Staff was beyond responsive. The main problem was toxic gas. Someone in the city releases it and it gets sucked into their ac. At 4am one night and 1pm the next it happened. Not just smelly, dangerous. Made me ill. I had to keep the ac off most of the time. The hall also stunk the first morning. They changed the air freshener. Not sure if that was just covering up an issue. They came into my room and checked the unit even though I tried to explain that it was probably a system/city wide issue. My side of the hall just had views of a parking lot. They also upcharge too much for tours and taxis. $53 for a taxi to the airport. I overpaid at $35 coming to them.

Okay Stay - Hotel is Clean But...

Hotel is in a great location and is in relatively good condition for its age. Service was good as well and hotel was clean for the most part. I did not try their restaurant.

However, I did find a Bed Bug in my bed and had a few bites on my back from it. Thankfully there was only one and the hotel offered me to change rooms, free breakfast etc. to compensate. Decided to stay in my room after they cleaned it and did not have an issue the second night

Everything was excellent except one staff member who spoke to me with arrogance throughout my stay. He is at the front desk and his name is Ramses or something similar. When I first checked in he spoke to me with an arrogant tone and I was met with the same tone upon checkout. I didn't appreciate his attitude. Absolutely amazing hotel! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. I want to give a special shout-out to Mohamad at the reception bar — I had an issue with my suitcase not opening, and as soon as I mentioned it, he immediately asked me to bring it over. He managed to open it right away and even offered me a lock from his own pocket. Such kindness and helpfulness are truly rare!

The hotel is extremely safe, spotlessly clean, and the food is delicious. Don’t miss the breakfast — it’s one of the best I’ve ever had!

Highly recommended in every way. I would definitely come back!

The hotel staff was very nice and charming. The area was easy to walk around for dining and museum activities — a perfect stay in Cairo. The room was clean and quiet, and I had a patio overlooking the pool, which was a nice feature, though unfortunately bird droppings kept me from using it. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you’re visiting the Cairo area.

I would give 4.5 stars if possible. This hotel was great. Staff was friendly and professional. Hotel itself was very clean, upgraded and comfortable. The breakfast was also amazing, best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. Its crazy how many food options there are, and some meals change every day so breakfast isn’t always the exact same. You can even ask the chef to make you an omelette.

The only reason I give the hotel 4/5 stars is because you can hear the traffic a bit at night. I’m a light sleeper but I was okay with ear plugs. The staff also said they have a plan in place to add in sound proof/double pane windows to reduce the noise, so thats awesome. The last thing is T.V. wise theres no apps like Netflix or anything haha. So I didn’t watch T.V. because it was all local channels. Having the option to wind down watching at.V. after a day out in the heat would have been nice.

But yeah, amazing property and I would 100% stay there again next time I’m in Cairo. I felt super safe, taken care of and welcome. Thanks!

The Steigenberger was disappointing. The rooms, lobby & facilities are nice -- but that's where it ends. The service is extremely poor. Whether it was the front desk, concierge, or the restaurant, I dealt with constant miscommunication and the staff's poor judgment. It did not seem that the staff was trained to handle basic requests. I often had to ask the same thing multiple times, and still would not get a satisfactory response. For example, when I asked about how to get to Memphis (a popular tourist destination), I was transferred multiple times and then the front desk gave me directions to the Giza pyramids. I asked the concierge for where to go for dinner in Zamalek, and he gave me a name of the street--but not a restaurant name or address. The restaurant workers seemed entirely confused. My first night, the waitress said I couldn't charge to my room and then she insisted that someone would \"go to my room and get my credit card\" (she meant someone would follow me to my room, but she did not say that, and in any event that would have been ridiculous and insulting to treat guests like dine-and-dash thieves). The quality of food at the restaurant was terrible, esp. their attempts at international food. The location has no value because it is impossible to walk around in the area due to traffic. The manager of the hotel was nice and apologetic, but unfortunately that was not enough for me to give this hotel more than 2 stars. I had a bad experience and was relieved to leave.

This was a great hotel - felt like a calm within the storm that is Cairo! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, would say security are a bit intense with checking whoever comes to pick you up (to make sure that you are being picked up by someone legit!) but definitely gave us peace of mind so I didn't mind it. Breakfast was good, but nothing special. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable! Overall, would thoroughly recommend.

A good hotel except for the tour and excursions manager, who sent me on a 45 minute taxi ride to the ‘pyramids light show’when it wasn’t even on, after i’d asked him on three different occasions to confirm that it was on that night, which he did.Fortunately I had an understanding taxi driver who brought me back to the hotel,after being with him for nearly two hours. An evening wasted. The next day I told the excursions manager about his mistake he just smirked and offered no apology.Not good enough ! All he had to do was to call the show to see if it was on.
If this happens to you always independently check first !
Otherwise a very pleasant stay there.

The worst custimer service in the whole of Egypt. Upon arriving at the Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir in Cairo, Egypt, we initially booked due to five-star ambiance. However, our experience was subsequently marred by several significant issues that detracted from our stay. The cuisine was notably bland and overpriced. Throughout our four-day stay, the menu consistently lacked meat dishes, limiting dining options.Service Conduct: During both breakfast and dinner, managers were observed reprimanding staff, neglecting guest service in the process.Room Service Efficiency: Orders often took over 90 minutes to arrive, indicating inefficiencies in service delivery.Noise Disturbance: Our room faced a street with exceptionally heavy traffic. Persistent honking from 6 AM until 2-3 AM disrupted our rest. The hotel did not offer an alternative room, attributing the disturbance to the location. Room cleaning services frequently failed to replace towels and replenish tea and sugar supplies, necessitating repeated requests. Despite explaining our situation, my husband and I were unwell and had a 'Do Not Disturb' sign displayed for three days. Management repeatedly called our room, despite explaining our need for rest, the calls persisted until we disconnected the phone. pon checkout, I requested assistance with our six bags, emphasising our need to depart promptly for the airport. After 40 minutes, four phone calls, and a visit to reception, a staff member arrived without a trolley.

Brilliant location, right next to Tahrir Square, Sadat Metro has great links to other lines and the main train station and other destinations. Next to Champollion Street that has a great cheap laundrette, Abu Tarek Koshary (Cairo's only veg restaurant - possibly) and cheap good take away 'Alkhwaja Aldemashqy'. Amazing breakfast buffet with lots of choice, loved the biryani for breakfast.
Machine in the lobby easily converts £ and $ to Egyptian pounds at a great rate, easy to use!
Negatives - staff only seemed to be interested if they can make money out of you such as avoiding booking you a cheap Uber taxi and not supplying a spare USB lead to recharge the phone. This is the only hotel I have been to that does not have spare leads in the back office for customers.

Lovely hotel in a good location

Lovely hotel - excellent location for all main activities in and around Cairo. The hotel is very secure - checks on all vehicles entering. Tour guides could find the hotel easily.
Good choice of restaurants in the hotel. Live music in the bar in the evenings - very good. Room was comfortable.
Only downside was the pool is very small and very noisy - despite the screening around it, it's impossible not to hear the Cairo traffic.

Wow this is the must stay property in Cairo! The hotel has it’s own little gated driveway and security which makes you feel VERY safe!

The hotel is in a great location, walkable to The Egyptian Museum. Lots of eats and shops around also.

The room was very comfortable and had great room amenities. We hung out at the pool twice and it was really lovely and has a nice bar with food options.

The gym is quite nice for a hotel gym! We enjoyed the weights, machines, and cardio equipment.

The best part of this hotel might just be their breakfast buffet!! Absolutely the best hotel buffet (maybe even just buffet period!) TONS of options!

Stay here while in Cairo! The staff will make you feel very welcome and you won’t want to leave!

However, the hotel's downtown location provides convenience, as it's right around the corner from the Egyptian Museum. Very good location right next to the El Tahrir square. Very pleasant experience on check-in: we arrived early and were not forced to wait for the check-in time. Not big but comfortable room. Safe box, iron and the board in the closet, sitter in the corridor that can be used also as a luggage rack, shoe cleaning set and a shoehorn. Fridge, kettle, tea, coffee. Excellent service.
To close the room door one must really push it hard. My wife couldn’t close it. Slow internet, WhatsApp and Wi-Fi calling didn’t work. The VPN is blocked. All fixtures in the bathroom were loose ready to fall at the first rough touch. The mirror had integrated lights that didn’t work, making shaving a challenge because the main lights were on your back putting a shadow on your face. No heating in the room, though we were offered a portable heater. A/C and fresh air coming from outside worked. Very unpleasant view on half crumbled building in a bad shape and full of construction garbage on the street.
