The location was the best part of the stay (apart from the breakfast); right in the heart of Old Town and walking distance to everything. Our Uber had to drop us off a very short distance away necessitating us to lug our luggage for 40 secs or so. Not a big deal!

Removed 1 star because of a check-in snafu. The room given had 2 single beds (for a couple) because the hotel was fully booked and despite we making the reservations 3 months in advance. The room felt like a converted attic with the beds perpendicular to each other. There wasn't enough space to join them or bring them together. The shower was whole another issue with the showerhead so low that anyone above 5ft7in wouldn't be able to use it properly. We stayed for 2 nights but kept feeling the hotel stiffed us on the room with no compensation / the day manager not even bothering to come and talk to us.

The breakfast spread was good and sitting in the room facing the Astronomical Clock Tower was a treat in itself. Would have rated this 7/5 given the history of the building, amenities, location if not for the room issue.

Expedia Support was on point and worked with me quickly but they also couldn't do anything.

50 percent of the staff have zero personality.
Bed in the room much to soft had major back pain every day. Rooms are very small and need painting
Room was very cold. Went in December into January. Room was very noisy. You could hear people in the street from the third floor all night long. Sounded like they were in the room with us.
The hotel is located in a no car allowed location so it’s difficult to get to with luggage.
We travel with a service animal and they charged us 15 Euros per night for an additional pet cleaning fee, however for a five night stay only had the room cleaned once. Our service dog is only 14 lbs and hypoallergenic doesn’t shed.

Much to improve, in fact. First, it wasn’t clear that the hotel was directly across the astronomical clock and that the reception and the hotel itself were separated from each other. We ended up on the highest floor — with no elevator and a not welcoming porter. It would be great to have all this info upfront. We arrived late afternoon and took about half an hour to find the hotel through a Xmas market crowd. Even our iPhone gps couldn’t locate the place. The room was wonderful but after walking up for a good five minutes we’d rather stay in.

Good things: reception staff and cleaning staff were wonderful. Breakfast was great and staff there wonderful. Location would have been perfect if not for the daily crowd outside that block everything else.

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of old town. It is in front of the famous clock and it can be extremely crowded at times. The rooms are traditionally furnished. I enjoyed my stay!

We did the apartment. It was several blocks from the hotel. That was good and bad- being right on the square during Christmas market would have been crazy but the apartment was down a side alley that felt a little remote. The apartment itself was fairly nice. Big with nice living room. Bathroom was poorly lit with mirror off to the side making getting somewhat difficult. Not sure it was worth what we paid in the end. But nice.

Superior room is spacious and clean. All hotel staff is very friendly, helpful, knowledgable. Ready to answer question any time. Breakfast at Mozart cafe has a great seating with direct view at Famous Prague old town square Astronomical clock. Location of this hotel is very well centered, walking distance from shops, malls. Prague main train-station is accessible from the hotel to Vaclavske namestie on foot.

I had a wonderful stay here. The staff is excellent, the room clean and comfortable. It's a very convenient location for getting around town. Because it is in Old Town Square, it does get noisy. The double windows help a lot, but if you are a light sleeper, you will need something to block the sound of the folks having a good time late into the night.

The property was in a great walkable location in the Old Town. Lots of dining options and shops close by. However, due to this there was constant noise and people awake at all hours of the night slamming doors and partying. So a good nights sleep was difficult. The walls were pretty thin so you could hear your neighbours. The reception desk was unaware of any sort of upgrades or perks for VIP status. No iron or coffee in the room. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold items as well as desserts. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shower was in the centre of the wall, no curtain and a panel of glass at the far end. If you aren’t careful you’d easily spray water everywhere. Good hotel overall though

It was a horrible experience! We arrived and they told us they had over sold the hotel and they did not have a room for us. They had us go to a different hotel around the corner, but we paid for that hotel that was right there by the clock and are very disappointed that they would do that to us. It was the ultimate bait and switch. We bought and paid for a room at the Grand Hotel Praha, and we arrived and were told that we couldn’t stay there. To say we are disappointed and frustrated is an understatement.

The hotel is in an excellent area. We walked everywhere! The bed was comfy and our room (#214) had an almost perfect view of the Christmas market. If we had been one room over we could have seen the clock from our window. Biggest negative was the hot water. We rarely had any! We complained twice and apparently we were the only people in the hotel having the issue. Very strange and frustrating!! The bathroom was small with minimal storage space. There was no recognition of my VIP status. Not even a free drink like we got in hotel in Vienna.

Great location with almost immediate access to the old town square (100 feet). The room was very large and looked as if it was part of a palace. The downside is that was separate from the main hotel and had many stairs to climb (no elevator in this section), fortunately they do have porters available. The room could have been a bit cleaner (dust in places), but the price more than offset that minor detail.

Amazing historic building. Go to reception without your bags to see where your room is before you drag them up, then back down and over 20m to go back up 4 flights of stairs. Also, know there's a 50 koruna tax per night per person that's not included with your initial booking.

This hotel is right across from the clock which we loved being able to see with not many people there in the mornings. We stayed 7 night and really enjoyed the options close by to eat and drink along with walking distance to almost everything you would want to see. Room was clean and a very nice size. Breakfast was very good every morning with plenty of things to choose from. We were treated well by the staff and room keeping was always very good. Our only dislike was the stairs you had to climb up and down to get to your room, once you got there it was worth the climb but at 60 years old with bad knees it is something to consider. Long as you are able to walk up a lot of steps I fully recommend this hotel. We loved our stay and can't wait to get back to Prague.

Make sure you are in the main hotel

Whe you book a room through Hotels.com, just make sure your room will be in the main Hotel. In our case, the king size bed room booked by Hotels.com was in the annex, requiring climbing 4 flights of stairs. When we refused to do so, we were assigned a sinlge room in the main hotel, adding a second bed. No room to even go to the bathroom. The rate was not adjusted for the downzing, and Hotels.com did not provide any support. In fact, they did not even answer.

Loved this property. It is right in the center of Old Prague. It is in a very central locations. We were able to walk to many locations. The hotel is in a hostoric building. There is even a free breakfast. The only downfall was we were in the old historic part of the hotel. Which was fine except for the stairs. There is no elevator to this part of the hotel. And there are a lot of them.

When we checked in our room with a view had broken aircon. We were offered a room at the back and it was perfect. Quiet and clean although at the top if 3 flights of stairs. Bed was a bit hard but the room was clean. The best thing is the breakfast with great views of the astronomical clock. Location is great and staff very friendly.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite, which is amazing and worth the extra cost. There are stair in this place, but the porter carries your bags and makes it easy for you.
If you are driving in, once you get to the edge of the square, call the hotel and a porter will cross the square to find you and bring you and the bags to the hotel while another one takes you car to the garage. There is a fee for this parking, but it is rather reasonable.
The included breakfast has been by far the best we have had on this 3 week trip. Highly recommend this place!

Don’t stay in the luxury apartment

Stayed in the “luxury” apartment. Wasn’t aware that it was on the 5th floor with no lift in the building. No assistance with baggage. The room itself was fine but no view. Breakfast was sufficient. The only real positive is that once you’re settled, you’re in the best location to explore the city. Would not stay again.

We booked a deluxe room and requested a room with the view of the clock tower.
When we arrived at the property, the desk person confirmed that the room (214) assigned to us had a view of the clock.
However, this was incorrect. For various reasons, we suspect that room 214 was not the room originally assigned to us.

The room was tiny. We paid more for our little room than our friends who had a room five times the size of ours. The room was located directly across from the clock and above the bar with incredibly loud drunk patrons hours past midnight. We notified the front desk two days before we would be vacating to an airport hotel for an early flight, and they charged us for the last night we didn't stay. They were horrible. Located on a pedestrian square with a two block walk over cobblestone streets so you have to drag your luggage to them.

87 steps to get to our room, no elevator in our side of the hotel (for someone with knee problems this is an issue). Black out curtains ineffectual. No tissues provided, toilet paper from the Soviet-era. Staff seemed indifferent except for the room cleaning staff—they were eager to get into the room to clean. Hotel is conveniently located.

Convenient, nice Breakfast. Antique which was fine but musty. Description says elevator-deceiving-only goes up a floor and a half. Don’t book if you have trouble going up steps. Tremendous amount of steps so needed to change rooms and were put in a cracker box room. VIP hotel and Expedia gold customer but no amenities and no upgrade. Lied to us when 3 clerks said that they would credit us a night stay because we had to leave early. Told them at check in and 2 other days that we had to leave 1 day early from our 5 night stay.
Messaged them after checkout because no credit received. They lied again and said that it’s the first they heard of the issue. We wouldn’t stay there again.

We chose an \"annex room\" because it was larger but were not told the annex room is 500 meters from the reception desk. Since the reception desk is in a no-cars-allowed zone, we walked 500 meters to get to reception then another 500m to get to the room. Once at the room we realized we could have driven right to the door had we known.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in the old medieval part of the city with lots of restaurants. If you don’t mind cobbled stone streets and at times big crowds then this is for you. It was about 8-10 minutes walk to the river. I wasn’t a fan of the bed. Very good breakfast was offered.

Location, location, location!
Our windows were to the street and it blocked outside noise pretty well.
If you need a nail file, the toilet paper could serve as one.
Decent breakfast (wish there were more fresh fruits).
Everything around the old town square is ridiculous expensive, but this hotel puts you in the middle of everything.

We stayed in the Apostolic suit room and it was pretty big, but uncomfortable. It had a view of the square and clock. Because it was one of the most expensive rooms, I had higher expectation.

Cons
No elevator in the building we stayed (there are two buildings).
The bathroom was very small and not up to date. Two people couldn’t fit in the shower, toilet closet door was close to knees.
Prices for drinks inside the mini fridge were high.
Couch in the room is uncomfortable, didn’t care much for the bed.

During our last breakfast, we showed up and there were no plates, I tracked down a employe and asked for it, get to eggs, there is none, I go track another employee, get to the table no forks, go look around the buffet, no forks. For a third time I go track someone down, only this time she seemed very bothered with my request. Little things like that takes any positive away.

I wouldn’t stay here again. You pay for location and that’s about it.

Grand Hotel Praha is in the old town area and opposite the astronomical clock.So if you have breakfast at the right time, you can watch the apostles march in the clock up close:). The services of the young receptionist and bellboy were amazing. However, the receptionist who checked us in was unfriendly. They promised a pickup, but they never came. Remember, there is no direct drop-off in front of the property. you have to drag your boxes across teh cobbled stones. We were provided an apartment a few metres away and had all the facilities. It was old but really clean and well-kept. It was a big property.

Perfect Location for Christmas Markets

This hotel is AMAZING. We splurged on this hotel because of the location. We could see the clock RIGHT OUTSIDE our window. We opened the window at night and enjoyed a glass of wine in the room while listening to the enchanting musical Christmas tree. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was immaculate. The only warning is that if you drive a car into Prague, the parking is very difficult so be aware that you need to take this into consideration and let the staff know you are arriving before you get there. They will tell you where to meet the porter and help you with your luggage. There is no on-site parking.

Best location, very nice breakfast and most staff very nice and helpful. For us unfortunately we were given
a very small, 2 twin beds room with no windows when we arrived. We paid for a superior room with a king or queen bed. When we checked in we were told that because we checked in at 6pm they gave our room away. ?????

The next morning we received what we paid for. They also promised that our bill would be adjusted, but upon check out it was not done.
We would like to see some sort of resolution/refund for the first night.

Our room had a great view overlooking the clock and square. Only complaint were all the stairs getting up to the room but it is an old building and there’s no elevator for luggage. I would stay again though!

Excellent hotel in the heart of old town! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, the room was spacious and had great views on old town square, and the bed was comfortable as well! The breakfast was delicious every morning, all in all a great stay!

I had booked 4 superior rooms. When we got there, the room we got was on the 3rd floor, no elevator, with the option of giving us a better room the next day , it never came to pass. At night the temperature was up to 27 C, Reception didn’t know what to do. They gave me the key to a room which was already occupied!! Reception staff was ‘very sorry’ but no one could help us.
Breakfast was good and wholesome
Sorry that I went there, was very disappointed

This property is right in the center of everything, it is a really nice place. Our room was not operational the first day and had to stay in the building next door, but our bags were moved there and back. I really enjoyed staying here, and would highly recommend it. It is in the center of everything so expect a lot of people.
