Wonderful location with good ambience. Pool was great on a hot day after driving. Room AC did not work and had to get a maintenance person to fix. Dinner was very mediocre, but breakfast was good. We had a lot of ants in our room which was an annoyance.

As there were not any comparable option in Kairouan, the Kasbah met our needs. The property was beautiful, clean, safe, and the state were truly kind and professional. The hotel is somewhat centrally located that you can walk to the medina, the grand mosque, the tomb of Sahbee. However, dining options you needed to walk further. There’s nice dining, however, it’s mostly local restaurants that are typically for takeaway.

Thought the hotel mentions air conditioning in the details of the amenities, make sure you ask for it in advance and make sure upon arrival they provide you with a room that has air conditioning that you can control. In the off season the main air conditioning is off, only a fan is blowing through the HVAC. We visited in the middle of May, over 40 degrees celcius and air conditioning was important to have.

The breakfast was included which was pretty much your typical morning cute buffet. They had an espresso machine, though I prefer freshly brewed coffee. The restaurant was extremely warm which made it uncomfortable to enjoy the breakfast, but we managed.

We have been choosing small properties for our travels because the service is much more catered. Though we enjoyed meeting all the staff who were always there when we looked for them Moheeb and Sadek… everyone else did their job well. But we didn’t sense anyone was going above and beyond. It’s fine as it’s not a complaint. It just helps when it comes to tipping to want that unique experience with staff.

Historic building beautifully renovated about 20 years ago. Staff is very courteous. There are some signs of ‘aging’ but it can be forgiven. The dining room often smells of fried food. The smaller restaurant is better. Internet is limited, but free. Very good parking.

This place blew my mind! Staying in the Casbah was like stepping into a history book, but with a pool and bar. The rooms were comfortable, the location great and the included breakfast buffet a great way to start the day. Pretty good value too. My one complaint was, I felt, the staff didn’t go out of their way to help organize some day trips surrounding Kairouan that I was looking forward to. Other than that, I really enjoyed my time here!

**Serious Security Concerns at a 5-Star Hotel in Kairouan, Tunisia**

During our stay at this 5-star hotel in Kairouan, my friends and I—four of us in total—had a deeply unsettling experience. We were staying in two rooms, and all four of us discovered that a significant portion of the cash in our handbags had gone missing, including both Tunisian dinars and euros. The only time this could have happened was while we were out for dinner or when some of us were taking turns at the spa, as we were in the rooms the rest of the time.

We reported the incident to the front desk, and they promised to investigate by checking CCTV footage and key card access logs. The next morning, a different front desk staff member returned the missing money to us. However, when we asked how, when, and by whom it had been found, we were given the vague response: “I don’t know. A guest threw the money out of the room.”

This response left us feeling extremely suspicious. It gave the impression that the hotel was attempting to quietly resolve the issue, suggesting possible internal theft. We were alarmed by how easily someone could enter and exit our rooms without us knowing, its really unsafe!

Amazing place to stay. Rooms are huge and the decor is very special. The bathroom was roomy and the toilet separate. The only downsides were a rather inefficient and noisy airconditioning unit and the restaurant food is just ok. Neither of these detracted from a great experience staying here.

Very nice rooms, with a balcony. Staff were friendly and served us a last minute dinner buffet. Pool area was maintained and cleaned up though the few sun beds that there were seemed old and falling apart. Didn’t have chance to swim. Spa was excellent and good value for money.

Absolutely amazing stay, in an old medieval khalif castle (around fifteen century), modern renovated. Rooms a little smaller, but wonderfully decorated, also all public spaces, hallways and reception. Do not miss the tour of the museum, near the outside restaurant, it is absolutely amazing (sorry for repeating myself).

We greatly enjoyed our stay in the old British Embassy with its beautifully decorated doors and rooms.
It felt a bit daunting on arrival at night in our hire car, but with thé help of the night porter I squeezed the car through the bollards and under thé triumphal
arch to poark outside front door

Thé following day the square came to life with fountains, brightly coloured shops and crowds of people. Breakfast was good sitting out under the awnings on the square.

La Kasbah was a perfectly fine accommodation in Kairouan. It's a large, older hotel with some charm. Dinner buffet (extra charge) was just so-so for us vegetarians. Staff unfortunately seemed to have no idea which of the dishes on offer were meat-free. Breakfast (included in our rate) was better, but still has room for improvement. Bed was comfortable and shower good. Excellent location for exploration of the medina/souk.

I’m writing this comment while I’m freezing in my room. The heater is terrible and I keep switching it on/off because it only works at 30 deg Cels as they said.
I checked in here yesterday. After staying in 3 different 5 stars hotels in Tunis. I can say that the Staff here is not that friendly at the reception.
Yesterday I called to ask for a box of Kleenex “tissues” because I have a 10 months old baby and I’m really in need for the tissues in the room. They said they don’t offer that and the guest should buy it himself! ….. ok!!!!! But I’m staying in a 5 star hotel, how come I bring my own stuff??!!!! This is not B&B!
Second in the same call, I asked for a small empty bowl, waited for 20 mins and it never came. My husband went to the kitchen to bring me one because again I'm in need for that for the baby.
Now it’s a low season as Tunis has not opened the tourists visa yet. So I’m considering this as a bad experience unfortunately.
Also please note that the price is the most expensive comparing to the other known 5 stars hotels here in Tunis. You are paying for a kind of nice room but for zero services.
The only good thing so far is the location of the hotel.

The place to stay in Kairouan

Well located in walking distance of the medina and grand mosque of Kairouan, this is a lovely hotel, with rooms tastefully furnished. Attention to a few small details would help: the in-room safe was inoperable, there could be more power outlets in the rooms, coffee provided as well as tea. Wi-fi worked well. The main criticism is of breakfast: much of the food is cold and/or of mediocre quality. A few improvements to the breakfast offering would make a big difference.

Kairouan hideaway

The Kasbah is contained within the old Kasbah fort, just outside the walled town of Kairouan. The inside has been totally transformed with rooms overlooking a central courtyard and pool. Quiet and relaxing. In April, it seemed that the only visitors were people on business, the occasional bus of tourists and very few other tourists. It is clean and tidy. Service was excellent. There were nice touches such a providing a glass of lemon juice & a sticky cake on arrival, and a bowl of fruit in the room.
However, there are silly things that need to be fixed for a hotel with high aspirations. The shower head in my room needed to be fixed. It seemed to me that the bread for breakfast was not fresh (at 7am). There were other small irritants.

This is a beautiful hotel and there is a wonderful pool. There is not a lot of choice in town, so this is a high price for many travelers. But if you get the breakfast and dinner included the price is not so bad, given the options.

A pleasant surprise

Not many options in Kairouan but fortunately this is a good one. Ideal location next to the medina and near the Great Mosque and the hotel and grounds were a rubbish-free oasis relative to most of the neighbourhood. Half board option was good value. Service could have been more friendly and attentive.

This is a nice hotel, although the rooms are a little dated. Kairouan is a rather poor city and as such the tourist options are limited. The Kasbah could improve its service by offering tours of the surrounding areas. The common areas of the reception, pool, etc, are very nice. The in-hotel 'souk' isn't bad, either, with very reasonable prices and no hard sell.

Outside, people are desperate for money, so if anyone approaches you saying they will take you to a Berber festival, etc, they will take you to a rug shop, where you can expect a hard sell.

Très bon séjour dans cet hôtel idéalement situé à 2 pas de la grande mosquée et de la médina , idéal pour visiter Kairouan. Personnel accueillant et disponible . Entrée et parking pratique et sécurisés .

J'ai bien aimé le lieu, l'extérieur est très impressionnant. L'accueil était cependant un peu froid.
Mais la piscine est très belle.
Je n'ai pas aimé le fait de ne pas nous avoir prévenu de l'avènement d'un mariage le 2e jour de notre séjour. La piscine n'était pas accessible alors que nous étions rentrées de notre journée avec l'intention d'en profiter. À la réception, on m a répondu qu'on ne pouvait pas se baigner en raison de la préparation du mariage et que n'avions qu'à nous baigner le lendemain. Inacceptable.
La moindre des choses aurait été de nous prévenir par respect pour le client.

Certamente un hotel storico di impatto caratteristico, camera e bagno grandi; colazione perfetta; personale cordiale. Piscina super. Location super.
Ma per un 5star certe cose non devono accadere :
1- 16 motociclette hanno il permesso di parcheggiare nel perimetro della fontana di ingresso quando c’è lo spazio limitrofo per farlo.
2- in camera le lenzuola, il piumino e l’imbottitura dei cuscini sono scadenti. Il terrazzino ha il pavimento che perde sabbia e ghiaia che viene portato inevitabilmente in camera. Mancano i caratteristici balconi in legno ombreggianti alla nostra camera.
3- Ma la cosa peggiore è il pavimento lastricato con i tavolini e sedie attorno alla piscina : gli uccelli fanno gli escrementi (guano) che non viene pulito dagli addetti anche se fatto notare; anche qualche tavolino e sedie è sempre lasciato sporco. Squallidi sono alcuni ombrelloni che non si aprono completamente.
QUESTO PER UN 5STAR NON È AMMESSO!

Séjour très agréable, l’hôtel est beau et les prestations de qualité. Possibilité de réserver un massage pour le jour même. Petit déjeuner très bien. Le seul bémol commun malheureusement a beaucoup d’hôtels en Tunisie. Le salon d’accueil et le bar sont fumeurs.

Nous n'y retournerons jamais ! C'est l'hôtel le plus cher que nous ayons réservé durant notre séjour, pensant se faire un plaisir, et le plus décevant. On se demande vraiment comment les 5 étoiles ont pu être attribuées. Nous avions séjourné dans d'autres hôtels supers et moins chers. Décoration vieillotte, accueil sommaire, pas de notice d'utilisation du coffre, cafard dans la salle de bains. Quant au repas, sous forme de buffet, rien d'original. Nous avons mangé des lasagnes tièdes et une viande hachée indéfinissable très fine et très cuite, tiède aussi. Ne vaut vraiment pas le prix du repas. Quand nous avons signalé à la réception la présence du cafard photographié, aucune excuse ni confusion exprimée. Mauvaise foi quant aux commentaires sur le restaurant.

Nous sommes restés 2 nuits. L'hôtel est propre et le lit confortable (king size).
La piscine est très agréable même si l'on ne comprend vraiment pas pourquoi elle est nettoyée entre 8h et 10h le matin (il serait vraiment super de pouvoir en profiter avant 10h,soit avant qu'il ne fasse trop chaud).

Cet hôtel est resté figé dans les années 80/90 ! La climatisation est trop forte sans réglages possibles, bruyante et face au lit.
Le service est vraiment trop guindé (serveur avec noeud papillon qui pourrait être plus détendu et agréable). La déco et les équipements donnent vraiment l'impression de ne pas avoir bougé depuis 30 ans, comme la musique le soir près de la piscine (curieuses reprises de chansons populaires en flûte de paon...! ).
Le petit déjeuner n'est pas génial, buffet à volonté mais le choix est assez mauvais.
Un coup de modernité et de simplicité rendrait cet hôtel bien plus sympa

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, leider wurde unser Erlebnis durch ein insgesamt eher NICHT-kundenorientiertes Personal und vor allem durch eine bestimmte Person in der Rezeption extrem schlecht: wir hatten 3 Zimmer für 5 Personen gebucht und an einem Abend war eine zusätzliche Freundin meiner Frau für 30 Minuten unangekündigt in einem der Zimmer zu Gast. Der Rezeptionist ist komplett ausgerastet, wollte gleich die Polizei rufen und hatte sich dazu auch noch frauenfeindlich geäussert, als er in der Rezeption darauf aufmerksam gemacht worden ist, dass er dort nicht rauchen dürfe. Ich durfte mich also dann um 2 Uhr nachts mit ihm darüber streiten, dass er meiner Frau gegenüber solche frauenfeindliche Äusserungen und physisch drohende Gesten unterlassen solle. Er hatte sich aber auch mir gegenüber als total uneinsichtig und stinkfrech gezeigt. SO ETWAS HABE ICH NOCH NIE AUCH NUR ANNÄHERND ERLEBT. Das Frühstück war 2 mal gut und vielfältig, an einem Morgen gab es aber kein Buffet, sondern nur vorgefertigte Teller mit Käse, Eier etc - also nicht wirklich 5 Sterne. Pool zwar vorhanden und schön, durfte aber auch nicht benutzt werden...

Tres beau bâtiment intérieur comme extérieur, belle terrasse avec jolie piscine. Trop froide à la mi-novembre et nous n'avons appris que sur place que le spa hammam était fermé depuis la crise sanitaire 😥

Chambres spacieuses, salle d'eau correcte produits d'accueil peignoirs bien.Par contre, porte de wc grinçante.

Très grand lit au confort sommaire. Énormément de poussières en dessous.

Petit déjeuner salé ou sucré : bien.

Repas du soir 11€ par chambre (soit 2 personnes) si réservé sur le site en 1/2 pension alors que le prix passe à 17€ par personne si commandé en supplément. Ce tarif est prohibitif pour la qualité.

Quand au personnel, excellent accueil de chacun. Serviabilité, politesse et sourires toujours au rendez vous.

Pas à la hauteur de ses prétentions

Chambre, architecture générale et personnel très bien.
C'est autre chose pour la qualité de la nourriture. Très mediocre pour un établissement qui se veut etre un 5 étoiles... à noter que si vous n'avez pas pris le buffet du soir dans votre réservation, il vous sera facturé un prix exagéré pour une pietre qualité.

Aucune climatisation dans le hall de l’hôtel où au bar ou au petit déjeuner.
Ce qui est proposé au petit déjeuner est largement insuffisant : pas de jus de fruit presse un croissant un pain au chocolat nous avons été déçu !
Point positif : la piscine et le personnel !

La Kasbah is a beautiful hotel complex in the historic city of Kairouan. Just a few minutes to the historic Grand Mosque, the first mosque built in North Africa. And otherwise the many sights of the city, medina, souks, etc.. The oriental café in the hotel is a highlight. Unfortunately I was only there for one night and would have liked to have stayed longer. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast buffet as well as the dinner buffet with desserts are plentiful. But I would have liked to see vegetarian warm dishes. However, we know that a lot of meat is eaten in Tunisia. My room, especially the bathroom, needs some updating. Overall, though, the rooms are clean and attractive. I will keep coming back to this hotel whenever I'm in the area.

El hotel es un palacio en la muralla bastante impresionante muy bien ubicado.
Reservamos una junior suite excesivamente cara. Nos dieron la que creo debía ser la peor habitación del hotel, con dos ventanas que daban a un muro y por las otras dos se podía ver algo del jardín y piscina. El hotel estaba casi vacío.

Das Hotel La Kasbah ist wirklich ein wunderschönes Hotel in einer ganz tollen Lage. Unser Zimmer war sehr gemütlich und sauber. Leider war die Flasche Wasser im Zimmer nicht gratis. Das Personal fast immer freundlich.
Der Pool , den wir ganz für uns alleine hatte wunderbar erfrischend. Die Tische und Liegen waren aber extrem verdreckt, wahrscheinlich wurde wegen uns 2 Gästen nicht extra sauber gemacht,
denn wegen Corona war das Hotel fast leer und andere Gäste sahen wir gar nicht. Da kann man dann auch kein Frühstücksbüffet erwarten. Doch was wir bekommen haben, habe ich in einem 5 Sterne Hotel dann doch nicht erwartet: Eine halbe Tasse Tee, ein kleines Joghurt, etwas Brot, ein Schälchen Margarine, ein Päckchen Schmelzkäse , Honig und 3 Datteln. Weder ein Glas Saft noch Obst oder ein paar Tomaten. Auch hatten wir das Gefühl dass wir dem Küchenpersonal extrem Arbeit gemacht haben - schade. Gerne würde ich hier wieder übernachten aber erst wenn der normale Hotelbetrieb - hoffentlich bald - wieder läuft.

メディナまで歩いてすぐの便利な立地でした。プールも含めて全体の雰囲気は良く、チュニジアの伝統的なデザインの中で優雅な気分に浸れます。ミニバーの水、炭酸飲料は無料でした。部屋のバルコニー（屋内）に洗濯物を干せるバーがあって使い勝手がよく、一晩でしっかり乾いたので便利でした。8月に滞在したためか、エアコンの効きが悪かったのは残念でしたが、これはこのホテルに限ったことではなく・・・

Magnifique hôtel à la direction un peu faible

Magnifique hôtel, décoration très soignée, restauration moyenne et service peu aimable.
Piscine fermée pendant les 2 nuits de notre séjour pour cause d’infection bactérienne ... sous 45 degrés grosse contrariété de ne pas pouvoir s’y rafraîchir. Gestion de notre mécontentement peu professionnelle de la part du directeur « cela arrive dans tous les hôtels du monde » qui s’est soldé par une remise de 50 % sur nos extras.
Heureusement les managers passent et la magie des lieux demeurent ....
