Dusty, smelly, and dirty. Only Asmae is willing to help yet her hands are tied. Very limited for what she can do for guests.
Both indoor and outdoor construction created this unlivable dusty environment, which caused my asthma to kick in.
My “senior suite” was with strong gasoline odor when I tried to go to sleep. After 20 minutes the odor became stronger. I requested room change before gas poisoning. First run there gave me was small, damp, and moldy. I refused to take it. They finally offered an adequate yet still fussy room.
I wish I could give them zero star.

The room was beautiful and comfortable, dinner on the rooftop was delicious and service impeccable. Close to the mosque so be prepared to wake up before sunrise to the sound of prayer calls, which we thought was a good thing to experience, culturally, but some people might be very upset about that.

The property is located on the side of the main road, easy drop off and pick up, did not feel welcome when we arrived, and staff was not present. The property should be a good choice for people who are looking for local style accommodation, absolutely can not be compared to real hotel, flies bugs everywhere, hair on the floor and blanket, overall, just for different experience. Breakfast only offer one boiled egg per person, plus few different kinds of bread, coffee was very disappointing.

Didnt like the bathroom facility: no shower door, bathroom /toilet open to bedroom, no extraction fan in bathroom. Food was excellent and terrace was very pleasant. The staff, Aziz, Mobamad and Omar were very courteous and helpful/accomodating.

The hotel is in a great place in Meknes, within easy walking distance of everywhere you would want to visit. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Rooms were basic but beautiful, bed was a little uncomfortable as it was in two distinct pieces.

Staff did not show us around the property when we checked into our room, we had to ask how to access the rooftop. There was also construction going on in the main floor and the water access in the room was turned off for a few hours which we were not warned about. The room was clean and breakfast in the morning was good.

Spacious room in a good location

Riad Yacoud was fine for an overnight visit. Its handy to the Medina and a number of other locations to visit.
In my first visit to Morocco the bar was set very high in terms of the quality of the Riads i stayed in in Marrakesh and Fez.

Lovely Riad just by the Medina

The Riad is lovely, the reception staff very helpful and so were all the other staff. We had a meal there and was very good also.

Great place, traditional moroccan rihad (house), great stuff and a 2min walk to the main square. They helped us organize a trip to Volubilis and Moulay Idriss with a great taxi driver (Mohammed, spoke only French and Arabic) that made us eat local food with him when we asked him. It was 2 of us and price was reasonable but can fill the car up with four people I believe.

The staff was very gracious and helpful. The location is located near several historical sites, medina, and Lanham Square. The rooms and hotel are in traditional Moroccan style with heating and air conditioning. I enjoyed two dinners there that were excellent.

The place overall has seen better days. Our room was small, and it had a musty smell. Not a great divide between bathroom and bedroom. AC worked, but just barely. It took hours to cool the room. It was however in a good location and parking was right outside the Riad. I would not recommend it for more than 1 day.

The Riad Yacout is more like a mini-resort than a hotel.

From the moment you walk through the main door to check-in, unitl the moment you check-out and leave, this place is wonderfully kept, peaceful and quiet. The room that we stayed in (#10), was spacious and comfortable. The patio on the roof has a small pool to cool off in (it's only about three feet deep but it does the job!). The staff are incredibly kind, helpful and go the extra mile to ensure that you are having a good stay. We would like to offer a special thank you to Fatima for all of her help and guidance. I wish would we could give this place more than 5 stars because it deserves it!

Riad Yacout was a perfectly nice hotel in a great location. The reception and staff were friendly and dinner was delicious although sadly sans alcohol! Our room faced the square which proved to be quite noisy with motorbikes until quite late. There is a Mosque close by and the call to prayer was a pleasant relief.

Great location as it is on the medina external wall, right next to the main gate of Bab Mansour, which is more convenient for taxi drop off or pick up than being inaide the medina. Rooms are cold but there is AC with heat, sufficiently clean room and shower. Wifi was not always working properly: i had less issues with my iphone but my husband couldn’t connect with his Samsung. Breakfast is amazing and plentiful with bread, yogurt, cheese, pancakes, boiled egg, fruit cup, orange juice and coffee or tea.

Shower incidents ruined the good rating

It's a beautiful Riad, close to all main attractions and right by the Place Lalla Aoudas quare. The view is amazing!

The breakfast was basic, nothing to report home about, But I was super impressed about their lunch. I was supposed to catch a train to Fes in the evening and was hoping to have lunch before i left, but I was late back to the Riad at close to 3pm. They are supposed to be closed already, however the staff arranged nice morrocan salad for me which are both delicious and healthy. So happy I had that meal.

However I could only give them 3 stars because there hot water issues happened to me twice, and I only stayed for night. The night before when I prepared to take shower there was no hot water, I talked to the staff, it seems they turned the hot water off. The next morning just when I was all soaped up, the hot water, and actually even the cold water was gone, leaving me to clean up with suddenly disappear water and then drips. Later on I was told that there was some issues with the tank and I was offered to take a shower in another room if I wanted to. Maybe it's my bad luck but having two shower incidents in one night stay is not fun.

Don't Go on a Windy Day!

This was one of the worst nights I have ever spent in a hotel. The open courtyard in the center of the riad was covered with a plastic tarp. The wind blew all night long and the shaking tarp made it sound like the entire building was falling apart. I could not sleep and in desperation I had to wear headphones all night long. The hotel is well located but the staff was indifferent and uncaring unlike almost every other place we stayed in Morocco. The rooms were small but adequate.

A Great RIyad!

This Riyad is great - the staff are excellent, as is the food and the local area. It is easy to get onto the roof terrace and have a great view over the square and to the hills beyond - Meknes is highly recommended as a \"low pressure\" location - absolutely no hassles, very relaxed!

Two parts to this review:

For the Hotel (room 6) :
The room was clean and the AC was ice cold. The shower worked, and was stocked with shampoo, soap etc. The biggest issue is that the door that separates the room's was thin and I could hear the room next door, what they did in the bathroom, and their conversations. It wasn't worth the cost in my opinion
Restaurant:
Had dinner here at the restaurant for 10 people. They delivered the food quickly and interacted in Arabic, French, and English well. They also accommodated our potentially eating on both the bottom floor, or the roof. The food itself was above average for the area, but based on its high rankings on other sites I'd say you can find a better group meal, or individual meal within walking distance.

This place really helped me out when it was too late for me to go to Fes. I stayed two nights. The owner speaks excellent French and English and was very kind and helpful. Note that it is not situated in the medina as Google maps might have you think. One taxi refused to take me here because I said Medina Kebira when I should have just said next to Bab Mansour. Overall I was very comfortable and one of the best, cleanest riads I have stayed in. My bathrooms were clean (I stayed in two different rooms) I love also that it is close to everything but the street is very calm.

Surrounding construction work hurts

The front entrance of the hotel faces a parking lot, on the we arrived, the entire parking lot was walled off for construction work. There was no sign on where the hotel was and how to get to the front entrance. Fortunately, a couple of local residents took us through the side openings and led us to the hotel. The hot water in the shower did not work, after telling the night manager and he tweaked something, we got the lukewarm water, and the next morning, the hot water did not work again. It served great breakfast though.

They did upgrade us to very nice suite but there was an issue with a musty ordor which they moved us for. Wifi was down when we were there but they do have new hispeed system.

A Truly Great Riad

Simply put, it was an absolute delight to stay at the Riad Yacout. The staff were expecting us when we arrived and had tea ready for us while we completed the registration process. Our rooms were clean, tastefully appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was the pretty much standard continental style affair however the supper offerings were excellent. Easily the best chicken tagine I've had on any of my 3 trips to Morocco. The staff were courteous, professional and very helpful and were quite genuine in their desire to make our stay the best possible experience. The Riad Yacout is the best riad experience I've had in Morocco and I can't recommend them too highly.

Perfect oasis - don't trust Google Maps!

Do NOT trust Google maps to get you here if you are driving. It is much easier to get to the place if you are careful about not getting stuck driving through the medina (this is how Google maps tries to get you there). I'd recommend asking for a map from the hotel before you go. The pool is delightful, the room was clean and comfortable, the couscous was delicious, and we enjoyed wine on the rooftop. We were in need of a chill night, and this place was the perfect location for it (we did not go into the medina on this night). It is right next to the medina, so you are close to the good stuff if you want it. Parking was easy on the street, but only after we figured out how to get to the hotel. The staff is very helpful and patient and kind.

Great Riad and fantastic quiet location. Taxi from station 50 dh for 4 adults with bags and warmly greeted at the door by staff. Choice of rooms for our 2 adult children were a bonus. Dinner at Riad very traditional and a little expensive as we relied on staff for quantities which meant we left about 1/2 food we couldn't eat. Breakfast also very traditional and about right size. Check out time at 12 a little earlier than our train out but owners and staff ok about us using the lounge with wifi for another hour. Overall a great stay and would highly recommend it.

A true welcome

It was my first stop in Morocco, and Riad Yacout was a great way to be introduced to the country. Staff was unfailingly pleasant, the riad was clean, comfortable and very handsome. Location was a major plus. The real best asset of the riad was the manageress, Layla. Personable, multi-lingual and a thorough professional, Layla was the perfect ambassador for Morocco. I consider myself fortunate to have met her and to have stayed at Riad Yacout.

In the Middle of the Medina

The Riad Yacout was a wonderful find. It was close to the some of the must see in Meknes from my guidebook. At the same time, it is on a real street, so you can get a petit taxi--they can also arrange for transportation to various sites in and near the city. The Riad is right in the center of town, especially if you want to see old Meknes. The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was great and people were so welcoming. I was visiting my sister who lives in the city, so I was there for many days. It was wonderful to watch people from many nations come through the door. People were friendly, so there was some sharing of experiences. Overall the atmosphere was very relaxed and you could have tea when you wanted. It was cold in the city, but the room was warm and comfortable. My niece and I had twin beds, which was all the room could handle, but we enjoyed the room, which had a bench as well as the bed. We also had plenty of space for storage. I would recommend it. It has been renovated and the colors are very Morocco. What is a huge plus is the hospitality. People are welcome in many languages.

great place to stay in a beautiful square in the heart of the old town and right across from the major souks. There is parking around the square but it may not clear out until late evening. Place is very difficult to find in a car until you have been there. Online maps and our GPS did not list the address. We ended up parking on the edge of the medina and taking a taxi there the first time.

We stayed one night during a car trip through Morocco and were very pleased with our decision to book at this riad. It is well located to major attractions in the medina and area. The riad has an unassuming entrance that opens up to an oasis from the street. We found the staff to be very helpful, accommodating and appeared to be genuinely interested in ensuring our stay was a great experience. We enjoyed our first tagine and taste of local wine in the dining room - both were excellent.

Franco-American Expat in Morocco

If you're looking for a more authentic Moroccan experience, then this is the place for you. It's fairly traditional, but with enough comfort touches to suit most westerners. It was hard to find, because it's tucked on a plaza inside the fortress walls. Mappy and my GPS with Moroccan maps couldn't find the plaza. We finally resorted to the true Moroccan GPS...we asked the gendarmes...three of them...and we finally found the place.
The staff is wonderful and will go to great lengths to make you happy. Breakfast is not a buffet, but a pleasant selection of Moroccan breads. AND their restaurant serves some of the finest Moroccan food we have tried. You have to reserve early in the day; because if no one reserves, they don't open the dining room. A very rainy night forced us to stay; and we were delighted. They even serve some delicious Meknes wines.
The Souk and most of the sights are within walking distance. So, give it a try.

WOW !!!!!! MUCH MORE THAN I EXPECTED

The hotel is breathtaking. It is a small boutique hotel with wonderful clean and beautiful rooms. The service is outstanding and the owner is always around ready to help and serve. We really recommend this hotel. We normally travel to spend time outside the hotel. Here we stayed more time in the hotel due to its comfort and service.

Nice hotel, very conveniently located

The hotel is in easy walking distance of the major sights. Service is excellent and the staff very friendly. This is a better choice than hotels located in the souk itself.

This was an excellent authentic very friendly hotel. Truly authentic but simple, family environemnt but very professional, excellent service, great location, well worth staying there.. absolutely enjoyable. travelled through Morocco alone as a woman and had a great time. hotel arranged for me for an exceptional guide.. simply tops!

The Riad you dream about

Riad matches everything I pictured when I thought of the quintessential Moroccan experience. Rooms are tastefully decorated w/ great attention to detail. The staff are wonderful! You definitely feel at home. The owners are passionate about what they do and will do whatever it takes to ensure you have a memorable experience. I left with friends for life. Be sure to take advantage of the rooftop terrace. A great place to people watch and have lunch or dinner. The food is outstanding. Some of the best dishes I've had in Morocco.
