The breakfast was very nice. Very nice views. Free parking.

We booked a 'double room, 1 double bed' and were given 2 single beds. The room was VERY cold as the heating was only on very low. The bathroom was even colder as there was no heating at all. There were electric blankets on the beds which helped a little but we didn't sleep very well.
The room was rather dated and could do with being modernised. The soundproofing isn't great.
The water in our jug in our room didn't look very clean.
Whilst the house is essentially only a 20 minute walk to Baltimore, the walk is very dangerous so we had to drive. We couldn't get a taxi for less than 20 Euro and there didn't appear to be any public transport. This obviously limited what we could do in the evening, without having to drive.

Everything was perfect!

Marguerite is an absolutely lovely host and her place is amazing. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody in the area, and I wish we could of stayed longer.

First Marguerite is so friendly and accommodating. We arrived right at the end of check in (2000/8pm) due to taking country roads instead of the main ones on accident. I messaged her and she immediately responded saying it was not a problem. She gave us a warm welcome upon arrival. We've been traveling for 6 months straight and never felt more at home than at this B&B.

The room is incredibly comfy, the beds have heated blankets which is lovely during the winter night. The place was nicely decorated and everything was clean. It was also very nice having an ensuite restroom. She provided towels, standard Toiletries, water, tea and coffee. Also, the seaview is an amazing add on. It was so lovely waking up and seeing the water, grazing cattle, and the natural greenery.

Breakfast was outstanding, especially since its included free of charge. Everything was tasty and well cooked. I had sausages, eggs, bacon and various breads (most of which were homemade). My partner had the full Irish Breakfast, which was also delicious. There are also many other options, but definitely recommend these choices.

If youre looking for a true B&B experience this is the place. Everything was perfect and if were ever back in the area this will be the first place we return to.

The property is lovely and has a wonderful view of the bay. It sits up on a hill so getting to it is very steep! The host was wonderful and the room was bright and comfortable with a nice bathroom. We left before breakfast so I can't comment on it.

Beautiful stay!!

Went for a mini break to Cork and stayed here for one night! Marguerite was so welcoming and professional! The view from our room over looking the harbour was amazing, the room was lovely and spotless! Breakfast was delish! Will definitely be back here again.

The Rathmore House, as many reviewers stated, did serve the BEST home-made Irish breakfast, but the house itself is pretty old and out in the country where you could easily smell the cow manure right outside the house. The room we stayed at was pretty roomy, but the bathroom was small and cold. We booked it for the breakfast and we got what we looked for.

Great B&B with superb view from the rooms over the bay. Staff were helpful, no request was trouble for them, really made our stay memorable. Initially we got a smaller room but were moved after one night to another one with the same superb view but twice the size! The room was huge and very clean. Breakfast was amazing from locally sourced ingredients. Will definitely book again the next time when we are in the area.

Exceptional hospitality with homemade touches

This B&B has commanding views of Baltimore Bay and the hostess goes out of her way to provide tea, homemade breads and scones, and even homemade jams for weary travelers. She imparted great advice as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to others.

Perfect host, location, breakfast etc.
Only complaint would be the slight smell coming from the en-suite. It came up from shower and sink drains. But was not over powering and once you kept window open in bathroon and door shut it wasnt too bad. Would definately stay there again.

A room for the night but we wouldn't go back

The location of Rathmore House is good, as it's on the road to Baltimore, which is a lovely village with great sites as well as ferries to other islands. I booked based on positive reviews but was absolutely not satisfied with our stay. The service was good (tea and scones were presented upon arrival) but the housekeeping was really very poor. They need to update the rooms (very thin carpet, shower grout had mildew) and linens (bath towels had holes, duvet smelled like an attic). Compounding things: They have a spider problem. We won't be back.

What a beautiful and wonderful place this was--and Marguerite, who funs the house, is beyond wonderful. She made us feel like family literally from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, and helped us to solve every small problem we encountered--from finding adapter plugs to how to get around. The morning breakfast was a special treat, too. I had the Full Irish Breakfast every morning, and it was absolutely excellent. In fact, it was so excellent and so filling that I usually didn't need to eat anything else until my evening meal, so I feel that I saved at least 20 euros a day by staying here (counting a modest € 8 for breakfast and € 12 for lunch--which is probably low-balling it). You get more than your money's worth at Rathmore House, for sure.

The location is quite beautiful. From the front of the house you look out onto a lovely harbor. The walk into the town proper is a bit challenging . . . it's a mile or so, and the road is twisty and very narrow, so it's best to have an eye on the traffic. (Though I did find that the traffic is quite good at looking out for you.) i walked in to town every morning and enjoyed the walk, but wouldn't walk back at night on a bet, so make sure that you have some transportation arranged for the way back if you're out past dark. It seemed to me that you could catch the bus from the Baltimore Pier back up to the House, but I never actually used it. I do know that it runs right past the front door of Ra.

Absolutely wonderful!

Of the eight nights we spent in Ireland, this place was by far our favorite. Our room was comfortable and fit all of our needs. The lady who owns the place was extremely nice and made us an absolutely wonderful breakfast . I wish I could have purchased several jars of her homemade jam because it was delicious! After leaving, we wished we would have been able to stay for longer.

Perhaps the best B and B in Cork!

The owner is a wonderful lady who runs a first class B and B! We were made to feel most welcome from the first moment of our 4 day stay until the last.

Our breakfasts were first class, and everything was \"no trouble at all\"!

The hotel has a marvellous location overlooking part of Baltimore harbour and is about 3 minutes by car from the village centre.

Unglaublicher Blick auf die Bucht!

Wir waren für zwei Nächte dort. Wir hatten ein geräumiges Zimmer mit guten Betten.
Bad war sehr klein aber zweckmäßig.
Das Haus im allgemeinen sehr hellhörig.
Die Lage ist Mega! Abends kann man entspannt vor dem Haus sitzen und auf die Bucht runter schauen. Unglaublich schön.
Frühstück war wunderbar und mehr als ausreichend in der Menge. Es wurde alles frisch mit lokalen Zutaten bereitet.
Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Uitzicht over de baai was prachtig, kamer was ruim. Ontbijt was prima, versgebakken huisgemaakt brood en scones, lokale kazen - erg lekker.

Der Lack ist hier leider schon ab

Die Lage oberhalb einer Bucht ist genial und die Wirtin ist nett.
Das waren für uns aber leider schon alle positiven Aspekte. Wir konnten zwischen einem Zimmer mit Meerblick und einem etwas größeren wählen. Das erste wäre dann aber das mit Abstand kleinste Zimmer unserer Irland-Rundreise gewesen und wir hatten einige ziemlich kleine Zimmer...
Die Zimmereinrichtung hat schon sehr deutlich die besten, weniger klapprigen Zeiten hinter sich, die Bettwäsche ebenfalls und die Matratzen vermitteln sehr rustikalen Pritschenkomfort.
Das alles könnte ja noch als einigermaßen charmant rustikal durchgehen, aber einige weitere Kleinigkeiten haben wir so sonst nirgends erlebt: Der Nachttisch war bestimmt seit Wochen schon nicht mehr abgestaubt, im Bad zeigten sich erste Anzeichen von Schimmel und unser Frühstückstisch war auf der ganzen Oberfläche klebrig...
Und das alles für einen Preis, der -wohl auch weil das Rathmore etwas außerhalb liegt- im Vergleich zu anderen B&Bs in Baltimore und Umgebung zwar gerade noch akzeptabel ist, im Vergleich zu allen anderen B&B, die wir hatten, uns aber absolut nicht angemessen erschien.

Zeker de moeite waard om te verblijven

Een warm welkom van Marguerite, onze gastvrouw, met thee/koffie en eigengemaakte scones, heerlijk! Interieur was wat gedateerd, maar onze kamer was ruim en schoon. Huis ligt boven op een steil oprijlaan; vanaf hier heb je een prachtig uitzicht over Baltimore Bay. Marquerite stelde ook een goed restaurant voor: in de buurt en een goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding waar veel buurtbewoners kwamen eten. 's Ochtends een heerlijk ontbijt, veel keuze aan fruit/yoghurt/muesli ed. E.e.a. werd met veel zorg klaargemaakt en geserveerd. Deze B&B was een goede start van onze week in Ierland.

point de vue magnifique

joli maison de famille disposant d'une vue magnifique sur la baie. L'accueil (thé offert à notre arrivée avec scones) est fort appréciables. Le petit déjeuner est bon et typiquement irlandais. Notre chambre était grande mais simple avec un décoration un peu vieillotte (petit désagrément : odeur d'égout dans la salle de bain).
