Family-friendly property but definitely a bit dated. The elevators had a funky smell. The living space was huge and the in-room bottomless beer amenity was pretty cool. Overall, it wasn’t bad for a short weekend trip to Hakone.

Absolutely stunning hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and extremely attentive. They represent the hotel very well. We stayed in one of the rooms with a private onsen and the view of the mountains and the river below was wonderful, very peaceful. The room included in room dinner and breakfast service and this was such an amazing treat. Our guest assistant was excellent, she seemed to be so happy and enthusiastic to serve all the time. At one point, I had been playing with the coffee machine, trying to rescue a pod that didn't quite work and she noticed me doing this even while she was clearing up breakfast and came and made me a coffee completely on her own initiative. The food was so delicious and fresh and beautifully presented. In everything we felt thoroughly spoilt. It was a wonderful 2 night stay.

This Classic and traditional Japanese resort was wonderful! We decided to splurge and booked w half board- the breakfast and Dinner - all very traditional Japanese food, tasty and beautifully presented. We reserved the Japanese style room and enjoyed the comfortable futon. The Ofuro was empty when we went so we really enjoyed the ofuro - make sure to check out both the 6th floor and 2nd floor ofuro (M/F switch times). It was so close to the hakone yumoto station where it was convenient as the starting point for area sightseeing. For arrival, we took a bus from Okayama JR station for ¥480 which dropped us off half a block away from this Ryokan. Would recommend this Ryokan.

Other than the onsen, the staff attitude and room set up was terrible. Amenities were not set up to the correct number of guests, even after requests were made correct amenities were not sent up to the room. The property charges over 30,000 yen, I expect better service and better attitude from the employees

The entrance into the building is nice and inviting. We checked in and were given two keys to the room, which are actual keys and not a card. Once we got to \"our room\" it was quickly discovered that there was an error in check in. Other people's belongings were still in the room and it was not the type of room we booked. Thankfully the people were not in the room and we called the front desk to let them know of the issue. They immediately came up and verified that they made a mistake and apologized profusely. They did fix the room issue and got us settled into the right room. They also gave us an apology gift for the mishap. The room had a great view of the river and the cherry blossoms. We had the half board, the food was pretty good but you do need to be open to maybe trying some new things as there are many traditional dishes that are served.

The most zen 24 spent in Japan.

This was a Japanese cultural dream. From the traditional meals to dressing in yukata everything was perfect. Even tho it may be out of the comfort zone of some westerners, I think everyone should stay at a ryokan. It’s truly the most zen experience! We even tried soaking in the onsite onsen. Try it! You won’t regret it!

The hotel is beautiful. Maybe it was because we were in a smaller town with fewer English speakers, but the staff was less friendly here than at other places we stayed during our trip. There are also fewer \"included\" extras, which we found to be more common at other hotels. This was the priciest hotel we stayed at during our trip and I think I just expected a little more for what we spent. I did like the experience of staying in more traditional Japanese lodgings and the views are spectacular. Very close to a lot of fun shops and food. We did the set meal for dinner and breakfast and it was an interesting experience but not something I would go out of my way to do again next time I'm in Japan.

The property was very clean but was rather tired and worn considering the price. The room was rather musty smelling and the bathroom outdated and basic. I have a severe Shellfish Allergy which I notified the property of the day before arrival (as required). At check in I was assured they knew but at our included dinner there were multiple shellfish included in 2 courses. We checked out first thing in the morning and passed on the included breakfast. Needs improvement.

The stay is very bad. When we arrived at 7:45pm, we were told that we will not get our dinner because the dinner cut off time is 7 pm. When I made the reservation, there is nothing to advise us that the dinner cut off time is 7 pm. If we knew the cut off time is so close to our arrival time, I would not pay for the room and half board. At the check in, I was given a piece of instruction and it clearly stating that the dinner close at 9 pm. Nothing stated that dinner cut off time at 7 pm.

Great traditional Onsen experience in Hakone

Had an amazing stay with a really nice traditional Japanese hotel room with futons and a private outdoor hot bath. The hotel staff spoke enough English to be welcoming and helpful. We had the half board so a delicious traditional japanese dinner and breakfast were included. The highlight was having a private hot bath after dinner with sake i bought up the street at Lawsons.

Pretty good location at the end of the Hakone-yumoto area. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was very friendly. We have tattoos so the public onsen was a no-go but we got a room with a private onsen. The hotel is pretty but seems pretty dated. The room was nice but also dated. The onsen was gorgeous and relaxing minus some of the bugs and such. The sound of the rushing water from the river was relaxing and definitely made it easier to imagine being in a far off and isolated area. The dinner was great and had a variety of seasonal dishes. The provided sake was sweet and chilled. The ramen restaurant inside the hotel was also nice and had a very small restaurant feel. The staff there was friendly and accommodating. I love this area so I might stay here again

Long history of the facility, the surrounding is breath taking with the sound of river running outside the room I stayed in was bright and spacious. The Japanese style dinner and breakfast choosen was delicious.
However keep in mine due to the age of the property cleanliness in certain area are missed. The toilet room is an older type and it has a strong funky smell, not the sulphuric acid from the area...

The property is what everyone could desire. Barely 5min walk to the Hakone Yumoto station and bus stops where you can hop on to get around. You will have access to all the restaurants, souvenir shops, convenient stores and you name it. The property also provides everything you would need. Their Onsen is my fav. Soak indoor or outdoor, shared Onsen or personal tub. Simply loving it! Would definitely return when I next visit Hakone.

The hotel is about 10 minutes' walk from the train station. Front desk staff speak English and are friendly and helpful. Four of us stayed one night in a traditional Japanese room, which is clean and very spacious. The futon is very comfortable and we had a very good sleep after one day out. We enjoyed and relaxed ourselves at the public onsen as there were only a few people when we were there. A lot of the eateries nearby close quite early in the evening, so it might be a good idea to include the options for dinner and breakfast when making reservations. Overall, a good experience staying in this hotel and would stay there again the next time we visit Hakone.

Hotel doesnt have wifi in the room. They claimed the wifi is abaible at the lobby but it didnt work!! We asked the hotel staff to check on the lobby wifi, the lady just said “im sorry it’s not working”, and didn’t even try to fix. The hotel staff was not very helpful ( wasn’t willing to help!), speak very little english.

My mother and I highly enjoyed our stay at this excellent hotel. Our spacious room had clean, fresh, well-maintained tatami flooring. We were given Yukata to wear during our in-room dining, as well as our trips to the relaxation lounge and the onsen. Our room also came with our own private, miniature onsen.
I wouldnt stay anywhere else in Hakone. Hotel Kajikaso is the way to go.

Fantastic experience.

We stayed at this Ryoken for two nights in the traditional Japanese style room with open air bath. Very large room with a beautiful Onsen; I can’t emphasize how AWESOME the private oneen was. If you don’t wanna get nakey in front of other people but still want to experience the hot springs bath, get the private one.

The service was fantastic. The lady who set us up our breakfast and dinner reminded us of a cute little grandma spoiling us with food. The half board meals were good with a huge variety of different traditional Japanese foods.

The only thing I would change is adding some blackout curtains in the morning. The sun rose directly into our room and with no curtains to block the light (just the traditional looking paper style windows) we were up at 5:30 in the morning.

Overall a spectacular experience and a great way to see traditional Japanese culture.

Awesome ryokan! We loved every minute of our stay. We had a family room (4 adults and 2 kids, age 5 and 7) with private Onsen which is totally the way to go to pamper yourself. We also enjoyed the public baths too. Lots of amenities for bathing. They also had children size yukatas and slippers for the kids. We were welcomed to our rom with tea and red bean sweets. Very nice touch. Kaiseki dinner was lovely and delicious, as was breakfast as well. We would recommend this hotel to everyone!

We had the private onsen room, it was very nice, room conditions was perfect. Everything as expected if not better...
One improvement will be the staffs, the check in staff who got us to the room didn’t give us enough instructions regarding the room itself... and we had to discover by ourselves what most facilities were for... also the food they served for dinner and breakfast we had no idea what we were having, or whether there is a specific way to take them... my mum was happy thou, so I’m good

One of the best choice in Hakone

The hotel is located by the river and within 10 minutes walking distance from the Hakone Station. The room is very clean and spacious (comparing with other Japanese hotels) with classic Japanese style. It is quite worthy to book the room with dinner and breakfast. The food are amazing with lots of courses. Very beautiful and tasty. Will stay at this hotel again when I come back to Hakone next time.

I was really looking forward to staying at a traditional Japanese ryokan. This hotel was just average, in my opinion. Meal service was on time and staff was attentive and gracious but barely spoke any English. If you don't speak any Japanese, you would not have understood any of the instructions or information. Food quality was 3 out of 5. Location was great; walking distance to main train station. Room was not very clean. Right next to river so very tranquil. I think you can get more bang for your buck staying someplace else.

Great Onsen, fantastic service, but a bit older

The service was absolutely top notch, it made you feel like a VIP. We booked the suite because it was a family vacation to fit 6 of us and we had our own private onsen. Great for my parents who didnt feel comfortable using the public onsen that was there. They were very friendly and hospitable. The place is definitely on the older side, but I suppose thats the experience that most people go for.

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel. Le très gros plus a été son onsen, l'un des meilleurs que l'on ait eu au Japon avec vue sur les montagnes. Le diner et le petit-déjeuner était très bons et nous avons eu droit à une animation par des geishas. Ombres au tableau, notre salle de bain avait été mal nettoyée et nous étions proches des turbines de ventilation un peu bruyante.

位置非常方便，面對早川，櫻花季節酒店前即可欣賞到櫻花～酒店內設施齊全，入住時職員非常親切帶路介紹各個地方和設施，最喜歡面對河川的戶外足湯、大浴場和禮品店。我們的早晚餐都在房裡進行，有一位管家照顧，熟知酒店和餐飲食材，每餐細心介紹豐富食物，亦會非常友善和我們聊幾句。這次住宿非常放鬆，隨時可以享受溫泉，餐飲非常美味。謝謝管家的悉心照顧，我們很開心到河鹿莊住宿！希望將來可以買到河鹿莊特製的餐前酒，真的一試難忘！

整體溫泉旅館體驗是舒適的，欣賞食物高尚感覺，私人風呂水質及環境良好，迎賓食物及飲品有限時間內自由飲用，唯一不足就是食物份量較少，而且款式不多

放鬆心情好住處

我們選是有私人溫泉的房間，空間很大，靠河邊很舒服，但發現酒店邊上有建設中的工地，不知會否影響，週末假期是不會影響，平日入住就要注意一下。
房間私湯很隱秘，在淋浴間邊上，真的很私人呢！
一泊兩食，都是差不多，沒太大驚喜，也不失望的

服務員可能不夠. Check in時等了一段時間. 晚點見到清潔汽水機及夜晚在禮品店都是這位女職員. 但她非常友善！
因我腳受傷，事前有電郵查詢是否酒店內有樓梯. 知悉會有幾級樓梯的. 亦沒有要求酒店會做什麼.
但他們實在太貼心，房間內安排高椅子. 原本應該到餐廳食晚餐及早餐都改做房間內食. 而且房間都是盡量接近電梯位置. 真係太貼心值得讚！其實酒店內有樓梯的位置都有斜道. 所以就算輪椅人士都可以的.
晚餐及早晨味道ok. 酒店看得出有些歷史的舊.
另外很喜愛足湯的位置. 而且有毛巾在旁邊！

部屋風呂のあるお部屋に泊まりました。湯量もたっぷりで、とても優雅な時間を過ごすことが出来ました。お部屋に備えていただいた甘味やお茶受け（漬物）も最高でした。外国の方も部屋風呂でゆっくり日本の温泉を楽しめて良いのではないでしょうか。
