I really liked this place, despite some eccentricities. Estrella del Norte is run by a few generations of a Canarian family, and feels like a family-run establishment. The building is somewhat dated, but boasts fantastic views both ways, of the sea and nearby Teide volcano. They keep it spotlessly clean, and are very welcoming.

I stayed in what they called the Honeymoon Suite, top floor. My room had balconies on both sides. One of the eccentricities was a hot tub in the room that also served as the kitchen and living room. This isn't a criticism; just an observation.

I was ill for the first part of my stay, and extended my stay twice. The owners were very accommodating of me, and they earned my gratitude. They also provided, free of charge, a litterbox for my cat, who travels everywhere with me.

The hotel is on a block that serves as a de facto resort compound. It's a little bit uphill from the central area of Icod, but is self-contained. The reception has a small shop with necessities like snacks and soft drinks and booze. Just around the corner, on the same block, there is a full-service restaurant (Los Faroles). I'm not sure if it's affiliated with the hotel, but I ate a lot of my meals there. They serve massive portions of Canarian food at excellent prices, and are one of the few places open on holidays.

I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was very good . Check -in and check-out was very easy . They housekeepimg was very good .

But I would like to suggest that they should change the pillows and blanket . Even though it was clean but they look like it has been used for too long time and there are some permanent stains on the covers . And pillows became so hard .

Overall, it is a great place to stay if you want to be closer to real Tenerife.. A car is essential as walking to amenities is rather difficult due to how steep the area is. Me and my partner really liked the location- we still remember those morning coffees with amazing views into the ocean.
The apartment itself was quite spacious and it had all we needed. The only negative was the bed- very squeaky at every move - the bed screws need a little grease and that should solve the problem.
Wi-Fi was good in the living room and on the balcony, but not great in the bedroom itself.. The staff very friendly..
There’s is a restaurant on site that serves food and drinks at very reasonable prices..

The appartment was spacious and suited our visit. It was plenty of space for three people, staff was very nice and helpful. It had almost all necessary kitchen accessories (except cutting board) very nice view trough the balcony. The only minus was that there was no heating and the room felt cold inthe mornings and evenings.

The septic was backed up and the room stank to the point of nausea. Had to cancel and book elsewhere. Also you can't flush toilet paper so all your wipes had to be put in be the bin next to the toilet. The hotel kitchen was an unbelievable disaster. The owner left her 11 year old daughter who doesn't speak a lick of English at the front desk so check in was difficult to say the least.

At first we came to the place and the lady at reception didnt find our reservation. Then she told as that all the rooms are booked, so insted, she gave as the suite at the same price. The room was great, clean, small but comfortable, with great view!

Noone in the reception took us about 10 min to find a person who could check us in. Got the wrong room to start with two single beds pushed together instead of king bed. The second room got broken shower handle, black mould in the fridge and and the balcony rail very badly installed- you could use it as a swing instead. No internet connection in a room just on the balcony and very poor. Left after a few hours as soon as secured another hotel. Very disappointed how the owner responded to our complaint. View to die for as long you do not look down- they were getting a new patio just below our balcony.

Ok for one night

Stayed here for one nite due to an early arrival date into Tenerif the hotel is very remote a basic. Our room was extremely small you could just walk around the bed. There is very little in the way of restaurants in this area so you are committed to use hotel resturant which is reasonably priced.
I would not recommend booking a room if staying more than a few days apartments are available.

Could have been nice.

On arrival my booking was cancelled and had to pay more. Three people of my party were bitten by something during the night. The beds were very hard. Breakfast was €7 each and was really not worth it. It could be a nice hotel, but sadly I won’t be coming here again. The flashing pharmacy light outside was a real irritation.

Beautiful building.Well situated.

Most things about the apartment was fairly good,but the central heating did not work all of the time and being January this was a problem,Although the staff were most helpful this caused a problem.Saying that we would not hesitate in returning as the location being close to Garichico and not too far from Puerto de la crus was a plus.

Canarian apartments in Icod del los Venos

Guests are very much left to work it out for themselves. Arrived late at night, reception office locked. Wandered around and was 'found' by staff so we could check in. Apartment was basic. Very very hard mattress. Poor internet reception cover. The views of tenerifes coastline from the balcony were it's only positive feature, it was a very clean room and there was plenty of parking. Continental breakfast on offer in the morning 7 Euros. Adequate but with very limited choice.

Comfortable Hotel

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay with excellent accommodation and fine food in the linked Los Faroles restaurant. The staff were always helpful. Provided you have your own transport,the venue is well located for visiting the rest of Tenerife and just a few kilometres drive from the very attractive Garachico and not that far from Puerto de la Cruz. You do need to be fit to climb back from Icod itself if walking into town, but steep inclines in Tenerife are the norm ! A number of the fellow residents had chosen the venue for access to the hiking trails, but again the hotel works if you are just looking for a bit of pampering.

Cozy, comfort and solitude

The family owned Estrella Del Norte was a very warm experience and had impressive service for such a short staff (the family). For those looking to get away from the city life and to be alone with your loved one, this place is the ultimate recommendation. The food at the hotel restaurant is some of the best food you will be able to try while on Tenerife and definitely is a hidden gem on the island. A pleasant walk to the center of Icod De Los vinos is a nice way to start a morning and there is a healthy amount of things to enjoy in the area.

Very nice spot

We were left without a place to stay after we cancelled our reservation at the hotel where we were staying. The stay at estrella lifted our spirit, it is located above Icod del los vinos, not in the best spot ever, but it over looks the seaand has the most beautiful views from its sppartments.
The service was superb. And so was dining at it's restaurant.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Nice accomodation/flat, could do with a heater in the winter, felt cold in the nights. Shower needs updating. Very poor flow from the shower. Could have had a microwave oven as we were self catering, but did provide us with a toaster and a kettle upon request. Very helpful and polite staff both Robert and Naomi. Dinner at the restaurant was good and tasty. Good travel/tourist advice from Robert and Naomi. Generally satisfied with the service.

Hotel was overbooked.

When we arrived we were informed that we could not have the room we booked 2 months in advance because the hotel was fully booked. Instead they would give us an upgraded apartment in a property they owned a short distance away ( 1.5 miles). On reflection we should have demanded our money back at this point. It had a nice terrace but had only one working 400W heater and very cold. Sheets looked moth eaten. There was no hot water morning 1, no water at all morning 2 and the warm water pressure so low that you could not have a decent shower. The shower head was broken off the wall. The decor was not good and the TV didn't work.
After 4 days of this we eventually got the room we had booked in the apartment complex but only after a lot of argument with the manageress who seemed to suggest that our complaints were frivolous.
She clearly didn't quite grasp how angry we were with her because on our first evening in our nice apartment she came to our room to ask us if we could move out to make way for another couple who had no TV in their room and who found it impossible to sleep without a TV. Its sometimes hard to not be abusive.
So our holiday consisted of 4 days in a substandard apartment we would never have booked and 3 days in the apartment we actually booked which was OK.
Would I return? No.

Good base for exploring North West

Good quality for the price. Very friendly helpful staff. The buffet breakfasts were good with reasonable choice. The restaurant attached to the hotel is good with a nice range of canarian food at a reasonable price and we didn't use our self catering facilities much as a result. If you did want to do more self catering, there didn't seem to be too many cooking utensils, but I guess manageable for most. The house red wine was particularly nice and good value. Walking down and back to Icod is really only for the fit as the hills are about 1 in 5, which was OK for us, but might not be for others.

Single room for double booked

I booked a double room but instead was given a single room. The guy on the reception told me that it was the room I booked online. However there was only one towel in the bathroom, one bedside table next to the bed and I could not approach the bed from one side because there was no room, it was too close the the wall. No wardrobe in the room, only a cheap textile shelf. TV very small and old. I was sold a single room for a price of a double room.

A disappointment

I think that we possibly had one of the smallest rooms in the hotel. It looked as if some of the others were quite a reasonable size, but ours had an extremely narrow living area, more like a galley. There was a kitchen, but completely inadequately stocked. The water pressure was only just adequate for a shower. The room was on the corner of a very busy road, so quite noisy.

When we got there a large number of light bulbs were not working, and in spite of repeated requests we never obtained a full working set.

We ate once in the hotel restaurant, but it has absolutely zero atmosphere, with very bright lighting.

The main disadvantage of this establishment is its location. It situated high above the town of Icod and can only be accessed via a narrow and winding road up a very steep hill and it is not in walking distance from the town. The balcony, which faced the wrong direction for the sun, overlooked a very busy and noisy road. The whole atmosphere was chilly although we found no fault with the restaurant.

comfy but cold!!

Enjoyed our stay - had a hire car - necessary if staying here! Our room with terrace was lovely the only problem was it was so cold we bought extra blankets!! Admittedly the weather was colder than usual for this time of year. Otherwise the bed was comfy, kitchen area ok although a kettle or coffe maker wouldnt hurt!! The tv channels were all in German..... The breakfast was good - enough to keep going till evening!!

Nice and quiet

This is a really nice hotel. Very welcoming and friendly people who own it and work there.

After a particularly bad journey, airline lost my bags:-( it was nice 2 see a welcoming smiling face. We checked in and were pleased 2 learn the restaurant was still open 4 food even though it was about 10 pm!

I would say though that really u need 2 have a hire car if u were going 2 stay here, or anywhere else in icod for that matter, the town is on the side of a volcano so almost everywhere is either up or down a very steep hill.

I couldn't recommend this place more. If u want a nice quiet retreat away from all the tourist locations yet is convenient to access many of the attractions tenerife has 2 offer I am sure u will have a great time.

Very good for the money but for a self-catering appartment was seriously lacking in kitchen equipment - not even a kettle! Apart from that the appartment was lovely, well decorated and very clean and with a lovely sea view. We managed to locate the appartment block easily but would recommend looking it up on google earth street view before you go.

Ett väldigt fint och rent boende med havsutsikt åt ena hållet och utsikt över Teide åt andra hållet.
Men väldigt kallt i rummen och på golvet. Dubbelsängen var två olika höga sängar som hade ställts ihop. Vi hade stora problem med att få igång gasspisen eftersom det inte fanns nåt att tända den med.

Jag hyrde en bil vilket för mig är ett måste på detta boende.
Helt ok standard. Trevlig personal i restaurangen. Inga aktiviteter för barn vilket stod i annonsen? och bubbelpoolen va inte igång. Va svårt att få tag på receptionen när jag skulle fråga ifall dom kunde sätta igång den. Hade andra aktiviteter för mig så va inte jätte viktigt. Men skulle säkert gå bra att få igång den ifall jag Ansträngt mig mer för att få tag på receptionisten.
Mitt resmål va att hänga med barnen och gå på utflykter. Skulle inte passa för att bara hänga vid runt lägenheten en vecka.

Old time charm outside the tourist areas

We were warmly welcomed and we were even able to choose the apartment. The owner was really nice all the time, but sadly there were just too many things not going right: We had Internet access only for the first night of our two weeks stay and the cleaning services were not as promised. The apartment itself was spacious, but for example the kitchen cabinets smelled quite musty and there were definitely not enough sockets.

L’hôtel est plus un 2 étoiles. Ne mérite pas 3 étoiles. La chambre très humide Pas de chauffage quand vous entrez dans l'appartement ça vous prend à la gorges. Manque de vaisselle. Pas de sauna ni de hammam depuis 2 ans mais toujours dans le descriptif sur internet! Hotel vétuste.

Wir waren Ende März in diesem Hotel.
Zunächst hatten wir ein Appartement, das sehr muffig gerochen hat. Auf Nachfrage und ohne Probleme haben wir dann eines mit Fenster nach draußen bekommen, dass normal gerochen hat. Nachts wird es etwas kalt aber ist erträglich. Zimmer haben alles was man braucht.
Ansonsten super freundliches Personal. Und toller Aufenthalt

Ihan perus junttien hotelli. Kiinni kaiken aikaa. Palvelua sai vain kun oli ruokailuaika. Puerto de la Cruziin vain kiven heitto. 16 min ajomatka. Vuorten ylittämistä en suosittele aloittelijoille. Kokennutkin kuski saa ajaa kieli keskellä suuta. Tiet kapeita ja mutkia riittää. En suosittele perheille. Palvelut kaukana ja auto on välttämätön. Halpa kuin Lada huutokaupassa. Jos kaipaa hiljaisuutta ja lähes tylyä palvelua ja pärjää omillaan niin sinne vaan. Romantikkojen ja seikkailijoiden hotelli. Paikallisten kanssa vaaditaan kärsivällisyyttä ja pitkää pinnaa..

Ideales Hotel für Wanderer

Wir haben das Hotel zum Ausganspunkt für Unternehmungen und Wanderungen auf der ganzen Insel genutzt. Die Familie die das Hotel führt ist sehr engagiert und freundlich, so wie alle Menschen auf der Insel sehr freundlich waren! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden bestimmt nächstes Jahr wieder dort wohnen. wenn man einen Wunsch hat, kann man das direkt mit der Chefin besprechen und das Problem beheben. Alles unkompliziert.

No somos de playas asi que Icod nos ha gustado mucho. Hay mucho que ver en la isla y alquilamos un coche. El lado norte de la isla no es tan turístico que el sur. Recomiendo llegar en el aeropuerto norte ya que la autopista llega hasta Icod. Caminos bien preparados para hacer caminatas en el bosque. Lo hemos pasado muy bien.

Hotel aan noordkand van eiland, zon komt er amper

doordat onze kamer aan de noordkant lag, terras, uitzicht op zee. Kon het beetje zonlicht dat er was niet de kamer verwarmen. De stenen koelden af en in de kamer was het doordringend koud. Wij zijn daarom allebei na 2 dagen ziekgevallen (ook nog meerdere mensen in hotel) Personeel kon ons niet onmiddellijk helpen met verwarming want door te grote aanvraag schoten ze tekort aan verwarmingstoestellen. Uiteindelijk kregen wij een electrische radiator en het duurde nog 2 dagen vooraleer de kamer weer wat comfortabeler aanvoelde. Maar het kwaad was geschied. Na drie weken bekomen wij nog van de griep opgelopen aldaar...
Hotel heeft alle faciliteiten en restaurant is doorsnee spaans : ok
Voor ons geen plaats meer om terug te keren.

Zimmer war schmutzig (Tisch klebrig) und wurde wärend 8 Tage auch nie geputzt (immer gleicher Fleck am Boden). Handtücher gibts pro Person alle 3 Tage neu. Das wäre OK aber wenn man früher eines braucht und nachfragt kostet das 30 Euro (!) In der Rezeption ist fast nie jemand. Man kann im Restaurant fragen aber da muss man selbst drauf kommen. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und mit 7 Euro wirklich sehr günstig. Mit einigen Leuten mehr Personal und kleinen Reparaturen (Duschschlauch wechseln, ...) könnte man das DEUTLICH verbessern.

Schönes Hotel!

Das Hotel hat ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, die Appartements sind groß und die Aussicht gut.
Einzig zu bemängeln war das Bett: zu klein und nicht bequem. Vor drei Jahren hatten wir ein anderes Zimmer mit King-Size-Bett (und Terrasse), das war besser.

Liegt höher ,nicht strandnah, Auto erforderlich

Schönes sauberes Zimmer, Anlage liegt auf ca 360 m Höhe, schöner Ausblick , Auto ist zwingend erforderlich . Wir könnten alles auf deutsch besprechen im Hotel. Alle waren wirklich sehr sehr nett.

Het appartement is nodig aan vernieuwing toe.

Bij dit Appartement is het echt wel nodig om een auto te hebben. In de naaste omgeving is er niets te doen.Het restaurant bij het complex waar je gebruik van kunt maken is redelijk. Het schoonmaken daar waren ze zo mee klaar. In de 14 dg. dat wij er waren, zijn de bedden niet verschoond. Het hotel is erg gehorig, je hoort de andere gasten praten en lopen. Ook ligt het aan een drukke straat, waar veel verkeer is, wat ook goed te horen is. Het ontbijt is redelijk maar saai, iedere dag hetzelfde.

Nice family hotel around a quiet town

Somewhat frustrating start with our initial room not having a working stove or tv remote and somewhat unused bath with dark water. The reception staff were very helpful and changed the room quickly, to a much better room.
Lady on reception was helpful with booking tours around the island and guiding us on shops and areas of interest. Generally good but the local area seems remote with only a local shop and pharmacy within walking distance. Hiring a car mandatory in my view.

L'hotel è molto carino ma il luogo dove si trova è sconsigliabile nei mesi di luglio ed agosto, in quanto è in una zona soggetta a nuvolosità e nebbia quasi ogni giorno. Ci hanno detto che da settembre in poi, invece, sia soleggiato, ma intanto noi in dodici giorni abbiamo visto il sole solo due volte!!!

Falta limpieza y atencion en recepcion

Me quede en un apartamento en el que los cajones tenian polvo y pelos, tenia un mirador y al abrir las puertas tenia unas telarañas que no eran de un dia ni de dos.
Cuando bajabas a recepcion a preguntar algo nunca habia nadie tuvimos suerte que estuviesen el dia que llegamos alli.
Por el contrario cuando te atendian el trato era muu bueno, y las vistas tambien.
Le falta algo mas de atencion por lo demas bien.

Bel appartement avec de belles commodités

Nous avons été accueillies avec gentillesse et amabilité par Roberto et Noémie qui sont partout à la fois. Parlant plusieurs langues, ils nous ont fait nous sentir chez-nous et bienvenus. Appartement bien équipé et propre et calme. Nous avons aussi bien profité du restaurant Los Faroles situé dans l'hôtel. La nourriture y est familiale, excellente et les prix sont plus que raisonnables. Un agradecimiento especial a Noemie y Roberto. Tenerife est une île magnifique à visiter, une semaine c'était trop court !
