This place is amazing. If you are looking for something unique with over 500 years of history then this is the place. The dining rooms are covered in pictures from the poems of Jean de la Fontaine, because why not. The staff are also really friendly.

Beautiful property in need of attention

The property itself and the ruins were a sight to be seen.
It appears as though efforts are being exuded to improve the lodging however the toilet didn’t flush so we requested to change rooms the second night. Internet was down, pool was dirty, grounds unkept. There is no air conditioning, only a fan provided. Extremely quiet due to the remote location. Staff were as helpful as possible.

My son and I were on a 10-day father-son trip through the Champagne, Alsace and Western Germany regions. I had been yo Chateau de Fere some 30 years ago and had kept a highly memorable souvenir of my stay there then. This time, it was even better as Emma welcomed us as if we were family. This is a gorgeous property located within 1.25 hours from CDG airport. We will be here again...in this lifetime! Thanks Emma!

Can not fault the staff or the premises.
Our room was perfect, the food in the restaurant was amazing. My only feedback was the damp smell in the halls but we couldn't smell it in our room or the restaurant. The town itself is very old and not much happening. No cafes or restaurants. Just a pub and a bakery.

The location includes 13th century ruins, you will get great photos. The staff was professional, informative, accommodating and happy. The restaurant has delicious authentic cuisine at a reasonable price. The room was large and included bath, separate shower, coffee maker and mini fridge. The grounds are well maintained. I highly recommend staying here.

We arrived at 4pm and have to wait one hour for our room. What a mistake to reserve dinner at the restaurant! After one and half hour, the starter has not yet arrived. We complained but to no avail.

It's a nice enough place, but at this price, we expected better attention to detail. There were lightbulbs out in the bathroom, shower attachment in the bath didn't work. And we had trouble locking the door to our room. More of the staff didn't speak English than did.

One night stay. Upgraded to impressive, large room looking over swimming pool to the fields beyond. No water at all to wash with. No offer of anything at all to compensate. Had a swim instead. Enjoyed a reasonable, but not good enough for the price, 4-course meal. The staff were not friendly. They weren't rude either, just cold. This hotel could be so much better.

Lovely chateau an hour from Epernay and Reims

The chateau is absolutely charming and we had a lovely view from our room of the castle ruins. The area is beautiful and serene, but there are no nearby dining options except for the chateau. We had the chateau 4 course menu on our 2nd night and the food was very good, but the service was slow and we sat with empty glasses and plates for 45 minutes before anyone came by to check on us. Besides that our stay was lovely.

Expensive without value for money

The De Luxe room was like staying in your Grandma's spare room, it was tired, shabby, dated. But wait, granny does have a lovely jacuzzi tub in the bathroom! Fantastic! Let's fill it .. 30 mins later - no water pressure ! it covers the jets - BUT you press the button and no bubbles, you find it does not work.. Oh granny why so shabby ! Why is the wall paper torn by suitcases and not repaired, what lovely drab colours you have grandma and lovely ancient arm chairs ! Art on the wall - lovely if you are granny .. Granny why no english TV? Why Leaking, running, stained toilet with no repair ?? Shutters on the Windows, lovely, when did they get painted and repaired ?? .. When granny was young and grandad was alive is my guess .. Just after liberation maybe !
BUT WAIT HERE IS THE BEST.. NO AIR CON IN THE HOTEL ANYWHERE!! That may work in Blighty - but we are in grape growing country, and they need heat to grow .. Hot as Hot can be in the roof of the hotel.. But a massive fan is provided, lucky you if you can sleep with the noise from something of an equal decibel to a B52 propellor, and an air flow over your body of a Maclaren aerodynamic test tunnel. You can always turn it off and sweat. The staff are lovely though, genuinely they are so nice.The meal was nice- limited menu, expensive, but very nice. .. Cannot fault it for good taste. All in all a sad visit, I feel ripped off, and had virtually no sleep, courtesy of my aircraft wing fan !!

Great opportunity to stay in a castle. Restaurant was good but very expensive. Nothing else close by to eat. That said it was a good experience. Albeit, it was a bit musty and stuffy- I guess that's how castles were. Staff was excellent. Restaurant staff was friendly. Bathrooms nice with rainwater shower head and bathtub type shower. Ruins were fun to walk through.

A real find in the Champagne region

A charming find for a two night stay in the Champagne region. Staff are attentive, and very keen to help. Food was great, as were the Maitre d' and the sommelier - thanks Patrice and Benoit (apologies if I have your names wrong!). Our only gripe was that the jacuzzi bath didn't work (we did mention it on the first night). Our room was lovely but with the eaves windows, it meant you didn't get to see all of the wonderful view. David on checkout was charming and it is clear that this Chateau is loved. We very much hope to return. Thank you.

Fabulous setting & interior, & very good staff. Michelin restaurant of good standard but our top-price menu gastronomique (90€) not outstanding. Choice on lesser menu too limited & not well balanced (both meat starter & main course duck). 2 mysterious glasses of champagne arrived unordered - but later charged (taken off next morning). Bedroom specifications apparently luxurious but quite impractical: eg rolltop bath with shower above - with no way of stopping water flow down the back.

A Chateau Stay Etched in our Memory

This was my daughters 16th birthday gift to stay in a chateaux. It was beyond our expectations. As soon as we arrived Phillip was there making us feel so comfortable . After a quick check in he showed us our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom split level apartment with views of the pool and countryside. We sat on the patio before dinner with champagne flavored with violet. The dining accommodations were beautiful and the menu fresh and exciting. I asked the sommelier to pair the wines to our courses and he did a fine job. Take advantage of all the amenities. The caste ruins, pool, spa, clay tennis court and fine dining are a lot to take in so I recommend a stay of a min. of 2 nights. I took a nice run around the estate and came across trails as well. Sleeping was wonderful with the comfortable bed. My daughter will remember her 16th birthday always.
The chateau is less than 1 1/2 hr from CDG.

After Disney we wanted something a little different. Wow! Service was fantastic, scenery breathtaking and then there was dinner with, of course, the obligatory glass or two of the house champagne. I have already recommended that my brother and his wife accompany us next time!

An amazing hotel in an amazing location.
Imagine you are in the Middle of the Champagne region in France, you are in a Chateau, in a room like you have seen on magazines, with nice colours scheme, thick carpet, comfy beds, trendy integrated bathroom with all the goodies. You open the heavy curtains, and in front of you is a vast country landscape with the most romantic ruins on the side of the park. Now, open your eyes, get the fluffy bathrobe and go to the sauna to have a massage... If you don't find me there, it means I am at the restaurant savouring some delicacy prepared by the chef.

Gorgeous, unique, utterly charming, & a bit stinky

This hotel is a unique experience. Rooms are in an old château built next to the crumbling remains of an even older château. We arrived at sunset while peach-colored rabbits nibbled on the lawn. A very charming gentleman who spoke perfect English showed us our room, a huge junior suite with a view of the ruins.

We dined in the hotel restaurant, a lovely room with a view of the countryside. Sunset that night, at about 9:30, was a spectacular sight. Dinner was not so spectacular, though. The hotel permits children in the dining room, and unfortunately, one group included a screaming infant and two ambulatory children whose parents let them leave their seats and run between the tables. We were shocked not only by the rude parents, but that the hotel allowed this behavior, since the restaurant takes itself very seriously and is rather pricey. But, after dinner, we walked through the ruins by moonlight, and that made up for the obnoxious children.

The hotel staff is lovely and accommodating. They met our every requirement cheerfully, exceeding our expectations. When we asked for help to rectify a problem with a Reims restaurant bill, the handsome young man at the front desk took over and took care of it.

The stinky - there is a faint scent throughout the hotel of faulty plumbing. It is an ancient building and it doesn't have modern pipes. If plumbing is what you want, stay at a hotel in the airport. But if you're looking for a uniquely charming experience, come here!

Wonderful chateau

Wonderful building, upgraded to suite - fantastic. Castle ruins in the grounds are amazing. Pool was empty, but would be great to sit around in the summer. Bar is very small, but dining rooms are lovely. Waiting Staff were professional although a little slow. Food was good but expensive/limited menu to dine every night in the restaurant (and only alternative unless you leave hotel). A wonderful experience for a special occasion or a good deal.

The chateau and grounds were beautiful with the ruins of the original chateau as a spectacular backdrop. The restaurant and staff were very formal, and the food and wine were expensive but good. Our bedroom was a bit disappointing compared to the quality of the hotel itself, particularly the bathroom that was very old fashioned and in need of updating.

I fully expected this Hotel and my stay to cost a lot of money, and it is fair to say if you travel to this part of France you expect to pay a premium.

Unfortunately i do not believe that the service lived upto the prices paid. We had a very good weekend but felt at the end of it that we had paid over the top.

Très beau château mis en valeur au niveau des chambres, du restaurant et de la terrasse.
Par contre le coin piscine pourrait être mieux exploité, le bar près de la piscine n’est pas ouvert, pas assez de place pour tous les clients, personne ne vient enlever les serviettes sales laissées par les clients, beaucoup de fiantes d’oiseaux dans l’eau…
Au niveau service c’est à revoir, une soirée privée a été organisée sur la même terrasse que pour les clients…le service restauration a été horrible pour les clients car manque de personnel…musique de la soirée privée envahissante…
Clairement aucune préparation et organisation pour gérer le restaurant et la soirée privée, vraiment amateurisme. Inacceptable pour un 4 étoiles.
Aucun geste pour le désagrément… très déçue car aucune anticipation
C’est dommage car le lieu est beau et on y vient pour se ressourcer mais la le week-end a été un flop total.

C’est un endroit idyllique un ancien château magnifique assez bien restauré avec une équipe professionnelle et sympathique
En ce qui concerne la table tous les jours le même menu donc peu de choix et on a eu une attente assez conséquente (1:30 avant l’entrée) pour un montant tout aussi conséquent
Sans geste commercial dommage car nous avons adoré l’endroit les jardins les chambres et la gentillesse du personnel. La route du Champagne est tout près et on peut se rendre à Épernay par des petites routes à travers les vignes magnifiques

Er had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely beautiful and very convenient. There were plenty of parking options available, which made everything so much easier.

One of the best parts for me was how dog-friendly the hotel is. From the moment we arrived, our dog was warmly welcomed — she even got tasty treats at check-in! It was such a lovely touch.

The staff were outstanding — friendly, helpful, and always smiling. The service across the board was excellent. We especially appreciated the warm welcome at the reception and the attentive service throughout our stay. The nice guy in Restaurant prepared chandle night dinner with champagne for us!

We chose to have breakfast in our room, and it was a great experience. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. Their attention to detail really stood out.

Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!

Aspecto viejuno y anticuado de las instalaciones; falta de opciones en una habitación cinco estrellas (secador de pelo). Restaurante con menú cerrado, sin carta abierta y sin opciones para niños; desayuno igual al de uno de cuatro la noche anterior. Alrededores espectaculares, entorno precioso y aspecto exterior del edificio imponente, pero el interior peca de muchos defectos, ya descritos.

Nous avons passé un séjour vraiment agréable dans cet hôtel magnifique, un lieu parfait pour profiter de l’automne et de ses belles couleurs.

Le personnel est chaleureux et toujours prêt à aider. Un grand merci à Olivier et Sophie, qui ont su répondre à nos besoins avec gentillesse et efficacité. Olivier nous a même raconté l’histoire de l’hôtel, ce qui a rendu notre expérience encore plus spéciale.

Nous sommes impatients de revenir, au printemps ou en été, pour redécouvrir cet endroit !

Le cadre est fantastique et le personnel aux petits soins.
Cependant certains services ne sont pas à la hauteur d’un 5*, ce qui est dommage car le lieu est vraiment splendide: bar de la piscine fermé un we de 15 août, papier peint qui se décolle au spa, chasse d’eau qui fuit dans notre chambre, et surtout la restauration n’est pas à la hauteur.
Nous avons attendu 40 minutes pour un apéritif, et sommes sortis de table en ayant faim malgré un entrée/plat/dessert
Le repas était qualitatif mais les portions sont ridiculement petites, surtout compte tenu des tarifs affichés.
