We were constantly surrounded by Balinese sincere kindness and attention to every need.

Lovely hotel with lovely staff. Many of whom have worked there since the hotel opened 20 years ago.

You can't do better in my mind and I've traveled the world.

Viceroy stay August 2025

We stayed in the Garden Villa, one of the more luxurious villas. Private pool (heated upon arrival!). A lot of luxury and space, all very nice.

We tried both restaurants, the fine dining one with a set menu (vegetarian option available) had amazing food. Expensive… but worth it.

We never got to rhe communal pool as our own was so good.

Complimentary shuttle to/from Ubud. Otherwise for other transport, get the Grab app, works very well and cheap - 25 Euro for a 2 hour drive). You need cash for this.

Tried Ubud Palace and the dance show, very nice but to see anything you need to come 1 - 1.5 hour before show and get a front seat.

Our experience at the Viceroy Ubud could not have been better.

Starting with the facilities, I can’t remember having a more beautiful hotel room. And we travel a lot. The entire facility was exceptionally well designed and felt very fresh and clean. We loved it.

Our pool suite was incredibly spacious, and we really did have our own private heated pool. It was phenomenal!

The staff was well trained and incredibly attentive. We ate dinner in the hotel both nights, and were quite pleased with the quality of the food and the service.

As nice extras, the hotel had a social hour the first night we were there, which included free, cocktails, which is always appreciated. They also had a great little spread of food.

Both restaurants are very good, and very different. We went to both and liked them.

We both got massages, and were quite pleased with those as well - both in terms of quality and price. And we took the complimentary morning yoga class, which we also enjoyed. The resort was so nice that we made the last-minute decision after arriving to center our entire Ubud experience around it!

The general manager, Patrick Farrell, took it personal interest in us. We felt like he genuinely cared about us and the experience we had at the hotel.

We’re delighted with the very peaceful nature of the resort given how hectic a day can be as a tourist in Bali.

We hope to return someday!

As a local taxi driver put it, “they treat you like kings (and queens) in there.” We enjoyed our pool suite villa, and took advantage of the two excellent restaurants in the hotel, with Apertif one of the best in Ubud. Tip: don’t skip the welcome drinks at the Apertif bar, easily one of the best with old-world decor oozing speakeasy vibes. Daily free hotel activities for guests, golf carts taking you from your room to anywhere on hotel property, and stunning views morning and night make staying here a 10/10 vacation experience.

Stunning and super tranquil resort

Amazing, beautiful and tranquil villas in the middle of Ubud and just a 10 minute ride to the downtown area.

The entire atmosphere was so tranquil and the grounds were absolutely stunning. Top quality finishings, fixtures and amenities throughout the resort. The hotel room was very spacious with a private pool which was absolute bliss.

The staff were extremely accommodating, paying attention to every detail. The food and drinks were delicious. Not one thing was left without attention.

Absolutely Superb Resort

It’s clear to us why the Viceroy earned their Conde Nast World Class rating. The grounds are impeccable, the view of the lush green valley is magnificent, and the relatively small size of the complex (<50 villas) supports a very high staff to guest ratio resulting in high touch quality care where guests are recognized and greeted by their names. Check-in was effortless and welcoming, our buggy ride to the villa provided a bird’s eye view of the grounds (spa, restaurants, exercise facility, bar, pools, etc), and our villa was expansive, well laid out, and pleasurable. Wifi was constant and dependable and service was prompt and responsive. Food was generally high quality, but some dishes were better than others. The staff’s fluency in English made the stay easy. Their shuttle services to/from Ubud was appreciated.

The Cascade restaurant is very elegant with good plant-based choices. The Aperitif (2nd restaurant) is also very chic for fine dining, but the portion size is extremely small. An incredible stay at the best hotel I’ve ever stayed up. It well lives up to its reputation of being one of the best hotels in the world. The attention to detail is fantastic right down to the twice a day housekeeping service. The villas which all come with a heated pool overlook the jungle and rice terraces and really make you feel like you’re in your own secluded paradise. This hotel is 5+.

The hotel has two restaurants on site both of which were exceptional. I stayed I. The deluxe Villa Terrace suite it is beautiful. Everything about this suite was high end luxury.

This hotel was tucked away in unspoiled nature. Seeing the steam rise from the canyon after a rain never disappointed. On the first night, monkeys were migrating through my yard. I think they wanted the welcoming fruit basket. Jero took really good care of us. It was also nice talking to Agas, who has a sister in Nashville. Everyone was so friendly. I am not a fine diner, but I can appreciate the care and effort the restaurant staff took. Edi took time to talk about the local dishes created.

Amazing property, the only thing I regret is not staying here longer. My husband and I did not want to leave our villa considering the amazing room and view we had. They also had a stunning restaurant/ bar (aperitif) that served the most delicious cocktails and appetizers. The welcome drinks were the best ones by far from hotel we stayed at in Bali. They also knew we were celebrating our honeymoon and they welcomed us with a happy honeymoon cake and bid us farewell with a flower bath. Our stay was perfection.

Beautiful rooms and staff are very eager to please, you liturally only have to step one foot towards someone and they run to you asking for what you need or want. When we needed to get a taxi to our next location they provided it for free. The only down side was that we arrived after our check in time and the room was still unable to be used until nearly an hour after we had checked in then on the day of check out they called twice to check when we were checking out one to arrange a buggy from our room to reception as it is a steep hill with suitcases then another before the buggy arrived to check we were checking out that day a little frustrating being chased when we were waiting on them. Regardless of this it was a lovely hotel and would still recommend
