The room was clean and sufficient but definitely run down and could use some fixing up and repair. Sliding door did not lock and weather stripping was hanging down. No art on the walls, but lots of \"patched\" areas were noticeable. There is no closet for hanging clothes and no mirror in the room so only mirror is in the bathroom. Also, bathroom door is frosted glass that offers very little privacy. Shower was very nice and AC worked really well.

I’ve stayed here before a few times and in different rooms each visit. I’ve discovered that each stay was different based on the room. The hotel exterior looks good, well maintained and my other reviews were based on the other rooms. This time my room was basic and cheaper which really needed a renovation. Everything is outdated in that room.
Also front desk staff poorly speak English (located in highly popular tourist area) I had to use translator to ask simple questions to give me a new garbage bag

They make you lay some additional taxes? So not sure how much accurate is Expedia information. The toilet had some leaks that they couldn’t fix neither offer an alternative solution. They have loud music at the bar/pool from 6am to 11pm, so if you’re staying by the pool, good luck! Poor information for tourists, they didn’t know or they didn’t care. The pool was nice, food, they have some buffet but it is not worth the price, you can get better food around the area for half the price, they have good drinks tho. I believe you can find better places for the same price or even better. I would say that the good thing is the location, across from the ferry that takes you to the Islas mujeres, the bus passes in front to visit other beaches, walking distance to one of the beaches (langosta).

This is not a luxury hotel however for the Money this is a great place. The staff is amazing. The room is nice though there’s no phone in the room, but that doesn’t bother me because I use my cell phone while traveling. There are restaurants nearby that are great. They have an amazing pool on site. I selected the buffet breakfast which was nothing fancy, but it was everything I needed. I would definitely stay at this location again, conveniently located right across from the ferries that go over to Ilsa Mujeres and not too far into the hotel zone that you feel like you’re driving forever to get there highly recommend

Upon arrival, the check-in experience was not the warmest. The gentleman at the front desk (wearing glasses, around 40–50 years old) came across as quite dry and unwelcoming, and communication was a bit difficult as he spoke very little English. As a solo traveler, first impressions matter, so this felt a bit uncomfortable.

However, shortly after, a lovely staff member from the bar offered me a hibiscus welcome drink, and she was friendly and kind, which definitely improved my first impression.

The rest of my stay was pleasant. The room had a beautiful view overlooking the pool and parts of the surrounding area on the 9th floor, which I really enjoyed. The hotel is in a convenient location — within walking distance to Playa Tortugas and Playa Langosta, making it easy to explore and enjoy the beach.

Keep in mind that basic amenities such as toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided; only body lotion and shampoo were available plus towels. There is a mini fridge too but it was so noisy I didn’t even bother to turn it on. I used a cooler for my drinks.

Overall, it’s a budget-friendly, relaxed place to stay — nothing luxurious, but comfortable and chill. The poolside bar is a nice bonus.

Wouldn’t recommend!! came here with my cousin for 2 nights due to our flight being canceled. The hotel lobby and pool is simple a catfish to cover up for the extremely poorly kept rooms. On top of that there’s no accessible microwave which rubbed me the wrong way. Moreover the showers were Moldy and the toilet was full of rust. 1 security guard was overly touchy and off putting, cherry on the to electrical appliances shut down the next day from 7am to a time I forgot, also we kept getting bit by idek what on the beds…overall just don’t stay here save yourself the hassle.

Great affordable option for hotels in the area. The pool was fun and had food and drinks available beside the water. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and there is a convenience store nearby the lobby that had many essentials, snacks, drinks, and a few souvenirs. The only issue we ran into during our stay was the room selection. We had the top floor on the 10th story which had an amazing view, but the wifi connection was non existant for us.

. We booked a two-night stay, which unfortunately turned out to be a big mistake.

We arrived around 6:00 p.m. as a family of five (myself, my husband, and our three children). That evening, our youngest child became ill and vomited in the room. When we contacted the front desk for extra sheets and basic cleaning supplies to change the linens, the response was completely unaccommodating. No cleaning products were provided, and we were not offered any meaningful assistance during what was already a stressful situation with a sick child.

To make matters worse, the toilet became plugged. Maintenance arrived wearing outdoor boots, aggressively plunged the toilet, and then left without cleaning or sanitizing the bathroom afterward. When I again requested sanitary cleaning products, I was told none were available.

The lack of basic hygiene support, cleanliness, and empathy was shocking — especially for a hotel accommodating families. The situation was unsanitary, uncomfortable, and entirely inappropriate. This experience fell far below acceptable hospitality standards, and we would not recommend staying here.

Overall, not a bad place for the price! Unfortunately there is no easy beach access as all the resorts across the road are strict about not letting people through. The breakfast is not great, but has a few decent options. The pool area does not look like the pictures, but was still nice. It felt very safe and clean.

Hotel wasn’t that great. I only stayed 1 night and decided to leave and go to another one the next morning. They started doing construction on the building and banging on walls at 8am. That was definitely something they should’ve waited til afternoon to do when guests are more than likely to be awake already and out of their rooms. On the flip side, the room was only $60, so you get what you pay for basically.

This hotel was super run down and there was no hot water and WiFi was terrible. This hotel was also under construction so lots of loud noises early in the morning. We didn’t have access to water for an hour due to construction. Honest opinion not worth the stay. The only plus side was the restaurant staff was super awesome and had good breakfast food and were super kind. I payed for inclusive breakfast and they didn’t add that on. The pictures don’t match the quality of the rooms so don’t be fooled. Also another plus side was it’s within walking distance of the beach. Also the resturant to the left of the front of building was super delicious. Hotel staff came to our door after 2 minutes past 12:00 telling us to leave when they said our checkout time was 3:00pm. It’s worth your while to stay at an all inclusive nicer hotel on the beach front. With how much we spent on breakfast every day and meals throughout our trip it equaled the same.

The staff is very kind, though some speak broken English. I would recommend downloading a google translate package on your phone (download Spanish and English) so that you can translate if necessary. Downside is that the wifi is atrocious in some rooms. You’ll likely need to roam if you want to stay connected. Overall, great stay

This was our first time staying at Calypso Hotel Cancun. We normally stay at another accommodation nearby, but they were booked for the night we needed. Calypso exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were super friendly. The service was over-the-top. Victor at La Lupe was the best and guided our evening food choices. Cecelia was our breakfast concierge. The food was delicious, again, exceeding our expectations. The room was spacious and clean and QUIET! The pool seemed clean and the pool area was lovely and well maintained. The only suggestions: it would be nice to have a mini-fridge in the room. We had some cold food we had to try to keep chilled with a bag of ice in the sink. Also, it would be great to have a rubber cover over the shower drain/floor drain to help keep down the inevitable sewer gas smell that is prevalent in many places in Cancun. But honestly, there were many places where Calypso shined - so much so, it is our new \"go-to\" for a few nights off the grid.

Outstanding Pool and Quiet Location

We were impressed with the pool area - large, clean, beautifully landscaped. Not the usual with lounge chairs circling the pool. There was a wading area with water loungers, sections separated with landscape for 2, 4 or more people, and a whirlpool. A standard pool menu, yet the Long Island Tea was delicious. We arrived early and stayed late at a charge of $5.00 per hour. Staff was available to help adjust the water and room temperature. Location was near different price range restaurants, the beach and the Xcaret Embarcadero with the Cancun Tower (a must experience) and Ferry to Isla Mujeres.

While the staff and the common area is wonderful certain things are not good.

In room - towels are not good at all, sheets are not nice. Sinks are broke , rusted and cracked. Cleats doors are missing knobs, huge flood lights aiming at guests rooms, no cleaning service everyday, toiletries are very poor quality. Not easy to transition into another room for new booking. Noisy and dirty balcony.

The room was dirty and had a terrible smell. Despite requesting an air freshener, the staff never provided one. After I shared my concerns, they falsely accused me of staining their pillow and demanded $20, threatening to call the police if I refused. Completely unprofessional—do not stay here.
Not happy with Expedia too. How come they select a hotel like this.

Bell man was rude to my family when they came over to drop off some groceries since we needed to prepare for hurricane Beryl. The room didn’t even have a coffee pot. No microwave or mini fridge or even an ice bucket. The tiny TV set only had a few working channels and was sitting lopsided on the wall. The one working pool was mold infested and the other was a hole in the ground under construction. Oh they charged me an additional fee for what they claimed were state taxes.

We technically did not stay the night there. I had an original booking at a different hotel, but they didn't have a pool, so a booked this one last minute. when we arrived, Half of the pool area was under construction. when we got to our room, we were disappointed. It was small, beds and pillows sucked, no fridge or microwave, (we have kids). patio was ridiculous. Just overall a bad look overall, so we checked out and went to our original booking. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
