Quiet relaxing hotel with great pool.

The hotel was about a 30 minute drive from the city centre.. Many Grab mopeds in the area. The hotel itself was nice with an excellent swimming pool, really a great place to relax and chill! Would recommend the hotel but the city itself.....🙈

The hotel is very well maintained and the rooms are in separate blocks a short walk through the (lovely) garden to the restaurant and pool beyond. It is in a colonial style and sits off the main country road which is busy and has a mosque so be aware of the calls to pray. There is nowhere worth walking outside, but otherwise this is a very relaxing retreat. 🙂

I booked 1 bedroom family suite and they gave me a studio.
I am not happy for not getting what I paid.
After I spoke to the The front desk, she told me that the room that I booked from Expedia was a studio and that’s what they gave me.
She was very short and just want to ended the conversation by telling me to call them again if I still have a problem without tried to find the issues or trying to resolve the issues.

After my check in review submitted. Apparently the owner of the facility trying to spoke to my brother whom I booked the room for regarding my review.

I traveled at least 4 times a year domestic and internationally mostly booked my hotel through the Expedia. Year’s been using the Expedia, this is only 2nd times that I have an issues with the hotel that I booked.

Beside issues with the room, I think they were happy with their stays.

The property if very relaxing and scenic embedded in a forest like setting reflective of the natural beauty of Sumatra.
It is about 40-45 mins from downtown Medan but that didn’t bother us. Grab drivers are widely available and cost effective plus you really don’t need to go back and forth.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and the owners provide a somewhat personalized touch to your stay, checking up on us, ensuring everything is to our satisfaction.

Hidden gem in Medan

Lovely hotel. A real delight. Attractive grounds with trees & shrubs and even 3 geese! Really nice clean swimming pool.
Good service and decent food although we felt it was a little expensive, and not really anywhere else you could walk to easily for dinner.

Amazing escape from the busy city!

Absolutely floored by our experience here. It was so relaxing to escape the urban madness of Medan and relax in a little oasis. The hotel grounds are surrounded by natural beauty, touched with historic European/Indonesian charm, and a perfect place for families. The staff was professional, kind, and the owners were fantastic people. Next time we are in Medan, we are coming back!

A Welcoming Oasis of Calm

Amazing staff, very welcoming, some of the best I've ever seen, and with a good restaurant. They have put in a lot of thought as to how to make the stay better for their guests including giving you insect repellant when at the restaurant to keep the mosquitos away (necessary). They've also implemented a few sustainability changes, such as a water bottle that can be refilled at the restaurant, and refillable toiletries, which are both great changes to normal practice.

The hotel is a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility in a very busy and hectic city. Would definitely recommend it.

The only drawback is the local area, a busy and polluted city with traffic jams nearly constantly. Away from the city and you can soon get into rural life, which I much prefer, Lake Toba and Sipiso-Piso waterfall are spectacular!

Very nice hotel with great staff and good food

On our 2nd night there, at about 10.00pm, one of my grandson had every high fever and I called the front desk to ask whether they can get a doctor to come and in 15 minutes the owner and the doctor was at the door. Thanks to the doctor, the next day he was himself again. The following day we were able to carry on with our travel to Lake Toba.
We hoped the hotel staff, owner and the doctor are able to see this,

A real hidden paradise

Head south down the narrow cluttered main road out of Medan, and you wonder what you’re coming to - but the surprise is wonderful. Turn off the road, and you head down into a verdant garden valley, with the main Hotel and restaurant on one side, and the ‘cottages’ on the other (actually small mini duplexes, each with its own balcony). Rooms are restrained and stylish, with plenty of local touches, and the level of equipment is good, as is the Wi-fi (sadly, unusual for Indonesia where speeds are often slow or minimal). I didn’t have time to try the restaurant, as my Indonesian hosts were determined to squeeze every last minute out of my 2 day/3 night stay. But breakfasts were a delight, served on the airy terrace and featuring plenty of local ingredients, from fresh tropical fruit to home made pineapple muffins and vegetable spring rolls. Strongly recommended for a relaxing getaway not too far from the bustle of Medan city

Great and relaxing stay in Sumatra!

Staying at Deli River Hotel was surprisingly pleasant due to the nice natural settings. I enjoyed the food of the restaurant that was always fresh and tasty. Furthermore, a note of appreciation goes to the staff who was always kind and keen to solve any problem. I would definitely recommend spending a couple of days in Deli river hotel!

Seclusion in a frenetic city

This wonderful country hotel is recently built and offers comfortable secluded accomodation in an otherwise busy city. Rooms are built in small units on the side of a small valley, on the opposite side is the restaurant complex and beyond that a pool and small terraced garden with views of the Deli river. The staff are extremely helpfull and friendly, the food was excellent and if you needed it there is a convenience store nearby with atm. This hotel provides an excellent oportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of Medan while retaining the option of a short taxi ride to its centre.

Oasis in Medan

Medan has very few redeeming features, being just the gateway to Sumatra's wilderness attactions, but if you have to stop there then Deli River Hotel is an oasis in a hell-hole! It's a hotel you really need to spend several days/nights in to get the most out of it. The grounds are gorgeous, and when you're floating in the lovely swimming pool, you can almost not notice you're in a noisy, polluted, chaotic city. Their associated travel company provided a very good vehicle and excellent driver for a two day trip we took to a specific area of interest south of Medan.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Deli River! A refuge from the hectic traffic and activity of the neighborhood and the city. Rooms were comfortable, clean, quiet. Bed comfortable. The grounds are beautiful: well landscaped, gentle rolling hill to the pool and dining area. Complimentary breakfast was delicious: rich Sumatran coffee, eggs, plate of tropical fruit, freshly made juice, assortment of pastry and Indonesian treats. Breakfast was always a highlight. Never had a bad dinner. The staff were always very helpful, charming and fun. The neighborhood was fun to walk through during the day. Locals were very friendly and accepting. We took 2 tours which were arranged through the hotel, which were surprisingly costly, although very good. Deddy, one of our drivers, was exceptional. We would definitely stay at the Deli River again.

Oasis in chaotic Medan

Ellie welcomed us with refreshing cold banana juice, suggested a dip in the pool and offered us swim towels. She also arranged a car to take us to the airport early the next morning as well as a packed breakfast. We enjoyed good Indonesian food at their Omlandia Restaurant.

Staff were friendly and went out of the way to help. But they don't have the regular reception so when one called the reception no, a less experienced staff may run off and ask another to help answer. They also had no reception and services after 9pm, only security guard. However before 9pm, they do try to accommodate your needs as much as they can, including bringing us tubs of ice cubes since there is no small fridge in the room. Good place for relaxing within the compound after a long drive such as from Lake Toba area.

Clean, quiet hotel with lovely staff.

This was an impulsive trip based on other traveller feedback and price.We left home with an open mind not knowing what to expect.
What we found was a quiet oasis set back from a busy main street. The cottage was clean and spacious, the hotel staff were polite, helpful and friendly. There were toys in the Restaurant for little kids and a little play area in the garden. The restaurant menu was surprisingly large for such a small place. The owners personally checked that we were happy.
We booked both airport transfer and a day trip through the hotel who organised a driver, guide and permits for us. Our driver was friendly and reliable, our guide was a lovely local man who spoke good English, carried our tired 4 year old on his back and took good care of us.

Beautiful place, even better at nighttime. \"Double\" bed is just two singles pushed together though and the curtains were kind of see through which made it a bit difficult for or honeymoon stay :-P

Relaxing, quiet, comfortable, friendly staff

We stayed here for 2 nights to relax into our holiday after a long flight, and we hardly left the hotel. We were virtually the only guests, but I suspect even at full capacity the hotel would remain a quiet place to relax in. Staff were uniformly helpful and friendly, and the free airport transfer went perfectly smoothly.

You can hang out by (or in) the very clean swimming pool, eat at the restaurant (the food was plain but reasonably priced), or just enjoy the room and gardens.

There isn't much nearby (we walked around the local streets a bit; people were very surprised to see westerners out and about in their neighbourhood) but I understand a taxi ride to Medan would be pretty cheap.

Overall, good if you need a place to chill out in comfortable surrounds. Bad if you're planning to indulge in a 24-hour food and shopping extravaganza.

Different buildings, situated in a beautiful garden. So when raining, you get soaked. Staff in restaurant is on the slow side, not paying attention whether guests are arriving or like to order. Food is decent. Breakfast starts at 8am, rather late.
Bring a good set of earplugs as the surrounding minarets are early and loud.
Room interior a bit tired.

Die Anlage ist eher klein und familiär. Es gibt nicht viele Wohnungen. Die Wohnungen sind auf mehrere Häuser verteilt. Man kann dort wirklich zur Ruhe kommen und sich entspannen. Man hat viel Privatsphäre. Das Personal kennt jeden Gast mit Namen und kümmert sich sehr fürsorglich um jeden Einzelnen. Das Essen war unfassbar lecker und frisch. Das Frühstück war sehr liebevoll angerichtet. Es gab immer einen frischen Smoothie aus Früchten aus dem eigenen Garten. Wir haben auch eine Yogastunde mitgemacht, die schon anspruchsvoll war aber wirklich Spaß gemacht hat. Die Umgebung ist leider nicht so toll. Medan hat ansich eher wenig zu bieten. Die Unterkunft ist aber absolut zu empfehlen!

gut zu erreichen.

Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtete Resortanlage mit dem reinen Flair von Tropennatur und Dschungel, eine Oase der Ruhe und Entspannung inmitten einer ansonsten extrem hektisch tosenden nicht ansehnlichen Millionenstadt. Das Resort bietet Komfort, Luxus und sehr persönliche Zuwendung seitens seiner aufmerksamen und fürsorglichen Belegschaft. Ein Ort, an dem man die Seele baumeln lassen kann und den man so in dieser Umgebung nicht erwarten würde.

Very pleasant stay in a beautiful natural setting.

We had a very enjoyable stay in this special natural, tropical setting near a river with a pond with geese in the middle, a good restauran and caring staff. Our cottage was equipped with all the necessary amenities, and there's a a terrace with a a beautiful view overlooking the compound. At night we could listen to all sorts of natural sounds, which gave us a secluded jungle feeling just a few minutes away from the busy city of Medan. It was a wonderful stay, and we were well taken care of, whenever we needed assistance. The owners, an Indonesian Lady and her Dutch husband were also very attentive and provided us with their own homemade very tasty Kefir.

Prima hotel net buiten de drukte van de grote stad

Prima hotel om enkele dagen te verblijven als uitvalsbasis voor het bekijken van Medan of het maken van trips op Sumatra.
Het hotel bestaat uit smaakvolle cottages gesitueerd in een kenmerkende tropische omgeving aan de Deli rivier. Het aan het hotel gekoppelde reisbureau is een uitstekende toegevoegde waarde. Door de aanwezige voorzieningen en ligging van de cottages ook uitermate geschikt voor families.
Goed a la carte restaurant en continental ontbijt.

Fin de séjour à Sumatra paradisiaque dans cet hôtel de grand standing. Repas très bon, petit-déjeuner formidable, cadre luxuriant, piscine 24/24, chambres communiquantes pour que les enfants vivent leur vie... Que du bon.
Attention, excentré de Medan et pas très connu (au moins de notre chauffeur). Quartier alentour moyen mais TRÈS bonne surprise une fois passé la grille.
