Great location.

This hotel is all about the location, which is excellent. The little garden in the middle of the hotel is a nice place to hang out. The rooms themselves are pretty old and worn. For example, the sink tap had to be turned to just the right point for it to not drip. However the bed was comfortable. Even though the description of the hotel said there is a pool, we weren’t really expecting one, given its location. It’s a good thing we didn’t book there because it had a pool because it definitely does not have one!

Quiet retreat

A little haven in very busy City 😀 & so handy for rail station - wished we had found it sooner! Our room was lovely - decorated with sun/moon painting on wall, clean towels & bed linen & all co-ordinated. Flasks of hot water for self serve tea/coffee on each floor. Lovely courtyard

A nice place close to a lot of things. Because it is near major attractions, like malioboro and the station, it was a but loud at night. But overall a good hotel with pleasant staff.

Great location, friendly staff, access to daytrips

We stayed 3 days here in this lovely hotel with a courtyard just off Maliboro street and walking distance to train station. It’s a quiet, clean retreat with excellent access to affordable and reliable day trip options through Mister Tom who is always able to drive whether it’s sunsets or sunrise at nearby temples. There’s always tea and coffee out for guests and the breakfast is yummy. Train to/from Jogja is easy walking distance with luggage (right out gate 2). Lots of nearby eateries. We would definitely stay again,

Terrible experience. the room has bed bugs. Roof is leaking and walls have signs of mould. Room is dark. Toilet has terrible smell. We have to close the door but the smell still comes out. Terrible, terrible experience. Won't stay there again.

Cute, affordable place

The hotel is in a great location - in an alley so off the busy streets which also allows it to be decently quiet. Yes, there is a mosque a few buildings down but our room was upstairs and we slept with the windows shut and were not awoken by the mosque. The room was a bit worn. The walls could be repainted and the bedding could be replaced but the hotel had its own charm. The staff were wonderful; very accommodating and I loved ordered my breakfast the night before for a specific time and there it was delivered to the table and chairs outside the room on time.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was clean with an huge comfortable bed. I came to see the temples which were amazing and this hotel gave me the platform to do that. It is not in a great area - but mostly backpackers stay there.

The little village in a backpacker's area.

This little budget hotel provides, breakfast, tour bookings (as well as for the Ramanaya ballet) and airport transfer services. It is near other tour agencies, train station, the main shopping strip, restaurants and pubs and plenty of becak around. Convenient, comfortable, cosy.

You can hear planes, announcements and train horns as the station is near by. It feels like a village than a hotel with wooden furnishing which is old and feels run-down.

The service is great, friendly, i like it. Highly recommend it.

Interesting hotel with pretty courtyard area

Liked the location, simple but uniquely painted rooms, and price but it's directly under the airport flight path and close to the train station, so kind of noisy. Breakfast was just ok and only had instant coffee. Instant creamer ran out and was never replaced during my remaining 2 days.

Pleasant but overpriced hotel near train station

Very nice grounds and ambiance. Pretty gardens, koi pond and a nice second floor rooftop eating area. I got off the train and within ten minutes had walked to the hotel, checked in and was taking a shower. Comfortable bed and good bathroom. Good A/C. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is free tea and coffee available all the time. There was no TV in the room or any chairs. There is a large construction project next door and mosques nearby so count on an early wakeup. The hotel has a free left luggage locker and also a travel agency which you may want to comparison shop a bit before using. The wifi is good in common areas but not in the rooms. Overall a little bit overpriced especially considering lack of TV but a good and comfortable hotel.

Close to train, quiet

Close to Yogya station.
Like to stay across the alley but they were full. Hotel 1001 Malam is pleasant enough, quite, simple, basic, nice garden and pond. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of mozzies.

Simple breakfast provided but the nasi lady in the alley does a cracking assortment of things to have on rice in a banana leaf either as breakfast or as a good takeaway for the train etc.

It was my first visit to Yogyakarta and when I return I will definately be staying at 1001 Malam Hotel as it exceeded my expectations as far as location and willingness from Hotel staff to ensure my visit was went as smoothlyu as possible.....all staff were extremely helpful and Mamad was my \"go to man\" in rergards to information about the area!!

Nice environment but not very clean

The environment of the hotel very nice with trees and pool at the centre. There are a small public corner for self making coffee/tea as well. The staff are nice too. But the room not very clean with the bedsheets seems unchanged & old. My hubby was bite by some insects at night caused his leg swelled & pain. Think it should be some bed bugs on the dirty bedsheets. And they never clean our room at all within our stays. The dustbin is putting outside and never be clean even the rubbish is full and out of the dustbin.

Incredible value for the money

The staff were very helpful. The green courtyard provides an oasis from the busy streets of Yogyakarta. The lane way gives you a wonderful example of locals living their lives and provides a buffer from the downtown streets.

Lovely staff, I really enjoyed the banana pancake for breakfast, the bathroom was clean and the shower refreshing, the room was really sweet (great combination of modern and 'Indonesian getaway'). The construction site nearby was sometimes annoying but that wasn't a problem at night thankfully. Room for price, you could probably find better but with a 5min walk from Malioboro and the train station, it makes life easier - great access to the city. A good place for solo getaways, couples and small groups of friends as a chilled place to stay.

Less than 5min walk from Jl. Malioboro

Welcomed by very friendly staff. They helped to arrange for local tours (tip: book your tours when you are there to save money!). They also offer airport pick-up/drop-off.

Wifi works fine. Room was clean and bed was comfy, no complaint. Breakfast is freshly cooked (you get a choice of pancakes, sandwich or fried rice) and delivered to your room every morning at a time of your choice. Room is well-maintained. No pool or TV, although that might not be a bad thing in itself. Best thing was, hot water and utensils were provided so tea/coffee were available 24/7.

It's located in the middle of an international hostels area in an alley, so need to be dropped off in front of the main street, i.e. cars can't get to the entrance. Just bear that in mind. However, good thing is that it is very quiet at night, even though the location is so close to the heart of all the actions!

Location-wise, it can't get any better as it is located to the north/start of Jl. Malioboro. Local food/shopping abounds, and close to a few supermarkets/mall as well, so it's very convenient to do shopping and to get food.

Highly recommended for the price and location.

This is an interesting and comfortable budget hotel. We were entirely comfortable in an air conditioned room. Room was small but had a safe and TV. The staff was very accommodating, breakfast was served on a little table right outside of our room.

Breakfast took half an hour to be served, staff found that funny when we complained.Hotek asked to have the bill paid in cash but when i refused strangely the credit card facility would not work so had to go to a atm with a staff member to get them cash, staff also thought this laughable.Stayed for three nights ,second night bed not made ,towels not changed room not serviced.

Hotel 1001 Malam - Clean & Comfortable

My girlfriends and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. While there are no facilities like a swimming pool or an in-house restaurant, it does not really matter because there are many eating places near by. The staff are also friendly and would offer their advice on places to go, transport etc.

The location is also very close to the main shopping area where there is a mall and many shops selling batik. Also around the area are many roadside food stalls.

The bed in the room is really comfy and I have no problems falling sound asleep every night. As it is away from the main street, there are also no excessive vehicle noises.

If you have to wake up early and leave the hotel before 7.30am (when they start serving breakfast), be prepared to take your own instead as they don't cater to orders before this time. An overall pleasant and comfortable stay.

Great character hotel set in a lane which also exudes charm.
If you want a modern, spotless hotel room with all the mod cons, don't come here.
On the other hand if you want a hotel that is a little different, and could only be in South East Asia, that is comfortable without being glitzy - and has great staff who aim to help where they can, then don't go past this place. It was more than just a place to sleep!

Hotel 1001 Malam - A hidden away hotel

It is hard to find the Hotel 1001 Malam. The address actually points to an alleyway, which you walk down to find the Hotel 1001 Malam, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Yogyakarta's streets.

For the money, you could possibly do better if you were to scout around locally for a place. Around the area, there are many hotels... but you won't be able to book many of those online. So, for a cheap option, the Hotel 1001 Malam suffices and it is a short walk away from the touristy market strip and shopping centres.

The actual hotel is fine. The bathroom is a bit basic - a combined shower and toilet. However the bed and the main room was clean and with effective air conditioning. There is no TV, and the WiFi internet is a bit iffy depending on room location.

Right across from the hotel on the other side of the alley is a small restaurant which is cheap, and serves cobra and python. They have WiFi for customers too.

The receptionist and staff were very helpful and friendly. They have tours you can take as well. Judging from the clientele, it seems like this is one of the most popular online hotels, which is filled with international guests.

For online bookings, I am not sure there is anywhere cheaper. It's not a Hilton, but for most easygoing travellers, this should suffice.

Special thanks to the staff. They helped us a lot with laundry in house or even late check out. Each people working in this hotel is trying to give you the best experience. It is super close from the station (3mn walking just across the road) but very very quiet also all night and day activities are close. It is an amazing charming hotel with a lot of wood and internal garden. Coffee or tea is free at any hour. I strongly recommend this play for a short of even a long stay. Excellent WiFi connection and clean bathroom. Hats off for the good work and warm welcoming

古民家風の家。中庭が吹き抜けで、開放感がある庶民的な安～中級宿

テーブルが室内にあればなおよろし、と言う感じですが、中庭に面したところ部屋の前の廊下にテーブルとイスがあり、ゆったりとくつろげるので私は結構好きです。（ビジネス出張向きではないですが。）また、２Ｆは街を見下ろせる感じになっていて快適です。何もしない時間をすごしたかったので、このホテルで大成功だと思っています。ふらっとガンⅠ、がんⅡを散歩したり、夜も不安なく過ごせました。
