This was the first hotel of seven hotels that we stayed in during our two weeks of traveling, and after the first night, I found myself unhappy that I had booked the hotel for later in the trip. Unfortunately, I couldn’t cancel without losing all my money. So, we sucked it up and survived two more nights. During our second visit, we avoided going to the in-house restaurant again even though we found the food to be very delicious. I don’t know if it’s just the culture, but we weren’t greeted at the restaurant. Not an attempt was made as the staff just stared at us while we walked around looking confused. I had to make first contact to see where we could sit. We were informed we could sit anywhere by an employee who scurried off to do something else. Once we found a spot, everyone continued to stare at us as if we had arrived in a UFO. Service was just straight forward business. I am here to take and bring your order, and you are here to eat. Done.
As for the rooms, they are dated. It’s about time the furniture got an upgrade. The towel heater was always on and in competition with the air conditioner. Breakfast was pure chaos and that energy was felt as soon as you walked into the room. People zipping all over the place in a hurry to get food as if the buffet would run out in 10 minutes. Then they rush to get back to their tables. Again, pure chaos. I hated every minute I spent there, but I had already paid for breakfast and discovered that no café in the area was open before

Breakfast had a good choice and constantly replenished.
Easy to get to from the airport by bus (only 1 change) with bus stop less than 5 minutes away.

Not sure I'd say 4 star though compared to other places we have stayed. Lacking in power sockets in the room for charging, not any by the bed without unplugging the beside light each side. No safe in the room, only at reception. Coffee sachets were 3in1 (coffee, milk & sugar), no option for without. Curtains didn't fit windows so if you like to sleep in a dark room, take an eyemask!

Good breakfast, with a few options and some traditional. Could use some better eggs and veggie options.

Room is good - I would say average- perhaps inside rooms and bathrooms need an upgrade. Carpet out, better drains and amenities in shower/ bathroom.

Worth 50$ but would not be worth 75-100$ it’s not that level of hotel & considering Latvian prices.

Easy walking access to public transit and over bridge to the old town area.

I stayed here for 5 nights at the very end of March 2025. My room was on the 8th Floor, nice and quiet. I paid for a single 'double' as I wanted a bit more room. Basically, I think it was a standard twin (both beds pushed together), which suited me and I thought it was very good value. Plenty of choice for breakfast - inc porridge, fruit, cold meets, pancakes, omelette, juice etc. Rooms were cleaned and tidied every day. Gym is quite well stocked for a hotel - €5 gets you a 24hr pass to the gym so you can effectively go 2 'days' in a row which I did. I walked into the old town each day which took me 20-25 min, there was a chilly wind across the bridge but that's to be expected for March/early April. Literally 3 - 4 min walk from the hotel is a shopping mall with a fairly big supermarket inside and a smallish food court (perhaps 7 or 8 food outlets) upstairs. Checkout at 12 is useful and they will keep your bags safe until you want to pick them up. Other than breakfast, I didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the quality of meals (apart from the breakfast, which was quite good). All in all, it was good value and I'd stay there again if I ever return to Riga.

The whole experience was amazing from start to finish! The room was lovely and warm! Breakfast was delicious and the location for me anyways was fantastic with an outlet and supermarket literally less then 5 mins walk and old Riga about 20 mins walk over the bridge.. no complaints from me. My one and only thing I would say is the hairdryer wasnt working continuously but it isn't enough to drop the score.

What I like about this staying is the location - it's very convenient. 5min distance walk there is riverside, so you can enjoy Riga's Panorama view. Near by shopping mall adds bonus if you need quick extra something. Also near by there's Riga's bus/trolley stops which easily and quick can get you to the Centre and Old town of Riga.
Another thing what I like here - is breakfast which is included in your staying - is wide choice and fresh.
Thank You for a lovely experience. We felt welcomed and we definitely hoping to be back:)

My Five-Day Stay

It advertises itself as a 4 1/2 star hotel but in reality, it’s three stars. That being said, it was fairly comfortable and very clean. The breakfast buffet was very extensive with lots of different tasty options. It was also situated away from the downtown area, so you got a little bit more peace and quiet, but it is easily accessible by crossing the bridge that’s onlytwo blocks away from the hotel. The staff were very helpful and attentive. But the hotel does not have a laundromat and it does not have an ice machine.

This is a large modern property just outside Riga city center, across the Daugava river. There is not much in the immediate area but it´s close to the city and has a good restaurant and bar menu. Free parking and good value for money if you don´t need to be in the center.

A great hotel to stay at on Riga. Just outside of the hussle a bussle with just a short walk over the bridge to Old Town. Staff were professional and welcoming. The room was clean and everything expected. Breakfast in the mornings had plenty of options to suit all citizens. The rooftop restaurant was faultless. The food was better than expected for the price. Staff were as good as expected atnpeack busy hours. Highly recommend. Will stay again in the not to distent future.

All good, but for such 4,5* I would expect that both elevators would be in service (usually long waiting time until you get down/up). And on Tuesday evening there was no elevator in service and there was no information put next to. I and some other guests were waiting about 5 minutes until someone passing by told us, that elevator is not working at all. Walking to the 8th floor by stairs is healthy but not pleasant.
As well cleaning in rooms could be more that just vacuum cleaning of floors, as clearly visible dust on the desk around the phone area and tea/coffee making set doesn't witness about proper cleaning. As well there is no cleaning if you leave your room around 2 pm.
On the positive side hotel has good location (15 minutes walk to the Old Town) and free parking in case you arrive by car or rent a car to travel around.

Dobry hotel z bezpłatnym parkingiem. Śniadania średnie, mały wybór potraw. Czajnik, kawa, herbata w pokoju. Ogromny problem z Wi-Fi - przez cały pobyt praktycznie internet nie działał. A jest mi niezbędny do pracy. Po zgłoszeniu na recepcji, dalej nie udało się go naprawić i uruchomić. Inni goście, też skarżyli się na niedziałające Wi-Fi.

Business travelers and someone looking for a quiet stay - beware. Hotel hosts parties on the top floor bar until 2am, while building is sub-standard and built completely non-sound proof - therefore you hear it few floors down. It felt like at 11pm party was happening in my room, while after 11pm it was still disturbing. We complained to reception after 10pm, while they suggested to wait until 11pm to see if it becomes better before doing anything. It was obvious after 11pm that the improvement was minor, but moving to another room was too late for us to consider as it was last night of our stay. Why hotel didn't warn about it during check-in, nor they asked if we would prefer a more quiet room, that's a mystery. But all in all extremely pure attitude towards all guests who have chosen to stay here.

A Gem of a Hotel

This hotel is outstandingly good. We have a friendly welcome at check-in and although we arrived around 9:30pm in the evening we were able to enjoy a tasty meal in 9th floor restaurant. We dined twice in the restaurant and the food and service was flawless.

Breakfast was included in our booking and the selection was plentiful and varied.

The bed was comfy and the room was cosy.

Would definitely stay here again.

The bed just about okay, okay value at 64 euro for B&B, however there is no point in having the breakfast (see below)

This is not a four star hotel, it is at best a two, and not a good one at that

Booming loud music woke us up at 7am and the continued for many hours, annoying and hard to fall asleep again. I am not sure if this was a fitness centre or our bad luck, hard to tell

The buffet breakfast was the worst breakfast I have had in any hotel anywhere I have ever stayed - warm items were all cold, the choice wasn't good, even the cereal was stale, I would personally not even have this breakfast

This is also the bridge from the main city and it is not a 15 walk there, muchmkre, and you get wind beaten on route... 😅

Most hotels in Riga are overpriced and not very good, this is below thta, just sta somewhere closer to the centre

Nice spacious room (delux) with amazingly big windows.
The only thing the curtain don’t really save from morning light. But it is ok for wake-up for good breakfast. Nice food, fresh fruit, good variety of everything to start your day full.
Quiet and green area. 15 to 20 min walk to Old town. 300 m from the small river beach.
Nice stay. Would return again.

I was staying in this hotel hotel before and choosing it just because of good location (close to the old town) and convenient parking that is included in room rate already.
This time it was a bit long queue at reception once I arrived (not pleasant to wait 15 minutes in case your plane was few hours late), but in general staff was nice and helpful.
Room was clean, just the view this time was not as nice as during my stays before.
Breakfast is included in the rate, but quite simple and almost the same every day. If you stay longer, lack of choice would make you a bit disappointed.
In general hotel is in good condition and very convenient location, especially if you are traveling by car or rent a car for the time of your stay.

Nice hotel in a walkable distance from the Old Town. Good value for price, as well great choice if you travel by car, as there is large parking space available.
Hotel rooms a quite nice. As we were staying in this hotel 3 times during our trip to Latvia, each time we got a bit different room. Some rooms have wardrobe with doors, some just open ones. And there might be differences in shower/bathtub either.
In overall hotel is good and we would recommend it. Just breakfast could offer more choices.

It’s a great overall experience! The room is in great condition, clean and neat, with a nice view! Hotel is also clean, well maintained and in great location. Also free parking is available that is a great and rare thing for a hotel in Riga. Breakfast was good and not crowded. Definitely would recommend for a short stay especially if with a car!

Room was very hot and weather outside only close to ten plus celcius. Room aircontion was shut down. Only open restaurant was in the roof top and it was freezing atmosphere. Masks were announced be used in the hotel public places but nobody really checked to the rules. Breakfast was basic nothing to raise up so much. Positive issue in free parking. This hotel is not a four star hotel.

Īslande Hotel is located on the left river bank almost opposite of the Riga Old Town (10 minutes walking over the Vanšu bridge). The Ķīpsala neighborhood is very green and has some nice renovated wooden houses. The hotel is really nicely decorated and offers great atmosphere. The hotel staff in general was very friendly and helpful, except some staff serving free breakfast: better understanding of Latvian would be much appreciated, as well sometimes on-order hot meals were almost cold. I was staying 9 nights in a standard double room with the nice view to the river, bridge and the Old Town. Unfortunately in this room only open wardrobe was available which is a bit weird for 4.5 stars hotel. Despite description says that there is a safe in the room, it was not available in my room. But minibar was there.
On the positive note, this hotel has nice roof restaurant on the the 10th floor terrace with a beautiful terrace and wonderful view to the river Daugava and Old Town of Riga. I would stay again in this hotel.

This was my second stay as the first was okay.
Nothing in the room explaining about the hotel, breakfast was disgusting (picture attached) i did show the picture to the 3 people behind reception and got 3 blank looks, nothing was done. The picture i took actually does it justice because believe me it looked disgusting.The chef should be totally embarrassed for the crap he sent out of his kitchen. This is the reason we went out to dinner.

In USA 4 1/2 star hotels have robes, sleepers, face soup and boutique shampoo and conditioner, available for guests' use, which this hotel didn't have. Awesome week in Riga Islande Hotel

The location of the hotel is very convenience for car drivers either for walkers. Room is nice and fresh. It was a riverside view with stunning picture at morning. The breakfast can satisfied LV drivers as well as elderly couples. Hotel staff are very friendly and cheerful. It was a real pleasure to stay in the hotel for a week.

В целом неплохо, но это скорее крепкая тройка, чем настоящие 4 звезды. Расположение неплохое для путешествия на машине, пешком до старого города - минут 20 по мосту через реку. Своя бесплатная парковка. Завтрак хороший, все вкусно, выбор стандартный.

PALDIES!!

I am a musician, and I had a series of concerts to perform in Latvia. My stay at Iskande hotel was a wonderful experience, because I had plenty of rest there, and extraordinary breakfast that gave me energy to go through the whole day. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.
