The hotel is located in the heart of Paipa in the Boyaca department of Colombia, in the central-eastern region of Alto Chicamocha. The hotel enjoys an excellent location overlooking Lake Sochagota.

There are numerous points of interest in the area, including the Bridge of Boyacá. On the shores of the lake and with all the charm of Boyacá, this design hotel is one of the most complete hotels in the area for events and family getaways.

Fully renovated in 2010, there are a total of 105 rooms and suites at this establishment. Guests are welcomed in a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service.

Facilities include a hotel safe, currency exchange, cloakroom, lift access to the upper floors, a kids' club, conference facilities and wireless Internet access. Guests can also wine and dine in the bar or restaurant onsite, whilst both room and laundry services are available.

This hotel is misleading on its marketing on known booking sites! It states it is 5 star and has AC but has none! If you think thats bad enough, you will be told to sleep with windows locked to prevent insects, which means you still cannot enjoy the cold air in absence of the promised AC as the windows do not have fly mesh. It is very hot and unsafe to breathe the same air overnight in the room. The safe didnt work in 302 and lastly I paid and booked a lake view and I got a bush view instead. Had to cut short my trip. I paid insurance on this trip. Lets see how it goes.

The service from check-in to check-out was great! By Colombian standards everything was great. Our friend and I shared a room and we both slept great on the beds. The semi-firm pillow felt like the one I have at home. The view was impressive and the food was great. Definitely coming back.
Special commendation to Angie at the reception, Eduardo the bell hop, and to the people at the reservations desk for making our reservations extra smooth! Thank you to the room service ladies for cleaning our room and making it look amazing. Thank you also to Cristian for being extra attentive when it came to getting assistance at the hot springs hot tubs. Thank you all!

Incredible hidden treasure by a beautiful lake. The termal waters, the pool, horse ridding and all the activities in the lake are enjoyable whether you want to relax or have fun (or both). Came with my 10 year old and my parents and everyone loved their stay. We will definitely be back! Staff here really know what excellent customer service is.

Best way to close a visit to Colombia. After visiting crowded cities and heavy traffic destinations, Paipa remains as peaceful and perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. This hotel is the closest to paradise you can imagine. Food, facilities, location by the lake … just a dream! The people? … just wonderful!….. My favorite Daniela in the restaurant! Beautiful young lady ready every time and great memory to keep track of customers faves… even “Luisa”… the “dog angel”… walking companion… perfect for us early walkers … we will be back at least for couple of days before returning to the States .. and hopefully for longer periods of time within five years after retirement!! Excited to be back ASAP

My fiancé and I stayed there. Her family came and met us there for the afternoon. They treated everyone great and the service was awesome. You can go on a boat ride around the lake, see sheep and cattle, and the property is beautiful.

On her birthday they found us and gave her a nice birthday breakfast cake. I’m still not sure how they did that haha.

The hot springs and pool are nice. Food is good. The police station is close and the property is secure. If you’re thinking about going here we had a great time.

Regresamos al hotel Estelar Paipa después de haberlo visitado hace unos 11 años y al principio parecía que nada había cambiado. Todo parecía igual y sin las mejoras que sentimos que necesitaba una década antes, específicamente un ventilador de techo en las habitaciones porque a veces se sienten cálidas y congestionadas y la falta de servicio en la piscina. Lo que significa que solo puede obtener alimentos, bocadillos o bebidas en un restaurante o mediante el servicio de habitaciones. Pero la vista espectacular y la tranquilidad de los jardines también siguen ahí y son una atracción digna, y la comida sigue siendo buena, especialmente el desayuno buffet que está incluido. Y luego descubrimos la única mejora excepcional, que es el spa hidráulico y el centro de sauna. ¡Esto es en un edificio exterior y es espectacular! Puede reservar una visita de una hora que resultó ser una experiencia de spa muy estructurada pero también absolutamente fabulosa. Por el costo de aproximadamente $ 50 por persona, un empleado lo guiará a través de varias estaciones, comenzando con aproximadamente 5 minutos en un spa finlandés, luego a una piscina elaborada equipada con una amplia gama de corrientes que trabajan todos los músculos. Fue una experiencia increíble que valió la pena cada peso.

Very nice and clean place to stay. The swimming pool, however, was really cold, specially after 6pm. They should higher up the Water temperature at least 2 degrees Celsius! Other than that, food was good and location beautiful. Bring your bikes! 😉

I spent three nights at the Estelar Paipa and I found the staff extremely courteous and helpful. They were always ready to answer any questions or requests we had. Our room was comfortable and clean with a great view of the lake. The only weak point was the background music playing all over the hotalel, consisting only of American pop music hits from the 80s and 90s, which after 3 days gets tiresome. They should combine with other music styles.

It claims to be a 5 star hotel, but it is a bit dated and it lacks some small things which is only inconvenient, but you would expect that from a 5 star hotel. For instance, bathtub is old and kinda gross to bathe in, and there are only a pair of set of towels in each room, so if you are in a triple room you need to ask for another pair of towels. There is no coffee available in the room or in the common areas, you have to order in the restaurant, and it takes a few minutes for them to bring it to you in a tea cup. You have to pay for the disposable shaving kit. As I said small things but you would expect better.

The hotel needs to clean the thermal Jacuzzi, it results disgusting to use them because the walls are slimy, and that is the result of do not clean them.

Disappointed

We went for a family trip and the Front office held our reservation for over 30 min because we did not have an ID for or 9 month old baby. In addition, they added a 19% surcharge tax fee after an all inclusive rate was prepaid using Hotels.com. The place has no life and is a brick facility with a lake view. Food was good.

Nice and comfortable place for vacation

I went with my family and friends to celebrate my nephew’s birthday at the hotel and we stayed for two nights. We didn’t say anything to the staff about my nephew’s birthday however they sent a small cake to his room to congratulate him. That was a very nice surprise for all of us. We spent a great time together and had lots of fun.

Our stay was amazing. I spent time with my family and friends at the resort and we have a great time. The food was delicious. It was my nephew’s birthday and the hotel sent a small birthday cake to his room. He was surprised, we were as well.
In conclusion, very good place to spend time with family and friends.

Nice hotel close to a lake

Beautiful place, lots of activities: mountain biking, water skiing, horseback riding, jacuzzi, swimming pool, spa. I celebrated my wedding anniversary and we were amused! Want to go back soon
