The place is nice with the beach and swimming pool. Their bathrooms are terrible on the resort. Also the cleanness of the rooms are okayeesh. But the bathroom looks really old and needs more work. Also the house keepers are very protective and slow on replying for extra towels or toilet papers. The rooms has a lot of insects entering due to cracks through the doors and window. This place needs a lot of fixing in order to maintain tourists coming from out of the country. Because it seems like the locals are the only ones keeping them up float. The only great plus I can give them is their swimming pool and beach. But staying there I wouldn’t recommend it just because of how the rooms are pourly maintained. Also the dinner is great but it seems they reuse some of the food from lunch.

The room was clean, the only complaint I would have is that they gave us a very hard time getting towels for the pool. First the lady by the pool told us that we should get a towel card, since we came late (8 pm) and they didn’t have them, we didn’t get a card. In the future we will bring towels for the pool…:-(

The waitress were excellent, the people at the counter were ok, at bar they were courteous. Excellent service overall. My wife and I plan to come over once more, but with towels…:-)

In an all-inclusive resort, I expect to have food at all times. We showed up at 5 pm hungry from the airport and were told dinner is till 7 pm. There is no other option but to wait because there are no additional restaurants to buy food or snacks. My room shower overflowed and all the room floor got wet; I had to call the front desk and have maintenance come to fix it and dry the floor. The door key kept getting inactive, so it’s not up to date like other inclusive hotels around the world. At the end, we ended up leaving for Managua and not staying the full length we actually booked for.

The staff was amazing. Nicaraguans are so friendly, attentive, and full of life. The room was in poor condition: the shower head fell off, the towels were frayed, the refrigerator was leaking and full of sand, the top sheet on the bed felt like paper. The bed was on roller. If you didn’t jump unto it, you might fall to the floor. There was no remote for the air conditioner. It was freezing. The drying rack on the porch broke off. THE FOOD WAS ALMOST INEDIBLE. I ate gallopinto (rice and beans) and cold bread with butter for most meals. The food at the pool was worse. The main food area/bar had slippery tiled floors.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at Barcelo Montelimar, primarily for its amazing setting and beach. The resort complex is large and spread out, but is walkable once you learn your way around. Our casita provide a good homebase for our stay, including a private porch with hammock and rocking chairs. Bathroom was basic but functional. Beds were comfortable. We didn't spend much time in the room other than to sleep. The all-inclusive food varied in quality and meal options seemed repetitive. We appreciated the table service. Beachfront was the focus for us--we loved the wide, sandy beach. The water was amazing-- mostly calm with waves large enough for excellent body-surfing without being too intimidating. Could've staying in the water all day. Gorgeous sunsets. Half hour horse rides on the beach for ten dollars. This is a very popular resort, and we would come back again.

Be careful before staying in this place. Only locals like to enjoy this place. Try other beaches before considering this place, but if you don’t have an option… avoid staying in room 215.

Only complaint is there was little to no hot water for the showers. You would have to take a shower before 6 am or after midnight. I am not sure if it was just our bungalow or widespread. The facilities were nice. Nightly entertainment was lively and fun. Guests are encouraged to participate. I would visit again.

The people of nicaragua are very nice people and very caring. A lot of the food was pretty nice besides a few options but that’s ok, i do not expect perfection. Overall the views were amazing, people always welcome you, you always felt safe, and the facilities are well maintained. I would say the price is fair for such a popular place and if you plan to visit nicaragua, it’s a place worth going to. Obviously always research before hand

I had been there about 8 years ago, this trip reveal that the quality of the staff and food has change to not good. The type of people also changed , not very pleasant at all.
I would not come back just because is not elite as it used to be. There was excessive wait time to check in and check out, there was too many people of poor behaviour , I did not enjoyed there company. the room frig, a/c , tv etc are ran down or not working at all. I would not recomend this hotel.

I was convinced to spend my vacation in Barcelo in Montélimar Nicaragua , the staff was very nice and friendly bar tender and kitchen staff very nice, but the place had roaches and ants inside the room crawling on top of my bed, also the area had no atmosphere, no music, no nothing I was hoping for, long lines to eat and I was very disappointed, I was expecting something else.

I had fond memories of this resort from when I was younger and came with family in 2012 and was really excited to come back with my family and relive those fond memories, but it seems this place is overcrowded, dirty and the food (buffet) is terrible which led to a few of us getting food poisoning. Would not stay here again, especially considering the price.

The Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was simple but had everything you need, It had lots of room and storage, and the shower had hot water. There are two swimming pools. One of them it’s small a bit of a walk. The main swimming pool is busy. The snack bar is simple with only a few options for food.
There is only one restaurant the service is OK but the food at lunch and dinner is always the same and not very good.

Can't give this place a perfect 5 but overall it's very good.

The beach is gorgeous. Clean, clear view of the sunset. Calm waves but great to swim in.

The room was where I'd like to give 4.5 stars but I'll round up because, because it's very minor. The soap/shampoo dispensers were empty on arrival. The AC is awkwardly placed where if you turn it on it hits the curtain so if you want privacy, you have to fenegle it a bit. We stayed at the double bungalow.

The food is great, I'm a vegetarian and I was scared I was going to have no options, but on the contrary, very generous varieties of salad, rice, vegetables, and various types of meats, as well as dessert.

We took the all-inclusive which included alcoholic drinks, they are given to you in small plastic cups. Cocktails as well, seem to be pre-made to serve people quickly, I had a piña colada and it was tasty and stuck to beer after.

The staff that is in charge of all the animation, games and shows at night was another highlight, truly talented and charismatic bunch, they host games during the day and night activities, so let loose and participate, it's so fun. Staff for food is very polite and helps you out when you request things rather quick.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend it.

I had to cut my vacation one day short. Not enough entertainment, food average, room without air-conditioning when we arrived, alcoholic drinks water down, I had to pay for an actual alcoholic drink for my sister to enjoy. The front desk accused me of missing hand towels. (this was the most ridiculous thing) When I complained about all of the above and left one day early, I was not even offer any money back or other accommodations, just to send an email to voice my concerns. I will NEVER go back to this hotel. The only good thing about the whole trip was seein the beach.

Loved the fried plantains. Hated the room, it was filthy, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in forever. There were bugs and ants everywhere, I killed a long poisonous black centipede that almost crawled onto my wife’s foot. The room was so dirty that we refused to walk barefoot. The locals basically took over every day of our stay, the adults only jacuzzi was filled with children. Your locals were extremely rude to my wife who happens to be African American. The food was subpar and somedays just not good at all. So disappointed in our stay, it totally almost ruined our anniversary but fortunately my wife is a sport about it. Everyday she work up with bite marks on her from whatever bugs were crawling around in the bed she slept in. When I booked I asked for a king size bed but was given a room with 2 full size beds. We have been to other Barcelo resorts and know that this doesn’t come even remotely close to the Barcelo standards, I suggest anyone looking at this location close your browser and run fast. The disappointment is beyond words to describe the nightmare of staying at Barcelo, Montelimar. Save your money go somewhere nice the locals have completely destroyed any chance of a decent stay. Couldn’t leave fast enough! ( Side note: Thank you Franklin and Karin at the front desk for being so nice. You guys are the only positive light that shines in this horrible place.)

El menú no es variable, y el sabor poco agradable.

El lugar es muy bonito y acogedor. Tuvimos un buen tiempo de descanso. La playa es muy limpia. El show familiar es muy bonito; sin embargo, la música en vivo solo toca un género musical específico. Si eres amante de la buena comida, te recomendaría que te alojes por poco tiempo. El menú no es variable, y el sabor poco agradable. La comida que sobra en el almuerzo la vuelven a preparar de otra manera y la sirven en la cena. El sabor se vuelve aún más diferente. Si no te gustó en el almuerzo, mucho menos te va a gustar en la cena.
Solo una chica tuvo la calidad de servicio y amabilidad a la hora de servir la mesa.

Kenia P was great with everything and so was the staff at bar Carey. The oceano restaurant was full of people with attitude and were very rude. The hotel was not clean and a lot of the restaurants and bars weren’t open and don’t stay open past 7pm. The drinks were waterer down and the food was nasty. I stayed at the barcelo in puerto Vallarta and it was way better. This was upsetting!

Is my 8th time at Montelimar, and I strongly recommend it to all, one of the best all inclusive resort. The beach front bungalow I had was amazing, from my window I could see the beautiful ocean, and just steps away, the main restaurant, and at each meal it was heavenly delicious.the staff would ask you if you want another drink of whatever you are drinking, before you ran out of it. I felt pampered and is the reason I keep going back, the treatment with respect and professionalism of a well trained staff. They have clubs and casino, and just call reception to pick you up , at night it turns into party time .at the Casino with shows, Disco and Casino. Just amazing. Hiubert Castellon.
