. Mostly, the problem is that it is NOT in Balestrand so you are 8 kms away and need to take a bus that rides every 2 or 3 hours, and even less on weekends...

Spectacular view from a tired establishment

The room was well and truly overpriced even for Norway. It was small, old and uncomfortable. With 8 guests for breakfast, two slices of salmon and two eggs quartered were on the buffet. A wonderful fjord view with a chair at the water and no possible way of reaching it safely through the unkempt overgrown waterfront.. Extremely disappointing.

Staff however were very friendly helpful and did everything possible to make the stay enjoyable.

A gorgeous location right on the fjord. We had a family suite that couldn't have been nicer, roomy and fully-equipped. The hotel is right at the ferry stop. so it's easy to make connecting links. It is, however, an 8 kilometer drive into town, so if you want to eat anywhere other than the hotel, be prepared for a short drive on a very narrow road.

The service at this hotel was simply charming. We arrived quite late after the kitchen had officially closed but they went out of their way to find us some dinner which was fresh and delicious. We had a room on the second floor with a nice view of the harbor. There are quaint walking trails nearby and Dragsvik and Balestrand are picturesque fjord towns worth a visit.

Great, affordable hotel in Balestrand/Dragsvik

We just returned from Norway and mid-October is definitely the off-season there. Near as I could tell, the Fjordhotel was the only inn open in the Dragsvik region. And we may have been the only quest at the Fjordhotel and night we were there. Still, the woman that owns the hotel could not have been nicer, she made us a great breakfast and made us feel right at home. Plus the hotel location and grounds are very nice and good hiking is right our the front door. I recommend the Fjordhotel highly as a great place to stay at a very affordable price.

We stayed here in June 2012. It is a beautful spot just outside of Balestrand. Convenient public bus ride and bus stop out in front of the hotel. The restaurant view of the fjord is the best. The staff was delightful. Rooms were clean and offered the same outstanding views. Thank you!

Dragsvik Fjord Hotel, Norway - lovely stay

This little hotel is beautifuuly situated to access multiple outdoor activities. The view from the breakfast room over the Sognfjord is breathtaking.

The rooms are clean, linen spotless and very comfortable. No TV though but then again quite a nice change. The lounge areas have Tvs and enjoying a drink int he lounge or outside is relaxing.

They offer a hot dinner which looked lovely but we had chose to find something locally in Balestrand. Free WiFi (which must be the norm in Norway) makes it easy to plan your next day, write a blog or just email the family some pics bragging about your holiday.

far away from everything

This hotel is a converted farm - it is NOT 200 m from the express ferry dock in Balstrand - it is about 10 kil. away - there was another couple on our express boat from Bergen and there was no way to get to the hotel - The bus does go past the hotel but infrequently. Luckily, a waiter at the hotel's restaurant came over to pick us up. If you want seclusion and quiet, this is your place!

The hotel is very well located, about 300 feet from the ferry dock (Hella-Dragsvik ferry), and about 5 miles from Balestrand. It is easy to park the car in front of the hotel.
The hotel is simple, without any luxury, but the rooms were clean, and the internet service was excellent.
Rooms are spartan.
Breakfast was good.
Overall, it is ia reasonable hotel, especially considering that there are just 3 hotels in that area, and is not easy to find accomodations.

What a gem!

My friend and I were in need of a hotel on a journey from Bergen to Oslo. This hotel was in our price range but slightly off course. Not a problem. We were met at the ferry. A bus stopped just feet away from the front door for trips back to Balestrand. The breakfast was included and wonderful. Our room was the best of all. It was like our own home away from home. We made 2 excursions within walking distance to two delightful places. One was a woman who works in ceramic and the other was a tour of a doll makers creations. What memories.

Hôtel très bien placé, mais chambre vraiment vieillotte. Le système de douche est particulièrement désagréable. Il y a sûrement un problème également avec les hottes de la cuisine : En soirée, tous les couloirs ont un branchement olfactif direct avec les fourneaux.

Hôtel sur les rives du sognfjord

Nous avons dormis une nuit dans cet hôtel. Nous avons eu une petite vue sur le fjord de la chambre, le personnel était très aimable et la chambre propre. La douche un peu exigu avec un système de porte pliante mais pour une nuit cela fait l affaire. Le petit déjeuner était très bon et diversifié avec le restaurant vu sur le fjord.

そこまで大きなホテルではないので、他のお客さんも少なく、静かな滞在を楽しめました。

Et sentralt overnattingssted når en kommer med ferja fra Vangsnes. Hotellet ligger rett ved ferjeleiet. Kort vei med bil inn til Balestrand. Hyggelig og god bevertning og service. Rent og ordentlig.
