Staff are excellent !!! They kept my room extremely clean and assisted with my personal needs! The room is outdated with old and old furnitures .

I was here for a business trip and was told this was the nicest hotel in the area. The location was convenient, food wasn’t bad, and it was overall a decent experience. Initially, our room smelled like a smoking room so we asked to change and they gladly and quickly changed for us. Service here was fine and I don’t have many complaints. There are some food options down the street that were not bad.

The check deals doesn’t have anyone who speaks English. I had ask a friend to help out. Almost no one speaks dangling at the hotel. Room service order was wrong and they didn’t understand what I wanted. I could go on, but it’s pointless. The hotel is extremely beautiful and the facilities are amazing, but the service is poor. The rooms could do with better cleaning specially carpets and toilet seats.

Lovely but lacking

Although the staff was great and the rooms beautiful, the in-house restaurants were limited as was the neighborhood... It was a nice neighborhood but not a lot going on. Were there a bar or western restaurant (other than the lobby) in the hotel, we wouldn't have noticed the lacking neighborhood.

Very Disappointing.

They say it is a five star hotel. Hotel itself is a beautiful hotel. Beautiful lobby and great river view. I stayed there for a week. My room was on 20th floor and I had to go back down and change the key because kew wouldn't work. Three times ! First night, there was no shampoo. I couldn't turn off the lights few nights. Light switches worked and sometimes didn't work. Room safe didn't work. They have to fix it while I was in the room. And thick dust everywhere. Terrible !

Wish there were more staff who could speak English. Also, the breakfast buffet is okay but not great. It seems like they use leftover food next day. The food was cooked but still cold when I went to the buffet at 6:30am. (They open from 6am)

It was a really nice and beautiful hotel. I travelled with a friend and went to chimlong theme park for two days. It was a wonderful two nights in this hotel. The service is really nice. It offered us free shuttle minivan to the theme park and picked us up. But they would not wait for you when they picked you up back to the hotel, meaning you have to be on time if you want to take this minivan back to the hotel. The swimming pools are nice as well. We had great time.

Good from far, but far from good.

Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms but issues with the food in the buffet. I went and poured an apple juice and had 3 dead bugs floating inside. There were even more bugs swirling around other dishes. Service around the hotel was mediocre but I recognize it's difficult with English language barrier.

Couldn't just get coffee...the restaurant said they would charge full breakfast price!!!
Lobby bar was closed in the morning. It should be open for travelers coming in at all hours.
Decor was over the top! But the beds were very comfortable and bathtub was nice and deep!

Great hotel, services and facilities. Was there for the Canton Fair, hotel is located further out but with the free shuttle bus - not a problem. Also fantastic Cantonese restaurant, Spa and Health centers within - there was no need to leave the hotel for food or foot massage after a full day of walking around the Fair.

Decent hotel for the price

We stayed at this hotel as we were conducting business in Panyu. You stay in the apartments away from the hotel. You must take a shuttle to get back to the hotel for the restaurant. There's not much around the hotel, so it is quiet. The staff speaks very little English. I would stay there again as there aren't many options at this star level.

Nice Hotel Far away from Subway Station

The hotel is great! Don't get me wrong. The problem that I have is that they don't respect Expedia's rate for late check out. They usually charge for this 50% of the rate... but is according to "their" rent... True Story: I called the night before check out requesting late check out and they gave me a rate 50% of their "rack" rate.... so I told them that the next day in the morning I'll make my decision... so the next day at the front desk, they wanted to charge me 100% of the rate they told me by telling me that was the 50% of the rate..... Awful!! I guess you need to be careful. Also, and unfortunate.... the cigar shop was closed, although the staff said it was open, I went there 3 times during their time schedule and it was closed....
I would stay again there just because it is close to the place I work, and the water pressure is fantastic.

It's very far away from anything, but other than that it's great. Very comfortable indeed. Staff don't speak a lot of English, but unless you have a complicated problem, they are very able and happy to assist. Also, great views of the skyline.

Very nice hotel in a calm area

The hotel is really very nice. The food is terrible, extremely chinese. But if you teach them, they can manage to prepare some kind of western meals and snacks. Breakfast is ok. We stayed at apartments and they are quite small but really clean and the staff really makes an effort to make the stay very comfortable. We got a free spa coupon, that was really good... Overall I would give it a 4.5 !!

Great experience, and nice people work there. The breakfast buffet is awesome. The rooms was big and very comfortable. I only have two negatives or pieces of advice: (1) To get to the indoor pool, you have to go outdoors by the outdoor pool. Not too convenient - it should be the other way around. The pool water indoors is kept a bit too cool also - like about 25-26 C whereas 28-29 C would be better. (2) The location is beautiful, right on the river, but there is very little one can walk to easily. For that reason, they need to upgrade the in-hotel shopping options a bit.

This was my second stay at the hotel. The stay was enhanced by Sean the Excutive Supervisor and Victor the Training Manager, They both went out of their way to ensure our stay was very satisfying A amazing hotel build with incredible materials from overseas, well designed and very friendly staff. I fully recommend this hotel as a pleasure to stay in. Try the Chinese Restaurant on the ground floor, one of the best I have dined in anywhere in the world All other facilities were of exceptional class.

The stay at the Chateau Star River Hotel was excellent. Without doubt the best hotel I have stayed in in China.... Shaun the Executive Supervisor was extremely helpful as were the staff who were obliging and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who expects great meals, amazing cleanliness and a 5 star + quality hotel in all respects. I have stayed in the best rated hotels in China and overseas. The quality of the quality of the workmanship and materials used are some of the best I have seen anywhere in the world.

Amazing hotel. So clean and new even though 4 years old. Impeccably maintained. Fantastic service. Great sauna/massage for affordable treatments + the luxury of the spa. We had business in Panyu so location was very convenient. Still only 30minute cab ride into Guangzhou central. Highly recommend. Look forward to going back again.

No restaurant in hotel avaliable 15:00. They sent me in a Taxi 20min to find food, I had to pay for taxi. There is absolutely no restaurant in the surrounding i walked several km. There is nothing to do like bar or cafe.
The pool outside was closed off-season. The sauna was not working, the steam room had a strange smell. I got a room against the street, I guess if you got river it would have been nice.
You could not reach the top floor by som reason.

I also need place call more than half hour to your CS and hotel front desk! I also need goto front deck settle this question in midnight Guangzhou time! Veel luxe maar eerder op Chinezen gericht.

Het hotel beschikt over zeer mooi en recentelijk opgefriste kamers: zeer veel luxe in de kamer, prima!
Ontbijtbuffet is voor een westerse hotelgast "middelmatig" te noemen: echt op de Chinezen afgestemd...
In het restaurant spreekt het personeel geen Engels en verloopt alle communicatie via een vertaal app op hun telefoon...
Ook aan de receptie is het niet altijd gemakkelijk om iets duidelijk te maken.
Rond het hotel is er op loopafstand NIETS te beleven!
Wifi is zeer middelmatig, niet bruikbaar voor westerse zakenreizigers.

PS: ik had een erg onaangename verrassing bij aankomst: van de 4kamers in mijn reservatie waren er maar 3 door het hotel gekend.
Blijkbaar was mijn kamer om een onbekende reden door Hotels.com geannuleerd.
Ik heb dit aan Hotels.com gemeld (zonet via de hotels.com website) en wacht nog op een antwoord.
Hopelijk wordt dit probleem correct opgelost!
