This hotel accurately reflects the history of Serbia. Once a bastion of luxury and riches, it has now faded. However, don't let that put you off going if you're into Yugo-nostalgia. If you want a nice hotel to rest in, choose somewhere else. If you want an experience, this is the place to come. The lifts sound like they would have in the 1980s. The decor looks like it's from the same time period. It's not particularly clean and in places there were exposed wires. But, we got an excellent story out of our stay!

The hotel is located a few km from the center of Belgrade. It is roughly a one hour walk to the famous Kalmegdan fortress. The hotel is somewhat dilapidated and clearly had better times when it was one of Yugoslavia's best hotels. The staff are friendly and speak English but on a number of occasions, didn't follow through with requests I made (e.g. to acquire batteries for the television remote control). The free breakfast is in general good, but the staff are not friendly and a bird was scanning the floor looking for food. The toilets in a few rooms I stayed in were unstable and need to be better attached to the floor. Parking is free and the room rate was very reasonable. Taxis can be summoned by the front desk and come in 5-10 minutes.
In summary, I will probably stay here again due to all of the perks but if you want a more luxurious hotel, you might want to stay elsewhere.

Booked two double rooms next to each other ended up being given two rooms with single beds.
Upon complaining they were able to find two double rooms but further apart from each other.
The room smelt bad had a leak in the sink in bathroom which caused water build up in front of toilet bowl.

One of the worst hotel I have ever been in my life , photo shows different pictures , only reception area is ok as per picture, the rooms are from the year 1969 to now is same. Hotel outside is ugly , don’t book this hotel

Different experience….

This is my second time staying at this hotel and this time I guess we stayed at the non-renovated room that was more expensive than the last. Just walking down the hallway I felt strange because even the hallway and hotel doors were very old looking. When we walked in first thing I got was this old smell, like the room was vacant for months. Everything was in like 80s style , except the TV ….a/c was there but it ‘worked’ like it didn’t exist , so we opened the balcony door to get some air ,that was a mistake because mosquitoes kept coming in….I needed to take a sleeping pill to fall asleep …after this experience If I ever God forbid book there I will ask for more renovated room. The only good experience was when we went outside the room and to the Diner place connected to the hotel , A/C , good food and drinks.

Pleasantly surprised

Great Location in Zemun , beautiful Danube and Belgrade (in the distance) view. Didn’t have much expectation because of how the hotel looked from outside but I was pleasurably surprised. This place has it all , a Casino , diner (yea real diner), restaurants , clubs/bars, river bars and clubs ....service was excellent! Room was clean and maybe they need some type of furniture out on the balcony but that wasn’t a big deal. Room has a/c ...happy with the stay!

This is a very old hotel which needs a few million euros spent upon it. The rooms are small and in poor condition. The bathroom fittings are very dated and in bad condition. The location is quite a long way from Belgrade town centre but it right on the bank of the Sava river which is good for walking and enjoying the fresh air.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren!
Ich bin geschockt das dieses Hotel überhaupt noch existiert.
In der Beschreibung steht das ALLE Zimmer renoviert sind was ein kompletter Schwachsinn ist! Als wir ankamen dachte ich mich trifft der Schlag, ich bin zur Rezeption runter und habe nachgefragt ob wir ein neues renoviertes Zimmer bekommen könn wie es in der Beschreibung steht da ich es erwartet habe, die Dame an der Rezeption meinte das nur im 6 Stock alle Zimmer renoviert sind und der Rest nicht sie sagte das sie in der Früh mit dem Manager reden wird damit wir ein neues Zimmer bekommen! Die erste Nacht sind wir in unserem Zimmer geblieben im 3 Stock.
In der Früh habe ich an der Rezeption den Manager gefragt ob wir ein renoviertes Zimmer im 6 Stock erhalten können da die Kollegin meinte das es klappen sollte! Darauf hin hat mir der Manager gesagt das alle Zimmer gleich ausschauen und alle Zimmer renoviert wurden und es jetzt keinen Unterschied macht ob er uns ein anderes Zimmer geben wird.
Die Küche bzw. das Frühstücksbuffet ist eine reine Katastrophe, ich habe nur gehofft das ich keine Lebensmittelvergiftung bekomme!
Ich hätte eine Bitte, korrigieren Sie die Beschreibung des Hotels damit keine Leute mehr drauf reinfallen! Ich finde es einfach nur eine Frechheit wie Fake die Fotos aussehen und die Beschreibung ist!
Falls das jemand lesen sollte bitte fallt nicht drauf rein und sucht euch ein anderes Hotel!
Und das Personal könnte ein wenig an ihrer Freundlichkeit arbeiten!

Wir haben das Hotel aus nostalgischen Gründen gebucht. Es ist gut gelegen, mann kommt in kürzeste Zeit zur Kalemegdan Burg oder Knjaz Mihajlova Strasse. Die Donau fliesst neben dem Hotel und lädt zu einem Spaziergang ein. Am abend etwas laut da Musik von den Clubs an der Donau zu hören ist. Morgenessen gibt es bis 10:00 Uhr um 09:59 gibts leider keinen Kaffe mehr, der Kellner erwähnt höflich das es 10:00 Uhr ist und er keinen mehr aufgesetzt hat. Dafür gibt es auf der Donauseite neben dem Hotel eine Café das einen guten Kaffe und frischen Saft serviert. Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt in Belgrad ist das Hotel ok.

When we arrived we were informed we had to pay an additional amount of almost 2 EUR (or equivalent in dinnars) for some kind of fee that wasn't included in the reservation, which I definitely think should. Arriving with only USDs we couldn't be able to pay this amount, not even on transaction, it has to be made using a credit card or cash, which we didn't have in that moment. They mentioned that this 2 EUR would make the difference between staying in the hotel or having to leave!!!! Insane
Also bathroom was dirty, no iron, no hair dryer, no soup but just a LITTLE of shower gel (for should this is always included) When I opened a door the door handle fell to the floor. The Airbnb I stayed later was soooooo much better and clean than the whole hotel. Definitely a horrible experience, and we just stayed a night

D'une manière générale, l'hôtel tombe en ruine. La porte-fenêtre de ma chambre ne fermait pas alors que dehors il faisait moins de 0°C. Même avec le chauffage à fond, il faisait très froid dans la chambre avec de nombreux courants d'air. Je me suis plaint à la réception à plusieurs reprises. Ils m'ont dit qu'ils enverraient quelqu'un pour réparer mais il n'est jamais venu. Ils n'ont pas voulu me donner une autre chambre. Je suis parti avant la fin de mon séjour.

Grande hotel dell'era jugoslava, che, soprattutto nel bagno, mostra i segni del tempo. Ottima posizione per visitare sia il centro di Belgrado sia quel capolavoro urbanistico che fu Novi Beograd, che oggi, come tutto il paese, si sforza di rinascere dopo le nostre bombe.
Il soggiorno si è segnalato per il fatto che la nostra prenotazione non risultava alla reception, ragion per cui abbiamo dovuto rifarla pagando qualche euro in più. Colpa di Hotels.com?
