Very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. We checked in just after 5pm. The hotel car park reserved for hotel guests, were all full with non hotel guests who were parked there and spending the day at the seafront. The lobby were unable to help with the parking. It was a matter of tough luck! The front desk staff were hardly friendly or accommodating. All they wanted was payment upfront. That was it. We were given a city view room on the 9th floor. Room was dated, furniture was worn and scratched. The a/c was rickety and there were water drips from the ceiling. There was tea and coffee in the room but no cream or milk sachets. When we went to ask for milk or cream, we were told that we had to buy it. In the end I went to the bar and managed to get a small jug of milk. You can order coffee with milk but not tea with milk- you have to pay separately for the milk.
We were to attend a wedding the next day but there was no iron. We went to front desk and they could not find an iron. They said it was on the 3rd floor utility room, so we went there but no iron to be seen.
Bathroom shower tray was plastic and flexing, causing water to leak out to seep under the vinyl flooring. Clearly, it had been leaking a long time it was all heavily water stained and damp.
I do not think I would never recommend staying at this hotel to anyone. It was hard to see any gratitude from the management staff to guests staying at the hotel.

My Honest opinion

Hotel was good. The hallways and rooms are very dark, additional lighting in the room and lighter wall colours would brighten up the areas and look much better. I would say the hotel needs a bit of a refresh. The rooms are spacious, we had a room with an extra bed and it had a pretty large closet. The beds although at first we thought they would be hard to sleep on, we did sleep well and in the end I would say they were good.

Breakfast was the same every day, although the fresh fruit and pastries were very good. We thought that the scrambled eggs were a bit watery for our taste, but we were all able to find something to eat that we enjoyed.

The pool area was nice, there is no shallow end, so make sure to bring floaties for the kids. I would say that it is approximately shoulder deep (adult 5’8) in the most shallow part.

Elevators are small and can get busy (there are 4).

There are 2 free parking lots (that are monitored during the day). When you arrive there isn’t much space to park near the doors to check in because they allow cars to park right near the front doors and you have to block them in if you want to unload your luggage. They should keep that area clear for checking in only. Also they allow people to park in the middle which can be an issue for people that are not the best at parking in tight spaces.

Overall it was a successful trip, but I would probably go to a different hotel next time. Mostly weather related it was very windy being so close to beach

We love the location and the staff is really nice. The rooms were clean but the property needs a facelift.
The pool was chipped and dangerous for children with missing chunks of tile and mold along the rim. Anything was old. Quite shocking considering the location. Very sad actually as it was one of our favorite hotels to visit during the summer.

Where do I start! Our rm key failed every single day.
There isnt any foods for type 2 diabetes. The pool had loose hand gribs. And missing tiles to which were very sharp. The entrance ramp had big holes in the rubber mat. There were absolutely no fans in rooms. Oh and forget about lights. Putting makeup pretty much in the dark especially on the bottom floor room.
Good luck. But, wont be back there.

Great value for the money, excellent service

Cleaning service was excellent. Rooms a little dark, missing ceiling light. Pool is great and worth to visit, but remember wearing a swimming cap. Enter free is 5€ and same goes if you buy a cap. Staff at reception always helpful and managed all our expectations with a smile. Thank you.

A good holiday

The hotel is located on the beach front which is accessed through a secure gate from the Pool area of the hotel. This access also leads to a seafront walk to the town centre. The pool is very good and has a chides play area next to it. Sunbeds were sufficient but unless more are available they would be in short supply at busy times.
During our stay the hotel was very quiet, which suited us and seemed to cater to groups of coach parties.
Breakfast was a good choice from hot with boiled or scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage through to a selection of cooked meats, cereals, croissants etc.
Light snacks are available from the bar but as the hotel was quiet finding a member of staff to serve you during the day was quite difficult at times. In the evening there was live entertainment on some days which we enjoyed.
Our room was of average size and had a comfortable king size bed, the bathroom had a cascade shower and was of a good standard.
Staff in the hotel were without exception very pleasant and helpful, in particular the reception staff we spoke with.
The hotel is located near the edge of town but we found several restaurants on the walk into the centre.
There is a metro service from the town centre to Porto. We enjoyed our stay.

Very large hotel set up for both business and leisure travelers. Rooms very nice, recently renovated. Views from room spectacular. Service good. \"Restaurant\" enormous and buffet oriented - a la carte food was not great. We don't like dinner buffets so was a disappointing evening meal, but service and wine was great. Breakfast was good. Nice pool area outside (was too cold unfortunately to swim when we were there)

Great location and good hotel

Booked for myself and a colleague for a work trip, the hotel is good, room is spacious, clean and modern. The internet is very fast in the hotel, I was surprised because there were 3 bus loads of footballers in the hotel and still internet was good. From service point of view it was a little difficult, not many waiters spoke English, was hard to order, also the room was baking hot, it took 3 days and multiple people involved I tip they told me that centralized heating/cooling was still set to heating. I got the feeling it was impossible to stop the centralized heating even though I had stopped the fans, heating etc, only way was to sleep with the window wide open but there a fan on the roof that made a lot of noise ... but I préfères that then the heat of the room. This was really the only negative, mid season with a centralized system is hard but the room was awful hot and hard to bare. People in the hotel were friendly and I’m sure we will use this hotel again, it’s right on the beach and I’m hoping in summer/Winter they will have the right temp control.

Very good hotel and close to all amenities . Breakfast could have had a little more choice. You must get up early to put a towel down if you want a sunbed. Lots of locals did this early in the morning and then went it for the day and came back for a swim about 5!! Rooms are very well appointed

The hotel is right on the beach. The pool is beautiful however it was freezing cold and we couldn't swim in it and it was in July and hot out
The indoor pool was nice and warm but you need to wear a shower cap and you have to pay to swim in it
The breakfast was okay with a good selection of food

The front staff are not always the friendliest

The stay was just for one night before the visit to Porto. We decided to sleep near from the ocean. This hotel is great with it seaview. Really strange city - there was very few people. But a lot of buildings near of the coast.
Hotel is not bad, bit there a some questions with the breakfast. I expect it with better meals. Staff are friendly and kind.

The Location is Perfect, in a beautiful city (Povoa) close to the ocean and good facilities. But people who daily clean the room are not pro, as some times they forgot to refill soap and shampoos. Also, they do not give you sleepers as it is not included in the service. Try to get a room with sea view, it worth the extra charge.

we stayed at this hotel for a second time last year (2015) and the hotel condition was somewhat better following their reno. the hotel's in a great location on the beach and has a nice pool. One thing i would not recommend however is the restaurant. not only was the food below average, we found a finger nail in our soup!!!! so disgusting!

This was an \"add on\" to a package holiday there. We cannot fault the service, cleanliness etc. The rooms were overlooking the sea. Only downside was its towards end of the town and weather was not good so could not see as much as we would have liked.

The hotel is a little characterless ( ex Novotel), but the location & facilities make up for it. It is spotlessly clean, the bedrooms are comfortable & quiet. For approx 10E p day, it is well worth upgrading to a sea view room with small balcony. The pool is fantastic, and the beach is just over a small road. For the price (80E p n inc b/fast) it is very good value. The breakfast is very generous, but doesn't change much from day to day. Another plus of this hotel is that you can easily walk into town for a wide variety of excellent restaurants, shopping, a very large fishing port etc. The Metro line runs into the centre of Porto in around 45mins & only cost 2.70 E each way. I did not find the staff particularly friendly. They perform their jobs effeciently, but without great enthusiasm.

Hotel is a little tired looking inside but was clean, efficient and in a good location. Check in staff went out of their way to please. The pool is beautiful with lots of lounge chairs.

A great base in Povoa

Our sea-facing room made our stay well-nigh perfect - ideal for a sundowner on the balcony before venturing out to one of the many great restaurants in Povoa (...some a little further to walk than others ) The hotel pool was one of the best ever, perfect temperature and more than big enough for committed swimming. Service at the hotel was excellent, at all levels.

La estancia en Axis Vermar ha sido buena, a secas, y toda la valoración de la buena limpieza de las instalaciones,las excelentes opciones para el desayuno, la tranquilidad de la habitación y la comodidad de su zona exterior, algunas veces empañada por el ruido de los gritos de los niños/as que se hospedan (algo lógico y que corresponde a sus padres pero ahí el hotel no tiene culpa). Todo esto queda empañado por la cama de la habitación, dos colchones antiguos y de muelles que provocaron que el descanso que se busca en unos días fuera de casa, fuese IMPOSIBLE. No puedo entender cómo un hotel de estas características todavía tiene colchones de este estilo y no se preocupan de poner un viscoelástico encima que amortigüe y haga posible el descanso y que durante todas las mañanas el dolor de espalda fuese una constante. Esto empaña nuestra estancia en sobre manera y la valoración baje mucho.

The bathroom was not clean, it had hair on the floor from the user before me. Also, there was a shaver in the shower from the guest prior to me! Disgusting!
When I checked in, the young girl in the reception hardly spoke english so it was difficult to communicate.

Atendimento no check in foi exatamente rude e pouco prestável.
O meu quarto tinha um vidro partido em cima do lavatório e cabelos no ralo do chuveiro.
Pedi três tostas mistas pelo serviço de quarto que me foram servidas 1h30 depois, queimadas e frias.
No momento do jantar , recusaram me mesa alegando ser necessário fazer reserva , algo que nenhum funcionário do hotel me tinha alertado.

Incidente inaceitavel no restaurante do Axisvermar

Ontem, tentei jantar no restaurante do hotel e notei que havia muitas mesas livres. Fiquei na fila esperando que franceses e alemães entrassem. Quando chegou a minha vez na fila, o atendente me perguntou se eu tinha reserva. Respondi que não e que em nenhum lugar estava indicado que era necessário reservar mesa para o buffet.

O atendente me pediu para voltar mais tarde, alegando que o restaurante estava cheio. Eu verifiquei que o restaurante não estava cheio e que todos os anteriores na fila entraram sem reserva.

Essa é uma situação inaceitável para um cliente que retorna ao hotel pela segunda vez. Foi uma vergonha ver que todos entraram e eu não.
Isso será notificado à Proteção do Consumidor de Portugal, ao site Hotels.com e divulgado nas redes sociais.

Quanto vale um cliente que retorna ao seu hotel? Um comentário nas redes sociais pode impactar significativamente o Hotel Axis Vermar.

Si vous êtes une personne de
couleur ne réserver pas dans cet hôtel. Le personnel est pas très accueillant, nonchalant et font preuves de discrimination sûrement involontaires. Nous nous sentons observer constamment ce qui était gênant et malaisant! L’eau de la piscine et du spa est très froide. Fauteuil en chambre très bas et le lit pas très confortable, au niveau de la restauration c’était un peu répétitif. Si vous êtes français et de couleurs sachez que sa dépend y’a des membres du personnel qui disent ne pas parler français puis quand il y a une personne de couleur blanche d’un coup il parle français.
Je ne retournerai clairement pas dans cet hôtel, je me sentais pas bien là-bas avec mon copain nous étions honnêtement mal à l’aise, tout le temps des regards quoi qu’on faisait. Quand on passait a coter d’eux sa tenait leur affaire comme si on allait voler leur affaires.
Franchement merci à Marcelo d’avoir était très très gentil avec nous, très sympathique c’était un peu le seul qui se comporter « normalement » avec nous.

Atendimento muito bom na receção. Serviço de Spa por 5€ por pessoa com acesso a piscina com hidromassagem, sauna e banho turco. Pequeno almoço muito bom. Quarto limpo e espaçoso. Recomendo.

O pequeno almoço poderia ser de melhor qualidade. O acesso ao Spa é pago e deve ser pago na hora, poderia estar incluso no preço, não emprestam roupão.
