Very disappointing beach experience. The beach was completely covered with massive piles of seaweed, making it unusable, and the smell was unbearable. Most people travel to the Caribbean for the beach, so this was a huge letdown. The hotel should have notified guests in advance about these conditions so travelers could plan accordingly.

Brilliant and beautiful hotel. We were upgraded by the hotel to a sea view and the room was brilliant. We used the hot tub in the room a few times. The hotel had loads of activities and different restaurants that we checked out. Staff were amazing all around. Super helpful and accommodating.

If the beach is your thing, this isn't the place for you. It is very narrow and rocky and attracts a higher than average amount of seaweed which has a strong odor.

The cabanas, which must be rented by the day, take of the edge of 80% of the pool side space.

The food was great! Asiana & Rincon Mexican were our favs! The staff goes above & beyond! Reyes the bartender was our ALL TIME FAVORITE! Find him — you will not be sorry! The pools were a little chilly but great vibes around them & when the sun is shining they feel good! Yummy drinks! The beach was beautiful! The staff & service is phenomenal! The location of the resort is perfect — just steps away from 5th Ave & blocks away from the ferry to Cozumel! All good things!! Can’t wait to go back!!

Our room was spotless and cleaned daily, the service at the pool was excellent , the entertainment was great, restaurants had good choices and food was great. Very well kept resort in and out and very convenient walking distance to outside restaurants bars and shopping. Overall is highly recommend.

The entire resort was wonderful! We enjoyed everything from our ocean view suite, the beautiful pools and the all inclusive options. The Hyatt Vivid staff were excellent and they kept the resort spotless! Every evening they had Las Vegas style entertainment. We didn’t have one bad meal and not a single negative experience. We loved it and will likely go back again!

Desde el primer momento, el servicio marcó la diferencia. Todo el personal, desde housekeeping, bellboys, recepción, hasta el equipo de restaurantes y bares, fue excepcional. La atención constante y cálida hizo que nuestra experiencia como hermanas fuera algo que recordaremos siempre.

Elegí el hotel principalmente por su ubicación frente al mar, más que por el concepto todo incluido. Sin embargo, fue una grata sorpresa: la calidad de los alimentos, la variedad de opciones y las bebidas estuvieron a la altura, sin dejarnos deseando nada más.

Las instalaciones son hermosas, la piscina es espectacular y el ambiente se siente cuidado y agradable. Aunque algunas habitaciones ya muestran que podrían beneficiarse de una renovación estética, todo estaba impecablemente limpio, lo cual para mí es fundamental.

Nos sentimos seguras en todo momento, y eso suma muchísimo.

En resumen, lo recomiendo tanto por la hospitalidad como por la ubicación privilegiada. Y al final, ¿qué más puede uno pedir que estar frente al mar Caribe con las personas que más quiere?

The room we stayed in wasn’t exactly new but it was kept very clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning unit was loud but we got used to it as white noise. We got a swim up suite for a bit extra and that was lovely. The staff were very friendly and professional. We quite liked Aranza of the Entertainment team, who took a kind interest in our family and helped us with bocce, taught us basic salsa and refereed water volleyball. We appreciated her lovely smile and enthusiastic, youthful energy!

The room was immaculately cleaned daily, the amenities were fantastic, the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. The food could have been better. Drinks were fantastic. Participated in the upgraded valentines dinner - the food wasn't a wow, but the ambiance, music and view made it worth it. Spa was terrific! Book a service here - they do it right. Felt upsold most of the time we were there for an all-inclusive but not pushy.

Our room on the first night was so noisy we could not sleep at all.
The next day we were told it’s because it is close to the street. The other option we were offered was no better. For $50 per night more we moved to a better room closer to the center of the property. It took a while and felt like a time waste.
I was disappointed as our room was expensive to start with.
The service is good. Not excellent. Not proactive. Everyone is polite and kind but not thoughtful.
My husband paid to use the hydrotherapy, he had to leave after 15. Minutes because the outside noise from the local carnival made it impossible. The staff agreed to him coming the next day but also didn’t warn him before. Just a waste of time.

My overall experience was a 7. I traveled with my husband to celebrate his birthday and we have experienced multiple resorts over the years. The overall experience was okay. Although the resort claims to be “all-inclusive” they try to sell you everything they can. The worst part was staff hounding you down to sell you a cabana which blocked all views to the pool and beach. The beach was definitely on the lower end. It was not private at all and it is accessible to the public, which made our walks very uncomfortable. The best part of the hotel was the aesthetics, the food, and how walkable it is to the city. If you want to go out and shop or party all night, the walkable distance is worth it. We wanted to relax, so it was not what we were looking for. I have been to better resorts with better experiences.

Great time. Had one of the four oceanfront swim up pool next to the big gazebo. Awesome spot. Quick walk to pool if that's your thing or just chill on the patio, in the pool, or right on the beach. Food was great overall. Some things weren't to our liking and other things we got twice! Drinks were generally weak. Awesome coffee! Got couples massage at Magic Spot, 2 minute walk from the front gate. Saw some raccoons and a possum a few times - good bug eaters and they ignore you. Beach is really small. Seaweed is around. I was bad one morning after a pretty windy prior day but they had people out there cleaning it up. They offer numerous activities like yoga, stretching, neat little arts and crafts, pool games, nightly shows - do it all or do nothing! I'd go back.

We had a swim-up king suite with ocean front that was fantastic. Probably the best type of room at the resort. The beach was beautiful and the pools and grounds impeccably maintained. David our butler went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable from turning off a motion sensor light in the bathroom to making sure the fridge had the drinks we wanted. Where the resort was lacking however was in the food department. Spice had solid offerings, although not as varied as other resort’s, however we had pretty disappointing meals at Pelicanos. The Chef’s Plate was extra (like $100+ per person) so we passed on that. We got a facial at the spa as well as a body treatment for $170 per person. That was a total rip off. The facial did not even include exfoliation - just a bunch of products lathered on one after another. My skin felt drier after the facial than before… As for the body treatment, it was basically a vigorous body scrub that was then rinsed off with a wet towel. Hydrating cream was $30 extra. The hydrotherapy circuit should not even be advertised as such: two warm water hot tubs, a cold plunge, a steam room that was not hot enough and a sauna set to not even break a sweat. I did enjoy the cold plunge though. That was invigorating. Location for the resort was a big draw for us, with 5th avenue right out the door. Of course it is very touristy and overpriced but also very lively and fun. We were not crazy about all the upsell attempts made to squeeze more money out of us.

We've been coming to this resort since before it was a Hyatt or a Hilton it was called the Royal Playa del Carmen. It has retained some of its original charm. Overall the food is less quality but still good. Can't changed it to reservation only for dinners which was a letdown because it was not that way in the past overall still clean and great location

We have stayed at at 12+ resorts in the Playa del Carmen / Cancun area over the past 15 years in this price range and this is clearly in the top half of the well rated resorts we have been too.
