Our check-in experience was exceptional. Cynthia was super helpful in every way. The room was delightful - clean and comfortable. Hotel is within easy walking distance to dining, coffee, nightlife and ice cream. Spectacular lakefront to walk and enjoy. Can’t wait to return!

My single room was very large with two queen beds. The balcony overlooked the lake, which was absolutely gorgeous. I got to my building and use the elevator key to go to my room and it was not working. The staff from the office came right over and exchanged the key with me to let me get up to my room. Would recommend this 10+

This so called boutique hotel has 3 buildings spread within a block from each other - which is not a big deal. However, the room was no where close to a stylish boutique hotel. I was in building 2 & had to park across the street since the few parking spaces (2 handicap & 3-4 regular parking) behind the building are all taken. You have to go thru a screen door behind the building & use your security card to operate the elevator. Room 216 smelled horrible. It had a strong smell of smoke. The room was old & dirty. Floor was sticky. The bed was ok but not great either. The bed linens did not smell freshly laundered. Microwave & refrigerator looked nasty. Bathroom was out dated, although it was clean. No USB outlets. Only a few electrical outlets. The furniture were unbelievably old & beat up. The walls are not soundproofed. You can hear kids running from the upper floor. There’s a bar that plays live music that you can hear loudly. It was very hard to sleep with the noise. At one point in the middle of the night, it felt like someone was trying to forcibly open the door of my room or the room next to me & the door stopper prevented the door from opening. I felt extremely unsafe & uncomfortable. I cancelled my 2nd night at this hotel. This was the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel. Which sucks because the area seemed really nice with restaurants & the view of the lake was beautiful.

I stayed at this hotel when it was key west and only one building. When I booked I was thinking it was just the same building different name. It’s now three separate buildings. I stayed in building 3 and it was ok. Room spacious but the room came off as cheap motel. Only can watch tv through apps and none of the apps work but Tubi and Roku channels. No daily housekeeping. Overly price for what they’re offering

When we checked in we discovered that not only did the hotel not provide breakfast as was indicated in our reservation but we were given a room with only one bed when we reserved a room with two beds. The front desk staff apologized however since they were fully booked they could only provide a different room for one night and not the second night but we were assured that the rooms would be refunded. We were told to contact the general manager on Monday to get the refund however after calling 4 times we were never able to speak to her.

The room lacked a coffee maker or any dishes to heat a cup of water for tea. The towels were wet out of the dryer, had to go get dry towels. The bed was like sleeping on an old box spring. One of the worse nights sleep we've had. Would not recommend it, if you plan on sleeping.

Very interesting hotel.
The room was very nice with the exception of the tv. We only had closed captioning on tv. Tried everything to get it off no luck.
Parking was not good. I’m handicap and they had w spas that were never free. We had to park at another building and walk.
No coffee in room. Coffee house on premises opened too late for us 8:00
The pool was too far away for us to walk too.

I was on the 2nd floor of building #3. Traveling alone, I felt a little unsafe entering a non-secure hallway, and then struggling to get my door unlocked. (The desk representative admitted that she had told someone to work on that lock before my arrival). The room (and view) were very nice, BUT I could everyone talking in the rooms near me. (2am loud video games and more). It was convenient to have a refrigerator

Frankly, the building we were in (#3) was a dump. The bare concrete in the \"hall\" looked more like a big box store than a hotel. The plumbing in the bathtub was such that turning the mixer knob caused the faucet to rattle within wall.

The freezer inside the refrigerator was half filled with frost.

Then our next door neighbors arrived. At 1 AM. At which time there was 2 hours of pandemonium. Loud music, yelling, arguments - in the hall outside our door and in the room. After an hour of this I went down to the front desk. Nothing changed for another hour.

Advice to anyone who doesn't want to party all night.

Avoid this hotel.

Pros: Spaceous corner room with a decent view of the lake. Front desk was also very friendly. Comfortable bed.

Cons: Entire second floor reaked of bleach. Mini ironing board was broken in several ways. No coffee or water in the room was a bit uncommon. Housekeeping started early (before 8am) and was extremely loud.

OK for a short stay.

The Hotel is situated in proximity to the beauty of the Lake, restaurants, a marina and seaplanes. There is ample free parking and check-in was a breeze. The staff at the front desk were amazing and Toni and Sharon went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the hotel's hospitality as well as what was nearby for us to enjoy. It is hard to emphasize how exceptional staff were.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet with a nice balcony to help you enjoy the lake view. There is also a rooftop bar but it is only open for the latter part of the week and weekend. Great place to stay and we will definitely be back.

The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was a mix up with Expedia and the hotel. (Expedia has suite pictures posted at basic room prices). But the staff was nice enough to give us the suite at the listed price.
Room was very clean, close to everything downtown, great restaurants, nice parks, and great view of the lake.
Will definitely stay here again.

The room was clean but had an off putting odor. There is no coffee maker but a coffee shop downstairs from building 2. I felt like the office staff could have brought us to our room or building. Maybe a golf cart. I don’t know, it was like “park over there somewhere”. There are 3 buildings, you don’t know what room you’re getting. I was supposed to get a room with 2 beds but got 1 king. The check in building has nothing to offer, a couple chairs and a tv. It’s not inviting. Hot tea, something? I don’t know maybe there focus is else where other than customer service. When you call the number they answer maybe half the time.

The first night we got literally zero sleep. The toilet in our room was running constantly (that loud hissing/filling sound all night) and the wall-mounted AC unit was dripping water and making a loud rattling/gurgling noise every few minutes. On top of that, the mattress had a massive sag in the middle – it felt like sleeping in a hammock that was about to collapse.
We called maintenance first thing in the morning and explained the issues. They said someone would come “right away.” We left for the day assuming it would be fixed while we were out. Came back to the room at 11:00 PM – absolutely nothing had been done. Same running toilet, same leaking noisy AC, same collapsed bed. Called the front desk again and they just said “sorry, maintenance already went home for the night.” No offer of a room change, no apology, no solution. We had to stuff towels under the AC to stop the dripping and wear earplugs just to try and sleep. Second night wasn’t much better.
Save yourself the headache and book literally anywhere else. The Citrus Hotel is a hard pass. Management should be ashamed

Clean hotel, very disappointed the roof top bar was closed. I could have booked somewhere else for a lesser price but I choose this one primarily because it's right on the lake with a roof top bar. Nothing in the booking said it doesn't open until Wednesdays. No coffee available in the building, have to get dressed and go across the street to get coffee, very inconvenient!

The staff was wonderful, warm & courteous. The rooftop bar was fun & hanging out at the cigar lounge was nice. Nice setup of different places to go on the premises. The only two things that were an issue was that the mattress needed to be replaced (it kind of caved in towards the middle) & the area leading into one of the bathrooms was missing a transition threshold on the floor. I am sure that the hotel will take the necessary actions to replace both as it was brought to their attention before we checked out.

This area was a unique little enclave unto itself with a view of lake Dora.
We were on the 2nd floor of a 4 story during hurricane Debbie. During the night water started coming in to the closet area of our room soaking our clothes. The ceiling was previously water stained and patched, so this wasn’t just because of Debbie. Because this leak has not been corrected is the reason for the poor review. Otherwise it was a nice stay.

Our first room had a leaky mini split unit that drained all over the counter. They moved us rooms and the new room that had an under performing AC. Also sewer smell in the bathroom, shower did not regulate properly Freezing cold or scalding hot and ants crawling all over the bathroom counter. Lots of spider webs on lamp shades and in the corners of both rooms. Will not ever return. Staff was nice though

Mount Dora or bust!

A great find just minutes from Mount Dora. They have three buildings and we stayed in the furthest building from the main building. It was different but we got used to it. We had a balcony and a nice view of the lake. There was breakfast every day. The grounds are very nice. The only ding would be the pool. It needed vacuuming and I asked about that at the front desk, but it wasn’t done during our stay. The hotel is convenient to several restaurants, a nice park, a boardwalk of sorts along the lake, and community that is picturesque. If we ever come back to this area, we would most definitely stay here again

Stay here several times when visiting the area of Howey in the Hills. The rooms are spacious and clean and most rooms have great views of the lake. It's location is convenient in the middle of Tavares and short drive to Mount Dora .

Overall our stay was ok. There were a few things that were an inconvenient while traveling with our dog (10 lb shih-tzu). For one we weren't able to take her behind the main building in the large grassy area to sit and enjoy being outside. Although the hotel and surrounding areas were pet friendly, there were also alot of restrictions...inconvenient. The hotel has many restrictions as well, like giving 24 hour notice to have someone clean the room, or having to go pick up extra towels from the main building. Don't get me started on their towels...let's just say if you need a good exfoliation, their towels will do the job! The music was loud, however we enjoyed it, and they go inside at 10pm. Breakfast wasn't really advertised well, basically it's more of a \"vending\" continental breakfast. Our room could have been a little cleaner, especially the tile floors, but we've been in worse.
