Stay here because it’s a vibe skip the checkin queues and snack on an anaconda or 2 at check in. Highly recommended.

What a chilled lovely place to stay do close to the CBD. We were looked after by excellent staff. Room comfortable snd breakfast plentiful. . Help yourself to tea and coffee 24/7. Staff at reception 24/7. Lobby bar lovely. Rooftop bar is ok but most cocktails are from a tin. The Shadow restaurant next door does great cocktails and is owed by the same people.

I know the desired \"vibe\" is that of a cozy, quaint accommodation, but I would rather have less cozy and more comfort and convenience. There's no mini fridge, and our room had only one chair. There was only a bar along the wall to hang clothes. The bathroom was quite large. I'd rather have less bathroom and more room. An upgrade was suggested at check-in for a room with a balcony, but as I saw from the outside, the balconies were tiny and IMO not worth the extra $. I have stayed in many hotels and motels, and I have never been charged for a continental breakfast. For $20+, the charge seemed way out of line - especially for such a limited selection.
Having said all that, I really liked the sitting/lounge area. The access to a variety of complimentary beverages was much appreciated.
The staff were very pleasant, and the location is very convenient for transportation and eats. It's a short walk to the CBD. As much as it seems I have complained, we did enjoy our stay. Still though, it wouldn't take much to make it an exceptional hotel. Make the rooms more accommodating - add a chair. Add a minifridge. Put in an armoire. Provide a complimentary continental breakfast. Really... those are little things that would make a big difference.

Staff were great … amenities not so much. We didn’t get the upgrade that we were supposed to as rewards members, but they tried to upsell us on an upgrade which we declined. Then we found out that there are no fridges in the rooms only a communal fridge which for the middle of Perth seems a little strange. Finally on getting to the room…. Let’s just say that you shouldn’t share the room with anyone that you aren’t intimately acquainted with because the toilet door is literally a piece of glass. There is no separation between bathroom and room except for that glass.

Overall, it’s a decent stay but I’m not sure we will be back.

The location is literally perfect - everything's a walk away, from cafes to landmarks.

The shared lounge space is super chill too. And HUGE shoutout to whoever curates the playlist 🎶 - it's _chefs kiss_! Perfect vibes.

One tiny thing - as I travelled from NZ, adjusting to the timezone took a bit of doing, but the hotel's central location definitely helped me make the most of my days.

Would totally stay here again. If you're looking for central + comfy, this one's a winner.

I had a great stay. Relatively quiet despite being close to the hustle and bustle of the city and bars; centrally located; easy in and out; and the rooms were small but well stocked. Close to tons of food and entertainment options. Will definitely be choosing Alex Hotel first if a need arises to repeat my visit.

A great base. Very clean hotel which met all our needs. We got used quickly to the lack of a closet and managed without. There was a cupboard next to our room with access to ironing boards and irons. We liked having access to the rooftop bar and mezzanine floor to relax. The free hot drinks and bottles of water were a welcome bonus. We’d thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This is a fantastic hotel. So central and close to everything. We have been to this hotel before so we booked it again. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. The room was large and very clean and had everything you needed. The rooftop is amazing to sit with your morning coffee or a drink. This hotel is highly recommended.

We booked a Grand room which was an extremely basic room, no fridge in room just a bed, chair & little table, bench seat/shoe rack , bedside cabinets & TV . It felt like an upmarket Backpackers accommodation. No parking had to park in Wilson's parking next door at an added cost. The staff were fantastic very friendly & helpful.

The rooms were very small but surprisingly quiet considering the location. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby and only a short walk into the city centre or train station. No tea and coffee facilities in the room but can be accessed in the communal eating area. Overall it has a great vibe and good location.

The hotel is in a prime location and the hotel itself is really nice.
I probably didn’t read the facilities properly but no coffee or tea facilities in my room was a big deal for me. My day starts after coffee and I don’t want to go out of my room for it or wait till the staff open up for breakfast. I’m an early riser.
Staff were lovely, I like having 24hr reception.

Very noisy location - hotel surrounded by bars and clubs pumping out loud music until 4am. Police needed to disperse crowds at 430am. Sleeping drunks and tramps littering the street outside the hotel next morning. Room has little amenity - no safe, no tea or coffee making, no wardrobe

Hotel lobby and the common area was nicely done. Friendly staff. However would not recommend staying here on the weekend. There was incredibly loud music from the nightclub around until 1 am. Yes earplugs were provided but it certainly does not drown out the excessive noise. Shower area was not properly sealed off either so water flows onto the bathroom floor. I’d stay somewhere else next time.

Lovely boutique hotel in a great location with wonderful staff, all at a very reasonable price. The hotel is in the Northbridge area with abundant and varied eateries to cater for every palate. The area comes alive at the the weekend with live music venues. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from Perth train station and close to many places of interest. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

We stayed 6 nights. Great hotel. Great location. The staff are all friendly & helpful. The lounge/common areas are comfortable, inviting & well presented. The breakfast is great. The bar has interesting & good cocktails. Walking distance to central station, museums, RAC Arena (where we saw Kylie Minogue's concert), the city CBD area, & James & William Streets are full of restaurants well worth trying such as Francoforte, Munchy Monk, & Lucky Chan's. We didn't get to try the hotel's restaurant for dinner, but it looked great & will try it when we return. Thank you so much for a great stay, we will be back.

The uniqueness of this modern boutique hotel has its own characters.

It is not easy for me in the first few hours trying to figure where the basic appliances located such as kettle and ironing equipment, but once you get used to the hotel’s system, it is all fine. (Note that it may not be ideal for senior travelers with walking problems because it requires guests to go up and down just to get a basic item like hot drinking water).

Nevertheless, the property itself is very clean and the room is spacious; the open rooftop area and 24/7 coffee machine are other good features of the hotel. And yes, the delicious bakery items from Common Bakery Freo available for the guests to enjoy is a big plus! Located in the lively suburb Northridge where all is happening in Perth city, with the bars, restaurants and entertainment venues, it is a convenient spot but of course as expected with the common noise and safety issues at night times in an area like this.

If I like to say one area for improvement it can be the professionalism of the hotel staff. Although the hotel might be trying to create a carefree and relaxing vibe, the basic still requires from the staff such as the greetings (and put a smile on) to the hotel guests. It does not cost you a thing by showing this basic customer service quality.

Overall it is an enjoyable stay for me and it is likely that I will choose this hotel again for my next stay in Perth city.

The $10 Daily Housekeeping Credit needs reviewing

Lovely hotel in the heart of Northbridge. My only criticism is their $10 Food and Beverage Credit that is awarded each night you refuse housekeeping for your room. When I checked out the credit was never applied to my bill (I had $29 worth of drinks and $30 of credits so I should not have been charged) and the guy never told me I was being charged this $29. When I discovered the charge a few days later after I checked back in for a week, and queried it, I was informed I should have informed them at check out to have the $30 credit applied against my bill. And that it was now too late to go back and refund me the $29 I was charged. I’m sorry but the hotel should automatically apply the credit and not wait for the guest to ask them to do so - this is rather sneaky and makes a mockery of this $10 scheme. I won’t be bothering to avail of this for the rest of my stay after checking back in.

So many things are good here - friendliness of staff, eco-friendliness, and condition of hotel. But I had a room that was in a corner of the hotel without internet access, so every time I wanted to use the computer, I had to go to the common area on the first floor. Not convenient for sure, particularly as a business traveler. The rooms also have very limited storage (i.e. no closest or drawers), so when you're there for a week, you have to \"live out of a suitcase\" - no fun. Fortunately they provided a temporary desk, as the room doesn't come with that basic item.

Biggest complaint was that the hotel room itself was missing a fridge of some sort. I brought a few drinks with me but had no way to keep them cool!

Awesome little hotel

Super little hotel, it was odd to have no fridge in the room but the commual fridge on level was very well managed. I liked how this hotel encourages communication with other guests by way of the commual facilties at breakfast time. Its an awesome little hotel especially for solo travellers. We were a group of 9, middle aged travellers, so we like the nicer things in life and this little hotel met those requirements really well. Centrally located, close to the train station and all the shops. Shopping was a breeze.

Incredibly noisy with no warning that the room would be noisy. The ear plugs in the room were probably an indicator. With the room directly opposite a beer garden/night club the noise in the room was terrible. I’d paid for a larger room but looking at the floor plan I should have saved my money to avoid the larger rooms placed at the front of the hotel. The door, that in the advertisement appeared to lead to an outdoor verandah didn’t lead anywhere. The tiles in the bathroom were quite dirty and the toliet only flushed when both buttons were pressed. Quite disappointing given the price tag as I’d read about the hotel.

Loved the Alex Hotel, would totally recommend. As a solo traveller the small room size was perfect. Loved the communal areas, the decor, and the roof top area to enjoy a wine and the sunset. Really convenient to train station and to pickup locations for day trips out of perth. Great location.
