Great service from the time we got picked up from the airport until the time we left. Daily breakfast is a plus, esp the Freddo cappuccino. Walkable to restaurants and a 24 hour market where they serve hot foods to snacks- this was beneficial esp when dealing with jet lag. Quiet and safe area, which is a treat after visiting Oia or Fira. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our taxi driver called hotel and coordinated the pick up spot where they came to grab our bags. Lots of steps but that’s pretty normal for most hotels. I highly recommend this location. So relaxing but also close to restaurants and things to see and do.Staff helpful and food was really great. Best breakfast out of all the other properties during our trip.

Great 4 day stay at The Rocks Hotel celebrating a friends birthday. All staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The food (room service breakfast and poolside lunch) and drinks were delicious. The pool area is rather small and can be full if all guest are out enjoying it. The location is great, away from the busy Fira but close enough to walk there. Many restaurants near the hotel to choose from. Views from the hotel are amazing. Highly recommend staying here.

We traveled 10 hours on a plane to what we thought was advertised as a luxury hotel, but our room at $500 a night for 6 nights was anything but luxurious. The hotel overbooked and gave our ‘Caldera Suite without a hot tub’ to someone else. Instead, we received a hazardously damp basement room unfit to occupy which reeked of mold and chlorine, with a huge dirty hot tub with sand in it from the previous tenants, and a nonfunctioning humidifier full of water, contrary to the hotel’s claims of rigorous cleaning between tenants. Our socks and luggage were wet with humidity as was every surface in the room. The ceilings were hazardously low near the bathroom and luggage storage areas where we kept bumping our heads (I’m only 5’6”). There were two chairs and a table in the room facing an ugly wall instead of being outside on the balcony with a view of the Caldera as promised. The receptionist told us that a lot of people didn’t like that room and we had to change rooms 3 times in a 6 night stay due to maintenance issues including no hot water for showers, not well-maintained hot tubs which we didn’t want/nor use but were forced to deal with (we had to constantly empty the humidifiers, at least 6 times, sometimes in the middle of the night, and there was constant dripping sound which made it hard to sleep) and a power outage that left us in complete darkness. We stayed at 2 other hotels in Greece for 3 and 5 nights respectively with no accommodation problems or issues.

Absolutely incredible, attentive and friendly staff, always smiling, room was beyond expectations and a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite. Clean beyond anything, air con was brilliant and hot tub lovely and warm. Bed very comfortable and breakfast perfect on the balcony. My one negative would be the brightness of the fire escape light which kept me awake most nights as it’s so bright it’s like daylight - not sure it needs to be that bright. Location perfect and not too far down the steps, views outstanding. Thank you OTR team!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 out of the 5 nights we had booked. We didn’t stay the 5th night because I was done compromising. We had to stay near where wedding/parties were going on for friends that were getting married. 5 other couples stayed at this hotel as well. The SMELL in the room was so awful - stronger than sulfer, more like raw sewage that was backed up in the bathroom pipes. I don’t know what was going on with the hotel during the time we stayed, but all the couples that I knew who were staying there, said they had a smell in their room too… But none were as bad as ours most likely because our bathroom was in the back of our one bedroom suite… No windows no vent, so air couldn’t really circulate well. We were in such a rush to get to the wedding welcome party we didn’t get a chance to ask to move rooms - I just quickly told the front desk that there’s something going on in the bathroom and it smells horribly can we please get maybe a candle or some thing in the mean time. The bathroom walls also had like black mold on the walls, the toilet seat was falling off- The overall condition of the room was needing some major updating/fixing.
They attempted to fix the toilet seat, but nothing was done about the room/smell. I will say the staff and the breakfast they provide is stellar which helped having to deal with the smell. We stayed our last night at the new Curio Hilton Seabreeze that is ocean front on the black sand beaches. Absolutely stunning.

Service/View: Can't get better but mind the stairs! The hotel name says a lot about access for the disabled or poorly-abled. Please do not complain about the stairs! If you do you have not done your homework! If you complain about the view, you're blind! We were 10 days in Greece: 3 cities and the WOW moment out of all of them (including views of the Acropolis) was 20 steps from our taxi letting us off at the \"entrance\" to the hotel! Do yourself a favor and make sure you arrive during day time!

There are some amazing workers for this hotel who earn their keep so please tip them! The 'bellboys' are hulking guys that carry your luggage down (& up) dozens if not 100 stairs! Let them do their job! The breakfast in bed guys do the same with your meal each morning! Special shout out to Spiros, behind the bar who was so incredibly hospitable! Ditto goes for the receptionist staff who was so helpful but the evening person (don't remember her name but she's going off to university in Wales in a few weeks) was especially awesome!

The rooms are all different so see if you can get info/pictures about the interior of YOUR room! We had #15 & #16. Both were one \"floor\" below the pool/bar area. #15 was a traditional room all on one level but #16 was artistically amazing with the bed on a raised stone area and the bathroom was also up some stairs. Gave #16 to my 20-something kids who have better mobility than their 50-something parents! Balconies were the same and AWESOME!

Lovely hotel and amazing view. The service was excellent, nothing was too much to ask, reception arranged all taxis, excursions, and restaurant reservations for us, and upgraded us to a suite. The breakfast was also great - good selection and delivered to your room balcony! The only thing I would say is that the photos of the room were better than the real thing... Our shower was quite small / awkward shaped and smelt when you turned it on, and apart from the fact it was cave-like, the room wasn't anything special really (also lacking some of the listed room facilities). The balcony with view does make up for it, but the parasol holes are fixed in completely the wrong spots (you only get shade for about 1-2hrs of the day). The greek salad at the poolbar is LUSH and the cocktails really good too (and not too expensive either)!!

Really not sure what all the good reviews are about on this one. We stayed in room 23, near the reception for 3 nights. We couldn't wait to check out.

You can hear 100% of all foot traffic, voices from other rooms and walkways. The door had no deadbolt or lock from the inside. There was no peep hole either, and no way to put up a 'do not disturb' sign (the electronic switch was broken) - didn't feel very safe or private.

The bed is very soft and lumpy. We slept terribly the entire stay. The lights from fire alarm and router are so bright that they light up your room during the night. The a/c gave me an upper respiratory cold since it blows right on top of the bed and probably hasn't been cleaned out.

Additionally, the sinks and shower didn't drain. The towels were very tattered and old (similar comment made by another reviewer) - felt like sand paper.

We expected the room to be small, but even with those expectations we were surprised. I used to live in NYC and this was still shockingly small to me.

The pool area is unappealing and cramped. Not a place you'd hang out in.

The staff was kind and helpful, but we really didn't ask too much of them to be honest.

Nearby restaurants Anogi and Rare Meat are excellent.

Good sized room with a lovely bed and other facilities including a Nespresso pod machine. Stunning view of the Caldera from the balcony, but missing the sunset however there is a lovely little bar just a few minutes walk up the hill at the bell tower where you can go for the sunset (serving the best aperol!). Great service from all the team - big thumbs up for the guys who lug everything up and down all the steps! Handy location for walking to restaurants and nearby villages up and down the island (20min to Fira which has all the bus links, 2 hour stunning walk to Oia). Breakfasts were ample quantity and ok quality, served at a set time which you prebook each day before (note that time slots get booked quickly). Being built into the side of the rock the room was a little damp, which I suspect is a problem at most hotels here - a dehumidifier is in the room for this. If you struggle to sleep, note there are bright emergency and electrical panel lights in the room and noise from the fridge and water boiler.

Great small hotel, room 13 was very small but the view was great and the staff were very helpful especially carrying our 25kg luggage down all the stairs. We walked from hotel to oia would recommend it takes about 3hrs. And walk to Thira is about 30mins. Most of the hotels look the same same. If I was going again I’d stay in Oia as that’s where we spent most of our time and taxi is €30 each way.

Oh yes indeedy.

Imagine your perfect picture of a Greek island and then improve upon it. This was On The Rocks Hotel in Santorini. Absolutely superb. Just be aware, there really are quite a few steps. It’s Just beautiful. We normally go out and do lots of trips, but we were so taken by the view from the terrace of our room, and each room has one, that we sat with jaws dropping looking at the view for hour after hour. Believe me we have travelled all over the world and it was quite stunning. Well worth every penny. By the way, the breakfast is absolutely awesome as are the staff. Going back next year.

Tip; get back to the airport a little bit early, it’s a touch small for an awful lot of people and the systems creak a bit. Ask reception for help with local restaurants, we really love our food, make sure you go to Anoygi. Wonderful food, staggeringly good staff, really good prices. We both ate and drank our fill for €35 /head. Can’t wait for next year.
Do the 3 beaches and volcano boat trip.

This hotel was fantastic. We spent four nights here and loved it. Nestled away from the cruise ship crowds of Fira and Oia it is the perfect spot for a relaxing trip. The pool bar is awesome, cocktails are divine and the view is out of this world. Stunning views of the sunset and a cool viewing spot up the hill just five minutes if you want to see it from a different location too. Just a few minutes walk from the Imerovigli bus stop where you can bus to Oia or Fira so still really handy for getting around. There are some great restaurants around there area too and it is about a 15 minute walk into the main Fira township or a 2 hour walk if you want to hike the trail to Oia which is a cool experience if you're up for it. The staff here were super friendly and helpful, there is literally nothing bad I can say about this hotel.

Settled in the middle of the island, On The Rocks was perfectly located for us. We enjoyed being away from the large crowds of Fira and Oia. It was a beautiful hotel and the rooms had the most amazing spectacular views. There were super markets and restaurants located on the square down from the hotel as well as a rental place. We took advantage of the ATVs to explore the island a little more. We also utilized the spa services which were great. Breakfast on your personal balcony was great for us as well as afternoon drinks on the sun deck. Overall, we’d walk the 126 steps down to our room every day if we could! Absolutely beautiful.

In an amazing quiet location on the island. Not as busy as Fira or Oia but the views are just as amazing if not better.
Hotel itself has great staff, we stayed 9 nights as we just wanted a relaxing holiday and thats what we got.

We rented a vehicle so we left to eat and adventure daily. It was great to start and finish the day daily in a relaxing hotel. (We also walked to Fira a couple times, its about 20 mins 1 direction)

Sun loungers by the pool were always available. Pool is small but serves its purpose.

The power went out in my dirty, windowless 'suite' and the air conditioning wasn't repaired for almost 24 hours in 100 degree weather. For my compensation, at 8:30 the night before I was leaving Santorini the hotel manager sent a letter offering me dinner from the snack bar but reminding me it was closing at 9:30p.

Beautiful hotel with breathtaking views. Expected more from staff who seemed bored at what they do! Upon arrival we were not received at the port, a communication issue , hotel didn't receive my confirmation! However when I spoke to them from the port , the only thing they said was we dont have you on the list, they didn't offer to solve the Issue or help in anyway.
Our room was so small and too damp! bathroom was very tiny, moving in the room was almost impossible, shower water would flood the bathroom everytime we take a shower. Breakfast food served on the terrace was very good!
Hotel grounds are continuously being maintained and kept very well.

Awesome location in Imerovigli, 15 minutes (via ATV) from Fira (\"downtown\") and about 25 from Oia, the \"advertised\" side of Santorini. 25 minutes from the airport, 30 from the port. The steps to get down to your room can be tough though but that's practically all of the places in Santorini. Included breakfast every AM delivered to your room. Every room has a patio. Right next to Sunbird car rental which had great deals on ATV, car, and scooter rentals. Walking distance to several restaurants and a convenience store. Service was great. Cleaning crews and waiters were on point. Messed up a couple times with our ordered breakfast but nothing crazy. Free WiFi and free 1L bottled water every day.

Beutiful hotel, the staff is very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was very good. Great location, the views are amazing. The bus stop, grocery store & pharmacy are next to the hotel. Beatiful and clean room

Great location with amazing views

The room I stayed in had a fabulous view of the volcano and island. The staff were very helpful with all aspects and were extremely approachable. There is plenty to do at the hotel (small but lovely bar area with great atmosphere and views) and also loads of bars and restaurants nearby (only a 15 min walk from the \"centre\", Fira). Drinks and food at the restaurant is really good and well priced given the location of the hotel.

Nice refreshing experience

end of October is border line for the weather, in fact most of the business are about to close. also the local transport change timetable on the first of November and the museum start to be closed on Mondays.
We had one day rain, in which we were pleased to have booked the car for the entire stay. Pubblic transport are fine as far as you are in Fira (actually Imerovigli is 10minutes from Fira) because they have a \"star\" network; if you are somewhere else you need to come to Fira and change.
We have been hiking between Imerovigli and Oia with bus return.

Amazing Caldera View Hotel

We had an amazing time staying at the On The Rocks Hotel in Santorini. The view from our terrace was breathtaking and the service throughout our 4 day stay was exceptional. Maria at the front desk was extremely helpful with making the most of our stay including helping with dinner recommendations and taxis. The property is intimate and quiet perfect for relaxing and the breakfast brought to your room each morning based on your selected time is a great touch to enhancing a truly memorable experience.

Perfect view

Beautiful boutique hotel with gorgeous view

The only problem I had with this hotel was that the bathroom gets wet very easily because of the lack of a shower curtain. This may be diffferent if it was not a \"standard\" room that I booked. It also made the room a bit humid. However, air conditioning should help with that. Everything else was top notch and I would not hesitate to start here again.

do your homework

this place is beautiful, but please know what you are getting into before you get there. we went to spend sometime here on the recommendation of pals from school and boy did we find it to be a physical challenge. the place is carved into a mountain and thus its not all modern and luxurious in that way. the steps are all different sizes and you may struggle to get up and down to the pool and bar if you don't swing for the suites up top. Be in great shape or be confined to the room lol

Lovely stay with the ‎Caldera View.

We love our stay tn this hotel. The view is fantastic. You right in the middle of that famous photoshoot of Santorini. That exactly was my expectation. The service was impeccable, breakfast on time. All people in the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
What else? The weather was beautiful and we watched fabulous sunsets from the island.
We rented a car in the port to get around. The taxi is not very easy to find.

An Absolute Dream!

Our experience with this hotel was perfect. We used their transfer service to/from the airport which was excellent and worth the price. Maria, in the reception, was wonderful. She booked us a catamaran cruise without any hassles. Although we arrived very early, before check-in time, we were still welcomed with two glasses of wine once in our room which we enjoyed on our private terrace. Our room (#10) had a majestic view of the caldera. Room was on the small side but comfortable and very well decorated. Typical Santorini, loved the all white décor/paint! Breakfast menu had limited options but was very good. Once you decide what you want to eat, it is served at your terrace/room or poolside as there is no formal restaurant with sitting. A little different than what we are used to but very much enjoyed eating at our terrace mesmerized with the gorgeous views! Lunch and dinner options were also delicious. Also, best Mojito drink EVER! Props to the bartender! Pool was refreshing and nice. The views from the hotel are to die for. The property grounds were super clean. Note: lots of stairs. We did not mind at all. You are literally on the cliff. The staff was awesome; so friendly and hard-working! The morning of our departure, we were so kindly served coffee and pastries at 4:30am. Overall, we had a magical time at this hotel and the island. We can't wait to return to On The Rocks!!

Honeymoon stay

Stays here for 4 nights during our honeymoon. The hotel was great. Breakfast every morning on your room patio was good and a variety of options. The views of the caldera were stunning. Would highly recommend staying in Imerovigli. Less crowded and quiet vs Oia and Fira but centrally located so easy to get to either. Enough restaurants and stores within a few min walk to satisfy. Only two complaints would be the pool was quite cold and our room was pretty small. Would stay here again though.

Wonderful boutique hotel with the PERFECT view

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about On the Rocks. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and taken care of. We were greeted at the hotel with two huge glasses of delicious white wine and an upgraded room! The bartender and waiter by the pool were wonderful and always took care of us with whatever we needed. The drinks and the food at the hotel were great! What was most wonderful is the view from this hotel. We walked all around the island and no view compared to ours! It had the perfect view of the caldera and surrounding white buildings--completely picturesque! We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely hotel In the perfect location

This is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel room was clean and beautiful and unique (we had an economy room). The breakfast was perfect and the location made it easy to walk around and see a lot of the island. I hope I get the chance to stay here again some day!

I did not want to leave!

The moment I arrvied I felt like royalty. They always had my best interest in mind. I arrvied much later than I anticipated but they always had a smile on thier face. The room was beautiful and the view breath taking. The breakfast is unique, you got to choose what you wanted and where you wanted it to be delivered and what time. I always had mine by the deck to look over the sea. The staff is wonderful and asked me how everything was, if anything was out of place they made sure it was made right! The cleanliness of this place is beyond wonderful. The room was cleaned daily, which is to be expected but the facilities around the hotel was always being cleaned. The pool is cleaned every morning and the deck cleaned multiple times of day. It made me happy to see they cleaned the railings too (less chance of getting sick).

A few extra things: this place is on the side of a cliff and on the higher part of the island. If you choose this place be prepared to do some hiking up and down stairs. This place is located about 25min walk from Fira, which is not bad, but coming back it is all up hill. Don't worry! Public transportation is very useful and you can always rent a car or a quad bike (which are much more fun).

Overall this is the best hotel experience I ever had and I did not want to leave. Santorini is beautiful but On the Rocks was the icing on the cake!

Lovely little hide-away on Santorini with THE VIEW

Lovely get-a-way; actually my favorite little hide-away on Santorini! Walking distance from Fira and quiet, lovely village with some taverns for lazy evenings. Hotel has great sun beads with great view and all day sun + fresh pool for refreshing in-between. I have stayed now 2 times -and definitely going back again to relax and reload.

Beautiful views and lovely staff

We stayed here in July 2015 and had an absolutely blissful week! Having seen the entire island we were confident that Imeriovigli is the best choice of location on the island and On the Rocks provided excellent accommodation for competitive pricea. Imeriovigli is the highest village on the island and has the most amazing views, it is one of the most picturesque, is easy to explore the island from and has lots of very reasonable restaurants serving delicious local food.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful during our stay; the manager met us and showed us our room and the hotel facilities and he and all the staff were very helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. We were even upgraded to a superior room as they had the space (room 14 - right by the pool and great views from the balcony! But where doesn't?!).

Breakfasts were abundant and delicious and the room was clean, light and airy and had everything we could have needed. Staying in a cave was great fun too!

The bar menu and drinks were prohibitively expensive but it wasn't an issue as there are many very good places to eat and drink in the immediate vicinity - Anoti on the main square was a particular favourite!

All in all, an absolutely gorgeous holiday and we would happily return to on the rocks in a flash!

Wonderful hotel in perfect location

I am so glad we staed at On The Rocks. The staff there are amazing, gracious and helpful. The Manager personally escorted us to our room, which he had upgraded from a room to a suite.It was very large and had a private balcony with chaise lounges overlooking the pool. The staff were amazing including the housekeeper the brkfast stewards who brough us a delicious gourmet breakfast set up on our balcony at 8:00AM every morning. The lovely girl in reception was extremely helpful. The poolside waiter Vasili was delightful. The pool is large and clean. It is conveniently located to the Imervogli parking area which means it is not far to walk to the hotel on arrival. In Santorini, this is important. Imerovigli is a much more pleasant place to stay than Firastefani which is a madhouse.

Awesome View and Accommodations

We loved everything about On The Rocks - unbelievable views and EXCELLENT customer service. Great location - just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Phira and still close enough to walk. Only challenge for some of the rooms closer to the sea than the reception area, is that you need to be in excellent shape to walk the stairs but well worth the gorgeous views and rooms.
